We came for husband's birthday.
We chose this place for three reasons: bone marrow, soufflé, and dry aged steak! Couldn't believe they had all three. Loved the old school vibe of the place. Although a much smaller scale, it reminded me of one of the NY steakhouses that I really enjoy. Host staff was very friendly. They seated us at a circular booth. There were four of us, and we thought it was a bit cramped. Elbow room was fine, but because it was a small circular booth, our knees were up against each other. Server gave us a good recommendation right from the start. We started with the Roasted Bone Marrow appetizer and the Hand Cut Beef Tartare. It had been a while since I had bone marrow so I really enjoyed it. The beef tartare was also good. It came with dollops of a Dijon vinaigrette, which was good, but I thought overpowering for the beef tartare. So I preferred the tartare without it. Husband and I shared the Cote de Boeuf for two, which also came with two pieces of bone marrow. My son ordered the dry aged Black Label Burger. It came with a generous amount of fries. Daughter ordered the Smoked Li Duck Breast. Our dry aged steak came out perfectly medium rare, as requested. It was a good portion. It had a nicely seasoned crust. Rib eye is usually a bit too fatty for me, but this one wasn't too bad. It came with a gem salad which was decent. We also ordered the haricote verts and champignons poelees as sides to share. The haricote verts had a nice crisp to them, but I thought they were in too much butter. Overall, all the food was nicely flavored and seasoned. I tried the duck breast, and it was tender and had a nice smoky flavor to it. Didn't try the dry aged burger, but the fries that came with it were nicely seasoned. Surprisingly, no need to add extra salt. We finished the dinner by sharing the soufflé for two. It was moist and light. Husband is a big fan of soufflés, and he approved. The attentive service included refilled waters in a timely manner, and we were checked on throughout to see how our dinner was going. Minetta Tavern pleasantly surprised us. We wondered why we never came before. We'd come again and try the dry-aged New York Strip steak.
Hands down some of the best food I've tasted lately.
Staff was amazing and the food was even better! Drinks were also very well made. Ambiance was perfect. Not too bright, but not too dim. Just the right amount of lighting to set the mood for a great date night.
Didn't have food this time around but we do plan to go back.
Cute French tavern in Union Market. The aesthetics were amazing, love the portraits and maps. If you're into downtown NY style restaurants that feel like a scene out of an old mob movie this is the place. Service was quick and easy. Love a bartender that doesn't bog you down as you catch up with friends. The hostess was great, super cute and gave her card so we could schedule my bff's birthday dinner with her directly. We'll definitely be back soon!
Excellent food, ambiance and teamwork = perfect evening for party of 10
In a word, superb! From the gracious greeting from Isabel to the patient service from Matt, our party of ten had a relaxed evening of fun, conversation and wonderful meals. Highlights: Salad, steak, cod, pasta. The french fries were perfection. Do not miss the lemon madeleine cookies. Even though the restaurant was fully booked, the acoustics are so good that we could hear everyone at our table. Can hardly wait to return. Last point - the teamwork is impressive here. Anticipating needs must be their superpower.

When I tell you this is the cutest place!!!! Hailey was our waitress upstairs. Andre ( I believe that was his name- he was wearing the white coat a main bartender upstairs with roots from Bolivia). He was a complete delight! He told his background, we talked about cars and just had a beautiful evening. It is a perfect intimate space that has the real vibe of a speakeasy. The speakeasy trend is over used but this hits it. It is lowkey upstairs. A nice getaway. The only small thing I wasn't a fan of is the upstairs faucet. I thought I had left it running because I couldn't cut it off
This bar was amazing.
The vibes were on point--dark, moody, and perfect for a date night or drinks with friends. The bartender was fantastic and made us some great espresso martinis and shots. I loved the no-phone policy; it added a unique touch and gave it a cool, NYC-style feel. I haven't eaten at the restaurant downstairs yet, but I'd definitely love to try it next time.

.. 5 of us. We found a couch in the back for three of us and let her know two more were coming. but the server helped set us up elsewhere. So nice!! Got the Bas Soleil cocktail. Perfect after dinner drink.i loved the vibe here. Totally my decor! Lighting low, Red velvet furniture and crystal chandeliers. A bit lively in a Friday night Bathrooms are shared but the cleanest and most polite I've ever seen. I'll be back.
This place was lovely.
Very New York in DC. Massive ribeye for two with the creamiest aligot potatoes. Light, citrusy hamachi crudo to start. A showstopper Grand Marnier souffle to finish. Highly recommend for date nights or double dates - great intimate vibe. Was too full to visit the Lucy Mercer bar but will make a special visit next time.

Fantastic fries! And the space was impressively (re)created to look like a bistro space that has been around for 80 years. Even had stains on the ceiling and cheap frames around old photos. It was also a hive of constant motion and activity by a very large front of house staff. Overall, the service was good, and attentive at the right times; appreciate that. The menu failed to register with us. It wasn't a cliche traditional French bistro menu, but nothing really jumped out as strong temptations. Got the moules frites, steak tartare and lobster bellevue. They were all solid, but not anything that really popped and would be something we'll remember going forward. The lobster dish had a good amount of lobster, but the dressing was too creamy and too much. It came with thinly sliced (chicory, radishes?) vegetables - kind of a slaw - that were a bit too bitter. The beef tartare was substantial and the meat nicely cut - not too mushy nor large chunks. It had some crunchy black peppercorns that added a good amount of spiciness. It was good; but again, will we remember this going forward? The mussels came in a flavorful creamy broth. They were smaller than we can get retail and tasty. The bread was tasty too, although I've had both better and worse. So, all in all, solid. Just not particularly memorable, which is the reason behind 2 instead of 3 stars. The wines by the glass are very pricey, ranging essentially from $22-$28/glass. Fortunately, they were at least substantial pours, which is not the case at too many other places.

I've come here a number of times and days (brunch, dinner, weekday, weekend). Service has been consistently warm and inviting. The food is always great. Burger was a hit, but the coq au vin is one of my favorites with a really nice depth of flavor. Drinks never feel rushed as are well balanced. Always happy to try to snag a bar seat!
Disappointed
Disappointed. We went for Sunday Brunch. The place is lovely on the inside and an authentic recreation of a classy NY bar. We ordered Bloody Mary which were Ok. I ordered the hamburger but not the super super expensive one but just the regular one. It was properly cooked but I thought missed the mark in a few respects. The bun was underwhelming, the caramelized onions that came with it weren’t very good (a simple slice of red onion would be better) and the other condiments (some lettuce, a tomato slice and a pickle) were underwhelming. The fries were ok but not great. My wife had the omelette which she enjoyed but at $23 without any sides, a bit over priced. The service was friendly and efficient. This is an expensive place and in my view over priced and just not worth a return.
Great food, super noisy!
This is a very attractive restaurant in NOMA. Has a Paris or New York (where the original Minetta Tavern is) vibe. On a recent Sunday evening, the place was very busy. Service was generally good with a few mistakes here and there (taking away forks before bread was finished, hovering to take unfinished plates away). The food was excellent; our group had the filet, the branzino, the coq au vin and some pasta dishes. But the main reason I might not return was the noise level. We were in a group with some millenials who agreed that the noise level was a big negative, so it wasn't just us! Perhaps if you go at a very off time it would be fine.
French Elegance at Union Market!
It was the authentic French onion soup that led us there. However, upon check-in, throughout dinner, and our departure, we experienced warm and genuine hospitality with attentive and exemplary guest service. The atmosphere was upscale but not pretentious, and it offered the warmth and coziness of an English pub. The soup was delicious and as described. We also had a house favorite, the Black Label Burger entrée, which we greatly enjoyed. Only open since December, this restaurant is a most welcome addition to the Union Market area. Special kudos to Koby, who greeted us upon arrival, our server, Derrick, and Roberta, who graciously gave us a tour. We also had the special pleasure of meeting the friendly owner, Keith McNally. Yes, it was a wonderful dining experience! We look forward to returning to explore other menu items. Reservations are recommended. Go experience it for yourself!
MICHELIN in DC
Well, Thursday-Friday nights this place is P A C K E D We waited for our table for 45 mins.. but it was worth it. And, actually, do you really plan what you do every 15 mins on weekend? We stayed at The Bar while waiting. We received great service. Some kind of Manager offered us a glass of complimentary Champagne. It was basic, but I appreciate the gesture. We had lots of laughs with random people there, crowd was really cool. Bartenders did a great job entertaining everybody. I see that NewYorkers post that Minetta’s Burgers is something “to die for”. I am not that kind. As soon I have seen “Coq Au Vin” in the Menu.. Gosh.. I thought, this would be an opportunity to see the MICHELIN, Surprise me! To have my experiment as clean as possible, I even did not order any alcohol at dinner, just a San Pellegrino Water. And Chef did not disappoint: Classic French stew, Braised Chicken, Red Wine Sauce. Mes Compliments, C’etait excellent (he should be somehow French, I feel it! And still keeping that NYC touch). We had Derek as a Server. All assistants who helped him were very nice. And hosts looked neatly and professional. I am proud to be the first who wrote the review.

* ImmortalStep65, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* ImmortalStep65 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to ImmortalStep65 for any questions Peter may have as ImmortalStep65 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* ImmortalStep65 now uses their connections at Minetta Tavern DC Washington to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ImmortalStep65 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, ImmortalStep65 receives the $200 reward which is credited to ImmortalStep65's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Minetta Tavern DC Washington!
