Top quality ambience, service and food
Wonderful experience. It all begins with a challenge to find the location. Once found it definitely a must visit and repeat. We had no reservation but the warm hostess found a way and seated us at the bar. At the bar dorothy was excellent - non intrusive but yet attentive. The ambience especially in winters is wonderful. The sevice excellent. The food was par par excellenance with the cabbage, prawns and haloumi standout. Avoid much of the starters just stomach fillers. Kudos good job and will be back
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and ambiance
When you walk in you know it’s going to be delicious. The air smells of delicious food and the fire grill in the middle of the restaurant is impressive looking. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Both were great. Highly recommend this path so you can get a bunch of different things. There are two wine pairings, and we got the more adventurous ones. The wines were good and I’m glad I tried them. Only critique was the pacing of food. The first two courses were well-timed and the third came out too quickly. We were not even halfway through the wine or food from the second course and suddenly the ribeye and next wine arrive. Needed another 10-15 mins. Would definitely come back again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat find
Took us a while to find the restaurant hidden down a side street. Restaurant has main cooking area on right, with a few outdoor tables on street and another area indoors on the left which was where we were seated. Food wise - we had the fixed menu of 2 courses of starters (dips, pickled veg, dates and fresh herbs) followed by sea bass and rib eye. My wife thought the rib eye was the best she’d ever had… We chose a Palestine white which was excellent Great restaurant and defo recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyStand-out Middle Eastern flavours
We’re very used to having Middle Eastern food and wondered how it could be made to stand out; this showed us how! Many of the usual types of dishes but with so much more intensity of flavour and original ideas in ingredients and spicing. We had the tawle menu so had a good range of different treats. Delightful service in a relatively small (but beautifully set out) dining room meant that we were looked after very well all evening without it feeling overbearing or rushed. Highly recommended for anyone who likes this type of food or anyone who hasn’t tried it before!

Very, very good Father’s Day dinner. Service was extremely friend and professional. Ages at my table ranged from 11 to 81 and all enjoyed their experience (ambiance, food, conversation and service). Our first course included Labne, Halloumi and dates (high recommend). Second course Lamb Shish) and roasted eggplant – both highly recommend. Last course was the Ribeye – cooked a perfect medium rare. I very much look forward to our next Maydan meal.
Be the first to ReplyEvent Planning Customer Service Experience
If you are looking for a venue to host your next event, I highly suggest Maydan for a low-stress, collaborative experience. While I have yet to have the opportunity to visit Maydan in person, I had a wonderful interaction with the event coordinator and managerial staff. I was disappointed when my organization did not select Maydan to host our event because the staff I had interacted with thus far had been so friendly and helpful; I trust their behavior would've been the same in person.
Be the first to ReplyFlavorful dishes
House made Hummus was very good. Skewer Chicken was tender but with with minimal flavor. Labneh was thick and flavorful. Tabbouleh was made with fresh ingredients. Olives were cinnamon flavored. They were just ok. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Decor is rustic chic. It is a pricey restaurant but you get what you pay for… it is a delightful restaurant in otherwise culinary impaired city like D.C.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food!!
One of my favorite Lebanese restaurant in Washington DC. Great service and awesome food. Large portion size to be shared! Making a reservation is recommended as this is one Michelin-star restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food for a good price
Everything was seasoned to perfection, the atmosphere was welcoming but rustically beautiful the outside was also quite nice, and had heaters so it wasn’t too cold. The food was incredibly packed with flavor which it some of the best food I’ve ever had!
Be the first to ReplyWorth the hype
I’d wanted to check out Maydan for several years and finally made it there for my birthday this year. The experience did not disappoint! Every course was absolutely delicious. The muhamarra was the best I’ve ever had. The ribeye was cooked to perfection. The tabbouleh salad was probably the most underwhelming, but only because it was next to so many other amazing things. All of the waiters were knowledgeable and helpful. I definitely plan on going back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Tawle
Truly amazing experience for our first time at a Michelin star restaurant. We got the bronzino with the Tawle experience and the “do you trust us?” wine pairing. I’m not sure I’d need the wine pairing again, but they were definitely unique wines I wouldn’t have normally tried and worked well with the food. Service was great (there were a lot of staff) and we left positively stuffed, with some leftovers as well. Don’t fill up too much on dips at the start, because there are two more sets of food coming!
Be the first to ReplyMagical!
Simply one of the great dining experiences. Tucked away in a warehouse at the back of an alley, the dining room is hidden by a door that, once opened, finds a vibrant space with a fire pit centrally placed for the chefs to operate. The 2 hour experience is magical, the Middle Eastern delicacies brought out at pace. And the lamb. The lamb. THE LAMB! There is also a great selection of wines from Lebanon to complement the dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced
No price shown on the menu. Had the $75 wine pairing. Bill came to $600 for 4 of us. Interesting wines, small amount poured for the price.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a meal!
I had been wanting to try this place for years, but it was always really tough to get a reservation. But recently they started releasing reservations at a different time and I was able to get one for my friends and me just as they released them. Well worth the effort!! We were there this past Thursday and it was a fantastic meal. We had the Tawle meal, whereby they just start bringing you everything. Our server was knowledgeable and so was the sommellier, who recommended us some great wines. Every dish was great and we loved the branzino and ribeye we were served. The dips were delicious and loved the kabobs. We were full!! Already have reservations to return in a few weeks when friends are in town. Highly recommend and so glad I was finally able to go!
Be the first to ReplySplendid food, atmosphere and service but pricey and disappointing drink pairing.
Splendid food, atmosphere and service. The setting is unique and beautiful. The overnight sous-vide lamb shoulder (+$20 pp) was one of the best cooked meat I've had in a long time. However, the drinks ($75 "Trust us" pairing) were surely "interesting" and "special", but watery, small servings and disappointing overall. And why is there a "service fee" of 8% (actually 11%, since we pay tax and tip on it as well) and it's not simply included it in the price? These hidden "taxes" are ridiculous.
Be the first to ReplyFood poisoning after meal there
After what was indeed a delicious meal two members of our party came down with vomiting and diarrhea several hours later (two others had minor GI symptoms). We contacted the restaurant by email but received no response. For the safety of future customers their food preparation and handling need to be reviewed.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Meal
This was the 3rd time dining at Maydan when in town from NY. It was a snowy evening and Omicron was raging and DC just implemented it’s vaccine mandate for restaurants. We had the most wonderful service, amazing cocktails (Dead Sea!) and the lamb shoulder was to die for. We are still dreaming of the halloumi cheese side dish as well. And the bread!
Dining at Maydan transports you to an exotic location where all the Middle Eastern foods and ambience create a special experience.
Excellent Food & Generous Portions
What a stunning restaurant with stellar service and food! My husband and I opted to go vegetarian for this birthday dinner meal and the restaurant was super accommodating and helpful with suggestions on what to order for the center plate.
Everything tasted delicious, but the following were standout dishes for us:
• Halloumi
• Hearth Roasted Carrots
• Beet Borani Spread
• Baba Ganoush Spread
• Chickpea Stew (if I remember correctly, this one was customized for us)
We also tried a beverage package that included small servings of non-alcoholic drinks. We were wowed by the Euphrates drinks—it was so tasty!
I was looking forward to the semolina olive oil cake but it was quite dry despite the syrup. They did top of it with a candle for my birthday which was very thoughtful.
Overall, the food was excellent and the portions were extremely generous (we took so much food home!). The bill can get steep, but it’s worth it for special occasions. Reservations fill up fast, so make sure you sign up as soon as they update their calendar!
Superb food, over-priced, lackluster dining experience for 1*
Tawle menu for 3 at 75pp. Very good food but portions for 3 were probably portions for 2. One rib-eye split between 3 and two small portion kebabs (really one kebab), carrots, hummus, muhamarra, and mtaboul, and dessert (disappointing olive cake). Bottom line: go a la carte. It's more reasonable. The "dining experience" is disappointing, especially if you are in the tent. Avoid it at all costs. Rugs on ground were soaking wet, leftover Xmas decorations, poor ambiance, no attention to detail on decor, a sampling of failed DIY projects. Drinks: 7$ mint tea served from thermos pump you would find in a budget hotel. Individual cocktails were good but avoid trap of group drinks; the pitcher of Dead Sea cocktail was not the same quality. Who serves tap water at 1* and what about offering bottled water? Bill came unsolicited. 8 percent service charge? Unexplained unless you ask. Missed the 1* star experience for 400$. There are better options in DC.
Be the first to ReplyCool place but under-delivers for the high price
Very nice design and group dining experience - you feel as if you’ve traveled to a local cool restaurant somewhere in the Middle East…. And the food is tasty and interesting. Especially liked the beet purée in the appetizers. It’s just way off in terms of price - to the point that it’s offensively overpriced for the food you receive. If you go just be familiar with pricing and do not sit outside in the tents where you would miss out on all the cool indoor ambiance.

I came with a friend for a good Mediterranean/ Middle Eastern style dinner. This was a good quality food. A bit pricey but atmosphere is good. Service was good.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Maydan Experience
Start by saying we live in Seattle. Washington and was visiting Washington DC. Maydan is situated off a side road. As you walk down to Maydan you wonder if the place is really any good. Then you see the nice outside table setup and you walked indoors to a small little area. Once they take you inside everything changes. It has an amazing setup and great vibe. And from there the real experience begins. They serve family style, on this day was our anniversary and the Executive Chef Darnell, knocked the experience out the park! The food was incredible, service was impeccable and Walker the General Manager walked around and spoke to every customer. At a table across from us was another couple celebrating their anniversary. They said they love this place. Put this on your “must do” list!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Place to Try Something New
I visited Maydan with my partner for our anniversary dinner! We looked through many difference DC dining options and were drawn in by the food and the very different menu of Maydan. We made reservations about a month in advance and were able to select a convenient time for us. We also opted for the Tawle Menu, adding in Lamb for the meat, and the Do you trust us for the drinks we prepaid for all of this at the time of the reservation making the day of a seamless experience from start to finish. We opted for indoor seating which had a lovely aesthetic and music as opposed to the pop-up tents outside. Our server Molly was incredible and explained the Tawle Menu and drinks to get us started. We enjoyed the first course of "Appetizers" if you can call them that, I would have filled up on those flavors alone. Each bite was completely different and left it up to us to try new and interesting combinations of the full spread. We loved the cocktails that started and ended our meal since we are big fans of Gin, however, the wine was okay, and did not play well with the variety of food flavors in the middle of the meal. The "Main Course" containing the steak, chicken, lamb and more sauces to try came just in time and we were able to enjoy a mixing of the two spreads all together. Every single thing we tasted was incredible. By the time we got to dessert we were so full it was the perfect evening of celebration without having to make any menu decisions or even see a check at the end of the night. We cannot thank Molly enough for being so kind and checking in on us throughout the evening as we celebrated our anniversary. We hope to be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyExperience Lives Up to the Hype
I looked forward to dining at Maydan for so long that I started to worry it would not be as good as I imagined. A review of Maydan is all about the food and service - wow to both. A lot of attention is paid to staff training. Everyone, servers and runners, know everything about everything on the menu, food and drink. Our party of four enjoyed all of the food served. We all ate a lot but there was a lot of food leftover. We had dinner together again the next night and enjoyed it just as much! The packaging of the leftovers was great! The extra pitas given to us with our leftovers were appreciated. Maydan for a true dining experience - it is all about the food and service!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Overall Dining Experience
What a fantastic dining experience. Our party of 4 visited for a friend's birthday. We pre-ordered the tawle lamb feast. All I can say is WOW. The sheer amount of food that we were provided was unreal and could've realistically served 8. But it's not the quantity that was important, it was the quality. The lamb itself was delicious-perfectly cooked and full of rich flavor. The many, MANY accompaniments were spectacular, with the standout here being the beet borani, chicken kebabs (seriously, the chicken was spectacular), and various pickles. The za'atar dirty martini was a nice variation on a classic cocktail. Service was top-notch from start to finish, informative and attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. The atmosphere and decor were welcoming and warm; interesting and eclectic without being distracting.
