A big disappointment
Like their new decor, hate their new menu, which cuts many old favorites. Ordered Scallops Meuniere and they brought Shrimp Meuniere instead. Sent it back, but what they brought as a replacement didn't resemble Scallops Meuniere. Basicly five scallops in a pile of mushrooms. I've been going to Mattucci's for 45 years and never had a bad meal until tonight. Very disappointing.

My wife and I dined there for the third time together. There is so much on the menu that we look it over before we go. I got the Coq que van the last time and it was fantastic! The stuffed trout is great too! I just can't say enough about the friendly staff and service too!

We have been going here for over 30 years. It’s not fancy. It is back room of a bar kinda place but the food and service are very good. We now live about an hour away but still return occasionally and it is always worth it.

On a recommendation we tried this establishment. We expected a wait, due to a spur of the moment dining decision and no reservations. We hit it lucky, less than a 5 minute wait to be seated and maybe another 10 to 15 to get waited on and place our orders. It was fairly busy. Rose got the breaded Veal and I went out on a limb and got Chicken Rollatini..Prosciutto and cheese, rolled in a chicken breast, in butter and bathed in Marsala wine sauce. From their web site we knew they made everything from scratch so we ate our salads and watched other diners orders being served...By looks alone, I KNEW we made a good dining choice. LARGE portions and appealing dishes flew by. The wait staff worked like a well oiled machine; and was pleasant and friendly besides. In a timely manner our food was served and I immediately knew we'd be going home with at least one 'doggie bag'. Our meat portions were large enough to occupy a large dinner plate with our sides served on the side on another smaller plate. Toss into the mix that we were served a manly portion of fresh baked bread and butter.... We both were in Food Heaven. As we were eating, I saw that we had arrived at just the right time as their business had picked up. I out did myself and cleaned my plate AND had room for coffee and cheese cake w/strawberry sauce. Rose did get a take-home container for half of her veal and had Apple Pie dessert with coffee. On top of the extremely Tasty meals, their home made desserts and their coffee were top shelf. In any event, we will be returning again to sample more of their menu offerings. This place is WELL worth the drive and cost.

First time visit for dinner with the family.
Quaint decor, laid back, fantastic Italian food.
Chicken with prosciutto and cheese, Alfredo, linguini and clams....all amazing.
Many folks just drive through Mt Carmel; next time, stop for dinner!
Disappointed
We’ve visited this restaurant many times through the years. It’s just not the place it once was. Service is always good but why do they not give you time to eat your salad before they are dropping your entree in front of you? Yes it was a slow night. Wednesday at 6:30 and maybe 2 other tables. My husband had a mix of meat and cheese ravioli with red sauce. I had my usual cheese ravioli with butter and onions. Unfortunately the entrees were lukewarm at best. The meat(ball) in the meat ravioli wasn’t even warm. No we didn’t complain, left a generous tip and went on our way. We will be hard pressed to return only when our “old” memory fails to recall this experience.
Be the first to ReplyI have a history with this restaurant.
I have been eating at Mattucci's restaurant since about 1950 when I lived in Mt. Carmel and every time I've visited since then. The restaurant has been family owned and operated since 1934! I was there last week with family and friends, and we had a delicious meal. Mine was the Seafood St. Jacques. All meals include a delicious side of pasta. It's a great value for the price.

Love Italian food? This is the spot great atmosphere, Great food. Hungry for just salad, pizza, subs or a full course meal they have it all. Or stop in for a beer

The atmosphere is quaint - typical of small Italian restaurants in the area. It was crowded on a Wednesday evening with several large groups (8 - 10 pleople) which resulted in it being rather loud. The food was OK. My steak sandwich tasted good but the bread was very dry. Even the bread in the basket the server brought when we sat down was rather dry.
The service was OK until the end when we waited about 15 minutes after getting the bill and the server was nowhere to be seen. So we left the money on the table and left.
Has been wonderful FOREVER!
Ate here last night for the first time in awhile {we've eaten here MANY times through the years}, and as always it was delicious! We had the manicotti and it was perfection! Love the atmosphere, the service, and most of all the foo! Can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyOld favorite, for pizza and a cold beer
Stopped in to pick up pizza on the way home from a visit to my coal region roots. Many great memories of meals and good times here. It was my first visit in about 15 yrs. Walking in was like greeting an old friend. Jason behind the bar immediately asked what he could do for me. After I ordered, Jason asked if wanted a drink while I waited. For the next half hour, watching NCAA football on the bar TV, I struck up conversations while the staff both served and socialized with their customers. Really glad that I decided that a pizza and beer at Mattucci's is what I needed to finish my visit. There is no where else like the coal region and no people like true coal crackers. Postscript: two hours later, we finished baking the large cheese pizza and savored every bite.
