Horrible food, not worth going
Ordered ceviche and it was definitely not ceviche. It was tasteless cooked shrimp with a bit of cucumber and tomato and tortilla chips. The food overall was so bad and they serve water in plastic cups which a) in that price segment makes no sense and b) is horrible for the environment. Only positive was the service, very friendly.

A few friends and I ate at Mar'sel while we were staying at Terranea resort. Overall, service was slow and food was just average, especially for the high price. We came when it was somewhat dark, so the beautiful setting was kind of lost. If you are going to go here, go during the daylight hours, because otherwise you are just looking at a pitch black ocean if you are dining outside. The menu is not huge, but we were a larger group and shared a bunch of items. The burrata appetizer was a total miss โ one of the smallest portions of cheese Iโve ever received, and it was covered in an Asian sesame dressing that totally overpowered the delicate flavor of the cheese. I was just eating sesame dressing. The lobster pasta was not an elegant dish and was covered in brown sauce so you couldnโt really tell the pasta from the lump lobster meat. The Shishito peppers were a good shared plate and probably the best food we had. Service was quite slow, even though the restaurant was not full. They stacked dirty plates next to everyoneโs ears as they cleared, which is fine at an IHOP, but not at a restaurant with these prices. Drinks took quite a while to come, even glasses of wine. The wine list is varied, but not deep. For the California options, there were not many good options and it just focused on large brands that the distributor has. Nothing unique, and not much local wine except a Catalina wine. As this is the premium restaurant for this resort, I was disappointed, but not surprised, as Terrenea itself was disappointing. Overall, the setting is pretty, but thatโs the only thing to recommend about this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyWaste of Time, Waste of Money.
Just had an anniversary dinner at Mar'sel. While the food was nice, it's definitely overpriced. However, I found that we were met with disrespect, left standing waiting on a table that was booked a week in advance. When seated, clearly being PC hasn't reached the Terranea resort yet. During the meal I decided I wasn't spending any further money at it, and left. Customer service training would be recommened for this lacklustre restaurant that depends on rushing people through their tables, and a view. The local Taco stand offered better service, and yes, I stopped there on the way home. Useless, and if anything they score high in, is homophobia.

Whenever I have a special dinner with adults I take them here. GORGEOUS views (we saw a pack of dolphins!) and the food and service are outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyA fabulous dining!
Wonderful dining experience. From the room, to the setting, to the service and of course the meal itself. Highly recommended.

While staying at the beautiful Terranea Resort, we decided to check out Marโsel for some drinks and we were so delighted that we did. The drink menu at Marโsel is a true testament to creativity and craftsmanship. Every sip was an explosion of flavors, meticulously crafted to perfection. Each drink was a work of art, beautifully presented with exquisite attention to detail. The service at Marโsel was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing their expertise. The overall ambiance of Marโsel is both sophisticated and relaxed, making it the perfect spot to unwind and indulge in remarkable drinks. Whether youโre looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply want to treat yourself to a memorable evening, Marโsel is the ultimate destination. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend paying a visit and experiencing the magic for yourself. Cheers to Marโsel and their incredible drinks that elevate the art of mixology!
Be the first to ReplyKiller cocktails! Yum!
Heard this place had a fantastic bar so we absolutely went to check it out. And the reviews were TRUE! Probably the best spicy Marg Iโve ever had. My husband and I went with another couple for drinks before our dinner reservations and this place did not disappoint. Ask for smoked margs!

Mar'sel is so special! The outside patio is amazing with panoramic ocean views. Our server Steven was so wonderful and manager Isvan made our night complete with complimentary champagne and checking on us often. The food was out of this world and my favorite was scallop risotto and filet. YUM! We will be back for sure!
Be the first to ReplyWish I new about Mar'sel sooner. I live in LA, but not sure how I missed being her sooner. I will be back!
First time here and was blown away by location, food and staff. Clearly the best kept secret in the South Bay / LA area. can't wait to be back to see friends or stay. We have a company retreat this fall, this is the place I will recommend!
Be the first to ReplySpectacular Mar'sel
Just spectacular! From the moment you arrive, they make you feel so special. I came to meet friends for impromptu dinner and it didn't disappoint. Our server Steven was graceful, personable and thoughtful. The menu is special and difficult to decide what to order. My favorite was the risotto and scallop. I would come back just for that. Views amazing and experience just so memorable!
Be the first to ReplyA great place for a special dinner
Spent my 65th birthday dining here with my family. Was not disappointed with the attention to detail and the delicious dishes. Only comment...go early as most guests dine before 8 and some dishes may be sold out. The white truffle pasta is a must-have! Terry our waiter went above and beyond to ensure we had the BEST experience. We will return!
Be the first to ReplyBest Service Ever
We dined two nights at marโsel and were so happy we did. The outdoor setting is unmatched and the service was outstanding. As always, we requested server JEFFREY BREEDLOVE. He made us feel like VIPs and even took the time to help us take family pictures. He always makes us feel welcomed like family. He, as well as David and Enrique, were so gracious and treated our special occasions with importance and excellent service. Request one of Jefferyโs tables ahead of time when you make a reservation and you will have an unforgettable night. We canโt wait to go back!

Wonderful location, wonderful view, excellent food and amazing personnel ( Jeffrey is the best!) we will come back soon!!
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and unimpressive
We went there for Sunday brunch with a reservation. The restaurant was perhaps 70% occupied. Service was okay, but not on par with the prices ($85).
The brunch menu is 3 course and very limited. Surprisingly bread (croissant) is considered a first course. Had the shrimp as a first course. Four medium shrimp on a bed of crushed ice that melted while I was eating it so I enjoyed wet shrimp with cocktail sauce. My vegetable frittata was baked in a round dish and was over cooked and dry. (Note; vegetable frittata is available at other restaurants on site for $22). No accompaniment, just a dish of dry frittata. I chose berries and cream for dessert - good fresh berries and a dollop of cream.
I do not recommend and would not return.
Local 5 star restaurant that never disappoints
Full disclosure, I have been a regular at Marsel since 2015. Nothing last forever especially great establishments. One thing that has not changed is the quality of service. We are welcome as family everytime we stop by. Always accommodating us even where there is a full commitment. A special highlight to Jeffrey (a long time server) and a young man by the name of Abe. Always professional, cordial and willing to serve for an enjoyable experience.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and excellent service
Mar'sel was the best restaurant we ate in, at Terranea. Service was professional, food very good, and view great. No complaints at all.
Be the first to ReplySo incredibly overpriced
If youโre lucky enough to get beyond the egregious prices at this place good luck enjoying your meal. The food is average, nothing to write home about. Only saving grace was our waiter Felix who made the experience enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Getaway October 2020
Celebrated my wifeโs Birthday at Marโsel, we had Prawns as appetizers, bread with butter and we had Seabass and lamb chops as main entree- our expectations is very high since this is a fine dining restaurant- my wifeโs cooking is much much better than the food we had that night ! But the service staff was very good and attentive to your needs ! The ambiance is awesome overlooking the Pacific Ocean
Be the first to ReplyFANTASTIC!
This was the first time I have been to Mar'sel and WOW my new favorite spot in the SouthBay. Although I have stayed at Terrenea many times have never experienced Mar'sel's and now know I have been missing out on something special! The service was perfect, view spectacular and food soooo delicious! There is not 1 thing I can offer in this review to improve on. All around experience the BEST!!! We will be back.
Be the first to ReplyPortion sizes will leave you hangry, but view is to die for
I came here as part of a bachelorette party. We spent the day at the spa, followed by dinner at mar'sel. You have to sit outside and have an early dinner to take in the gorgeous view here. The food was very good, but the type of place where they give teeny tiny portions that make you feel like you need to eat a snack somewhere else after your meal. Also, they charged me the full price of a cocktail for my mocktail (I was pregnant when I came here.) That seemed a bit ludacris to me. Come here to impress a date or to celebrate something.
Be the first to ReplyVery expensive , price like a 2star restaurant
Price to high! Price like a 2 star restaurant but the finest is far away. Also the winelist is overpriced. Crazy prices! Location is good.
Be the first to ReplyTucked away beauty
We had dinner and the food and wines are exquisite. The fish dishes and steaks are phenomenal. This is a winner.
Be the first to ReplyTHE ONLY EXCEPTIONAL THING IS THE PRICING!
Unfortunately - MAR'SELs has been trying to remake itself as a restaurant ever since Terranea opened......and sadly they still haven't found it yet! There really isn't find dining anywhere on "the hill".....which seems strange because it is one of the wealthiest per households area in the country!!??
So my advice is pack a pic-a-nick basket instead!
Unique and Fresh Cuisine
Not only is the food outstanding with a unique twist but the view is spectacular. The service was equally impressive. We will definitely return.
