Great Happy Hour
We truly enjoyed this fine looking restaurant. We ordered small dishes during their happy hour. We had ceviche tostadas and tacos with mole and barbacoa. The ceviche was on the spicy side but delicious. The drinks were reasonable and the service and ambiance were excellent.
Be the first to ReplyCute Oaxacan spot
Cute Oaxacan spot in Torrance with shareable dishes. Made a reservation for three online in advance and only were able to get seated once the entire party arrived. Free street parking as well as free underground parking. Restrooms were kinda hidden but there are paper signs. Credit cards accepted. Thereโs a bar area where you could only drink and indoor + outdoor, heated patio seating. We split a parrillada, which was a large plate that came with a small serving of rice, black beans, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas on the side. The chorizo was my favorite part, as was the melted Oaxacan cheese. There was carne asada and cactus as well. The food came out nicely charred and fairly quickly.

Stopped here in the way to LAX, food was very well prepared and presented. I had the spicy mole chicken enchiladas and they were great. Great ceviche also.
Be the first to ReplyA must try Mexican restaurant in Torrance
We heard about this restaurant in Torrence and wanted to try it out for awhile. This supposed to be a Bid Gourmand restaurant. So when they reopened with outdoor dining, we came here for dinner to give this Mexican restaurant a try.
The outdoor dining scene had a lot of lively vibes. When we got there by 6pm, the place was packed with people having dinner and drinks in the outdoor patio setting.
The foods were good and authentic. We ordered their famous MOLES with Chicken breast and fresh hand made tortillas. The sauce was very tasty with a bit of sweetness. The chicken breast was cooked to tender taste and it went well with the hand made tortillas.
Although it was not in the menu, I asked for the shrimp and chicken fajita combo. The restaurant cooked the dish for us and I was impressed with the flavor. The chicken was grilled to perfection and the shrimp was so fresh. I finished the whole dish and ended up been very satisfied.
The waiter tended our table gave us very good service. The food came out very fast after the order was taken.
Parking is easy for this restaurant with plenty of underground parking spaces.
Delicious food and a wide variety of mezcal and tequila
We met friends from out of town here for supper last night and we were pleasantly surprised by how friendly the waiter was and how extensive the selection of both drinks and types of mole was. Our waiter was more than willing to state what his favorite dishes on the menu were and to check on ingredients in the dishes since I have a food allergy.
We ordered guacamole and all four of us agreed it was the best guac we have ever had. I ended up ordering the fish because of my food allergy to wheat (many of the dishes, mole included contained flour) and it was served with a tamale and greens with walnuts and strawberries. It was very good. The rest of the table ordered a variety of mole in tamale, enchilada, or over cooked chicken parts and they loved their dishes.
Three us had the smoky margarita (made with mezcal) and we would recommend it. My husband had a cadillac margarita and he loved it so much, he had a second. :) We would definitely dine here again if we're in Torrance.
Free parking is under the building in a garage with designated spaces for the restaurant (and there were plenty of spaces available on this Tuesday evening.)
Great cocktails, great food, great atmosphere
Love this place. Have been wanting to go for a while and finally made it. The cocktails are delicious and exotic. Gotta go for the mezcal inspired classics. The menu is expansive and the food is delicious. Can't wait to go back to order different items. Service is attentive and effective. Lovely place, although there was a live band it was very loud...almost obnoxiously so.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, great spirit list
We donโt go to Mexican restaurants often. So maybe your above average one has a spirit list like this, but I doubt it. I would estimate at least 100 mezcals and tequilas. And a menu that was intimidating to this newbie. The servers in the bar were helpful and knowledgeable.
The food was good. I had a mamela and my husband the mole. Both great. I wished we came with a group so I could taste more.
I would downgrade it by a half point because we sat in the bar and there was dueling music. There were live performers in the main room but they kept blasting the music in the bar and it was distracting.
If Iโm down this way again I will come back.
What an Amazing Mezcal and Tequila Selection!
This is the kind of restaurant/bar that aficionados seek out. I have never seen a better mezcal selection, and the tequilas are top-notch. The old school tequila selection is well worth the trip alone! The food, with many traditional Oaxacan recipes, has something for everyone. Service was exceptional and the prices were representative of the care taken to present good food and a great bar. I'll be back!

I love the chips (the chips are thick and crunchy) and salsa and we started out with the tlayuda choriqueso which is kind of like a pizza without the sauce on a big chip. And it wasn't my cup o' tea but my boyfriend liked it. My boyfriend had the enchiladas de mole negro which he really liked and I had the chicken enchiladas mexicanas with green and red sauce and they were delicious. Our waitress was super friendly and very helpful. And, unbeknownst to us, they have live music on Thursdays and they were really good.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Negro Mole at Madre
I had a business lunch at Madre in Torrance. With an abundance of Mexican food choices there, Oaxacan sounded unique and interesting. Great choice! After sampling 2 different mole's with chips, I decided on the bolder negro mole vs. the coloradito, though I'm sure that I would have enjoyed the latter as well. What a complex, spicy but not too hot, aromatic wonder this was! Reminded me of a top notch restaurant specializing in mole in Puerto Vallarta years ago. Chicken leg was fall apart tender; rice nothing special, but the homemade corn tortillas? Should be against the law when eaten with the mole sauce and chicken! Not cheap but a nice splurge for such a hard to do dish.

We had Molcajete, Mexican stone mortar, and it's sala and meat in it. it's good! Since all seats are taken and we had no reservations, we ate at bar counter, and it's great atmosphere! They have live music, too!
