Top!
Beautiful reception, interior and kitchen! Definitely recommended. Not a big map. Fresh dishes, also for vegetarians
Be the first to ReplyCantonese street food in a contemporary eatery and bar.
Don't expect a classic kitschy Chinese restaurant, although a number of Chinese decorations have been integrated into a former industrial building. The British chef pays tribute to some Cantonese classics and presents a successful traditional food version, well seasoned and prepared with fresh ingredients. A place to return and enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyThe best food, drinks and service in Liverpool!
This was our second time visiting LuBan for bottomless brunch. This time was to celebrate mine and my partner’s engagement! We absolutely love it here, service is always impeccable. Special mention to Kayleigh (I think that’s her name) the host. A beautiful warm welcome and checked we were okay throughout. All servers were quick to get us another drink and even the manager (I think) was waiting on tables and delivering drinks! Was really nice to see! The food was to die for and the drinks, AMAZING! The ‘sweet not sour’ cocktail is to die for! We finished up our food early and a big table came and sat by us, the waitress seen it was getting loud and offered us to use our remaining time by the bar, which we did. The 3 bar men were lovely, making drinks and having a laugh was just lovely to see. Kayleigh again couldn’t do enough for us and when we told her we were celebrating our engagement she treated us to a free shot. We already can’t wait to come back! Thank you LuBan and your staff on 4/11 for making our special dinner even more memorable!
Be the first to ReplyDon’t believe the hype!
Visited LuBan with a group of friends for an evening meal, because we were a party of 11 we were told that we had to eat from a set menu, this wasn’t really made clear until we had actually sat down which was slightly misleading from when we booked. It’s a lovely looking restaurant but sadly the food was garbage, after forking out nearly £1500 for all of us i would expect to feel like I’ve eaten somewhere a cut above the rest but sadly my bills at nobu come in less and guess what, the food os way better, sliced cucumbers, and basic food will not bring me back. Don’t waste your time and believe the fake hype over this place because it really hasn’t got anything to offer.
Be the first to ReplyNot the Lu Ban we knew at all !!!!
Not at all what we had been expecting, we have eaten at this restaurant twice before and had no idea it had been taken over? It was up there as one of the best chinese meals we have had anywhere in the country, so you can imagine our surprise when we arrived there to be given a tiny menu that was a million miles from the last time we were there , the restaurant was half empty but we were told when we got there to wait as they were going to get our table ready , the food was very average and nothing like we had before, we ordered crispy beef and a steak arrived on a plate , when asked what it was we were told that was the crispy beef ????? We will definitely not be going back !!!!!

Be the first to ReplyLuban bottomless brunch
Went with friends for bottomless brunch, it was brilliant. The food was lovely and the drinks were constantly topped up. Great choice of drinks as well, beers, spirits and cocktails as well as wine and prosecco. Sui mais spring rolls to start and then a chilli beef main with rice. Couldn't fault the experience, staff were so attentive and lovely too. We'd definitely go again.

Be the first to ReplyNo sense of honour for the name Lu Ban
It’s impossible for me to write a review about the food at this restaurant as I have been unable to get a booking here. My husband and I were given £150 worth of vouchers for our birthdays in March. I’ve been trying to book only to find that the restaurant went into liquidation earlier this year, and the vouchers bought before that time are not being honoured. The restaurant have offered 25% discount if we still want to go and eat there but basically we then could have paid £300 less £37.50 discount. £262.50 for a meal for two would certainly leave a sour taste. Considering the restaurant is still operating under the same name of Lu Ban they should then surely honour the vouchers which were bought and gifted in good faith.

I’ve always had some reservations about visiting, which is why I had not tried before. However my wife was keen to try and a colleague had enjoyed a meal only a few weeks ago. Staff very friendly and well presented bar area. We waited only a short while to be seated at the table, which was completely wet when we arrived at it. Reassuring that it had been cleaned, but perhaps needs a reconsideration at seating customers until table actually ready. Glassware very nice. Wine selected, Montelpuciano - very good for the price. Started with the 5 flavour cucumber as a snack, which was pleasant. Next the hot and sour soup. One of my favourites in standard Asian restaurant. This one was a small portion, served lukewarm with about as much authenticity as a bowl of tomato soup. Very disappointing. Barbecue pork bao buns were nice. Main courses we chose the sea bass with aromatic broth and the salt and pepper cauliflower with a side order of jasmine rice and noodle fries. The noodle fries were tasty. Jasmine rice lacked seasoning completely. The sauce with the vegetarian dish was tasty enough but the cauliflower was over cooked and had turned soft, almost a slush. The sea bass was extremely bland. Very under seasoned and altogether not that pleasant to eat, with a broth that failed to deliver with the aromats that were promised on the menu. I added chilli oil to see whether that would bring it back to life, but…… All in all a very disappointing meal. If you want authentic Asian flavours this place is to be avoided. Very expensive bill for what was on offer. I honestly believe that I make better Asian cuisine at home and it certainly lacks more of a punch with flavour.

Second time visiting Lu Ban the food is incredible. I look the in laws who are not from Liverpool and they commented on how friendly our city is with a family feel to customer service! Thanks to Jess our waitress who was very attentive! WOULD RECOMMEND x10!

Some of the items advertised on the online menu were not available - Char Sui Pork is still online but removed from the restaurant menu Waiter recommended some dishes without being promoted but without checking first if we had an allergies or dislikes. My OH doesn’t eat fish but she wasn’t aware due to showing little interest in what we actually like and continued to recommend things he wouldn’t eat. Starters - the ribs are a plentiful starter although very fatty. The scallops are lovely but a very small portion for the price. Mains - the lucky no. 8 beef fillet was really nice and the only dish I would recommend. As they didn’t have the Char Sui Pork we opted for the replacement on the menu of Sweet & Sour pork, again a very small portion. Sides of noodles and rice were fine. We opted not to have a desert as the options weren’t to our taste. I had mocktails due to being pregnant and they virgin mojitos were nice enough. Service overall was slow. 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 cokes and 2 virgin mojitos £140 5/10 experience wouldn’t return.

I’ve been to Lu Ban a couple of times now for the dinner on a Saturday and bottomless brunch. Our latest visit in February was good, but there could have been some improvements: food was really tasty (particularly the egg fried rice) but might expect some slightly larger portions for the price. Wine also lovely. In terms of service, our waitress was lovely and really helpful. However it was slightly odd that when we arrived, the front of house didn’t just invite us to take a seat at the bar but commented “they’ve been slow clearing tables so you’ll have to wait at the bar.” We only had to wait for 5 minutes and it wasn’t a problem so I don’t know why we needed to know this detail. We also didn’t get our coats taken immediately. Again, not a massive problem but a detail you expect in an expensive restaurant. Also we were told there would be a wait on our mains and the impression was given that there were problems in the kitchen but I didn’t think our mains took that long! I guess it’s inevitable that there would be stresses on a busy Saturday but front of house could have run a little bit more smoothly, given the cost.
