Escaped to Manhattan Beach for a dessert and drinks after dinner on a Wednesday night, and booked a reservation for 8:45pm.We came in at 8:40 and were seated immediately in a busy crowd with a nice bar set up and tables across the entire restaurant in a beautiful, modern ambiance. Yvette, our waitress was amazing: very personal, gave us many recommendations, and truly cared for us. We got a cocktail each, with myself getting a Manhattan Sour and my partner getting the mezcal-based Comodoro. Both were absolutely delicious. We then sided with the Tiramisu for dessert which was tender, rich in coffee taste, with a creme that was not too sweet. Overall, a great experience and I cannot wait to return for a full dinner!

I didn't have many dishes since I dined at the bar by myself. But what I had was really good! - the arugula frisée salad was simple yet the dressing made it really great, the right balance with acidity, very fresh!- the meatballs were excellent! 3 in one dish and the sauce was delicious and had grated cheese in it. They did also serve a little side of ricotta with it, and toasted bread. So simple and yummy!- 3 nice options for mocktails that all had kombucha as the base. Really good!

Did try this place because we heard the pizza is great but we were disappointed, portions were small , food was cold, and service was not pleasant, we did not get our food at the same time and when I asked where is the rest of the food she gave me attitude, not nice at all, we will not come back too bad

We came to Love and Salt got the first time tonight and I can't say enough about great it is. First off serving staff was oh so nice and patient with my 1 year old daughter who threw up and then dumped a plate of pasta on the floor. Not only were they friendly but so attentive and helpful for us parents. The food was all very good. My wife loved her halibut, the mussels I had were amazing, and the pasta bolognese very good. There was a problem with my moms pasta not being warm enough but staff made it right. Great restaurant.

Our food was excellent, especially the halibut. The service and atmosphere were great. We enjoyed the conversational hum to the ambiance.

Our favorite restaurant in Manhattan Beach, especially for a date night. Get the bone marrow pasta and duck egg pizza, and request to sit at the chefs table! You can watch bar side as the chefs prepare the meals.

one of the best italian places in manhattan beach just a short walk from the beach! weird but they have the best tap water in LA i swear! definitely get the duck egg pizza and the bone marrow pasta! The pickled veggies are delicious as well.

Very New York vibe. Must order don't lie to me! Best drink ever!!!
Be the first to ReplyPROS: Much like the service, the food was great.
I couldn't have been more satisfied with everything we ate. We started with the meatballs and the Japanese sweet potatoes (which was recommended by our waiter) and a great recommendation it was. We were a group of 4 and each ordered our own dishes, but I recommend sharing, because who doesn't like to try a little bit of everything. The tagliatelle bolognese was the first main dish to come out, which paired nicely with the extra sourdough we had from the meatballs. We decided on two pizzas the Japanese Mushroom Pizza and the Margherita Pizza. The Margherita pizza came out first and we added arugula, the ingredients were fresh and the pizza had a crispy crust (we asked for well done) satisfying, but very similar to most restaurants. The Japanese Mushroom Pizza took a little longer to make and the server brought us a bowl of spaghetti Al limone as a courtesy. The Spaghetti was perfectly Al dente, probably one of the better Al dente pastas I've ever tried. The sauce lacked some spice, but good to know they do not over do it by trying to add flavor. The Japanese mushroom pizza was delicious and worth the wait. I wish I could have got a good picture, but the lighting wouldn't have done it justice. We unfortunately skipped on dessert because the food was quite filling, but will be looking forward to trying it next time. CONS: Make a reservation, because the night we went they were no longer taking walk-ins due to the high volume of customers. Manhattan beach near the beach does not always have the best parking situation as it can get quite busy, especially on a Saturday Night. My recommendation is to arrive at least 15 mins before your reservation to find a spot and arrive to the restaurant on time. They do not open until 4:30pm and at the start of the shift (our reservation was at 5) it did not seem like they had enough staff to seat and serve customers in a timely manner. The reservations are booked, because the host who sat us mentioned there was a party arriving at 6:15 and needed the table once we were done. I thought this was a little weird for her to mention this especially waiting a good 15 minutes outside to be seated, but I understood since we did arrive 10 mins after the reservation time. The space is small in the indoor space so it is a little crowded, if you do not like small places I recommend sitting outside. Overall satisfied with the experience (especially the food) and look forward to dining here again.

Their pasta dishes are amazing. The outside tables during the summertime are my favorite.

We got the spicy soppressata pizza and the Rigatoni All'Amatriciana pasta. The pizza was delicious. Great sauce and even better crust. Right amount of saltiness and heat. Pasta was also bomb. The cookery of the noodles was top notch. The cocktails were nothing to write home about, but still yummy. I think I'd rather have a Diet Coke tho next time. Overall really enjoyed this place and will be back

We eat here on a regular basis, and we enjoy the fennel salad and last night the pasta with fennel sausage was delicious. We were shocked at the prices for a plain margarita. I did not call the brand of tequila. We were charged a total of $18 for this drink. My husband ordered a martini and he specified the gin, and told me the total was $24 for his drink. Frankly it feels like price gouging. So my rating of the food is very high, although the drinks were very good, the prices were outrageous.

If you have great ingredients all you need to add is some love and salt and you have something special. Great pies and interesting specialty pies like the dick egg. Friendly owner, Appetizers are excellent and also creative. After you eat walk a few blocks to the Manahttan Beach pier and the Pacific.

I heard this place was known for its pizza and happened to be visiting on National Pizza Day. What a treat? Except no sooner had I sat down that the waitress said that they couldn't make pizzas because the chef had messed up the dough. Somehow, however, the three tables around me all had pizzas delivered over the next 15 minutes. Truly bizarre experience. The short rib ragu was good though.

I called at 4 PM on a Sunday night, asking (nicely!) for a table for 4 at 5:30 PM. They could have just said no because they had a full house and honestly, a restaurant of their reputation just doesn't even need to care. But they do care, and I am truly touched by the treatment I received. The hostess transferred me to directly to the manager, and she told me she would simply shuffle some tables around, so kindly, as if this weren't a huge inconvenience. The service continued to be stellar after we arrived. An attentive server, who allowed us to ponder indecisively over the menu multiple times, delivered our food and kept the drinks flowing.Even the bread here is addictive. They have a thick, crusty Fett'unta, covered in olive oil with a huge hit of garlic. Salt Spring Mussels are savory with a sausage broth, and the Whole Roasted Branzino tastes like it just came out of the sea. A simple-sounding Rigatoni all'Amatriciana has a gorgeous, deeply-grooved pasta and a tangy tomato sauce.Break the egg on their signature Duck Egg Pizza, and let the gooey yolk wrap around the bits of bacon-pancetta and shaved potato.Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch completes the meal - like a high-end Nutty Buddy but so much better. I was fond of Love & Salt the first time, but I didn't fully appreciate them like I do now. The consistent delivery of fabulous flavor and quality is indisputable, and they're stood the test of time. Their food is as relevant now as it was when they burst in brand-new, and I will never stop loving Love & Salt!

This place has quality food! I highly recommend stopping by love and salt. I've been many times for dinner and brunch. However, I'm not sure they do brunch anymore. Their dinner is sooo good. Italian but not too heavy. I highly highly recommend the fennel salad and the drink with the red pepper in it Due to covid they still have outdoor seating which is so nice!
Be the first to ReplyReally good food but bad service.
We were there for 2.5 hours, not because we wanted to be, but because the service took FOREVER
