Making new animal friends
This was such a cool experience. We didn’t realize it was a short walking tour but with the most up close and personal experiences with the rhinos and giraffes. Worth every cent for the tour. It would be amazing for families with kids.

Absolutely a must to visit if you love animal encounters and conservation. What a gorgeous ranch just a few minutes outside of Fredericksburg, TX! The animal handlers are so informative and fun. The animals are magnificent! I took my grown daughter and two young grandchildren and we all loved our visit!

We went to Longneck specifically for the giraffes but also fell in love with the rhinos. It was an amazing experience and our two tour guides were funny and extremely knowledgeable. We learned so much about these amazing animals. We are going back next year because two of the females are pregnant and will give birth at the end of 2024.

Good: * location; easy to find * parking * instructions for getting to the tour Great: * friendly & knowledgeable staff * tour was informative * meeting & feeding the giraffes & Justin the rhino was amazing! Not so great: * the $95 tour price per person. However, it was worth it!

We had such an incredible experience! Took the grandkids over Spring Break. They thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot. Monica was very knowledgeable and informative. Will be going again in the future as they intend to add several more animals in the coming year.

One of the best vacations I've ever had. We stayed two nights in the Simba villa. To wake up and have rhinos and giraffes outside your room is really incredible. To see these animals freely grazing on so many acres, to see them up close, and be able to feed and pet them is as close to safari as it gets. it's nothing like a zoo; they're just not comparable experiences. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgable, the experience is intimate as there are only 5 villas, the villas are very big and first class, and this is a 5013c so your money is going to a great cause (conservation and species reproduction). You're only 10 minutes from Main St Fredricksburg which is full of restaurants. We're lucky to have this place in Texas.

What a fabulous experience. My husband and I were in town for our son's Airforce graduation. We took the day after graduation to visit this heaven on earth. The experience was wonderful, educational and so much fun. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. We would recommend this day trip to everyone.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful morning spent with giraffes and rhinos!
While we were not overnight guests, we visited this beautiful and clean property on a lovely Saturday for the 10:09 am 90-minute tourand were immediately directed to a ‘viewing’ deck where 3 of the four giraffes on-property gathered for their vegetable treats from us! The two young women who were our guides were extremely knowledgeable about not only the habitat but especially the animals and they allowed our tour group ample time to feed and commune with the giraffes and the rhinos! While the giraffes do not like to be touched, the rhinos loved being stroked! We finished the tour with a visit to the small but well-curated gift shop! It was a great experience!

A unique and amazing experience. Had close encounters and fed their four giraffes, pet and fed 4,000 pound rhinos, fed and learned about Bruno their sloth. Staff was amazing and very informative. Met the owner and had a personal tour with a staff member who has years of experience in caring for and working with zoo animals. She new every detail about the animals, the animal's care and the facility. The accommodations are amazing. New, clean and with a true African safari design and feel. Only a 10 minute drive to downtown Fredericksburg. Staff was helpful in giving local restaraunt recommendations and they were super friendly. If you want to try something different, this is the place!!!

We just returned from an incredible two night stay at Longneck Manor and we’re still in awe at the experience. From top to bottom LNM is a top of the line experience and combined with their sincere and dedicated conservation mission a world class attraction - here in the heart of a Texas. As residents we experienced a curated wonderful interactive experience with the 4 rhinos, three rhinos and Bruno the sloth. Everything about the experience puts the animals welfare and health first and the staff truly love and appreciate their “job”. Our guide was Shelby and she was a wealth of knowledge and no question was so tiresome. We learned to much (and have already been on a safari in the Serengeti). The animals are very friendly and enjoy their human interaction without anything being “forced”. The whole setup is a labor of love for Rick Barongi, a long time animal conservationist and zoologist. He has done wonderful things here. New aspects are getting added over the next couple of years so we can’t wait to return. The 4 villas are sensational and the decor is very African and beautifully done. The beds are comfy and luxurious and you have a full equipped kitchenette with a big fridge for keeping food and drinks. The rooms also have an outdoor patio where you can sit, chill out with a wine and just watch the animals amble about their area which includes and African style water hole gathering area. Monica runs the day to day operation and was awesome to deal with and we felt like friends when we left - everyone though is also doing great work either up front or behind the scenes.

This was an amazing experience! Everyone was so kind and inviting. We learned so much about Rhinos and Giraffes. The work done here is incredible and the love the staff has for the animals is as clear as day. We came for my mother's birthday and they truly made her dreams come true. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. Please make the time to visit you won't regret it. Also please contribute to their cause, they really are making a difference and the donations really do go to the animals.

What an experience! We loved Longneck Manor! This is a very special place in the Texas Hill Country that offers safari like accommodations and unique encounters with their giraffes and rhinos. There's also a sloth! My husband and I have lived and traveled in Africa since 1995 and this is a great opportunity to experience Africa in our own backyard in Texas. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom villas and what a gorgeous accommodation! Very well appointed and there are rhinos and giraffe in your backyard! Every detail is well thought out. The most special part of Longneck Manor is the giving back to conservation to help save these magnificent animals. Rick the owner and visionary to this project is so nice and very engaging. He's hands on and was there throughout our visit. In the morning we saw him with his beautiful labs Drifter and Boone getting to work to get things going on the property. As for the others that work at Longneck Manor, every individual was so friendly and very informative. Each member of the staff is a wealth of information and eager to answer any questions we had. Leah, Samantha, Reed, Shelby and Val are all exceptional. I didn't get to meet Heather, as she was offsite for our visit, but we spoke many times over the phone and she was extremely helpful. We were treated so well and felt at home. We took our brother and sister in law for the weekend and they were thrilled! They now have a taste of Africa and a greater love for these beautiful animals. No matter where you live a visit to Longneck Manor is a must! A tour or an overnight adventure will not disappoint. The location is perfect and a short drive to the heart of Fredericksburg for enjoying shopping and dining along with visits to the many wineries, breweries and distilleries in the area. One thing for sure is we will be back! Highly recommend! Thank you Rick and the entire staff for making our weekend so special!

What an amazing experience and organization this is! We had a fabulous time on the tour meeting the rhinos and getting to feed the giraffes. They keep the tours small, which makes the experience so much more personal. The staff here are wonderful and you can tell how passionate they are about their work. We will definitely visit again!

This was a 10 out of 5!! What an unbelievable experience! We were able to interact with the giraffes, white rhinos and a sloth! Probably one of the coolest trips we have ever taken!

Excellent, hands on informative tour visiting the rhinos and giraffe barn. I'm always a bit leery visiting establishments housing exotic animals, but Longneck Manor is owned by a former Houston Zoo Director (with an impressive resume prior to that) and has an educated, experienced staff. It was incredible to hand feed the giraffes and rhinos and as I fed them I learned a steady stream of interesting facts. I read the website's Animal Facts sheets and did some online research before arriving but as my visit proceeded learned so much more! 90 minutes of relevant fun facts! Reed led my tour but the other employees assisted in making my visit as special as possible. Greatly enjoyed my experience, thanks to each of you for your contributions!

My family had so much fun at the Long Neck Manor this past weekend! We enjoyed every minute! Reed and Heather were fabulous! Very knowledgeable and welcoming! My son and I waited out the sweet baby, and she finally let us feed her! My 10 year old will never forget it! We will be back for sure!

We absolutely loved the experience. We met Fred the Rhino and were able to touch him and we also met all the Giraffes, fed all of them and got a painting from Kafele the 16ft Giraffe. The tour guides were all great, informative, very patient and passionate.

Our guides Leah & Reed were absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable about all of the giraffes and rhinos. We had such a great time meeting Barney, Fred, and Justin, was a once in a lifetime experience!

I knew I’d get close but I didn’t realize how close! Great experience all around… provides an up close and personal experience where you gain a whole new application for these animals.
Be the first to ReplyRhinos and giraffes oh my!
This place was just AMAZING. The workers here are so knowledgeable and you can tell how much they care for these animals. Usually I am not a fan of supporting places where the animals are "trapped" but this place was very educational and the animals are well taken care of. They even live longer here than in the wild so that's really awesome! The 2 girls working here (ahhh, i forgot their names) were awesome. They taught our group so much about rhinos and giraffes! The tour is an hour and a half and i was really just expecting a walk thru of some sort. Maybe getting to pet them or something but was def not expecting the amount of information we received during this tour!! Extremely interesting, my 10 year old loved it. It was small group, just 10 of us which was a great number. Not too crowded and everyone got a chance to be a part of everything without having to rush. The property is extremely clean, the office area, the restroom, the areas for the animals, the barn area, very very clean. It didnt even smell like animals! There are 3 giraffes and 3 rhinos here at Long Neck Manor. We got to pet Justin, the big rhino and boy was he a sweetie. I am a total rhino lover now. And you will not believe how soft his skin is!!!! No joke! His face skin is so soft, he guarantee has a great skin care routine haha!! His body area is rough but i was definitely surprised at how soft his face and the area by his legs were. We didnt get to pet the giraffes but we did get to feed them! After spending some time outside with the rhinos and the 2 giraffes, they took us inside the barn area to see the pregnant giraffe whose name is Betty White!! Yes! After the actress! So, Betty was due to give birth pretty much any day now and i was really hoping it would be in the next hour or so while we were there but it did not happen. But she was so cute! We got to go on the top floor so Betty didnt have to bend down like the other 2 giraffes to get their food so it was really cool to see how tall she was! Lots of opportunities to take photos with these incredible animals so you can have these pics to remember what a great time you had here! There is a gift shop inside the office where you can even buy paintings that the animals did. Booking this experience is super easy. Just go online and choose the day and time you want to go. There are 2 tours a day. If you are lucky enough, you can even book the giraffe suite to stay in!! They are pretty booked into 2024 but you can find a random day here and there if you keep checking. It is pricey but im certain that it will be a stay you will never forget!

Wow, I don't know how to put this experience into words. Staff was so nice, super knowledgeable and loved their job. I don't know what else to say other than, I got to pet a Rhino!!! I mean enough said. Plus your money goes to help this amazing dying species. Fred was our rhino and he was so sweet, you get to pet him from different angles and learn so much. Really really cool experience 10/10 recommend, especially to families.
