Rustic Italian Resaurant
We finally made our way to this essential rustic Italian restaurant in Tribeca. Housed inside the Robert Di Nero owned Greenwich Hotel. Although we waited 45 minutes for our table with a reservation, we still left very happy. The service was excellent, the decor was charming, and the food was incredible. We ordered the following: -SHEEP'S MILK RICOTTA -STEAK TARTARA PIEMONTESE: prime-aged wagyu beef, hazelnuts, black truffle. The truffle really came through and I loved it. Definitely an unique take on the classic tartare. -TONNARELLI CACIO E PEPE: may not be for people that are sensitive to salt. The pasta is simple but very tasty - reminded me of Italy. -MEZZE RIGATONI: lamb bolognese, sheep's milk ricotta, mint. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was mouthwatering. -DRY-AGED NY STRIP STEAK: served with polenta fritta & salsa verde. We were pretty full by the time steak was served but we still took a taste. The steak was cooked to perfection but needed to be paired with the polenta and salsa verde in the same bite to capture a burst of flavor. Oh, we also ordered cocktails just cannot recall the names right now. They were great though. We are really happy that we chose this restaurant for our celebratory dinner.

Warm atmosphere. Nice wine list with an impressive selection from all over Italy. Very good food. Friendly and careful service.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Dinner
I was visiting New York City on holiday and I had some family who lived in the area. So they organised to meet me one evening for dinner and it was decided I'd have my birthday dinner here On arrival we didn't have to wait too long for our table as it had been reserved in advance. And I was extremely happy as a whole as were my family The food was of excellent standard as were the drinks. And the prices were quite reasonable too as was the excellent service from the staff I would be more than happy to eat here again should i ever revisit Manhattan in New York City.

We had a wonderful brunch. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the best I've ever had. The caprese frittata was delicious. The drinks were good and so was the ambience.

I can only comment on the breakfast offering. It was extremely poor 3 of us ordered scrambled eggs All had large chunks and were dried out. The smoked salmon was dry , thick and had all the black marks on it. Chef never even bothered to cut it out. Bacon was thick , fatty and dried out. Definitely not crispy. Coffee was luke warm and not great Orange juice was fresh and good. Definitely one to avoid.

This was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in the city, and twelve years later, it still doesn't disappoint. I always order a pasta dish, and they've always been delicious. And the atmosphere in the restaurant is always cozy and lively.
Be the first to ReplyBuffet-style reheated pasta is not worth $34, no matter how good martinis are
Went here for dinner the other day. Some food was great - some food was comically bad, even after sending it back. The pasta tasted like something you'd get from a lunch buffet in midtown that's been standing around for a few hours. We suspect they forgot our food standing around under a heat lamp - because the pasta along the edges of the plate had gone dry and hard, but the pasta in the middle had the right consistency. Having to wait a long time was also a give-away. We sent it back - and got new plates quickly. A little too quickly, I think. It had the same issue - likely they just heated our plates some more, and added some more sauce, and called it a day. We should have sent it back again as we realized, but at this point we were starving. So instead we paid $34 each for buffet-style reheated pasta and ragu. We got one dessert comped - but not worth it. Never coming back - which is a shame because it used to be a favorite place. The martinis were good though, hence 2 stars. Arguably one of the worst upscale dining experiences I've had in NYC

Went for brunch. Restaurant was full so we sat outside under one of the canopies. Took a while to get going and took even longer to get the bill at the end. Think weโre having some staffing/technical issues. Anyhow, the bit in the middle was very good. Italian inspired brunch, I had uova moderno which was very good. Food very good.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, mediocre service
Went here for brunch on Sunday, when the line at Bubbyโs was too long. Nicely appointed room with elegant ambiance. 90 minute wait for a table, so we opted for immediate seating at the bar, which was fine except for all the cold air blowing into the restaurant when customers opened the door. Frittatas were excellent although at $24 I was surprised we had no toast. Coffee service very slow and had to ask for milk. I certainly wasnโt full when I left despite finishing my meal.
Be the first to ReplyFood & Ambiance are Amazing!
I've been speaking to people who love this place and they are not wrong. The vibe is great, food is even better and overall great experience! I am excited for my next dinner date here!
The sheep's milk ricotta was a 10/10!
Mostly good food, spotty service
We stayed at the hotel and it was a very good experience. Brunch at Locanda was mostly good, but some lapses for a high level Italian restaurant. 2 plates of pasta on the table, one homemade and sauced perfectly, the other (rigatoni) over-cooked, not close to al dente, with a forgettable lamb sauce. Polenta was perfect, complimenti! Cookies also forgettable, expected better. Service was not great, given the caliber of the restaurant, but knowing that getting employees in the pandemic is difficult, we have to be reasonable in our expectations. The only serious criticism is that in 1 whole week of breakfasts, I had only one properly made caffรจ latte. Not one cup was like another and most were not good (several were bitter). An Italian restaurant should make a consistently good cup of coffee. I am Italian, and think that is a reasonable expectation. Otherwise lovely setting in the courtyard.

Had dinner at this restaurant for a friendโs birthday. We were a group of 5.
Service was very slow and not attentive (it took us almost 3 hours to finish dinner - 2 of the 3 hrs was mostly waiting to get food or drinks).
Place is overpriced taking into account food quality/taste and service.
Would probably not come back.
Hot summer night Dinner
Had absolutely delicious steak tartare and a beat and plum salad, strawberry parfait with poppy seed cake. Loved all!!
There is an herb they used in both salad and tartare that I LOVE.
Cockroaches Restaurant
Cockroaches on our chair, rudest manageress ever, regular customers we are and the is very often served almost cold, we were told that we complain all the time about the food: Wrong answer, bad attitude waiters, vulgarity and rudeness , we ll never go back there again, we hate liars and we hate cockroaches
