Disappointing family diner.
Very Skimpy dishes. Daily special Ciopino had some shellfish, but almost no fish in the casserole. Not worth the price. Many ether choices are available in Danville.
Be the first to ReplyA nice, decent place with good food.
Delicious Italian food, good wine, nice ambiance and prompt service. Thoroghly enjoyed dinner to celebrate an important family event.
Be the first to ReplyConsistently enjoyable!
Although I prefer their Layfatette location (ambiance), the food at Locanda is always good and the staff is very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect romantic dinner spot!
Beautiful quiet outdoor seating on a side street in Danville. Elias, our server, added to the overall tremendous experience by providing excellent service, very friendly and warm hearted. The food was amazing, drinks and wine too notch!
Be the first to ReplyNice outside seating area and good food
We have been here a couple of times before but I never wrote a review! This time we decided to enjoy their HH menu. The menu was great and what a price performer!! Their location in Danville is very peaceful ad not right on the main drag. They have nice seating inside, outside and along the sidewalk in front. This time we sat outside on the walkway and enjoyed the sunshine.
We ordered:
- HH prosecco and Pinot Grigios – all nice and $5 per glass
- 1 Pizza Margarita – cooked perfectly, nice crunch on the crust with a little chew $9
- - Seasonal salad $9
- Shishito peppers – amazingly HUGE portion took most of it home $9
- 1 Margarita pizza with pepperoni $9
Everything was delicious and cooked to our liking. Would love to return here to try their entrees. Highly recommend!
Our favorite Neapolitan/Italian
Our favorite Neapolitan/Italian restaurant in the Bay Area! The staff is friendly and the food authentic. We highly recommend the pizzas, the branzino and the carbonara pasta!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food with authentic flavors and ambiance
Outstanding food with authentic flavors, ambiance and service. Couldn’t be more satisfied by the level of service and quality of the food and drinks. Exceptional serving size for the hungry.

You have to try the lasagne. It is amazing. My wife loved the Strozzapreti. This is now our goto Italian restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyThe pizza was tasteless
The pizza was tasteless and soggy
The claim had sand in them. The Eggplant parmesan too much sauce no mozzarella mushy and over cooked.
Nice italian lunch spot
Nice outdoor seating for warmer days. Indoor very light and friendly. Three of us had a very nice lunch. Service was perfect and italiano spoken. Menu not very large but suited our tastes. Pizzas looked delicious and I will order that next time.
Be the first to ReplyA Disappointing High-Priced Pizza Joint
I would rate the Locanda Ravello as “Poor” based on the extremely disappointing level of service, the lesser quality of the food and the overall attitude of the management. Our group of nine had chosen the restaurant for a family celebration which was tarnished by the experience. I have traveled extensively in Europe (including Italy) and South America, as well as San Francisco and New York, and I have to admit that I have not encountered this level of service in quite some time.
The setting and the restaurant itself are pleasant. We were seated in the front room facing the street which is a premier spot. The only slight downside was that the room was somewhat chilly and it was not until midway through the meal that someone thought to turn up the heat.
Although Locanda bills itself as a pizzeria, we decided to dine there because they did have regular Italian fare on their menu which is what most people wanted. Two individuals in our group did order a pizza which was okay, nothing special. The one non-pizza offering that we really liked were the brussel sprouts which were excellent, however everything else was disappointing. The more expensive lobster ravioli was poor; the stuffing was a mush that offered no hint of lobster and the sauce seemed like it came out of a can. The sauce of the melanzane parmigiana tasted like it came out a can and seemed different than what some in our group had tasted before there. The branzino was average to poor in taste and preparation. The pasta in the beef ragu special was properly cooked and tasty, but the beef was stringy.
The service was unsatisfactory to say the least. The server (Nico?) who was Italian and had limited ability in English, should have been relegated to the back of the house because he struggled to describe the entrees. Once he took our order he disappeared for most of the rest of the meal which is a mistake for a large group with varying needs. The first courses to be shared at the table did not include serving utensils which we had to ask for. Nobody offered parmigiana cheese for the various dishes and we had to ask again. Nobody water refills were offered. To add insult to injury, the final bill included a charge for a dessert that we did not order.
I am generally reluctant to write a negative review, but in this case I felt like I should given my experience at Locanda last week. Most of my reviews are positive because I generally research the place before I go and even speak to the restaurant ahead of time if possible. In this case, I did consult TA noting that the reviews were quite positive and I also stopped by this place ahead of time to check on the seating and other arrangement. I was underwhelmed by the friendliness of the manager initially and was surprised by his total lack of concern and regret when after the meal when I asked to speak to him about our experience. As a consultant in customer satisfaction, I have found that almost all restaurant managers appreciate feedback (positive and negative). Honestly, I felt disrespected by the attitude of this guy and the server. Let’s hope that this was a one off experience.
Disappointing......
We started off with the octopus appetizer which was loaded with potatoes and marinara sauce. Not good. I had the branzino filets for my entree and it was baked at a high temperature or in broiler. The edges were brown and crusty and the fish was dry. This is a very delicate fish best cooked whole or if filets then sautéed. Pricey at $32. My wife ordered a pasta with sausage and green peas. Flavor of the pasta was good but very, very small amount of sausage bits scattered throughout. Service was average, not very attentive.

Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Neapolitan cuisine
There a few places in Northern California that can produce a dining experience that takes you to the Costa Amalfitana with cuisine, service and ambiance. Their original restaurant in San Carlos was very good, but their Danville location is excellent.
The restaurant sits on the corner of a quaint street with much to see and do. It was a beautiful day. We were pleasantly greeted and requested seating in their quaint outdoor seating area. Indoor seating was also available. There are two bar areas o enjoy a predinner drink if you need to wait for your table. Service was prompt friendly, and personable. Our server was from Florence and contributed to our enjoyable dinner.
We started with Aperol spritz and a delicious bottle wine from Ravello for dinner. We shared the traditional octopus and potato in tomato. The octopus was extremely tender. The special sea bass was perfectly cooked, and the pasta with clams, garlic and cherry tomatoes was perfectly prepared. No pool of butter sauce that you may get elsewhere. We also had their Neapolitan style margarita pizza.
Although I will not ding them with my rating, I do want to bring to their attention two improvement opportunities. The young lady that refilled our water classes wore a strong perfume that each time she passed was a slight disruption. Lastly, with Neapolitan pizzas it a fine line between a traditional wet pizza and that is undercooked. Ours was the later slightly but flavorful. I have had many pizzas with them and in Naples, and this was not typical.
All in all, for a fun and delicious experience, I highly recommend them.
