Best service and food in Maui.
From the A5 Wagyu Handroll to the Wagyu Kalbi Short Ribs to the Pandan Bread Pudding. I can't say enough about the flavors of each dish and the attention to detail by both chef and service staff. A relaxed atmosphere with great music to boot. I've been to pretty much every restaurant in Maui...Lineage is tops.
Be the first to ReplyThis is hands-down, our favorite restaurant in Hawaii.
Every time we come to Maui, we think we should try a new restaurant but we end up coming back to Lineage multiple times (and of course, the obligatory Tin Roof lunch upon landing and prior to returning to airport). We have tasted through almost every dish on the menu over the past few years and seriously every single one is a wow wow wow. We love the flavors, the preparation, the presentation, and the inspiration of each dish. The quality of the ingredients is clear. Definitely come hungry so you can have cocktails and dessert as well. As much as we love the food, the real stand out is the service. Every employee we have ever encountered is a lovely human, super professional, and truly passionate. A meal at Lineage is a truly immersive experience and frankly a must do on Maui right up there with Molikini Crater, Haleakala Road to Hana, etc.

But dine in ONLY! Beware of take out! My fiancée and I loved this place for our anniversary. We wanted to try something we'd never tried before on Maui, and heard rage reviews about Lineage. Food was absolutely incredible. The Wagyu hand roll was our personal favorite. We ordered 4 hahah!! The cauliflower stood out to us. So simple, yet so delicious. Our waiter was especially great and really made it feel homely! We loved it so much, we saw they had a delivery option on Hopper. The delivery experience did not live up to dine in. Still delicious but our cauliflower still had batter in the middle. Not really a problem though, as it seems to just be corn starch and water. Also, a lot of their menu items are not available for takeout so we recommend experiencing in person!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was delicious and the portions big.
The service was excellent. We definitely recommend this place to anyone around the area to visit, I know when we are back in Maui we will.
Be the first to ReplyA fancy night out that's well deserved.
Located in the heart of the Wailea Shops, you can get a 5 Star experience as you taste your way through the menu. We enjoyed all the different food and the short ribs were my personal favorite. This place was made for those you enjoy the finer things in life but also love a casual vibe. The outdoor seating is a nice touch and the Service was good. Our waiter made excellent recommendations and visited the table enough to know when we needed something but too often where we felt bothered. I definitely recommend you make a reservation and give this place a shot.

The food was fantastic! The menu was a bit difficult to read, but the server was very helpful explaining our options. Very special foods.
Be the first to ReplyFavorite meal in Maui.
Do not miss the wagyu hand rolls. Or the lobster noodles. Worth the splurge.
Be the first to ReplyLineage was fantastic.
Hands down one of the most memorable meals I've had in the last year at least. Service was on point While my Mai tai was too strong for me- my husbands pink drink with gin and hibuscus did not disappoint ! Food- I've recently been gravitating to just small plates and not regretting it one bit! At lineage it was the same Loved the - A5 hand roll - shrimp croquettes - chicharones Did not get mail course The desserts thought stole the show!!! Must come! We will be back!

Probably the best spot we found while in Maui! Croquette - 5/5 comes out in 4... I can probably eat 10 of these.... Fish market - 5/5 stupid good couldn't finish... probably top dish we had here Duck Bao - 5/5 stupid good and so much food... highly recommend Garlic Noodle - 3.5/5 flavor is great but it's a dry noodle. I wish I ordered lobster noodle instead Korean Fried Chicken -3.5/5 I'm Korean so take this with a grain of salt. The chicken breast was so juicy but flavor wise it tasted like any Korean fried chicken spot Aji Tamago - 5/5 umami bomb... wish I ate it with rice but I couldn't wait

The food here is just incredible!! We came for an early July 4th dinner and dined outside. Service was great; everyone was friendly and attentive (even those that were servers for other tables). We started with the aji tamago (5/5)- smooth, creamy, and unique and the croquettes (5/5) - bold, spicy, and a punch of flavor. Highly recommend both dishes- they are not your typical appetizer. For entrees- we shared the Cantonese lobster noodles (5/5) - these were a very rich buttery flavor with an EXTREMELY generous portion of lobster. Finally the Korean fried chicken half (5/5) - do not skip the topping! The server helped us with cutting this up and it was just perfect. The chicken was so juicy and the sauce and peanuts on top were flavorful, spicy and crunchy making for a perfect bite. I would definitely come back and get all these dishes mince again. We tried a few cocktails which were all delicious you really can't go wrong. The location is also conveniently set near the shops. Highly recommend checking Lineage out for a lovely dinner.
Be the first to ReplyLineage is my #1 favorite place to eat in Maui.
I have to eat here every time we visit. I'm vegan! But the menu is not all vegan, they just offer tons of vegan, vegetarian, and meat options. The folks who work there are very kind and attentive, and the whole thing feels like a family hang. I wouldn't call it a "fancy" place, but the food is definitely high class, kinda pricey, but worth it in my opinion. Must haves: Spicy garlic noodles - watch out though, they're pretty spicy. You can get the spice in the side if you're wary. Mushroom salad - vegan by default, my whole family loved it (even those who don't really like mushrooms) Crispy cauliflower - this dish is vegan by default, and has changed a little in the years we've come but is always SO good. This last visit tasted like khao soi turned into a cauliflower dish and I loved it (lots of curry flavors) Tapioca pudding - light coconut tapioca base with mango topping bursting with flavor The first time we went, we were sat inside next to a VERY rowdy and loud group. The staff tried to get them under control and were very apologetic. I prefer to sit outside (since it's always a pretty comfortable temp), but we sat inside this most recent time and had a very pleasant experience. There was a birthday at a table near by and the whole room (it's pretty small) sang along. (Our server Tiana was the best.) Love this place! Support them! Give them your business!

I just got back from the islands and started doing my restaurant reviews, and I can't believe I totally forgot to review Lineage from the trip before! I can totally see how the experience here would have been a lot better if we had ordered some other menu items! I think we went wrong with some of our orders. Additionally, there are 2 outdoor seating areas and one indoor seating area. We were seated in the outdoor seating area that had very few tables and felt very much like an afterthought from the main indoor restaurant and the covered outdoor area. Most of the evening, we felt like we were just trying to flag down servers because nobody came out to the area in the back where we were seated. This was a little bit of a disappointment. As for food, we shared everything and we ordered the garlic szechuan noodles (which were phenomenal), lions mane mushroom liangban salad (which was just okay), and the fish from local waters (which was overall good, but steamed fish is not to everyone's taste because it steams all the flavor out of the fish and I don't think I would order it again because blackened or charbroiled is probably more to my liking). We had a few drinks - Buddha Belly was delicious but I don't remember the name of the other one we tried - and we skipped dessert but I'd definitely go back to try their banana cream tart! I've heard so many raving reviews about Lineage and I genuinely think it was just an off-night when we went. Because of that, I'd be happy to return on our next trip and will update my review accordingly when I do so! :)
Be the first to ReplyReserved Lineage a month before our reservation on a Friday
Reserved Lineage a month before our reservation on a Friday at 530pm for 6 people. When I got there around 520, they were able to seat me immediately. Service was amazing. Our server gave us a perfect overview of the menu and helped us find the right amount of food. Service alone was 5 stars! The food overall was decent. I expected a lot from the dishes because they all looked so good but some of them were disappointing. Out of all the dishes, I recommend ordering: Garlic Szechuan Noodles Korean Fried Chicken Crispy Shrimp & Scallop Croquettes Aji Tamago Lapa'au Oyster Mushroom & Vegetable "Birds Nest" Don't recommend: The Ahi Poke was very salty Wagyu Kalbi Short Rib: if you mix the bone marrow in the rice, it tasted really good. I don't recommend this dish cause the kalbi wasn't kalbi and was a bit dry. Pupu Special - Soft Shell Crab Ukoy: the crab was so tiny and one of these isn't enough for 4 people. It's good for 2 people max. All of the Asians at the table thought it was decent (we've had better) but our white friends loved all the food lol.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a restaurant located in the Shops of Wailea.
The inside of the restaurant is rather small, less than 10 tables. We did a walk in for an early dinner & able to get a table immediately but I would recommend a reservation. The food is Asian insipired. We had the Pupu Special Soft Shell Crab, which was pretty much deep fried crab with calamari sauce on the side. We had the fried chicken with garlic rice, Cantonese lobster noodles and kids short ribs for our daughter. Fried chicken was HuGE, enough for 2 people of share. We had the one with the peanut sprinkle. The chicken was super crispy and glazed with sweet sauce. Cantonese lobster was our fave because it was the most flavorful and came with plenty with lobster meat. We tried the kids short ribs with rice which was way too overcooked and the sauce was super sweet.

If you're looking for a nice place for quiet dinner that is not on the wailea resorts, this place located at the shops at wailea is a good option. It was a nice warm evening and we were seated outside. We started with the shrimp and scallop croquettes with taro, which reminded me of the taro pastry at Chinese dim sum. For entrees we tried the wagyu short ribs which came with roasted bone marrow. Very tender and well seasoned. And then we had the Luc lac which is a beef tenderloin dish with scallops that's meant to be wrapped and eaten with accompanying better lettuce. For dessert we tried the banana cream tart, which was not what I expected. It was more like a danish pastry but the banana cream was delicious. Easy parking in the large lot or if you're staying at wailea resorts, very walkable.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I made reservations for Lineage since it was
My husband and I made reservations for Lineage since it was close to our hotel with good yelp reviews. Oh wow! This restaurant located at the shops may seem like a generic restaurant in a tourist area, but man was the food amazing! Thank you Yelp for pointing us to this wonderful place. I made reservations on open table. The only option was bar seating so I took it. We didn't want to have to wait for dinner and made sure we had something on the calendar. We loved the bar and our bartender Destiny. She was super sweet and helpful. We started off with cocktails - the Buddha belly and the mai'a tai. Both made with fresh ingredients. So yummy! For dinner, we ordered the Waygu short ribs and the beef tenderloins and scallops. Everything is family style, which I love. I got to try it all. Both meals were out of this world. Yea, we were in Maui but man oh man the beef is legit! So good! For dessert, we got the milk chocolate miso ice cream and both of the after dinner drinks. I got the Hawaiian host and I was happily surprised that it came with Mac but peanut brittle. Amazing! Totally unassuming being in a shopping mall, but hands down one of my favorite meals in Maui.

If you're a fan of Star Noodle (and I love- LOVE Star Noodle), you'll love Lineage. There's no relationship, but the two spots are similar in how they prepare their dishes... excellent flavors and textures! Pros: food - as noted, there are great flavors and textures in every dish! Each dish that came surpassed the previous dish, the meal just kept better and better... seriously! Our waiter, Christian, he was awesome! He did accidentally forget one dish, so it came quite a bit later, and OMG, talk about velvety... talk about buttery....it was...perfection (aka the lobster noodle dish!) I was quite full when it came, but man oh man, I did not want to stop eating it! One friend said she was "mad," as she was also full, but wanted to eat more of the "party in her mouth noodles!" This is us full, and it was still amazing! Cons: I honestly can't think of any.... They took us early from our reservation time (we arrived about 20 minutes early), service was excellent- we enjoyed all our interactions with the staff, and food was extremely delicious. Every dish was made with unique flavors and great texture! My friends and I were planning our next meal there as we were still enjoying the current meal there! Some of the desserts pictured are not "full desserts," since it was all of our birthdays (this is a birthday trip!), Christian made us a special chocolate miso ice cream taster and not sure about the size of the sorbet, but that was also for our birthdays! Lineage will definitely be a list repeat!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful from start to finish.
We ordered the ahi poke, lobster noodles and fried chicken. Service was perfect and drinks were tasty too.
Be the first to ReplyEvery time we come to Hawaii this is our first stop.
The drinks are spectacular and always creative. The food is always excellent and the service outstanding . I could eat here every night.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic.
The Korean chicken is massive for the price and the most tender chicken I've had in recent memory. The croquettes were amazing. Not too fishy, just the right saltiness. The poke was uniquely presented and mixed with a few salted pork chunks hidden throughout. It was amazing. Was so full after those three that we didn't even touch the garlic noodles which were flavored of garlic as they should be. Service was amazing. Our server was fast, efficient, funny and even had great local recommendation. Waters were never empty. Perfect way to start a trip to Wailea. Vibe/ambiance was great. You could probably walk in without a reservation but it was busy the whole night.
Be the first to ReplyWe are SO happy that we went here.
First, you should get a reservation. We didn't have one and just got lucky. Sat outside, our server Christian was nice and very on top of things. We got the Aji Tamago eggs (basically ramen marinated eggs). These were my FAVORITE. It only comes with 3, I wish we'd gotten a second order. We also got the seared scallops. I believe there were 4 of these, in a lemongrass curry broth. These were my second favorite. We've already tried to recreate these at home. Definitely not the same. We got the Cantonese lobster noodles. Very good, and a good amount of lobster! Very filling, we didn't end up finishing these. And last we got the seafood and sausage stone pot. On a normal day this would be awesome! But everything else was SO good, this was just 'fine' compared to everything else.
Be the first to ReplyAmbience - we were seated outside.
There isn't a "view" really but we were seated outside. Service - Our waiter was good. He told us the specials and did his job as best as he could. No complaints. Food - Frankly, my expectations were way too high for this place and it was a huge let down. Crispy noodles with mushrooms - noodles had an after taste of oil to it which gave me a headache. The mushroom gravy had a weird balsamic vinegar reduction to it, which didn't play well with all the different types of mushrooms. My dad had the fish steamed and it came with fins!!! he sat there butchering his own fish so he wouldnt eat the little fins. His tummy was upset later that night, so watch out. He also had the scallops which he seemed to enjoy more than his main course.garlic rice - it's rice with garlic furikake...white rice is prolly better. Presentation of the food - I think the presentation is why I was super hyped about this place -- it's all show and 0 substance.Overall -- super unhappy.

They have a captive audience of tourists with limited options, and it shows in their arrogance (or disorganization, either way same effect). We waited 40 minutes after the reservation time which the restaurant confirmed weeks before our trip. No signs they saw this as poor service in the way they handled it.Unfortunately the food was only good but not living up to the yelp ratings. Overuse of soy sauce and sugar in most of the dishes. If you're in Maui for a few days don't rely on Lineage for one of the limited meal experiences you'll have there. Decent ambiance for a mall restaurant but didn't necessarily feel like we were in Hawaii once inside. Could have been anywhere.

Wow! So good had to go back again! Dining in was accommodated with a quick call back that we'd been moved off the waitlist, second visit ordered takeout. Both experiences were very positive and had they been open, a third visit would have been enjoyed! Food was excellent, crafty cocktails, attentive server and a chef that knows how yo get deliciously creative! 5 dining experience, will definitely return!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience! The food was out of the world.
We ordered the Garlic Szechuan Noodles, Crispy Cauliflower, and Korean Fried Chicken and some drinks. The noodles and cauliflower were absolutely delicious and had huge portions too. The plum sauce on the cauliflower was so good we almost ordered just a side of that to go. The charred vegetables with the cauliflower and the smoky flavor in the noodles was a great touch. The chicken with kochujang and peanut glaze was delicious too. Our server Josh was amazing and definitely deserves a raise! One of the best meals we've ever had and will definitely be back here.
