Lillian's Italian Kitchen Santa Cruz Reviews from The Last Year
The food is always great the atmosphere is welcoming
The food is always great the atmosphere is welcoming although u feel like you are dining at a very busy place. But you are. The service is great they are well trained and attentive

Lillian's was fantastic! The ambiance was great and the food was even better. I've gotten the chicken parm, shrimp scampi, and the Alfredo and both were savory and had great texture. Great for gluten free options too. Our server Mariah was absolutely fantastic, and was very sweet to my grandmother and her friends!
Loved the eggplant parmigiana special! The waitress
Loved the eggplant parmigiana special! The waitress indicated that it was only available on Tuesday nights as a special. I went back with friends on a Tuesday night to enjoy it and it was not on the menu!! To bad, as it is fantastic and should always be available!!
One of the best scampi pasta dish I ever have.
Definitely coming back without the kid. Service was awesome, because they were able to serve the menu that was on the menu. Thank you for doing the extra service. I understand the difficulty to get the food of the menu and deal with the chef.
The chicken parmesan was the best I've ever had and will
The chicken parmesan was the best I've ever had and will definitely visit again soon! It was beautiful to look at not to mention, scrumptious! The bartenders and servers were genuine and nimble. They recommended we try the spicy ciopinno and it was surprisingly spicy and definitely full of flavor! The hosts were also very friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back.

My GOODNESS! AHHHH! This place was packed! AND WITH GOOD REASON. The food and service was so lovely. I sat at the bar and received lovely service. The bartender working that evening kept checking up on me, was super friendly and recommended the daiquiri. I cant remember what it contained (sorry) but it was perfect. It wasnt overly sweet and it was refreshing. THE MAIN STAR: The fettuccine with braised beef ragu!!!! AHHHH. I never usually order pastas with meat so i when I absolutely devoured this i was surprised. Surprisingly, it wasnt too heavy! The pasta was cooked to perfection, the braised beef was perfectly seasoned and the sauce!!!! GLORIOUS. Parking was difficult, restaurant was packed, but my god so worth it. Definitely coming back when I make my way to NorCal again!
Big place, big menu
Big, busy red sauce Italian place with a big local following. All the dishes we ordered were fine and ample. Oddly, the cottony bread brought down the quality of the rest of the menu. The place feels like an oversized diner with a particularly good cook.
Love love Lillian's.
Have been coming here for years. When it was a small little secret only the locals knew about, still the same small family feeling with the best food
I found this place on Google for our recent trip to Santa
I found this place on Google for our recent trip to Santa Cruz. It had a four star average rating & it lived up to it. It is a bit upscale but casual & the service is friendly with reasonable prices. Our waitress was very friendly & knowledgable; she was under or over attentive. I almost tried their fish special with resoto which hopefully, they will have it. I wanted some dishes they were known for. So, I chose the feticini with short rib ragu; the feticini was al dente & the regu so flavorful with tender meat, rosemerry, & Calabrian chili flakes that gave it a kick. The bread is freshly baked with wonderful olive oiul for dipping. My mother enjoyed her bacon warapped prawns with greens & avacato chimichuroi sauce. For dessert, the canoli is a must with a flaky crispy shell & smooth ricota with chocolate chips & cherries. Round it off with a Mana Brea Beer or wine & you will not be disappointed. So, for wonderful Italian food at reasonable prices in a casual yet upscale atmosphere at reasonable prices, Lillian's cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

This is me and my husbands go-to date night!! We usually don't go to Italian restaurants because we think we make it pretty good at home - but OMG we just can't after trying Lilian's. We even tend to get the same thing because it's so good. Cocktails are well poured & service is always great!
What a find! Service, ambiance and food were amazing.
My husband ordered the day's dinner special-panko crusted halibut steak served on a bed of lemon risotto with avocado chimichurri sauce. I ordered the fiochetti-pear and Gorgonzola cheese stuffed pasta in brown butter sauce, covered in arugula and coppa. So, so good. We highly recommend. Honestly, if we lived here, we'd be regulars.

Awesome restaurant!! Morgan, PK and Sarah are great! It's always a lively atmosphere and food never disappoints
The wait was easy for a Friday (20-30).
Bread should've been warmed up but no biggie. The waiter was a little sassy and judgmental because of our age but overall the food was amazing. The pasta was hot and cooked fresh to order, as well as the takeout order we placed. Great prices, simple menu, great for family dinners or date nights!
we were disappointed that the "fresh feccucine" we ordered
we were disappointed that the "fresh feccucine" we ordered from the menu wasn't really fresh feccucine. Does the restaurant think we are not able to tell if a pasta is freshly made or from a dried product? I understand for a $24 entree it is probably not realistic to get fresh feccucine but you don't have to give customers the wrong expectation on the menu. Free bread is awful -- cold, stale and boring, came with vinegar and olive oil so watery and so flavorless that we wouldn't take a second bite. I judge a restaurant by bread they offer, would honestly rate this place slightly higher if that wasn't offered.
Just ohhhhhh my god good.
Could not stop mumbling this is sooooo good. My husband and I enjoyed sharing the surf and turf accompanied by the pork/beef Ragu with meatballs. After enjoying the risotto balls.

Based on the location and outside of the building, I was happily surprised to see a beautiful open concept restaurant/bar. The service was very good, although the servers seemed overwhelmed. The food is 5/5. I had spaghetti carbonara that was a perfect, traditional recipe. My husband had lasagna. The red sauce is great. The prices are reasonable, even a little low for the quality. I'd definitely return if in the area.
Excellent dinner.
Seafood mix with pasta was excellent. Best I've had. Lasagna was good, but not hot enough. Next time.
Amazing food!
I had such an amazing time at Lilian's. The server was AMAZING! I was celebrating a birthday with my extended family and everyone felt so welcome. I will definitely return.

Overall a great restaurant from the handful of times I've gone. It's best for dates or social gatherings to truly get the most out of its fancy & intimate ambiance. Expect to spend around $50+ unless sharing. The food is well-portioned & is the most authentic pasta I've had out here. The servers are kind & helpful, but sometimes the table check-ins can be lackluster. I plan on coming here in the near future, I'd recommend both tourists & locals to try.
I took my wife to Lillian's kitchen for her birthday dinner.
The meal was fabulous, especially the "Lillian's Wonderland" dessert. Our server, Arthur was wonderful; friendly courteous and engaging. The maitre d' Danny was also very attendant and friendly. I highly recommend Lillian's Kitchen! Richard Jelusich, Ph.D.
Easily the best restaurant in Santa Cruz.
The shrimp scampi was remarkable. Hard to get a seat or reservation though.

I hesitated to give this a five star rating because the hostess was so apathetic and did not try to accomodate our change in time for dinner--even two days prior. She was not much nicer in person. However the wait staff and bar staff made up for it. We ended up sitting at the bar, and I actually prefer sitting there. The bar staff is fun to watch and knows what to pair with each meal, gave great descriptions of the food, and up selled on the best caesar salad! My friend had the short rib ragu---always delicious. I had the Halibut special--incrusted in panko and nuts, with an avocado chimichurri served on lemon risotto. It was such a great combination of flavors and the fish was cooked perfectly. I am coming back to try the lamb chop!
Great smells and great food
Traditional Italian food with a very attentive and friendly staff. You cannot go wrong if you stick with the classics. Sunday gravy was top notch!
Delicious
Everything was scrumptious! The hostess and our server were both super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was charming. We ordered the Sunday gravy and chicken parmigiana and both were delicious! We were steered towards the chocolate dessert (I can’t recall the name), it was so good! If we lived in Santa Cruz this would be on our list of regular places to go. Great meal!
Loud, unfriendly service
We went for dinner. They were very busy and said it would be an hour wait for two. We decided to get takeout (after hesitating a minute and the hostess saying it would more likely be 1-1/2 hour wait). She said our takeout order would be 20 minutes. We ordered and paid and then were told we could sit at the bar to eat if seats became available. Within five minutes our order was ready, but seats opened at the bar, and the hostess said we could eat at the bar. The male bartender kindly replated our order on dishes; the female bartender had no time for us at all once she learned our order was paid for. Neither did the male bartender for that matter, both checking in with parties on either side of us and pointedly ignoring us completely. The house salad was very good with a lot of fresh ingredients; the Sunday sauce was delicious as well; the bread was so-so. Everything would have been so much nicer had we not been persona non grata at the bar. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt less welcome. It’s too bad that cordial service depends on how large a tip will be made. The restaurant is very loud and takeout may have been preferable.
Fast and effective
The restaurant is large and a little noisy. The service is fast (almost stressful) Otherwise nice address and very good food
Good place...not very Italian.
It proposes itself as an Italian cuisine restaurant, but the cuisine, although appreciable, is very Americanised. Good attention and proposals for celiacs. Excellent service. High prices.
Excellent Food & Service
My grandparents were locals and first started bringing my family to Lillian's years ago. Since then, we keep returning to find great service and delicious food. We haven't ordered something that we haven't liked. We just visited for our anniversary dinner and it was great as always.
