Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa Katoomba Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful experience
This hotel captures the essence of an escape to the mountains. The hotel lounge is furnished and styled beautifully. Rooms are ok, beds comfortable and the heating is good. High tea was a lovely experience and bar food good. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to dine at Darley’s, maybe next time.
Never again
Unfortunately this time I have given up even booking the place. I stayed at the place several years ago and had a very good experience. Recently, we called in for a breakfast at Lilianfels and then had a lunch at ECHOES next door and were disappointed with the food and the service. Nothing like what it use to be. Today I phoned the Lilianfels to book a room, and was enquiring some details about the rooms. The person who took my call and whose name I could not catch as the line was terrible and the person was speaking too fast, was so rude that it stunned me. He continued to talk over me, and when I asked to be heard, he told me that I am to listen to him, and continued talking over me. Then the line was cut off. This is the end of us wanting to stay at Lilianfels.
Arrogant & Rude staff
The location and the hotel is very charming. We stayed here for 2 nights and overall were happy with the location and close proximity to Echo Point and Three Sisters. However the attitude of the staff is arrogant, unhelpful and each time we request something its like they’re doing a favour or dont want to help at all. If you’re a full paying customer you expect non rickety beds (iron rickety bed frames), the additional bed (extra charges paid) was a sofa bed which is uncomfortable and horrible mattress. For each meal at The Lounge you have to keep asking for plates, cutlery (they just slump the charcuterie on the table), Sparking water served and not even opened and served - have to keep asking for ice and lemon. Kept waiting for a glass of wine for 25mins (2 reminders), lady just slumps it on the table with no apology. Overall horrible and arrogant staff. They all think they’re from some superior planet and want to get over and done with the dinner shift.
Very good if slightly old fashioned
This hotel is well located for the excellent canyon views and walks nearby. It is very good although slightly old-fashioned. The front desk staff are particularly good. The smart restaurant only operates part of the week in winter. They do seem to have events and when these are on, the restaurant bar slightly struggles otherwise it’s good. Very good spa and there is a snooker table in the Club Room. The wines by the glass could be improved. Once you have fought through the tourists at the ‘Three Sisters’, try driving 20 minutes up the road to upmarket Blackheath which has even more stunning views but without the crowds.
New rooms aren’t in the main building and are HORRIBLE. Don’t do it.
I stayed here five years ago and loved it to bits. This time was TERRIBLE. DO NOT BOOK THE NEW ROOMS. I had rooms in the main building last time and while they are old, they were built at a high standard and were very comfortable and give that lovely old hotel/resort feeling. It’s all soft carpet and solid walls and wall paper. Just gorgeous. Marble bathrooms and old art on the walls. Love love love. This time I thought I’d try the “newly renovated” rooms that had a fire place. But. They don’t tell you these rooms are out in an old building by the MAIN ROAD. You have to drag your own bags out all the way down to the main road, in the RAIN. It’s like you’re in the crappy car garage the parents renovated for the teen kids to get out house. It’s not as good as an AirBnB because you don’t have a kitchen like an actual house. You’re just in one crappy room with almost no decor, a cheap crappy bed head and a bathroom that looks like it was installed by a friend of a friend. It’s a classic landlord hack job of a renovation. Everything is leaking and rotting and full of mould. I got to the room and was absolutely devastated. I had booked two nights as respite mid way through a gruelling month long work trip. I had been in terrible hotels and motels and air bnbs and decided to spend $1400 on two nights of loveliness. Only to be greeted at the reception told to turn around and walk to a mouldy old room on a main road that had zero thought to the design and no care to those using the room. I called the reception and expressed how unhappy I was. They said they were fully booked but they could move me the next day in the morning. But then it took until 2pm to actually get the room. It was so much better and I’m grateful they did that. Frankly the only reason they have the stars they do it because they moved us. To me the newly renovated rooms have been made by someone who can’t see why people stay at Lilianfels to start with. They don’t understand you’re there to feel the rich old world charm of a resort. You want the feel of being in a ski field wealthy home, not a crappy airbnb with no kitchen. I understand they have that old building and they want to take advantage of it, but they’ve failed. Completely. It should be redone as two rooms one on each floor. Fill the two suites with antiques and lovely things and put a porter on them so no one has to lift a finger let along drag their bags out through the rain. Then charge anything you like. I’m not sure I’ll go back. Certainly not in their new rooms. Such a terrible shame.
Not worth the price.
To start with the positives the location is amazing and the staff is very friendly. However cleanliness should definitely be improved, the carpet is very old and stained, we had stains on our towels and sheets and we found mould on the blueberries in the chia pudding at breakfast.
A Perfect Wedding Venue
We wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team for your hard work in making sure our wedding day was everything we wanted. Firstly, to you, Aurelie, for being the best wedding co-ordinator and making sure everything ran on time, everything and everyone was where they needed to be. From herding the guests and the bridal party and checking in with us throughout the day to ensuring the team knew exactly where to be and when, we will be forever thankful for your hard work and attention to detail. Bryant, thank you for saving the day when the groom had a slight accident, red would not have gone well with his white suit. Nothing was too much trouble for you or your team, thank you for going the extra mile. To the food and beverage team, Sasanka, Asmita, William, Jay, Viran, Joan and Quyan – service was excellent and nothing too much trouble. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. Chefs – Adam, Daminou, Jude and Nabin – The food was exceptional and everything we wanted, and our guests are still raving about the delicious food from the amazing canapes to the starters, main course and dessert everything was 5 stars. Thank you for our wonderful Wedding Cake which was enjoyed by all. We also wanted to thank the wonderful housekeeping team, from Amanda who prepared our reception and canape areas, Danny who made sure we were able to get all our supplies to the venue with ease and Allan who was willing to help with even the most obscure requests. We’re sure there’s people that were just too quick and efficient for us to get the names of – so to anyone else we’ve missed, thank you so much for all your efforts to make our wedding as amazing as it was. Lilianfels made our dream a reality and the team really went above and beyond at every stage; we will be forever grateful.
Comfortable but a bit dated
My husband and I had three nights at Lilianfels at the end of April. Our room had a beautiful view of a Japanese maple in full autumn colour. The room was nicely decorated but we found the bed hard and lacking comfort. The hotel is full of charm but needs a bit of a refresh. There was no coffee pod machine and the movies were old school with a trip to the concierge to rifle through the DVD’s. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t rate the food There is a bus stop right outside which takes you to Katoomba where there are lots of restaurants
Thank you Bryant
Always great to return. The location on the edge of the escarpment is the best in the Blue Mountains. The facilities, room, food and staff are excellent, and the great spa team. And special thanks to Bryant, always giving outstanding service.

That's what AT sponsorships are for - and you are only paying 25% in the first year and then less in year two and three.
I beliebe @EternalAnt36 was sponsored by @PerceptiveWash44 and is now doing $25k/mo.
You can write on the top sellers profiles (type 'Top 10' in the searchbar) and then tap request sponsorship button after you found the guy or gal like to work with!
