What a place! The restaurant is amazingly beautiful.
The service impeccable, the food is authentic and delicious ...with some fusion creativity in select dishes. Grand Cantonese dining. Everything is perfect. My photos here won't do it justice. We started with dim sum, the traditional Hai Gao shrimp dumplings and then some French inspired dumplings with escargot as the filling. Out of this world I say... simply amazing. We follow up with a small plate, a thinly-sliced, lightly seared tuna steak topped with ginger, green onions and slight soy sauce. Our main dishes were salt and pepper shrimp with piquant and some amazing ma-po-tofu accompanied with white rice. Portions were hearty but we still had room for dessert.: A sliced mango poached in it's own juice and a tapioca pudding with taro root ice cream. All this comes at a cost inclusive of tea, bottle of Evian water, and one non-alcoholic drink: $3XX. Yes, you read correctly.

Made same day reservations. The Peking duck was delicious, the wine menu was very amazing. Ordered a bottle of DRC Echezeux, was extraordinary.
Be the first to ReplyThe Lili at The Peninsula in Paris is absolutely fantastic.
From the entrance to the entire restaurant it's absolutely beautiful. Elegance with a modern twist and the food is divine. The duck and eggplant are by far the most incredible items on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyThe best Chinese restaurant in all of Paris (or anywhere)
The best Chinese restaurant in all of Paris (or anywhere) by far! Amazing service, delicious and top quality ! I would highly recommend everyone to try this place! It's worth every penny. I would fly back to Paris just to eat at Lili again!! My top recommendations are the sweet and sour prawns (off the menu) , yeung chow-style fried rice, as well as the stir-fried noodles with bean sprouts and chives in dark soy sauce. The noodles alone I could eat EVERYDAY! Go and try it for yourself you will not be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyIncredibly expensive but very good.
Let's get it out of the way -- the prices here are mind-boggling: fried rice for 22 Euros, hot and sour sup for 25. 130 Euros for Peking duck. And so on.So if and only if you both love good Chinese food and you're up for a splurge and not even going to look at the prices, then, well I suggest you give this place a try.The service is impeccable. The sommelier was fantastic -- helpful in selection and appearing instantly out of nowhere at the precise moment he was needed.I had the tasting menu at a stunning 150 Euros (on the logic that it let me try more stuff and I'd surely hit 150 anyway with soup, rice, and one main course). The amuse bouche was a very nice fried shrimp, the dim sum were superb (also, the only way to get dim sum at dinner seemed via the tasting menu), the watercress soup beautifully presented and very tasty. The Peking duck came in two separate courses, the first served traditionally with hand-made pancakes (and only two small pieces of duck with skin) and the second more minced duck in lettuce cup in concept. The steamed sea bass was also very good, though mercifully they brought a fork to help eat it. The desserts were good, particularly the mango soup type thing, which was delightful and refreshing.
Be the first to ReplyCHEAT FRAUDI would expect to be cheated from a small shop
CHEAT FRAUDI would expect to be cheated from a small shop in Paris but not by the restaurant at the Peninsula. I have a blog on Peking Duck around the world having eaten at over 500 from Peking to Russia to Australia to Paris to US, etc. The Lili served in two courses and which I really liked asked if I wanted the second course cooked differently than the usual meet. For that I will give them an A+. The duck came and there were 8 small pancakes, about 10 pieces of meat (also A+ as ( like with the skin) but only about 8 small pieces of skin. I asked the waitress if she did an half duck and she said yes and I thanked her (later to understand that she did not understand me). the skin was not crisp and there was fat on it. To add to it, I asked for a dry wine and she brought a very sweet. No problem, she took it back. I have pictures of the amount of duck served and it definitely was not the whole duck. The bill came and they charged for a whole duck and the wine I refused. Had I not looked......Then they had the nerve to say it was the whole duck and that I never asked the waitress. The manager then ended up taking the false wine and charging for only the correct amount of duck. I don't usually look at the bill at a restaurant such as this, but not only the duck plus the wine.
Be the first to ReplyThe best restaurant in its category in the area.
The capacity is limited, so make sure to make a reservation as you wouldn't want to miss such an experience. From the setting of the restaurant, to the extremely knowledgeable staff, finally to the food quality, there's not one detail that was missed at LiLi. I personally recommend the canard Laque (You'll need to order it with your reservation) which is the best in Paris. It will come served in 2 services, completely different yet both as delicious. Make sure to listen to your server's suggestions, as they will be tailored to your taste, and will be a guaranteed fit. Also, try some of their starters. It is a pricy place, but it's worth every penny. There is not one negative point about this venue!
Be the first to ReplyLili offers a delightful selection of Cantonese and dim sum
Lili offers a delightful selection of Cantonese and dim sum items. My wife & I shared 2 main dishes with 1 rice and had more than enough to eat. Overall the Peninsula's ambiance is spectacular and we sat in a "romantic" booth after being told the main dining room was fully booked for dinner - a common pattern at the Peninsula Paris - however the room was never more than 10% full!Lili's service was impeccable, our waiter made good recommendations and kept tabs on us throughout the meal without being overbearing.
