Leah & Louise Charlotte Reviews from The Last Year

I have to say we visited here just off a list we have of must try's in Charlotte. We like to patronize Black and Brown businesses, as well as small businesses. We made a reservation on line and were seated immediately upon arrival. It was a Friday evening and did get busy pretty quick. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was very rustic. The kitchen sent over an appetizer for us to try and it was so delicious. We ended up ordering two more appetizers as well as our entrees and I have to say everything was good. Well seasoned, well portioned. At the end of our service the kitchen also sent us a complementary dessert. Kisses to the chefs! We will definitely be back!

Leah & Louise food deserves far more than five stars! The four-course tasting menu was an incredible introduction to the restaurant's offerings. My boyfriend and I were able to order eight different items between the two of us. Everything was unique and unlike any other food I have had in Charlotte. We loved the depth of the flavors! We booked this experience for Valentine's Day and added the wine pairing option. Although we loved the food and enjoyed the wine, we cannot give the restaurant a perfect five star rating due to the long wait for our reservation. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and found about 10+ people waiting in the small area in front of the bar. It appears that the restaurant overbooked. It took 40 minutes for us to be seated for our reservation. As the time passed, I counted the growing number of people waiting. The number had jumped to 20, and we were all shoulder to shoulder. There was no way for us to leave and come back to pass the time. Everyone had to wait it out in person. I thought it was nice for the staff to serve the popcorn snack to each couple while we were waiting, but I recommend that they revise their procedures for situations like this - especially since all diners would have paid for the nearly $300 experience upon making the reservation. The staff is friendly, and they worked incredibly hard, but the staff was very lean on this busy day. It looked as if they could have used the help of at least 1-2 more employees. Once we were seated, we were promptly served! Unfortunately, the wine pairings were not explained - we did get 3 different wines that we enjoyed. Many people dining in the restaurant seemed to have reds that we did not receive. This led us to wonder if a pairing was forgotten for us? We did not find it appropriate to ask since we were aware that people were still waiting for tables at the conclusion of our meal, and we sympathized with them/didn't want to hold up our table any longer. We left very full and very happy despite the rocky start with the long wait! I would advise anyone to try Leah & Louise since I imagine/hope this overbooking was a unique situation. The items we thought were outstanding include: the duck appetizer, Roll Up, Scallops, entree steak, and the Arthur Lou dessert.

There are few restaurants in Charlotte better than Leah and Louise. My husband and I had a miscommunication about who was making dinner reservations tonight, but they were still able to sit us at the bar. Shantese (I'm so sorry if I butchered that!) is just incredible. She is an amazing bartender. Our food was delicious, came out quickly, even with a packed house. Everything we had was top notch. I can't wait to try the full menu soon! Even the small bar menu is amazing! I'm going to be dreaming about that chicken sandwich until I can get back there!
What an amazing experience.
I ordered the Leah's Cabbage and the fried quail. Both dishes were amazing! The service was beyond perfect and the ambiance was great for a nice relaxing meal. I look forward to dining there again!
I was very surprised at the prices here.
It's extremely expensive for what you get. The mud island dish was almost $40 and not worth the price. The food was fine but nothing amazing and definitely not worth the price.
This is the absolute cutest restaurant in the fun new area
This is the absolute cutest restaurant in the fun new area of camp north end. The restaurant is pretty easy to find as it's entrance is right off the street. You can park on the street or drive down to the parking deck. Just know it's a bit of a walk from the parking deck so look for street or overflow parking. I'm giving it 3 stars because I had such high expectations of the place because I mean VP Kamala Harris went there for lunch sooo! LOL! Really though I went on restaurant week so it was a lot of people and I'm sure the kitchen was slammed therefore some things were over/under cooked. Even the sauce for the apple cobbler was cold and wouldn't come out of the cup. I am definitely going to give it another chance because the taste/flavor of the food was definitely there. I am sure it's going to be better next time. Will let y'all know!
I will probably not be going back to this restaurant.
It wasn't worth the wait or my money. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Me and a friend made reservations for 5:15 pm one evening. When we got there we were sat right next to the bathrooms, in front of the pos systems. We tried to get our seat moved but were told we couldn't. This, I actually understood, especially since they are a small establishment and were supposedly booked for the evening. Our server was nice but a bit unprofessional. We were told the menu was to be accessed through the QR code on the table, which was also fine. We took our time scanning the menu and looking up pictures via Yelp, since we weren't onboarded or explained the menu at all. Around the 3rd time the server came around asking if we were ready (all within a 8-10 minute time span) he finally asked if it was our first time visiting. We ordered the chicken skin appetizerbecause we wanted to bide time to decide our order and was curious. I don't recommend them. They weren't what I expected taste wise but to be fair they were exactly as described. I asked about mock-tails and he couldn't tell us much. I then asked about grapefruit juice and if it were freshly squeezed or concentrated. He said he'd ask the bar. He came back with a grapefruit mocktail, not an answer to my previous question. When he arrived with it, I was confused and asked what it was and he said "a mocktail with grapefruit juice". I politely said I didn't want it I just asked about grapefruit juice. My friend said she'd take it assuming it was on the house (which we found out indeed was when we paid the bill). I don't see the point of being rushed if the staff are lacking efficiency and attentiveness. I ordered the scallops and my friend ordered the oxtail grits. My dish was SO VERY SALTY. I mean, I struggled to eat it. My friend's dish was lacking as well. It seems to be a stew of oxtail fat and oil. When she was almost through she couldn't finish it either because the ridiculous amount of oil on her plate was nauseating. I truly didn't see a point to expressing our displeasure with the service or the food. Judging our experience from the very beginning, I highly doubted we would get any type of compromise or solution. So we paid our bill, left our 20% tip and left. However, I will never go back and will most certainly do not recommend.

Hands down one of the best meals and service I've had in a long time! Asia was a wonderful server.
If you're in Charlotte, you must try!
Atmosphere and service were fantastic. Food was PHENOMENAL! Our family shared the Duck Hash, the Leah's Cabbage and the Barbequed Shrimp. We loved all three dishes! Super full of flavor and ample portions.
Not Satified with our meal. We are from Mich but 2 of our family members live in Charlotte. It is one of their favorite
Very disappointed in our meal. we are from Michigan and we're with family who live there. I had the Oxtail it was mushed up with some sort of beans no flavor and my son had chop chop disappointed in that also. It is my nieces favorite restaurant. The appetizers were good should have just ordered them. And they had just got married 2 days before. It was a expensive meal and not worth the money
Food was amazing.
Service was magnificent thanks to Asia our server. She was super knowledgeable. The vibe was impeccable. I love it. Be back soon. Maybe tonight. lol
Unique and satisfying dining experience
We were searching for a unique dining experience with cuisine that we would not ordinarily experience. This menu fit the bill and then some. It’s located in an up and coming part of the city - about ten minutes from uptown. A small Intimate setting with a boho chic Vibe. Super friendly staff. Menu is small and interesting. Everything from rabbit to catfish to chicken and scallops. Southern with lower Mississippi twist. We experimented and had the fried chicken skins which others raved about. Too much fat for our taste, but that’s our issue, not theirs. The scallops with a cauliflower puree were amazing. The mud catfish was delicious. Craft cocktails were sublime. This is a must in Charlotte for a unique and totally satisfying dining experience. .
Lunch with family
I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and I would have to say it was okay. The bun was very dense and dry, it overwhelmed the sandwich. I ended up taking it off. The pickles were nice, but were too subtle in their flavor. My husband got the oyster sandwich and he said the bun was too much on his sandwich as well.
This places slaps me silly every time.
It's one of our favorite splurge restaurants to celebrate! The food, service, ambiance, and drinks are out of this world every time. We brought my brother and his girlfriend here as they were visiting from out of state and asked for a solid food spot. This definitely did it! We had to sit at the bar because I didn't realize the table I booked was outside and it is chillier. We were happy they accommodated us, but it's definitely hard to have a conversation with 4 people at the bar. The bartender was incredible. The grits and cabbage were my favorite two things on the menu!!!
You really have to try Leah & Louise at Camp North End!
I can't say enough about Leah & Louise at Camp North End. The food was divine! Seriously!!! My husband and I split the Leah's Cabbage ... Don't decide you don't like cabbage until you've tried this. It is tender with a creamy sauce and sausage. AND it is dressed with hot honey! Ask for a spoon if you don't want to embarrass yourself licking the plate. Wow! Then we split the ox tail with grit gnocchi, yes, that's right, gnocchi made with grits and fried. Crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth creamy grits on the inside. It is a revelation and you may never have grits or gnocchi in the traditional way again! Oh, and don't worry, this one comes with a spoon so you can get every drop of the amazing sauce and super tender oxtail! Finally, we finished the evening with "It's like Buttah", a creme brulee with a goat cheese dollop on top. You might want to get one of these for yourself so you don't have to share!!! To complement all of this truly amazing food, our server for the evening was Asia. She will describe the dishes for you in a way that makes you want to try everything! She's also the perfect host, always observant, never obtrusive. Seriously, if you haven't tried Leah & Louise, you are missing out. Worth every moment, every calorie, and every dime!! Thank you to the team for a lovely evening. It was our first time visiting but it won't be our last!!!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
