Overprice yet food with OK presentation
We has first sitting on Saturday night. My friend never had such experience with special presentation and wine pairing, but I did a lot...
Well food was OK, I was surprised by a lot of good review. Yes it is very nice and unique experience for Korean town quality and expectations, but $250 per person if you want to [pair it with wine (chosen for you) then do it... I would goo somewhere else. I did like music, but some people didn't since it is hard to talk, and you have to like it. I understand and appreciate wines, selection was OK. A presenter, I am guessing co-Chef misspoke on Pinot Blanc and Noir, take away from a class experience...
Beginning of dinner, Chef takes you from Normandie Hotel, it is historic building and hotel, yet it is 3 star establishment with very run down view, so a bit shocking for some... You can (if first sitting) have some complementary wine tasting at hotel when you wait, but crowd is scary and I think it can spoil a lot of dates...
It is not a lot of story behind every dish, so I don't know if I would give it even 4 star for experience, potions are small, all veggies (meat is additional price)...granted organic, fresh from farm, but when I asked for a piece of bread to finish my dish, their response was that all was accounted for and they cannot spare one piece for me...
Coffee was presented as the most expensive in the world, well I don't know if it was lack of condiment, but speaking of disgusting taste...
Amazing Tasting Menu Counter...
Fun location in koreatown near hotel normandie, cassell's hamburgers. Intimate counter for 8+ people. Amazing Farm-to-Table Eight Course + amuse bouche Vegetarian tasting menu with options for seafood, pork or cheese. I got the Pork Belly substitution for the 7th course and didn't regret it one bit. Fantastic experience, very satisfying, like having your own private dinner party with a master Chef/Farmer. The wine flight is personally selected by the chef and introduced me to some very flavorful wines I've never heard of before. Thanks again!

Such an exhilarating experience and gourmet treat to have dinner at "The Counter"! We completely lucked out to catch a last minute reservation last Friday. Try to arrive a few minutes early to be placed in order of arrival when seating time comes. This way you will be in full viewing position to witness the food preparation and plating right in front of you. Chef Gary Menes, his apprentice assistant and the washer of dishes (a quiet helper who is in constant motion as the pans, plates and wine glasses, course after course, whirl on thru the entire meal) never cease their calm and deliberate dance of perfection for 2.5 hours, as you watch, sip and savor every delicious bite.
