I stopped in with family on Saturday afternoon.
Food and service were great. There was a minor delay with a dish. The leadership team came out promptly to address our needs and exceeded expectations in making sure we left satisfied. Looking forward to coming back next time.
We have been coming to this restaurant for a very long time
We have been coming to this restaurant for a very long time and one of our favorite waiters Jose always takes great care of us. The service is always great and the food is always fantastic. We also appreciate the lovely lady Francesca . She always makes us feel very welcome. And yesterday we met the lovely manager Amanda and we very much appreciate her coming to the table and checking on us. We definitely recommend this place to anyone that's looking for great food and great service
FOOD I have eaten here three times, and have always enjoyed
FOOD I have eaten here three times, and have always enjoyed the food! INSIDE The restaurant is located at Santana Road towards the end where the Yard House is located. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but it is more of an upscale steak restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I have eaten outdoors in January before, and it was not my favorite because I don't like being cold. It was enclosed, but still not as warm as I would have liked considering I run cold. The ambience inside feels like a typical steak restaurant, lighting is on the darker side, wood decor, and white tablecloths. STAFF the service here has never been an issue. I think they make sure to hire well trained servers that know what they are doing.
I still remember years ago, when LB Steak proudly displayed
I still remember years ago, when LB Steak proudly displayed entire cuts of dry-aging beef right by the entrance. It was striking -- the kind of detail that instantly caught your attention and drew you in. On my recent visit, that display wasn't there. Instead, I came across something equally exciting: beef tartare and a wagyu burger. Beef tartare is already rare to find on menus, and LB Steak delivers it perfectly. If you're a tartare lover, this will hit the mark -- for me, it's a 10/10, absolutely flawless. I would come back for this dish alone, no matter the price. The wagyu burger? Worth a try, but the tartare is the real star.
The three us started with a seafood tower and the hamachi
The three us started with a seafood tower and the hamachi with green apple ponzu. The seafood tower was an excellent assortment of oysters, large prawns, poke and a whole lobster. The hamachi was also excellent with a mild green apple ponzu with deep fried jalapeno that didn't overpower the flavor of the fish. The main courses were the Tomahawk Ribeye for 2 and the Branzino. The steak was perfectly cooked, had a thick ring of fat around a large solid mass of medium rare steak and the Branzino was well complimented with a citrus sauce. The only misses were the sides. The yukon potatoes arrived a bit cold which they promptly corrected with fresh hot bowl. The Brussel sprouts were a bit al dente but had good seasoning. We actually thought about asking them to cook them well done since we prefer them soft but decided not to. We were celebrating two birthdays so we each got a comp piece of chocolate cake with berries. It was a bit on the pricey side but that was offset with a $50 credit from the In Kind app (see LB web site) and a 20% credit back from In Kind towards any restaurant they partner with. We left stuffed and happy!
I have to say the service and ambience is excellent but we
I have to say the service and ambience is excellent but we went for the steak and it just was not up to par for a steak house. It was overcooked and flavorless. I don't understand the high reviews. Service is 4 stars. Good would be 2.
This place is horrible.
By far the most driest burger I've ever had. A few other people I went said their dish was not good either. I also had a co worker tell me he didn't like this place either. Don't waist your money. I don't see how this place is still open.
The service was outstanding! Our server Kelly really went
The service was outstanding! Our server Kelly really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The outdoor area is much nicer with glass walls. The mac&cheese now has lobster AND pork belly. I think it would be better without pork belly it kind of overpowers the lobster and it used to be in a cast iron with flamed bread crumbs - they should go back to that! Overall had good steak (filet mignon) and nice dining experience.
5% surcharge, $6 bread, and pay extra for every item
Very pricey. And, for that high-priced meal they state at the bottom of their on-line menu: “A 5% surcharge allows us to provide the hospitality that you have always enjoyed.” If you are already charging exorbitant prices, why do you need to add 5% to give us hospitality, which is what your business is? Your Entrée comes with nothing. Every side, including bread, is charged extra. I find this to be tacky. That said, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was more quiet than other restaurants at Santana Row, & comfortable (although, their booth seats are incredibly low, so the table is at your upper chest – I’d request a table with only chairs), & the service was decent. There is a bar area at one side of the restaurant, & as there were some football games playing, it did get very loud at times from the cheering on of teams. If I didn’t care about costs, or if it was a company-paid meal, I would rate this restaurant as 5 stars overall. The Food: The warm bread that you are paying $6 for, was not warm. It came with a ball of butter with black salt on top, which made the bread taste delicious! The bread was nothing special, but the black salt on the butter was. There were 5 pieces of bread in the basket. We also started with the Vanilla Bean Old Fashion, as a cocktail; it was delicious & different. We ordered the Roasted Beet Salad, & it was one of the highlights of the meal. It is seasonal. It had loads of flavor, looked even better than the photo on their online menu, & is definitely the salad I would order if I were to go back. I ordered the 6 oz. Filet Mignon, which is $50 (comes with nothing but a garnish). I ordered it to be cooked Medium. It was Medium-rare, quite red, but still scrumptious. I would have preferred Medium. You can get sauces with the steak; I asked for the Tarragon Bearnaise sauce. Then it was suggested to try all 4 of the sauces to see which was best, to which I agreed. I received 3 sauces; I don’t believe I got the Tarragon Bearnaise sauce I originally wanted, although they said that was one of them; it tasted solely as butter, so I thought it might have been their Blue Cheese Butter sauce. Either way, I would not order whatever sauce that was, unless you like to add what tastes like butter to your meat. The Green Peppercorn sauce was very mild, and nice, but not a lot of flavor; you may like it if trying to mainly just taste your meat. By far, for me, the best sauce was the Red Wine Bordelaise. It had a lot of flavor. I know many want to just enjoy the taste of the steak, itself, but for me, the Red Wine Bordelaise added delicious flavor that enhanced every bite. My friend ordered the Pork chop. It was a very large piece of meat; especially compared to the Filet Mignon. It had small spiced pear pieces on it, which were tasty. She enjoyed her pork chop, but said the beet salad was her favorite part of the meal, and then the onion rings she ordered, & the pork chop came in 3rd as her meal favorite, over the bread basket. Since nothing comes with your expensive entrée, we ordered a couple of sides. I ordered the mashed potatoes, which were pureed to be very smooth & somewhat thin. I prefer my mashed potatoes to have a bit more thickness to them. They did not have much flavor, but once I poured some of my Red Wine Bordelaise sauce on them, it definitely amplified the flavor tremendously. I would not order the mashed potatoes, unless I could get that sauce with them. It moved the potatoes from a 3 to a 10. My friend loved the onion rings she ordered as a side, which comes with a blue cheese dressing to dip them in. When my steak arrived, I asked about a glass of red wine & what they had. They did not provide a wine list for me, but just mentioned a few, without mentioning prices. I was not paying for this meal, & hope I didn’t order an exorbitantly priced glass. It was a Cabernet, & was very smooth, but I would have liked to have known how much it was. We did not order dessert, but did look at the dessert menu. One thing they have, that you don’t see many places, other than on cruise ships, was a Baked Alaska. If that is something you love, this may be one of the few places that you can get that. Overall, we loved our meal, & I would happily go back if a business meal; I tend to not love spending a fortune on food, so it would only be a place I would go to on the rare occasion that I wanted something unique & different for a special night, if paying myself. Since most steak places charge much more these days for their meals, I possibly shouldn’t be subtracting stars regarding the price, but to be charged for every single side, including bread, & to see their 5% surcharge, for providing what is their business, I start to feel nickel and dimed. We are not in the middle of the pandemic. I did not see any extra cleaning details being made. The restaurant was full of customers on a Sunday night. They are located in a busy area, where there are many apartments surrounding it, and many business clientele staying at the hotel within Santana Row. They do not seem to be hurting for business. Drop the extra surcharge. If price is not a concern to you, then I would certainly encourage you to try this restaurant. If you don’t like being over-charged, then I would take a look at the on-line menu first, so you can see pictures of what your food will look like, as it may lead you to order differently, and use the online menu as a basis for determining if the restaurant is within your budget and appeals to you.
Drinks are three sips and steaks very thin.
Portions are sadly too small and not worth it. The $24 old fashion had about three sips total. The glass had massive ice cube, see pictures. The ribeye was thin and not cooked rare as requested. It was so thin it’s hard to cook rare. We all kinda marveled this place a still open because it’s just way overpriced and the quality is not good.
Just avoid Francesca at reception
Food is good, not extraordinary but good. Everyone is kind, just make sure to avoid Francesca at reception, rude and unpleasant lady.
Very nice.
Arrived within the time I was given when ordering. Excellent value for the money compared to other similar products I looked at. would definitely recommend.
Taken for a ride or not
We arrived on time and were seated.found out place did not provide bread, charge $4 for 6 small slices. Here it goes, we ordered our dinner. Tomahawk steak paid $$$$. What we got was meat and bone separate. There is no way that meat and bone were ever together, steak about 40 to 45 % was fat, No that's not exaggeration. And while waiting for steaks, we order more bread. (It never came. But I got charged for it) I keep receipts so I know where not to go. Also, I checked with other steak houses. They served tomahawk with bone unless asked not to. Yes, I paid the bill, but I wanted no issue. This was a daughter in law Birthday Celebration. Thought I would talk to management. It's not possible, so I sent an email. Nothing so far . But who knows. Did I get taken on this meal. Oh, we had mash potatoes and mushrooms on side. I know what you're thinking and no it. Place was not reak busy. Order was a mess, servers did try kudos for them. Order was a mess
Great steak and GF options
Got the shrimp cocktail as appetizers. Then had the filet 6oz, was excellent. Wanted the baked potato but was not gluten free so got the sautéed spinach instead.
