L'Ardente Washington Reviews from The Last Year
It was my second time at L'Ardente.
This time was on a Tuesday right after work so I was surprised to see how packed it was already at 6pm. The ambiance felt so light and airy with the sunlight. We sat by the window and the service was very attentive l. Different staff kept coming checking on us and changing our plates and utensils after every course. It was nice. For starters, we had the rice balls which were so hot and full of flavor. The prawns were a hit too. You can smell them getting grilled and the sauce was so delicious. The whole branzino over capers/herbs was just so right. The server cut the head and tail for us as well. For dessert, we had a cool lime pie. It was to creamy for my liking. Left happy!
Upcoming spot in the social scene of DC
There was a lot of hype about this place so we decided to check it out. The crowd was mostly couples on a date and large groups of friends. A very lively atmosphere. Definitely a hot spot in the making. Service was good, server was friendly and gave us a few suggestions. When it comes to food, we ate well. Lasagna was their specialty but it was just ok. The stars of the night were definitely the chili prawns and the sour apple ice cream. Make sure you get them!
I was pretty bummed out by the 40-layer Lasagna.
It was called award-winning, but it was just a bunch of horizontal layers, so you could only taste a few layers at a time. It was pretty average, nothing special. The linguine was undercooked, and the tiramisu was a letdown. The rum and passion fruit were overpowering, and you couldn't taste the tiramisu at all. But, on the bright side, the Risotto was amazing. I'd go back just for that dish!
Amazing experience!
My son recommended this restaurant for celebrating my husband’s birthday. Oh boy!! The ambience, food and our server Sebastian were all amazing making it a wonderful experience!! Double thumbs up !!
What a great find! Hands down, the best Italian food I have
What a great find! Hands down, the best Italian food I have had in DC!! I almost didn't dine here, because seating was full. I am glad that I decided to sit at the bar (something I typically would not do). The bartender (Dennis) was amazing, he knew the menu very well & made some great suggestions. The lasagna is 40 layers with short rib and the sauce in the Zucca was I would highly recommend!
Delicious meal! 40 layers of Lasagna was fantastic! Service
Delicious meal! 40 layers of Lasagna was fantastic! Service was great! We will be back next time we are in D.C.!
Came here for my husband's birthday.
Everything was very tasty and it did not disappoint! Portion sizes were decent also.
Run do not walk.
The truffle lasagna is likely one of the best meals I've ever had. Couple that with amazing service and a stunning dining room and you'll have an epic evening.
Great food, service was not the best and they already added
Great food, service was not the best and they already added 20% gratuity. The worst part was people went to the bathroom a few times in our group. Every time complaints of pee everywhere and on the seats. When we notified who seemed to be the manager upon leaving the only excuse was that it's DC law for gender neutral bathrooms. I didn't know this meant it's DC law to not keep your bathroom clean. Additionally we had two birthdays today and yesterday, dessert was not complimentary. Kinda hard to justify for how pricey the menu is.
L'ardente has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants
L'ardente has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in DC, and it deserves a solid five out of five stars. The dining experience is spectacular. The branding was incredibly flavorful and delicious, and the fact that they deboned it for you adds a nice touch of service. The pizza was equally impressive, bursting with rich and satisfying flavors. But the highlight for me was the 40-layer lasagna - it was an explosion of taste with every bite. To accompany my meal, I had a French 75, which is a drink you can never go wrong with. If you're in Washington, DC, L'ardente is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Loved the food and service.
I recommend sitting at the chef's table. We were able to chat with the chef, see the food being prepared and meet with other guests. The cocktails like the famous neon above the bathroom door, they are both classic. Look forward to heading there again. Vegan friendly.
The service and cocktails were on point.
I would definitely recommend trying L'Ardente!
I would go back for dessert
Initially stumbled upon L'Ardente by accident in their first month of opening in 2021. They were busy, but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. I would have given them 5 stars after the first visit, but I've been back three times since and a 3-star rating seems more fitting. During all my visits, I've tried various drinks, apps, entrees and desserts. Drinks-wise, I used to love their Amalfi which was not too sweet and had just enough liquor, but it appears they've removed it from the menu. On my first visit, I also enjoyed their espresso martini; however, it was a bit of a letdown on my last visit. Please note that they have two espresso martini drinks on the menu - both cost the same. I believe the main difference is one comes with whip cream and one does not. On my last visit, I tried the Negroni Fumo and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes beautiful presentation and smokey drinks. From appetizers and entrees, nothing really stood out. All the items tasted fresh and pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I know they're known for the 40-layer lasagna and while not bad, I just don't get the hype especially at the $38 price tag. My favorite part about L'Ardente are their delicious desserts. I've tried several ones and liked every single one of them. Chocolate-y but not too sweet, just the way I love my desserts. I would definitely go back for their desserts alone. Service has always been friendly and welcoming. Please note that an automatic 20% tip is added to all checks. I would return for drinks and desserts, but wouldn't go out of my way.
Diner
Extremely tasty food, fast service, very friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. The prices are very good and compared to Washington.
Good Food
I thought the food was very good. The prices are comparable to what I would expect in DC for this type of restaurant. Not high-end, but in the nicer range. The service a little spotty, and since I was solo they put me in a less than idea corner even though there was plenty of seating. The service is the reason I could not give it a 5.
Wonderful food, very good service, perfect Birthday dinner
I gave my son a choice between two highly rated Italian restaurants in DC for his birthday dinner, and he chose the one with the smaller menu. He selected well by going with L’Ardente. The food… every dish from the fried cauliflower to the bread with olive oil dip to the four different pasta dishes we ordered to the desserts were just perfectly presented, perfectly portioned, and exquisitely flavored. We enjoyed every bite. With a family of four ordering three full courses, we usually encounter at least one not-so-great dish even at really good restaurants… thus was that rare time when everything was just so delicious, just the right temperature, and all beautifully presented. Service was excellent. Yes, a few mistakes from relatively new staff, but they quickly fixed all issues and were all friendly and accommodating—made us feel very welcome. L’Ardente is definitely going on our “must return” list of restaurants in the Washington-Northern VA-Maryland region. Highly recommended!!!
Definitely a Vibe
I had heard many good reviews and had wanted to try this restaurant for a while. The restaurant is a nice place to have dinner with friends, enjoy a date night, or have a drink at the bar by yourself. I really liked the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant, and the service, food, and drinks were good. I also appreciated that they had many vegan and gluten-free options. Our waiter recommended the 40-layer lasagna, and it was good. I will definitely be back for drinks and to try other items on their menu.
Great Italian Restaurant
Fantastic restaurant. Great food presentation. Lasagna was out of this world. Great deserts. Great location near the national mall.

All around really enjoyed this place, their food and the general vibe. Service was awesome and management checked in on us!
We love this place.
We started out with the Prosciutto Di Parma and Carciofi. I had the parpadelle, my wife the layered lasagna, and my daughter the ravioli. Our drinks were great (old fashion, pinot grigio, and etc.). Desserts Teramisu Flambe and Ricotta Cheesecake. All items were delicious and most are in the photos already. Service was great, bathrooms clean, ambiance was inviting. We are not used to DC, so I have never seen a 20% added for service workers and then they said an additional tip would be generous. We don't have that even at the nicer restaurants in Nashville, so I didn't know how much to tip with the 20% already added. Usually, that is "baked" in the food cost where we are from.
Amazing food.
Loved the 40 layer lasagna , seafood dish and my cocktail was also delicious ! Ambiance is great for date night / special occasions.
Very underwhelmed by my last visit.
The best items of my meal were the ones that weren't prepared by the human hands: the red wine and oysters. Now as for the meal: 1. I ordered the 48 layers lasagna, I couldn't even eat it halfway. The sodium levels were high, it was almost like I was just eating salt. 2. I had to order a desert to counter all the salt on my tongue and throat that the wine nor water washed away. I ordered the Tiramisu (it was different and I wasn't impressed) 3. Then for my desert drink I ordered an espresso martini and requested they substitute the vodka with tequila. The establishment charged me a shot of patron and the drink. Most establishments just make the liquor substitute which is weird on their part and of course the drink came out tasting like patron. The morning after my throat and tongue still taste like salt. Of the two stars, one is for the oysters the other for the red wine.
5/5! Highly recommend the Duck Hunt and any of the pastas.
Service was quick and professional
Incredible experience.
Such a beautiful restaurant and the staff is amazing! We were indecisive on which wine to choose and their wonderful sommelier, Kendrick, helped us find something we loved. Service was stellar and the manager was absolutely impeccable. Will be returning and I highly recommend.

Decided I really needed the 40 layer lasagna for my birthday this year -- let me tell you guys, the food did not disappoint! We started off with the Arancini and Margarita pizza, both were delicious! The cheesiness of the arancini with the chili oil was to die for. The pizza was tasteful and cooked perfectly. Let me not get started on the lasagna, it lived up to the hype. The rib meat in the lasagna gave it a different taste but in a good way. One small note - we def thought the portion was going to be a bit bigger. Nevertheless it was good! For dessert we had the Tiramisu Flambé and the soft serve. The presentation was so cute and fun. The service was fine, our waiter was nice but he could've been a little more helpful since it was our first time here. Our drinks were good too! Overall, great experience for my birthday! Would def be coming back :)
Quite possibly the best Italian restaurant in DC and
Quite possibly the best Italian restaurant in DC and certainly among the best places around. I find myself thinking about the pappardelle, lasagna, and the duck soup on par with how often I think about the Roman Empire. The only thing off with the experience is the tacky neon sign referencing cocaine by the bathrooms; otherwise perfect.
Okay okay okay I get the hype now, I really do! We came
Okay okay okay I get the hype now, I really do! We came here with a group of 9 people who were all excited to share lots of things on the menu, which (in my humble opinion) is the best way to try a restaurant for the first time. We got a good selection of the menu and I really think I got a good feel for what L'ardente is all about. First, our server was super attentive and kind. I know with 9 people it can get hectic, especially on a Friday night, but he never forgot anything and kept a smile on the whole time. 10/10. I'll list the items we tried in order of my favorites: Zucca Arancini Bucatini Cacio e Pepe Hamachi Crudo Ravioli Lasagna Americana Pizza Cheesecake Gianduja S'mores Tiramisu Flambe My favorite cocktail was the Arancia Rossa Margarita, which was super gorgeous and also very delicious. The mule was syrupy and barely drinkable imo, but the Frozen Sicilian was also a winner.
Overhyped! It was fine but wouldn't come back.
For first timers, be aware that they tack on a 20% service charge to your bill. Duck ravioli (3.5/5): This was mostly sauce with a tiny piece of ravioli, hardly any duck flavor or filling. Sauce was good but it was about 85% of this appetizer. Zucca (2/5): Lacked in flavor--I had to ask the waiter for black pepper and red pepper flakes. Very bland red sauce and the sausage was good, but had clearly not had time to properly immerse into the sauce. Bland and definitely could be prepared better at home. 40 layer lasagna (4.5/5): This was the best dish of the night! Flavor was fantastic, presentation was great, and it was a sizable portion. Really delicious. Pretty much the only thing I'd get again, carried the entire dinner. Tiramisu flambé (2/5): Presentation was cool so I can't dock it more than the current score but it was truly the most lackluster tiramisu...the flambé was cool but completely unnecessary as the alcohol did not burn off properly. Dessert was not soaked evenly in espresso and alcohol, leaving some pieces tasting very bitter and some with an overpowering coffee flavor. Would not get again. Service was also incredibly slow. Tables around us were waiting for the waiter to take their orders and sitting around. Ambiance is nice and definitely geared toward a younger, hip crowd--not too loud or too dark, which is a plus. Unfortunately, the meal was lackluster--plenty of better Italian in the city and I would not return on my own volition. But if I came with a group, I'd try a couple more apps and get the lasagna again.
Overhyped and underwhelmed
For the price, I suppose I was expecting better ambience and more attentive service. Granted, we were there on a busy night, but two of the toilets were backed up and the bathrooms were pretty gross. Service wasn’t the most attentive and with a $35 surcharge for truffles on top of already pricey entrees, the truffles weren’t even shaved tableside. Large, large restaurant with the vibe of a mid-range casino. Lasagna was tasty but overall not impressed.
Good food but…
Three of us visited in late December. The 40 layer lasagna and the fig dessert were very good. Service could have been more attentive, water glasses were left empty several times and we had to ask to order cocktails. The worst part was being seated next to a family group where the children were seldom in their seats and allowed to jump up and down behind other guests. I feel like the staff should intervene when other diners are that disruptive. Overall it’s a nice restaurant with some very good dishes. Unfortunately, lots of restaurants have staff issues these days.
Super
Really loved the food and the service. Would highly recommend to all. The lasagne was the best I ever had!
One of the best places in DC
Absolutely one of the best places in DC. Great service, ambiance and amazing food. Perfect for a date night or just to get out. Can’t say enough about the food, it’s unique and delicious. An absolute must
Pricey but top notch brunch
While L'Ardente is pricey, we found the Saturday brunch top notch. The caesar salad was excellent and had a different twist with lemon bits and mint; my pasta was quite good, and my friend's wild mushroom pizza may be the best I've ever had. We found the desserts not as good as the main dishes although the cheesecake was quite good. L'Ardente lives up to its creative culinary reputation.
Loud brasserie with decent food
This is pretty good spot if you’re looking for something Italian and lively. It was not what we were expecting. Some dishes are better than others. Arancini and “fresh focaccia” were cold in the middle. Pizza seafood pasta were excellent. Crudo fish just ok. Spiced apple dessert was strange and didn’t seem fresh. Service was warm and very friendly. The guests are an interesting cast of characters
Great food and atmosphere
40 layer lasagna - if you are on the fence about what to order just know the lasagna needs to be ordered because it’s amazing.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
