L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele Napoli Reviews from The Last Year
Wow! What a Tourist Trap!
I spent six days in Naples and saved this famous restaurant for my last visit. Honestly, I wanted to like this place because I had been impressed by all the other restaurants I visited, with Cantina Del Gallo being my favorite. However, this restaurant is completely overhyped with bad pizza and forced tips. I paid 8.50 euros for a pizza and a glass of water, but the waitress insisted I pay a 2.50 euro tip, bringing the total to 10 euros. This is much more expensive than other places in the area. The pizza was bad because the ingredients were cheap and subpar compared to other locations. The tomato sauce was nearly tasteless and lacked tanginess, the cheese tasted cheap, and the dough was very chewy with no substance or flavor. The only thing I could taste was the char on the dough, which otherwise tasted like paper. I cannot recommend this overhyped restaurant and suggest going to other places, as they are all better than this one.

The pizza was amazing! The wait time is very long, and best for smaller groups. There are limited pizza options: * Marinara * Marinara Extra * Cosacca * Marita
The wait for this L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele is genuinely
The wait for this L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele is genuinely unjustified. I was stuck under the outside of an AC, which released heat on me as the line didn't move for 40 minutes. I soon grabbed a ticket and got in to sit down before my brother got to order who held my spot in line. The AC for the sit-down is excellent, and I don't know if the oven they use is different for the sit-down, but one would hope so, seeing the travesty they served me. The crust tasted burnt, and the dough somehow felt undercooked. Overall, the flavors of a classic pizza failed to deliver, and I'm utterly disappointed in the standards at such a renowned place.
Pizza margarita was amazing and the service was very fast
Pizza margarita was amazing and the service was very fast and enjoyable. The ambiance is unique to this pizzeria. It's definitely a stop in Naples.
Undoubtedly the best pizza I've ever eaten!!! First things
Undoubtedly the best pizza I've ever eaten!!! First things first, the guy at the entrance who controls the crowd is my guy!!! Listen, Napoli folks are misunderstood. Many friends told me, "they're rude", "they're mean" and other things, but after seeing them in person I completely disagree. So back to guy. The guy stands in the front. People walk up to him and just stare and then he yells at them "eat here or takeaway?" Then the person says something other than those two words and starts asking a question, then he retorts, "eat here or takeaway?" It's a simple question. Once you tell him one of the choices, he gives you number or directs you to the takeaway line. It's pretty simple. That's why I think it's important to watch and observe before you go embarrass yourself. Hahaha. Anyway, after we got our number called to eat in, we got our table and ordered from the easy to order menu which consists of three choices. The OG Margherita and the other two. We only came for the OG. It was magical! It was as good as the big mouthed actress, and hooker actor Julia Roberts describes in Eat, Pray, Love. The location is in a small street area that gets super packed with people which results in cars honking for you to get out of the way, but nevertheless the location is special. While you wait, there will be people from other restaurants that will try to get you to eat their pizza and while it might be good, it's not this locations good. Definitely must have while in Napoli.

Oh. Mm. Gee. I think I found the best Pizza Margherita I have ever had. It's such a simple pizza, but with the best dough, tomato sauce, and Mozzarella, it is the best pizza. The lines are long for take-out, but moves pretty fast. Being seated and served may be faster. There are two storefronts that serve dine-in customers, and they constantly communicate with each other. Either way, you gotta try this!
Despite popular opinions on the restaurant, regrading the
Despite popular opinions on the restaurant, regrading the historic pizza servings, its supposed original taste, and service, I had an issuing experience. The pizza I ordered their Marinara option, which tasted oddly generic, and though it was not at all bad, it definitely did not meet the hyped expectation that the restaurant has influenced. While I may have gone into the restaurant late during rush hour, the service was definitely not focused enough on the customer given the reputation and rather the business' flow, which of course is natural during rush hours, but is a testament to the inconsistency of the restaurant's supposed good service. The environment though chaotic during rush hour still gives the family own business feel with its decor. Overall, the experience was decent.
La pizza bruciata non va bene.
Burnt pizza is no good. You can go anywhere else for the same kind in Napoli!
Iconic spot for tasting pizza in a city where pizza was
Iconic spot for tasting pizza in a city where pizza was born. The line is long (easily greater than 2 hour wait) and the menu is short (4 items total), but talk about great value only ~5 euro per authentic pizza experience. Like most people, we pulled a ticket to wait for dine-in and waited in the take-out line as well, since we weren't sure which would get called first. Ultimately we ended up dining in which was super exciting -- the interior was more spacious than it looked on the outside. Clean and high ceilings with photos on the wall of celebrities who had ventured here in the past. Simple menu so can't possibly go wrong. The margherita was my favorite and went great with a glass of Coca Cola or cold beer. Cheers!
World famous and arguably the best pizza in the world but
World famous and arguably the best pizza in the world but it didn't live up to such lofty expectations for me. The wait can be long and for those going the first time if you want to eat inside you go to the front and ask for the number, the line on the side is for take out. Also if you want to do take out you can actually do pickup or get it delivered you can use a local food app which I did the first time and got the food in 20 minutes and much faster than those in line waiting. Nostalgia and history 5/5 Price 5/5 Taste 3.5/5 The pizza was good but I found the cheese quite chewy which is not something I have found with classic margarita pizzas, the cheese is usually soft. The sauce and the dough were good but overall I really wasn't wowed by this pizza, maybe my expectations were too high, maybe they have gotten so busy that they changed the recipe a bit? They let you do half and half which lets you try with cheese and without. I do think it's still worth a visit if you are in Napoli but it may not end up being the best pizza you ever had or have so maybe come in with more balanced expectations but it's an overall worthwhile experience. I also went twice to rule out that it might have just been a bad day and the food was consistent.

The pizza at this restaurant was absolutely delicious, with a perfect blend of flavors and a crispy crust that hit the spot. However, the line was incredibly long and moved at a snail's pace, which was quite frustrating. Waiting for what felt like an eternity really dampened the overall experience. It's a shame because the food was top-notch, but the wait time was a serious drawback. They definitely need to work on their efficiency! The ambiance in a long, cramped line is uncomfortable, with close quarters, impatience, and frustration making the wait feel endless.
The most amazing and tasty pizza
The most amazing pizza in the world! It is one of the oldest and most famous pizza restaurants in Naples. Prepare to wait about 20 minutes (or more) for takeaway and about an hour to be seated but it is definitely worth it. I would recommend takeaway, inside seems too overcrowded and noisy.
The best pizza in the world
The best pizza ever , it is a sinn coming to Naples and not trying this ! There is a reason why it has a michlen star . Siple ingredients but the taste is just the best
The pizza was very good.
But this is Napoli. It has to be. And so are many other places here. And taste is like beauty: it's in the eye of the beholder. We didn't particularly like the crust soggy and chewy. A bit of crunch would've been nice. But that's according to your taste. What surprised me was while paying at the front, the waiter came over with his hand open a foot away from me and said "service not included. Tips!" I looked at him for a split second and promptly gave over the change. It wasn't worth asking why they were asking, no, demanding, tips. We're here to have a good time. But that was a major turn off. I sure hope they don't import that awful American custom. It has really gotten out of hand in the US.
Great pizza! Might be the best I've had however the wait in
Great pizza! Might be the best I've had however the wait in line and the pizza went over 90 min other then expect to wait!
Great food and service.
The pizza is amazing and it's worth a drive for it. I also had some non-pizza items which were also great. I highly recommend this restaurant and it has a great atmosphere as well.
Best Napoli Pizza Hands Down.
We have a L' Antica in Santa Barbara in Southern California. We have eaten there 3 or 4 times. We couldn't wait to compare the US version vs Naples. Hands down Naples is the winner. Not even close We will be back soon.
4.5/5 One of the most famous pizzerias in the world, would
4.5/5 One of the most famous pizzerias in the world, would it lived up to the hype?? I had to try it. So I have to say I am used to American pizza which has meats, and different toppings. Once you get used to Margherita or just accept the fact that you simply can't get toppings on your pizza you're on your way. The first time I passed by here there was a long line but I was heading somewhere else so no problem. When I finally went to eat, about 7:30PM I figured out the system, there were 2 lines one where you were given a number and waited to be seated and the takeout line. Since I was by myself I opted for takeout as the place I was staying at was only a 5 minute walk away. I was here in the offseason so it was mostly Neapolitans with just a couple of tourists so the wait for a table was about 45 minutes+ while I waited about 5 minutes to get inside to place my order and then waited 10-15 minutes or so to pick up my pizza. The menu is really simple only 4 different pizzas to choose from: Margherita- tomato, fior di latte cheese, oil, basil Marinara- tomato, oregano, garlic, oil Cosacca- tomato, pecorino cheese, oil, basil Marita- half Margherita and half Marinara I opted for the Margherita and Cosacca. While Italian pizza is meant to be eaten with a knife and fork, if it is cut into slices I am going to pick it up to eat it. Both pies were excellent, you can taste the fresh tomatoes and cheese. The crust is very thin (which is why you eat it with a knife and fork duh!) which is how I like my crust. At only €5,50 per pizza it makes it all that much better. I have been told that you should not wait in line too long for a pizza in Napoli because there is always another good pizzeria just around the corner. I would recommend waiting a little to try the pizza here because it really is that good, probably the 2nd best pizza I had in all of Italy. In fact, I ate here twice while in Napoli. I give it 4.5 stars out of 5, rounded up to 5.
The classic! Do you need to go here? Yes.
Will the pizza change your life? Probably not. It's a small, super casual spot, but the waiters are quick and friendly and the pizza comes to you piping hot.
Amazing! Old school pizzeria.
.. where it all started! It a pick up only place that will keep you dreaming about the pizza fir the rest of your life. Order one pizza per person, trust me, they seem big but they are so light and delicious you can eat 10 of them and want more lol

In Naples, where pizza began! This is the second oldest pizzeria in Naples, and the pizza is OUTSTANDING! Get there early...the wait gets longer as the day progresses. The dine-in restaurant opened at 11:00---we were already #39! We opted for the take-away line, which opens at 11:30. We waited in line for about 15-20 minutes before placing our order of 2 Margherita pizzas; the pizzas took about 30 minutes. It was well-worth the wait! One pizza is perfect for two people. We were lucky to find a little table on the street about a block away to enjoy our Neapolitan pizzas with some cold Peroni beer! This was probably the best pizza I've ever had!!!
not worth the wait, like 2 hours for a pizza Small place
not worth the wait, like 2 hours for a pizza Small place with lots of tourist waiting outside.

Mama Mia! We were very fortunate to spend a few weeks in the Mediterranean and pizza in Naples was one of our planned culinary experiences. We used Yelp to find this outstanding authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurants. We got here around 11:30am and there was already a long line. awe opted to get two carry out margarita pizzas and it really didn't take too long. Maybe 20 minutes we found a street vendor down the street who gave us a table if we purchased drinks from him. Perfect! We ordered 4 Peroni Beers and opened the boxes. The pizza was delicious! Excellent! What a great experience to get pizza in Naples, Italy...the birthplace of PIZZA! . eccellente! Ciao!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
