Lagos TSQ New York Reviews from The Last Year

I came in for happy hour with a small group and we were lucky enough to get there early enough to grab seats. The ambiance is great. The place is very spacious. And the service was even better. The signature selections had options that I was pleased to try but I did keep it simple with wine. Next time I'll try some. I did get the fish tacos and was very impressed. Flavorful and filling, I personally did not need an entire even though I was tempted to get a side of jollof rice. Next time I will surely try, a great place to meet up with friends, go on a date or even go solo.
This place has a great overall vibe and music choice.
Cute areas for photos. The brunch I am assuming gets more lively later but it was ok when I came. Not too busy, good service. We had a Caesar salad to share as a starter that was much much better than expected. Split a jollof with goat meat after. Perfect amount of food. Didn't photograph all the drinks but tried a few and they were good. Overall good food and experience. Not a 5 star but definitely worth the visit if you're hoping to get a bit of a vibe with your meal.

I came here for my birthday dinner and I completely enjoyed myself! If you are looking for something laid back and chill, this is not your place. It's definitely chill, but the energy and Afrobeat music is so alive! I loved the jerk wings and the lamb for my entree. The jollof was ok, I've definitely had better. I got a dessert of brownies and ice cream that was really yummy. They have activities every night of the week, so I will definitely be back! Waitress was nice and sweet but the overall service could have been better.

So, Lagos could be the greatest thing in the world or the bane of your existence depending on what you prioritize in the nightlife arena. I'll start with the music which is absolutely fantastic. Whomever their DJs are, they chose well. You'll hear the standard hits and then you'll hear some niche but fire Genres from across the world (e.g. Reggaeton to Amapiano). This, to me is their greatest asset. The mixing is superb. You won't hear any dead air. You won't hear any excess microphone talking. Actually, you won't hear the DJ's voice at all and that's fantastic! If there was a reason to visit, the music would be it. The staff seems to be very stylishly dressed, all the time. Between the staff and the clientele, it definitely feels like a fashion show in there. So that's also a plus in my book. Unfortunately, every other aspect of the place has WIDELY varying levels of service. On multiple trips, I've found that the drink quality varies widely from bar tender to bartender. At up to $25 a pop, I would expect that each drink mixed would be superb, but it's not, at least not consistently. Table reservations can be made but it seems management prioritizes whomever appears first. So whether or not your timing is off, you may find yourself waiting an hour for your table to be found and "made ready." Compounding the variation in service quality is the fact that they charge as much as $40.oo per person at the door, on nights where the place is nowhere near full! It's a practice that other lounges have seemingly abandoned in favor of gaining money on bar sales instead. So I don't get this either. You'll find the food to be flavorful and authentic but again, the speed of service and the honoring of table reservations is questionable. Bottomline: If you're a music lover (especially strong ethnic genres like Amapiano, Reggaeton, Azonto, Dembow etc.) and DJ skill aficionado, this place is the place for you. If you like people-watching, it's the place to be. Otherwise, "buyer beware": Your large bill does not necessarily guarantee even a moderate level of service quality.

This is my 2nd time going back to Lagos Restaurant with a friend for an unofficial happy hour (I'm not sure if Lagos has an actual happy hour). Regardless, my colleague works in that neighborhood so when we need a change of scenery, we'd pop our heads in. The first time was just to drop by, late afternoon, for drinks and sit at their long elongated bar that probably seats up to approx 20-30 people. The overall decor on the first floor is nice. The bartenders on both occasions I have visited have been pleasant, cordial and cool. Lagos does a great job of having eye candy for the fellas as a few bartenders and waitresses look and dress sexy. Tab for 2 drinks and 2 appetizers ($12 each) came to approx $80 with auto included tip. Although the appetizers didn't blow me away (the fish tacos were excellent and the 'meat' taco whether it was goat or beef was to tough for me to chew...but overall the food and drinks were good overall. I have never been there in the evening and will stick to afternoon visits until my friend whips out his corporate expense card so that I can delve into their delicious looking main dishes. Would I recommend it? Yes. Check out other reviews as your milage may vary! Cheers all!

Can't Wait To Go Back! I was told that this is the sister restaurant of Lagos Times Square. It definitely exceeded my expectations! I loved the vibes. The DJ Was The BOMB! So good that I had to ask for her Instagram. There was an interactive dancer she was beautiful & engaging. The waiter was very attentive. I ordered Lamb chops with roasted potatoes. Both were bomb! I was eating and dancing it my seat the whole time lol this place was a whole vibe can't wait to go back!
I came here for a birthday dinner with friends.
This place was ehh ok. The music was the best part, but the attitudes with the door host is a no and off of that, I will not recommend. The waitress was nice and accommodating. The food not that great either. People have to realize no one has to spend money with you, we do it because we want to and if customer service is not good no one will come back. You are not doing the customers a favor.

Arrived in NYC and asked front desk clerk at hotel for a close restaurant suggestion and she recommended this place. OMG amazing. Our server Louis was not only patient with us out of towners but offered great suggestions. We started with happy hour margaritas coconut margarita was flavorful and very well mixed. You only need one I asked about the spice level of the pepper soup so he brought a sample. It was spicy and flavorful. Next, macaroni n cheese with jerk chicken. Bae bae kick your shoes off good. Entree Salmon with asparagus and jollof rice. Delicious!! I could have gone here every day but no carryout for drinks. lol. The music, atmosphere was very welcoming. The decor evoked relaxation and conversation. Will Definitely return.

Nice vibe, good music, the food was good but my friends and I didn't know about the mandatory 20% tip for every receipt . I think customer should have choice what to tip. Overall it was cool but we probably would not go again.
our waiter was great and had such great personality.
and the food matched the service. the vibe was great. very beautiful location.
First time but not the last
Our first time here, waitress was nice l, so was the host and manager who greeted us a few times. The food was really good, i got suya and jollof rice and my husband res snapper. The music i love and drinks weee food. Only thing is i wish the servers wore authentic african attire…our server had on a belly shirt and tights🙃nice spot though. I wonder whats upstair.
Horrible first impression
So we had a reservation for 7 people at 7pm. Half of our group walked in first and the rest were 10 mins away. Once the last people came we let the front person know and she acknowledged. Half an hour later we were still waiting. After letter when know- we were told that they sent for us and no one responded; lies! We were under the Lagos sign at the entryway taking group pics…so we were told, “two mins, they’re cleaning a table for us” ( evidently because they effed up and gave out table away. 8:21 came along and we were still waiting so we asked for the manager; the supervisor spoke to us, a nice thin Asian woman; we were seated 10 mins after. So and hour and a half wait. We just ordered so I will update later.
Great drinks and atmosphere
Excellent place for drinks. Staff were friendly and super fast with those cocktails, especially Chanelga. We popped in twice for drinks in Happy Hour and enjoyed frose and beer. Loved the atmosphere and beautiful chandeliers and great look of the place. Would highly recommend.
Worst birthday experience
It is one of the worst restaurants in the city. I went there in August and on my birthday (Sept 18). On my birthday, we were seated on the first floor at 9.00pm. The server didn’t show up till 9.22pm. We ordered our food and after we ate, we aired another 20 minutes before I approached one of the hostess in the front for to go plates. The server was at the back have a chat with some of the bar customers with some “touching” going on. The culture of familiarity between the servers and clients was so evident that it caused delay to getting services in time. The sever only cared about collecting and swiping our cards. There are also health code violations we saw which we will file the paper work duly with the Department of Health.
Great but………
Great food! Perfect location! Drinks are strong! Happy hour pretty nice too! Hosts,Servers and bartenders are always pleasant. My only gripe is the music. The music is so loud I can’t even hear my thoughts. Can’t converse with your friends so you just end up smiling and scrolling on your phone. They need to lower the music. I would at least like to hear my thoughts.
