Let’s eat in Baltimore
Quiet, low key Italian restaurant. The food was excellent as well as the service. The seafood pasta dish was fantastic.

We were excited to try this restaurant as there were a lot of great reviews, and a couple "so-so" reviews. I figured the "so-so" reviews were people that may have been hard to please - WRONG! One of our appetizers was the bruschetta, which some other people had bragged about. I looked at it and was surprised to see 4 pieces of bread with diced tomatoes on top, that was it. I tasted it, figured that the tomatoes probably had the balsamic vinegar already on them - nope. The bruschetta was just unseasoned diced tomatoes on toasted bread, zero flavoring, no cheese - for $14. I asked the waitress for some balsamic vinegar to add to it to at least add some flavor which helped. I had gotten the veal which was tender, but the capers in the white wine sauce was overpowering and very strong - very strong vinegar taste. Dessert was a 3 cheese cheesecake which was very good, that took the rating from a 2* to a 3*. Maybe they got a new chef since all of the good reviews, but I cannot recommend it as I've had better in the small rural town we live in. I'll try other places next time we're in Baltimore.

My wife and I ended up in Baltimore unexpectedly ( long story), and so we relied on Trip Advisor for restaurant recommendations. La Tavola reviewed well and we decided to try it. Fantastic experience from start to finish. Bruschetta was outstanding, veal was amazing, and the strawberry tiramisu was sublime! Service was excellent and the owner stopped by the table for a brief chat. Lovely experience. Well done Trip Advisor!

Located in Balimores Little Italy. Very friendly service. Reservations probably a good idea. Good sized portions. Give it a go.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific and varied menu with very good food! We’ll be back!
Overall very good food and great service. Visiting our daughter and hadn’t been here in several years-so glad we tried it again. We started by sharing the frito misto which we devoured, followed by salads. The insalata mista was good but the dressing was not very flavorful. My husband and I had the veal Norcina which was excellent, along with roasted root vegetables. Daughter had a dish similar to cioppino which she requested be served with linguine and it was wonderful with copious fresh shellfish. We barely had room for dessert but managed to eat profiteroles, tartufo and gelato affogato with coffee and cappuccino. Husband and daughter enjoyed a cocktail and wine. My only suggestion would be a tastier bread and a more lively salad dressing. There are wonderful selections on the menu yet to be tried so I look forward to another visit soon. Our waiter was very friendly and his service was perfect.
Be the first to ReplyRehearsal dinner!
We celebrated our sons wedding on Oct 22. We had our rehearsal dinner with 30 people at La Tavola on Friday Oct 20th. It was a wonderful dinner. Great staff. The food was spectacular. The manager (Anthony) was great to work with. He guided us through the whole process and was just wonderful. Everyone had a great time. Anthony also makes the BEST espresso martinis. Thank you Anthony for a wonderful night & dinner. Nancy & Chris Abod
Be the first to ReplyFresh food, really fresh
We were looking for a place for dinner, this place was about to close but they were so kind to let us in for dinner. Outstanding, fresh food. You can tell they made everything fresh. I just loved it. Nothing bad to say. Great cozy atmosphere. I would definitely go back and sip on wine and stay longer. We were respectful with our time and theirs. I have already recommended this place to my colleague who will be in Baltimore in a few weeks.

Delicious! That's it...that's the review. Just awesomely delicious. I ordered the pasta w speck & truffles.
Be the first to ReplyWon’t return
The waitress gets the 2 stars, the rest of the experience gets a zero. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. They don’t have meatballs because the cook is from a country that uses veal. The pasta was chewy hard, and the little bit of sauce had very little taste. Not even an average Italian experience. When I made the online reservation they asked if there was a special occasion. On the drop-down I picked birthday because it was my friends 61st birthday. When we were seated I asked the waitress if she was advised that we have a birthday person with us, and I advised on the reservation. She said they hadn’t told her yet. Well we did dinner and dessert, and never a word more about birthday boy. Why would a restaurant ask you this question, then get a reminder, and do absolutely nothing. We won’t return.
Be the first to ReplyWorth every handmade bite
We had planned a walking food tour that ended up getting cancelled and were recommend La Tavola for a meal as it was one of the stops. When I heard handmade pasta I was hooked! I used to make cavatelli with my Sicilian grandmother and when our kids were younger we made pasta together. La Tavola did not disappoint! Hubby took one bite of his spaghetti and said, ‘oh yeah this is good.’ I ordered the gnocchi and was in love from the first bite. If you’ve never experienced handmade pasta you definitely need to try LaTavola.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Italian Gluten Free Pasta!
I spent a long time searching for gluten free and dairy free food, while in Baltimore. I found this restaurant listed in GrubHub, and recommended by other gluten free sites. Since I was alone, and didn’t know my way around, I ordered the Strofie Vegetali for dinner, through GrubHub, for dinner, one night. This was hand made gluten free pasta, with a selection of vegetables, in a wine sauce. It came nicely packaged, in a reusable tray, with my utensils and some separate bread. Not sure the bread was gluten free, but it didn’t cause problems, when I ate it. Ate half for dinner, and cold leftovers for lunch, the next day. The cold leftovers were much like a pasta salad, with vegetables. Hotel did not provide a microwave, where I could reheat food, so I was forced to eat leftovers cold.
Be the first to ReplyNona would love it -- we did, too
We'd heard great things about La Tavola and it lived up to our high hopes. Everything was excellent, especially the Cesar salad, pasta, and frito misto. Very nice presentation, very able wait staff.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Food
Food was amazing, absolutely delicious. After taste testing some wine and coming to a decision, it took awhile for the server to finally bring my drink. However, they provided a lot of recommendations and were very knowledgeable on the menu items in general which was quite impressive. Definitely get an appetizer!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Marinara
Call me unimaginative but I love Veal Parmesan. The problem is that most restaurants these days serve it with a marinara that is too sweet. Not so at Tavola. The marinara (sauce) was tangy, as it should be, but not sweet. Perfetto! That said, the veal didn't need any sauce as it was so tender and tasty it could have stood on its own. Pasta was clearly homemade and perfectly served al dente. Service was attentive and friendly. Serving size could have been a bit larger (otherwise 5 out of 5) but, truth be told, I was full when I left. I'm a bit harsh when it comes to rating Italian restaurants but l will gladly recommend Tavola to my friends.

You cant go wrong eating at La Tavola. The food was good with generous portions. Our server was pleasant and attentive to everyone. The restaurant was packed but know one cared, it was a very festive atmosphere.

Must admit did our research, choose a different place to start- walked in and left to go to La Tavola. The powers that be were taking care of us. We came in (Rita, I think sorry me and names, the general manager) greeted us with a huge smile. Be informed she had her GM hat on as well as server hat! She made it all happen. We had incredible homemade mozzarella, so light and delicate as it danced across my palette what an experience. The filet carpaccio with arugula was yummy, must say the mozzarella ruled the appetizer course. Followed by the linguine taleggio with spek- well this stole the show! The pasta so light and creamy. The service was incredible, the food beyond words. A must! Wish I had take photos!!!

Everyone was kind, the drinks immaculate, and the homemade pasta was some of the best I’ve had outside of Italy. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding
Went to the restaurant mid week and could not have been more impressed. Staff is extremely friendly, made great recommendations for both food and wine and the food is excellent and unique. Had fried zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta cheese and crab meat as an appetizer – absolutely fabulous - veal scallopini was solid and the cheesecake was outstanding and unlike any cheesecake I have ever had before. Very uniquely prepared. Wine list is very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome gluten free Italian food!! Definitely worth a visit!!
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in all of Baltimore. They have gluten-free food I literally cannot find anywhere else in the entire Washington DC/Baltimore metropolitan area. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit!! Dining here is like dining with family. The atmosphere is casual but it is also nice enough and the food is special enough to be a special event restaurant. Plus I have always been thrilled with the food here. First, La Tavola has house made gluten-free pasta called strofe. It's a short thin twisted pasta about an inch long. Virtually all of the pasta dishes are gluten free if you use the gluten free strofe. I don't know of any other restaurant that has house made gluten-free pasta. They also house made gluten-free gnocchi. It's really awesome! The chef is from Venice and this restaurant has particularly awesome seafood. The chef often goes fishing because he has a commercial fishing license. He often serves at his restaurant in the evening what he caught during the day. It's really hard to get fish more fresh than that. In addition to the regular menu items, everyday there are some specials. (Special means it is not available all the time.) Usually there is a cartuchio offered every day. This is basically various fresh seafood with some vegetables that are baked in sealed parchment paper with a light wine and garlic sauce . The seafood bakes with the vegetables and all the flavors kind of merge and get sealed in. The server typically rips open the parchment paper at the table and you you're treated to this wonderful aroma of this yummy fish and vegetables combination. It's a wonderful thing. The chef likes to grill seafood as well. I particularly like the strofe with grilled calamari in red sauce. (This is a special.) I also like the scallops with chanterelle mushrooms (again a special). The scallops are lightly grilled. And the mushrooms give it a wonderful taste. I particularly like the zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and lightly breaded and fried. It is completely gluten-free! The chef is very accommodating. If the kitchen is not very busy, he will also make the fritto misto (fried calamari) gluten free! This again is a real treat because I literally cannot get this dish anywhere else. When they are in season, the chef also offers gluten free soft shell crabs!! It is totally awesome. It is lightly breaded with gluten-free flour then fried. It is crispy, never greasy. And it is served with a mustard sauce. Unfortunately it is now past soft shell crab season but this is also a very special treat. One dessert special I particularly like is the gluten-free tart. This is a real treat for any celiac! The chef makes tart with whatever fruit is fresh that day. It has a very nice crumbly crust with with this yummy fruit center. All I care is that it is gluten free and it is yummy. :) Again I highly recommend this restaurant. Dining here is like dining with family. It's a must visit for any celiac.

Excelent Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Great Chicken Parmigiana. Great wines and superb service. Great dessert variety.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, homemade pasta!
After reading reviews online, we decided to have dinner at LaTavola. It was a short walk from the Marriott Waterfront hotel. I had the squid ink pasta with clams and my husband had a seafood plate. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. The staff were friendly. We highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplySpectacular! Homemade Gluten Free pasta… delicious!
Gosh - where do I begin? This was a weeknight meal - our first time. Made reservations online for before our concert at Pier 6. It made a Wednesday feel like a Saturday! Great service. Lovely ambiance. Amazing food! (I require gluten free food, and they hit mark!!) We had all the courses - and a bottle of delicious white wine from Italia… it was all delectable!

Party of 12 w 3 children --service was outstanding . Food was average-chicken parm same quality you d find at a chain italian restairant. risotto was not creamy or seasoned well. Buratta app was very nice Nice to have vegan offerings and ability to make reservation Wine list was varied but very overpriced. Will check out another spot next time in little Italy
Be the first to ReplyHighly overrated
The neighborhood has alot of italian restaurants, pick a different one. It's expensive for ordinary food. Our friend ordered the pasta bolonese and received 2 small bowls, one with the sauce the other with the pasta. He requested more pasta but I don't know if he paid extra. He asked for meatballs but the owner scoffed, they don't serve meatballs in Italy. It's a very limited menu. The owner is arrogant and he doesn't care if he offends.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and atmosphere at a reasonable price.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the staff was amazing. We appreciate the quality of the food and the farm to table freshness. The burrata was the creamy and delicious with some extra good olive oil. The Linguini a la scoglio was full of fresh seafood…delicious. The prices were very reasonable. We would definitely come back.
