Annual Anniversary Trip
Having just returned from our annual trip to La Samanna to celebrate our wedding anniversary my wife and I are already looking forward to next years trip. La Samanna is truly a wonderful and relaxing place to visit. Eleanore and her staff make sure everything is perfect for each and every guest that is there. The attention to detail, service, and friendliness is at the highest level. If you choose to spend time at this beautiful Caribbean resort you will not be disappointed. Thank you to the entire staff for always making our visit a memorable experience. See you next year

We just spent our 12th wedding Anniversary and Birthdays at this property, our first Belmond, and it was truly as good as it gets. The staff is warm and genuine, gets to know you, and provides personal service; youโre not just โanother guest.โ The property sits right on the bay, so no rooms are that far from the beach unless you're staying in a villa, and then youโre perched on a cliff with your own pool, but it's a short walk. Properties in the Caribbean will never look โlike newโ unless they just opened yesterday because of the harsh weather, but the maintenance staff should get props for keeping this property looking great. I believe the free-form pool is getting a makeover this year when the resort closes for the season, so it looks โthe worst,โ if you can even say that. Every drink/cocktail we had at the resort was made quickly and expertly mixed. Weโre definitely going to miss those incredible FROSE and ST-GERMAIN SPRITZ; they were just fantastic. They even made the FROSE a little less sweet for me the second day. The food at the restaurants was also top-notch; they really have this figured out! If you can make this resort work on your budget, make it work! Itโs worth it. We will be back.

La Samanna is our favorite hotel! Weโve stayed at this hotel 2x, and would love to come back every year. We traveled here with toddlers and the hotel is very family friendly. The views are breathtaking and the staff is phenomenal! We felt very welcomed! I cannot recommend this hotel enough! You will not regret your visit!

The dedicated service at this resort is unparalleled. The classic dรฉcor and modern-chic amenities of the resort seamlessly blended timeless luxury with contemporary convenience, providing the perfect retreat after a day lounging on the beach. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional culinary offerings. The breakfast buffet was nothing short of extraordinary. Of course, the star of the show was the beach itself. Widely regarded as the best on the island, its powdery white sands and turquoise waters provided an idyllic backdrop for relaxation and recreation. For anyone seeking a truly great beach holiday experience, this classic Belmond resort is undoubtedly one of the best the Caribbean has to offer.

Spent Easter weekend here and Everything from A to Z was anticipated - we couldnโt have wanted for more. All the staff members were superb! The food at Spiaggi was amazing and the breakfast at Corail was perfection. Gorgeous views, cold drinks, exceptional food, and big comfy beach chairs = our perfect vacay. Thanks to everyone at La Samanna!
Be the first to ReplyExceptional Service, Unexceptional Value
We have stayed at a few Belmond properties and have been very impressed with the service, cuisine and ambiance, and La Samanna is no exception. The service is simply outstanding, and we had particularly great service from Nico, Ugo, and Candace (and all the staff at breakfast!) during our stay. Likewise we found the food to be terrific, and saw no need to leave the property during our week long stay. That said, we were disappointed in our visit, and the relationship of what we paid to the value we received. This hotel--now 50 years old--is in desperate need of renovation and refurbishment. Our room--a one bedroom "oceanfront" suite for $2200 a night--was tired, uncomfortably furnished, and while indeed facing the ocean, it was impossible to see from anywhere unless you stood at the window or on the balcony. Among the most irritating things about this hotel is that immediately upon arrival, we were told we were being "upgraded," but truth be told, we were put in an upstairs suite instead of one downstairs, which we thought we booked, with easy access to the beach, and nearly as far away as one could be from the main building of the hotel. We objected to no avail. While golf cart service was prompt, it's still a pain in the neck and so we certainly got our steps in walking to and from the main building, the spa and the gym. As remote as our room was, we still had to go down to the beach every morning and leave a book and a hat on beach chairs in order to be assured of chairs in close proximity to our room. This doesn't seem right at this price point. That said, the beach service, particularly from Nico, is simply extraordinary--you never have to worry about moving your umbrella, having a cold drink, or a fabulous lunch. His absence, however, was felt on his day off. There are two pools at this resort, and both need renovation. The heated pool actually has broken concrete right at the bottom of the entry stairs. The service at the pools is also lovely. Indeed, if service and food are Belmond's signature and brand, they are doing a great job. But if it's a luxury experience, La Samanna falls short. The fitness center is sensational, by the way, and seems the only part of the hotel that has been renovated. State of the art equipment, well air conditioned, water, towels, the works. For beach lovers, the ocean is lovely here, although a bit rough during our stay; clean golden sand and mostly rock free depending on the tides. Too bad that if you are sitting down in your $2200 oceanfront suite, in the bedroom, on the incredibly uncomfortable and small living room sofa or on the balcony, you can only see a white wall in front of you! To be sure, La Samanna is an iconic property, but it needs investment and TLC from Belmond to deliver on their brand promise of luxury.

There are St. Martin beaches and then there is the secluded Baie Longue beach at La Samanna St. Martin. This resort is truly extraordinary! A must for everyone's bucket list who enjoys beachfront resorts.

excellent staff. Professional, courteous and kind, across the board from the gardeners to the facility managers. Excellent Italian restaurant, Michele, the chef and all the staff. It's not the first time at Samanna, but I must say that every time it's always a wonderful surprise. This year the added value was certainly Antonio, a wizard of solutions for the most demanding customer. I hope to return for the next few years.

We just returned from another wonderful stay at La Samanna. We've been visiting for many years and there are lots of other repeat guests as well. The resort is beautiful -- the pools, the rooms, the beach and the landscaping are all extraordinary. The fitness centre is excellent and many people use the tennis courts. In addition to the beauty, a notable part of La Samanna is the fine staff. We were warmly greeted by everyone. The breakfast staff is very attentive and helpful. The breakfasts, overlooking the pool and the beach, offer a wide variety of choices. We also at dinner at La Spiaggia. The dinner was excellent and the Italian staff were charming. La Samanna reflects the outstanding management of Eleanore, the manager. She pays attention to all the details and takes all comments and suggestions from guests seriously. We are looking forward to our return next year.

LaSamanna is an amazing resort with the most beautiful view and friendliest staff in the Caribbean. The beach is flawless and the staff extremely attentive and interested to cater to your needs. We rank this the best resort in the world and will return back every year.

During my real life I take care of everyone around me: My ailing mother, kids, and husband, and my run my own business; La Samanna took care of me. The staff was constantly asking what they could do to make my stay more pleasant, and anticipated my needs, often before I knew I had them. The beach is unparalleled in its beauty, and we swam twice a day. The French restaurant is not to be missed. The lunch place had delicious, healthful offerings. Loved the rum sampler at the end of the meal. Antonio and Alexandra at the front desk, Sherlon who gave us our initial tour of the resort and magically showed up at our door on the afternoon of our departure just as I was wondering how to get our bags to the lobby, Sabrina and Tishana at the concierge desk, Janiqua at breakfast, and the excellent staff at the beach (Iโm sorry I donโt have their names because they took such good care of us), and Eleonore the general manager, who sent ius cake and champagne for our anniversary. If you want a beautiful resort, spectacular beach, excellent food and indulgent pampering, La Samanna is for you.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful resort and a wonderful experience
We just returned from our stay at La Samanna. It was a wonderful experience. The resort has a relaxed yet elegant vibe and while there are a good amount of guests, it was spread out enough that it felt quiet and not crowded. We traveled with our almost 4 year old and knew the resort was kid friendly but not kid-focused. The staff were incredibly warm and went ouf of their way to make our son feel welcome. If you do plan to travel with a toddler, it is a quiet resort, so a child(ren) who are used to being around adults would enjoy it. Breakfast and dinners at the resort are relaxed and quiet so we brought activities to entertain our toddler during meals to ensure that we did not disturb the other guests. During our stay there were a few other families but mostly young or middle aged couples. Beach: It was a wonderful few days of spending time at the beach and in our rooftop plunge pool. The beach is huge and chairs are spread out so you don't feel on top of anyone. We rented a cabana on the beach one day. It was nice to have a place to get out of the sun and relax and eat lunch. The staff set up a few umbrellas so that our son could play on the beach in the shade. We rented paddle boards and ventured around the cove. Note: there are boats that dock in the cove area so it can be a little crowded when doing water activities. Also, party boats do dock on the side of the beach near the cabanas and boat guests swim there/use the beach. It can be loud and take away from the relaxed vibe. The other end of the beach is much quieter. Food: The food is excellent and probably even better when you're not entertaining a toddler during meals. If you dine at L'Oursin you must order Marcel's Egg. Sunset cruise: We took a sunset cruise with our toddler which was great. It is a no frills speed boat that takes you around part of the island during sunset. They had a cooler of drinks, including champagne and beer as well as snacks. The captain did a great job of pointing out areas of the island/explainging the history but also giving us space to enjoy the ride to ourselves. Room: We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a "private" rooftop and plunge pool. The suite was large and they set up a small bed for our toddler. The shower pressure is amazing!! There is a small balcony off of the suite level with chairs. The stairs up to the rooftop are steep and narrow but it wasn't really an issue for us but might be for some. The rooftop is "private" - each building with a rooftop has two rooftops areas separated by a wall. We also had a full view of the rooftop of the neighboring building. From the pictures we assumed each rooftop was completely private and only for one suite. There didn't seem to be anyone staying next to us so we didn't feel self-conscious talking on the roof or letting our toddler have fun playing in the pool. Both the rooftop and balcony faced the ocean and the views were gorgeous. At night, we had drinks on the rooftop under the stars. Only issues: There were a couple of times when we called the front desk for assistance- to help clean up a broken glass in the room, extra pillows, help opening the rooftop umbrealla. They were slow to respond and we had to call a couple of times for someone to come. During the first night it sounded like the neighbors below us were playing music with bass. We thought it might just be normal nosies from the pool pump and couldn't confirm it was the neighbors music but the second two nights were much quieter. Overall we greatly appreciated how warm, welcoming and helpful the staff were. The resort is beautiful, the pictures give an accurate representation. It's the nicest resort on the island so if you're traveling to St. Martin you must stay here!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful Beach, Average Stay
The hotel has a gorgeous view and our room in the main house had a lovely balcony looking out to the ocean, but our overall stay was average. The concierge and hotel staff were very friendly and warm, but seemed a bit short-staffed at times. I understand the hotel was at full capacity, so I am sure things are more manageable in the low season. It seems the hotel predominantly caters to a mature clientele of regularly returning visitors, and I don't think it is the best fit for young professional couples or honeymooners.

Perfect in every way, beginning with a charming breakfast crew (rarer than diamonds), complimentary water coolers at the beach, and what a beach it is! Dinner under the stars (it's a fine mix of Island and French). Lulled to sleep with the sound of gentle waves. A mind, body and soul restoration.

We had an amazing time at LaSamanna. Everyone is genuinely friendly and they do everything to make you feel a special guest. Even others guests are friendly and smilling. The property is breath taking, and the Beach probably one of the best. We hilghy recommand this place even for a once in a lifetime.
Be the first to ReplyKeeps Getting Better
I have been to La Samanna a number of times over the past few years and the resort keeps getting better. The standout on this trip was the staff - who made us feel welcome at every turn - something that seems harder and harder to come by when traveling these days. Most recently I went with with my parents and children and everyone loved the experience. The water-sports were a highlight for my teenagers and the incredible beach and pools for everyone else. The beach at La Samanna is incredible - both spectacularly beautiful and not at all crowded. The casual dining options worked better for our family than the formal restaurant did. And things to do in St. Martin remain a little limited, even years past Irma and the pandemic - but we made excursions to Grand Case and Marigot for food and changes of scenery. With the ability to be on the beach within 20 minutes of landing (a direct flight for us) La Samanna remains at the top of my list for a getaway where you can relax completely.

My husband and I stayed La Samanna for six days. I am absolutely effusive about this property. We stayed in two different rooms, one in the main building and one in a bungalow on the beach and both were outstandingly comfortable with an understated glamour. If youโre looking for ease of access to the beach - for those sunrise swims you should definitely take - Iโd suggest a bungalow, but for breathtaking views of the sunset, go for a suite in the main building. Both are excellent choices. Although thereโs lots to do (water sports, yoga, pilates, etc) I decided to do almost nothing because just being there is wonderful. The beach is gorgeous. Iโd heard the sea was a little rough, but the little lapping waves were about as sassy as a swimming pool. The water is perfect. Aside from the beautiful grounds and natural setting, and the comfortable rooms, it was the vibe that really made this place extra special. They call Saint Martin the friendly island and that was my experience from start to finish. All the staff were so kind, and struck the perfect balance between providing exceptional service and maintaining the relaxed, unobtrusive vibe you expect on a beach vacation. They so often went above and beyond in little ways that I appreciated, from adapting dishes to my preferences without issue, and even letting me know the names of constellations I was curious about when we had dinner under the stars. Special mention goes to the beach staff, who work tirelessly and cheerfully, Romel at the beach restaurant, the staff at LโOursin, Leah at the breakfast buffet (where they have the best pain au chocolat - and I live in Paris), and the meticulous cleaning staff. An unforgettable experience.

Just returned home from a 4-night mother/daughter getaway. The resort has the most beautiful beach, with plenty of comfy lounge chairs and umbrellas, clean white sand, clear calm water, and unparalleled beach service!!! Our room was clean and spacious , with a large balcony for watching magnificent sunsets. Friendly people, several dining options (breakfast buffet especially good) and only 10 minutes from the airport! Weโll be back! Barbara D.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic stay at La Samanna
We stayed at La Samanna for two days and it was not enough--I hope we will be able to return for longer in future. The service was wonderful, our beachfront one bedroom suite was perfect, and it was magical to be able to sit on our patio looking at the ocean and enjoying what seemed like our own personal beachfront. Aside from the beach, the property itself was extremely attractive with winding paths connecting the different parts of the resort and lovely garden areas with a fountain and beautiful flowers and plantings. Staff in the bars and restaurants, and on the front desk, seemed to be dedicated to making sure everything was perfect for us. It was an anniversary trip for us and our travel agent had mentioned this: we were treated to a welcome bottle of good champagne and a lovely little chocolate cake, in our room on arrival. The private patio of our room was a perfect place to enjoy our glasses of bubbly and access to the beach was literally "at our doorstep" as we could walk directly on to the beach from the patio. It really was a very convenient arrangement, and at night one could hear the waves and enjoy the proximity of the ocean. Great bathroom shower arrangement, with rainshower head as well as handheld, and no doors or curtains; spacious soaker tub, too (and I particularly liked the Acqua di Parma shampoo etc). Nice complementary items included a printed burlap "La Samanna" beach bag (which has had good use already) and farewell gift of a bottle of local liqueur. We could see why so many people like to return to this property!

8 night stay over Presidents Weekโฆ.So chic, intimate, pampering and beautiful.. Top ten reasons to go.. 1. The property is private and beautifully sited with a fabulous , large , clean beach with soft sand. Took many long walks on it. 2. The water is that fabulous turquoise blue .. warm and has some motion to it which I enjoy. Even at ten feet you can see to the bottom. 3. Nico.. he runs the beach and insures that everyone has chairs, water, towels and is content. He is charming and really the highlight of a very professional and fabulous staff. He will literally run down the beach if someone needs something.. It is such a pleasure not not have to get into the chair wars in the morning. The lounges are comfortable and towels soft. The chairs are far enough to insure privacy. 4. Incredible service.. at check in..Warm Welcome from Tiago at the front desk who was terrific in arranging for a room change. Very professional and super attention to detail. Tasty Welcoming Drink! 5. Breakfast Buffet.. Over the top with varied choices..Delicious. The breakfast staff is outstanding! Particularly Candice who has to be one of THE nicest people on the planet (great way to start your day) . 6. Fitness Center.. Absolutely loved the complementary Yoga classes with Suzy .I have taken yoga at resorts all over the world. She is THE best. 7. Meals are fantastic!! Especially the authentic Italian restaurant. Max, was a particular standout..we enjoyed chatting with him and enjoyed his recommendations. The Chef is amazing there.. Came out to great us.. The Lobster Pasta.. Eggplant parmigiana were next level. Do not miss The Rum Baba! I do wish that they had more selections of wine by the glass. The Caribbean buffet was also excellent! 8. The rooms all face the water, some closer than others. They are spotless, with fantastic toiletries . The bed and pillows are super comfortable. The rooms are on the small size.. but they all have terraces. 9. The property is in close proximity to restaurants..we loved the property so much that we only left once for dinner.. to the most popular French restaurant La Cigale, where we had a lovely meal. 10. All in all a very relaxing, restful, serene experience. Cannot wait to return. 10.
