La Poule au Pot Paris Reviews from The Last Year
Totally overrated, overpriced and arrogant. Don't recommend!
This is restaurant to cheat tourist. The food is mediocre. The price tag doesn't justify the quality of the food. The staff was a bit arrogant.
Scandal
We liked the idea of trying this brasserie endorsed by a prestigious chef. What a mistake: friendly setting but excessively noisy, some members of the staff barely trained, and above all much too expensive, the wine list is a real scam: crazy coefficients, nothing for less than 60 euros, except a bottle for 34 euros , but of course out of stock. Half of a theoretical brasserie menu absent, notably no sweetbreads (I should point out that we were at the first service at 7:30 p.m.), cuisine of varying quality (steak with pepper very good, goujonnettes of sole with 90% breadcrumbs), in short , to flee.
Don't waste your money
Nice first impression. Exorbitant price. The head waiter is on another planet, disturbing. The servers do their best. In terms of cooking, the duck confit is dry, the potatoes rather burnt, the tartare "purée". In short, not brasserie cuisine. For the price, definitely to be avoided.
What an experience!🎶🥁👩 🎤🎸🧅🐌🐓
Reserved for two weeks prior. Anticipated with great hope. Arrived at 7 and greeted by the manager who was very ‘enthusiastic’. Seated promptly. Water provided, with food menus, but no wine menu. Sat a good 15-20 min before a wine menu was provided, after we had to ask. No English menus available. Awful 80’s pop music rang loud and obnoxiously thumpy the entire time we dined. We ordered the onion soup, a signature dish. Nothing special, as were the escargot. Thump 🎶thump 🎶thump🎶. Ordered the signature chicken dish (poule au pot) and it was bland, with undercooked rice, mushy vegetables and a rather bland cream sauce. Very disappointing food, noisy atmosphere full of Madonna, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, George Michael, The Clash, etc. You can do better!
Expensive and disappointed
Small typical restaurant. Nice setting. Fast service. Good starter but the main dishes seemed to be reheated and my rice was not cooked. The duck was dry. Paying more than 250 euros for this mediocre quality I say no. Very expensive wines. In short, negative value for money.
Terrible experience
This restaurant was a terrible experience. Over priced. Understaffed, very mediocre food, expensive wine list and they didn’t even knew how to do a proper vodka martini. I strongly recommend to avoid this scam.
Luxury dining at its best in the first Parisian arrondissement
Reservations for 2 on hand - this is a must in this very popular French restaurant! We were seated right away, near the bar (not all too bad); The very polite and unobtrusive wait staff was very helpful in finding the right wine and the menu explanation. I ordered the gratin of langoustines (river lobsters) and a tasting of various appetizers - very good indeed - and also the gratin was served piping hot and very delicious.
Very dear disappointment...
I waited so long to go there and what a disappointment! It's good, nothing more, classic brasserie cuisine. Wines by the glass without shine. An astronomical addition, we pay the name of the Chef, but the quality is not up to par. I leave this trap to the tourists.
Very disappointed
What disappointments!!!!!!! really for tourists. the very average service the canteen style dishes. really these so-called great chefs should be a little more respectful of the customers. all this one day it should be ordered. we are in a virtual world where money is money and you and these chefs are oversized equals. With scary prices
Great
Great Parisian restaurant, over 100 years old. The food is good, service is fast. We had a great time. Highly recommend.
Chicken in a Pot!
First off , there are 2 locations in Paris. We went to the one near Les Invalides on Rue L'Universite. My wife and I both got the signature Poulee au Pot (Chicken in a pot) which has chicken with potatoes and carrots that are simmering in a nice broth. Our experience was highlighted by meeting a Ukranian family! Atmosphere was quaint and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend it!

We came here for our last dinner in Paris - though we were a bit full (and the server seemed disappointed we ordered so little), we enjoyed the dishes we ordered! I grew to love the pink tablecloths and was surprised to hear throwback American pop music (like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun). The escargot was definitely more plump than the ones we've had and the buttery, herby sauce was perfect. They served smaller, softer pieces of bread for you to dip in - which I did liberally! But the bread basket they served was also delicious and perfect in texture. The side salad was unexpectedly a large portion but still refreshing and lightly dressed. The Steak Au Poivre surprised us because it was lightly flambéed table side - this may have made the steak a bit tougher than we would have liked, but it added a beautiful crust with the additional peppercorns on top. The sauce was savory and delicious!! I wish I can have another spoonful of the sauce. Note: Must reserve online - no walk-in's.
Simply everything you could from a Parisian bistro.
The food and ambiance are sublime. The service is professional but slightly guff, but that is also part of the ambiance. Great experience.

My partner and I arrived at Poule au Pot no more than a minute or two late for a 9:00 p.m. reservation that had been made through the restaurant's online reservation system almost a month in advance. Upon arriving and greeting the host and mentioning our reservation in French, "Thomas", responded to us in English that he did not have a reservation for us. When I showed him the confirmation email, he pointed at the date on the email that notes when the reservation was made and insisted that was the date of our reservation and that we had made a mistake. While my French is bad, it isn't that bad, and I pointed to the proper date for our reservation noted on the email. Once I did that, he insisted that I had not clicked the "Confirmer Ma Reservation" link in the email and that our reservation had been canceled. He tried to prove the point by having me click on the link while in the restaurant. When I did so, the reservation website brought up an "Authorisation refusee" message that the host used as justification for saying that we didn't have a reservation. The problem? Since it was now a few minutes (no more than five) after our reservation time, this is the message that the website displays whether or not a reservation has been confirmed. I know that I had confirmed the reservation promptly a few days earlier, but since the reservation system doesn't generate confirmation emails, there was no way of proving it. When I asked if we could be accommodated anyway, noting a few empty tables in the restaurant, we were told that they were booked for the night. I then asked if it would be possible to make a reservation in the next few days. "Thomas" was completely unhelpful, refusing to look up availability and only gave us the restaurant's card and told us that they might have availability "tomorrow or Monday" and to call and ask for him. We then left annoyed by the situation but me mostly mad at myself that I had somehow made a mistake in booking and confirming the reservation. About 15 minutes later we arrived back at our hotel room, at which point the anger at myself shifted to the restaurant and the host, "Thomas". In looking online to see if another reservation was available during the remainder of our stay in Paris, I discovered that there was a 9:30 p.m. reservation available that evening, so the host's insistence that the restaurant was booked for the night was a lie. Furthermore, I discovered that the restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays - the two days that the host told us that the restaurant may have availability. Since the two of us arrived on time for the reservation, were dressed in a manner and style similar to the other diners, greeted the host in French, and were polite during the entire interaction, it is difficult to come to the conclusion that we were turned away and treated as we were for any other reason than we were a gay couple. I would recommend that any LGBT person who wishes to dine at this restaurant to do so only with the expectation of the possibility of being refused service, and a backup reservation at another establishment in place.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
