Family celebration post covid
Panatierre has always been one of our favorite restaurants in the area. After almost 2 years of isolation, we decided to gather our full family together for a celebration dinner. More than ever, the food and service were superb. In particular the filet of sole was excellent and the Grand Marnier soufflés at the end were as good as ever. It was clear that the service was just a little slower then usual, presumably because of the difficulty of hiring staff during Covid. But the ambience and the friendliness of the maître d’ and the other staff made for a very special evening. We look forward to our next outing there.

From the food to the décor and ambiance, everything was superb. The service was impeccable. The menu offered options for every kind of diet.
We had the asparagus soup and salad to start The amuse bouche was a nice perk. The breads were excellent. For entrees we chose the lamb and the prime beef. We capped off the meal with a chocolate soufflé and the black forest cake with a raspberry mousse. Not a fan of black forest cakes but this was the best I ever had. The small cookies and pastries were a nice addition.
So if your mouth is watering, pick up the phone and make a reservation.
We were concerned about eating indoors during the pandemic - well we were totally comfortable. In fact, the restaurant has installed a new air filtration system.
The staff is always masked, the tables are distanced and all protocol is followed.
Ate there 2 weeks ago and we are all fine.
We will not hesitate to return and thank you Cheryl for you hospitality.
A perfect Valentine Day dinner at affordable price
La Panetière is a reputed restaurant in a site and house that makes any meal a celebration . Our Valentine dinner was perfect and the food and senior service was enjoyable .
Be the first to ReplyVery upscale and very good
Went to Christmas dinner with members of my family. A little concerned because they had a fixed menu/little else. Seated promptly and bread and water were brought. It turned out htere were a few ways the fixed menu could be tweaked. So - everything turned out just fine. In order - had the butternut squash soup - warm romaine salad - roast veal/mushrooms with potato and cabbage/carrot combo - beef with similar sides. Lastly - each of us got a plate of Christmas sweets. Along with all of the above - I had glasses of Cabernet. One member of our party had basically the same food items that I did - and the other had lobster/salmon instead of meats. As I said - everything turned out fine. It seemed that the way it was presented on the menu could scare people off - but the food itself and its presentation was far different. This restaurant is perhaps best appreciated as a once-a-year visit for a special event. All in all - I am now glad I put aside my misgivings and went there with my family.

In an age of tacos, Thai food and an overabundance of Italian restaurants (all of which can be good), finding a French restaurant with exceptional food preparation and outstanding service is difficult. Fortunately for those of us who care about memorable, off-the-charts food preparation, there is La Panetier which is in an exalted class of its own. It would be very difficult to find a dining establishment that even comes close to this gustatory heaven. The venue is an attractive old world space that is comfortable and special without being intimidating. Service is impeccable. And the food? Preparation is meticulous. I started with an appetizer of smoked salmon, but the choice of first courses did not make for an easy decision because the restaurant offers variety and a number of choices not often found on others' menus. For an entree, the choice was equally difficult because of the many fish dishes: can anyone really choose among Diver scallops, Dover sole, or my choice of skate wings. Skate wings are such an under-appreciated dish and, as a result, found only on a few menus. Prepared to perfection with a timbal of vegetables, the skate was prepared with love and respect. Dessert: I wish I could sample them all, but since this was a special occasion lunch, my default was a Grand Marnier souffle that was unbeatable. I realize that this review is filled with superlatives, but dining at La Panetiere is a one of a kind superlative experience.
Be the first to ReplyVery good, but disappointing
I know that sounds contradictory, but I have had dinners at La Panetiere for 35+ years, but things do change over time. At our last visit, the decor and service was still great, but the menu was greatly reduced and simplified. The food was good, but not the traditional, classic French that we were used to. Things may be changing in Westchester and businesses may have to change, too. We are sorry.
Be the first to ReplySuperb, as always
La Panetiere never disappoints. Had a superb lunch. Creative prix fixe menu. Service is just perfect. An excellent experience, as always.

It was my friend Arthur’s party and he usually has it here at LA PANETIER.
This time we were in the larger private room as we were 20 people. I started with a delicious salad, for my Entrée I had the duck, which was perfectly prepared and quite an ample portion.
For dessert we all shared the birthday cake which I understand was made in house, an excellent choice. A very good Pinot noir was served during dinner, I enjoyed it so much that I took a picture of the bottle and was surprised to find it was a very inexpensive wine. (under $10 ) I bought a few bottles the next day.
Very attentive service,

Depends on What You Order
It was my birthday and I went to La Panetiere. I purchased a Groupon which would have given us a 3 or a 4 course meal for around $89. The redemption instructions said we were to mention that we had a groupon upon arrival. When I arrived at the restaurant I had a receipt clearly showing that I paid for the Groupon, my receipt had a corresponding transaction ID and an order number, the money clearly left my account but I was not sent a voucher. The lady at the front desk started to get really loud with me about not having a voucher or the groupon app, she was so loud that people in the dining hall overheard and started laughing at us, the insinuation was that we didn't pay for a groupon and we were just trying to get a discount on our meal, it was rather insulting and embarassing. The manager tried to be nice but the restaurant was busy so he was occupied so we were left at the mercy of this dreadful woman
We offered to pay for the meal upfront without the groupon because truly we didn't need a groupon to be able to afford to eat at the restaurant. Even when we offered to pay for the meal, she followed us into the dining area and in front of everyone loudly told me that maybe my card didn't go through, suggesting that it had declined. I told her if that was the case we wouldn't have a receipt or a transaction ID. I told her that we had a transaction ID and an order number..... at that point I felt insulted. Message to the restaurant, if you can't afford to offer groupon discounts to all customers don't offer them or harass/shame customers by trying to get loud when they turn up with a groupon.
We were determined to not let her win and ruin my birthday or chase me out of the restaurant so although I was upset and shamed by this woman within an inch of my life, I bravely sat down to eat and fought back the tears. It was obvious that she didn't want to see people like us eating there
The ribeye steak was bland, dry and tough, I question whether it was really a ribeye steak because ribeye cuts of beef tend to be fatty, this cut was lean and dry and void of all fat, but the lobster and dover sole were beautifully and expertly cooked and quite delicious. The grand Marnier souffle was good and the baby grilled romaine lettuce was also very good and quite delicious. The portion sizes are on the small side so you may have to order multiple dishes
Very French
Authentic French, which means very slow, very expensive, and absolutely utterly enjoyable and delicious! Perhaps just a touch of fusion - a halibut mousse belong more with New England cuisine than French. Most importantly, a touch of class in everything - the setting, the atmosphere, the crowd, the food presentation. You feel that you are among royalty and being treated like royalty. Just need a royal size wallet...
