La Fontaine Mountain View Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing place.
Five starts on all fronts. Good beer, good appetizers, great food. Came here for a company dinner. I had the halibut special.
Myriad of social events and corporate French dinner here.
Pastas and wine selections are consistently delicious and refreshing. Christmas and Thanksgiving festivities are held here several times that we relish the most. Prompt service and clean facility. Our recent visit feels like interior and exterior time to modify or a thoughtful makeover to give this location a spiffy French look.
Absolutely delicious meal.
Four of us went there for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and one in our party ordered pasta another a sandwich. I ordered the soul fish and my husband ordered a chicken dish. The food was extraordinary. Prices were reasonable. And the chocolate lava cake dessert wasdelicious. I look forward to coming back again to try the ravioli and another chicken dish. If you are in Mountain View you must try La Fontaine
Chose this place for our Valentine's Day lunch.
The restaurant is located in the downtown so parking is scarce and have to walk 10-15 min depending on where you parked. The restaurant looks small from outside but it has lot of seating space and since we went on a weekday only 3-4 tables were occupied. Started our lunch with Cream of Mushroom soup which was really good esp in this cold and rainy weather. They provided a basket of bread with a herb oil for side. Ordered L-Fromage De Chevre Aux Pistaches for starter, Grilled salmon for entree, La Fontaine pizza, Panna cotta & Lava cake for dessert. The started was really good. It had the pistachio crunchiness and the slight sweetness from the caramelised onion and honey. I was not much impressed with the grilled salmon. The quantity seemed less for the price and it came with veggies and mashed potato. The pizza had the thinnest crust I ever had with the right amt of tomato sauce and little topping. They were cut into 9 pieces and we took most of them home. The highlight was the dessert. The lava cake was yummy and came with sea sat caramel ice cream which just complimented the cake and carried it to the next level. The panna cotta comes with a berry sauce which we asked them to skip for us. The texture was so good and the right flavor. Overall a good date place, friendly staff, adequate seating, just above average pricing and quiet ambience.
This was our first time dining at La Fontaine but it won't
This was our first time dining at La Fontaine but it won't be our last. The atmosphere and service was top notch and the food was delicious. We started with a crab cake appetizer and the pistachio crusted goat cheese. Our entrees included Beef Wellington, Seafood Bouillabaise, and Cream of Mushroom soup. All were excellent.
I came here for valentines day, I was a bit disappointed,
I came here for valentines day, I was a bit disappointed, we got charged $230 for a mediocre dinner. The service was okay but the price for this dinner was definitely not worth it. We arrived on time and were told that there was a set price for the menu since it was valentines day. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. We never received our appetizers. When it was time for dessert we mentioned this to the waiter who questioned us and looked confused about us not receiving the food. Nonetheless he offered to give us a discount which was great. For dessert we got 2 mini scoops of ice cream and took a tiramisu to go. The waiter gave us a $50 discount but then charged us an extra $50 for gratuity. We were already planning on leaving tip but there was ultimately no point in the discount since he charged us so much just for tip!! Keep in mind this was just a party of 2 and they had not given us everything that was included. It was a bit ridiculous to charge so much! The food was just okay, nothing special. With what we got charged I could've definitely gone to a more upscale restaurant and paid the same amount.
Our Frist time tried this place , I was concerned after mad
Our Frist time tried this place , I was concerned after mad reservation and I was right. Food not that great and not sure how they got 4 star. Grilled Octopus over cooked, Truffle Mushroom soup was water down , Seafood dish just very salted , Very disappointed , Service not that great either They don't bother to knowledge us about the food or menu . They charge like fine dining but you don't get the experience like what you pay for. Won't recommend for couple , The Place so loud, no inviting, Just over price , over rate
$35 for this? Cmon folks looks like a tv dinner or economy
$35 for this? Cmon folks looks like a tv dinner or economy airline meal. Hugely disappointed
Great food.
I stopped here for dinner. The staff was exceedingly nice. The bruschetta was great. I ordered the steak frites which was awesome. I’d eat here all the time if I lived here.
We had dinner recently at La Fontaine.
Reservations were easy to make (OpenTable, several days in advance) and were in the relative timeframe I wanted. We got there early and were seated promptly, which was a good thing because unfortunately we were placed next to what turned out to be a party of about 14, so being seated early meant we were out of there by the time they all arrived. Party of 14 notwithstanding, it was pretty noisy in the restaurant. Service was good, although I did have the forethought to ask for to-go boxes, dessert and the check at the same time since that was about when our neighbors started ordering in earnest. We had calamari, beet salad, orecchiette, cavatelli meatballs and, for dessert, lava cake with a scoop of sea salted caramel gelato. (Allegedly. To me it tasted faintly of caramel but I did not find a hint of salt whatsoever.) The calamari and my beet salad were delicious and the best parts of the meal. My husband enjoyed his pasta and meatballs. The orecchiette was EXTREMELY bacon-forward, even for a bacon-lover like me. It could have used less (much less) bacon and more peas. And oddly enough, even with all the bacon, it was pretty dry. Though the list price for the dessert is $10, I'm pretty sure I was charged $12, even though the menu online says there's a $1.50 split fee. I guess it's another way to make money, but what really was split? The miniscule dessert was served on one plate, so basically I was charged $2 for an extra spoon. Ridiculous.
It's been a while since I came to La Fontaine and I felt
It's been a while since I came to La Fontaine and I felt the need to update my review. Came here for a corporate dinner and thought the experience was fantastic end-to-end. I initially reached out via email for a quote and got a response back within half an hour. I emailed back and forth directly with Chef Hasan a couple of times and ended up locking in our preferred date and time for our group. He provided me with his personal number to text if there were any changes needed before the event or if any other questions came up. At the time of our event, we arrived and our table was already set up with the chosen pre-fix menu already allocated. Shortly after being seated, our round of appetizers came out. The bruschetta in particular was delicious - covered in tomatoes and drizzled in quality olive oil, paired with the perfect crunchy crostini. We all got to choose a preferred main from their shortlisted menu. I decided to get the mushroom truffle ravioli which comes in a pesto sauce. Absolutely amazing. Pure comfort food delight, you can really taste the flavor of the truffle and savory mushroom coming through. Their house focaccia was also amazing - freshly baked and paired so well with the olive tapenade that was served with it. Of course, we had to pair our meal with a nice bottle of Chianti. For dessert, everyone got a slice of tiramisu which was slightly sweet, fluffy, and very delicious. Great experience!
A bit pricy, but the food is good.
Typically isn't too busy during dinner time & there is indoor + outdoor seating. I really like the seafood pasta and the dipping sauce that comes with the complimentary bread is very good!

We stopped by here for drinks this past weekend cuz I was craving a chocolate martini, and this hit the spot, perfect boozy, sweet and chocolatey goodness. In addition, we got an extra dry gin martini w/ pickled onion, and it was made well and satisfying. Service was attentive and accommodating, and we were delighted to find The Fables of La Fontaine book on display at the bar for our amusement. We took a glance inside, skimming these beloved tales, including one of my faves, The Hare and the Tortoise. We also ordered the arancini to go, and they were yummy. Nice and crisp on the outside, and filled with gooey melted fontina cheese, a good late-night snack... but not as good as those cocktails!
The steak tasted ok
I had dinner with an American partner company. It was about a 10-minute drive from Santa Clara. Apparently it's already a popular restaurant among Japanese residents in the area. It's a French restaurant, but they also serve pizza and pasta, so the menu could be considered an Italian restaurant. I had a steak, which was pretty tasty, including the French fries. It can't be helped, but it couldn't compete with a steakhouse. I think this restaurant is a good option for anyone looking for a place for a business meal in the area.
Great service
We went here for a business dinner. Service was really good. The food was good but nothing extra special. The interior of the place is not the most modern one
