La Familia Kitchen Boston Reviews from The Last Year
My daughter made a month in advance for her birthday.
The conversation was on speaker phone so I heard the conversation. She made the reservation for 7:00pm. The party of 6 arrived at 6:30. They were told the reservation was for 6:00 and therefore they could not be seated. No attempt was made to rectify the situation and overall, the party was treated rudely. They were told they could go on a waitlist of two hours to be seated. Obviously, they left and found another place in the North End to eat.

Was recommended by a friend that this was one of the best in the North End, but I think this may be one of the worst restaurants I've tried in Boston. The best word to describe the food is mediocre. We ordered the sangria, calamari, frutti di mare with fra diavolo sauce, and veal parmigiana. We ate only a few bites of the food and packed the rest to go. The best thing was the sangria. The portions here are big, but it's lacking in flavor. If you want to try this place, def make a reservation as it gets packed. They will only seat you also once your entire party arrives. The service was good.
Best place for Italian food.
Have to visit here every trip to Boston. My absolute favorite place to go!

Amazing food! Huge portions! Great atmosphere! Maria was super friendly! The bread and olive oil with Parmesan was very authentic Italian!
App half moon mozzarella, outstanding.
Dinner Great lasagne and stuffed shell, both were outstanding. Service was great. Quaint restraunt Recommend

Very good! My favorite is the bread and olive oil/parmesan at the beginning of the meal. I just wish the portions were a little smaller. It's hard to enjoy an appetizer or dessert without wasting part of the entree.

Nestled off Salem Street in Boston's historic North End, La Famiglia Giorgio's (LFG) is more than just a dining spot--it's a cherished tradition for many, including my own family. This charming Italian eatery has been our go-to for years, consistently delivering a delightful experience that keeps us coming back. During our recent visit, I was once again reminded of why LFG holds such a special place in our hearts. Accompanied by my wife and daughter, who both follow a gluten-free diet, I was pleased to find an array of gluten-free options on the menu, including pasta. This accommodation is not only appreciated but also seamlessly executed. Our server's expertise and attentiveness ensured that our dietary needs were met without compromising on taste or variety. As always, the service was impeccable--prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. This level of consistency in service is one of LFG's hallmarks, contributing to the overall warmth and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. When it comes to the food, LFG never disappoints. The portions are as generous as they are delicious, making each meal a satisfying experience. I opted for the lasagna, which was a hearty, flavorful masterpiece. My wife and daughter chose the Chicken and Broccoli, topped with a luscious dollop of ricotta cheese. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, highlighting the fresh ingredients and traditional Italian flavors that LFG is known for. It's worth noting that La Famiglia Giorgio's is always bustling with patrons, a testament to its popularity and excellence. To avoid long waits, I highly recommend making a reservation. The lively atmosphere adds to the charm, making each visit feel like a special occasion. In conclusion, La Famiglia Giorgio's is a must-visit destination when exploring the North End of Boston. Whether you're a longtime patron or a first-time visitor, you can expect a memorable dining experience filled with delicious food, outstanding service, and a welcoming ambiance. Every trip to LFG is a reminder that some traditions are worth keeping, and this one certainly is. You won't regret making the trip to this beloved North End establishment!

Traveled to Boston with the family and wanted Italian for dinner. Saw that this place had good reviews while doing the Freedom Trail stopped in. We ended up ordering the fried calamari, sautéed broccoli, and carbonara rigatoni. The fried calamari was alright, it wasn't as crispy as I would have preferred but the calamari itself wasn't rubbery at all. The sautéed broccoli was more oily than I was expecting and there was something sour about the aftertaste that didn't really rub me the right way at all. The carbonara rigatoni was al dente just like how I prefer with a good taste (highlight of the dinner honestly). Lastly, they did provide bread with the oil/seasoned dipping sauce and it was definitely not the type of bread I like at Italian restaurants. I like chewier bread but this one was almost dry and overtly chewy to the point where I was like a dog chewing a bone. The service was great however and that I believe stood out as well. Overall, I would recommend giving them a shot, hopefully it was just a down day etc.
Y'all! Gluten free pasta that didn't make me sad.
I don't know how they do it, but it was perfection. And for the gluten full peeps - delicious everything. I will be back!

My family lives near Boston and often comes to this restaurant. Always a fun, jovial, delicious experience. And when I visit it's my first stop from the airport on an evening flight. Never can go wrong here.
I had heard about this place for years.
I had never been there. I tend to prefer Federal Hill or many other Italian restaurants in Rhode Island. But this is right up my alley. They even were spot on with the calamari, a rare feat. Really good and huge portions. My family was crazy about the pumpkin ravioli.

Great service and pasta, however almost everyone in our party ended up feeling really sick after and even the next day. Watch out
This is a wonderful family-run restaurant!
My husband and I try to come here when we are in Boston. It is a wonderful family-run restaurant, and the food rivals that of The Hill in St. Louis. The portions are very generous and the service is wonderful. We had limoncello Bellinis and the family antipasto salad. (We went early and were not really hungry and this filled us up, and we had leftovers to take home.) I love a dry red wine and the recommendation was perfect!! Once we were home, we realized we’d forgotten our credit card. I called and they had it for us. They even tried to chase us down! We’ve had this happen before and we’ve had to cancel the card. The service, the quality of food, and the honesty of the people there will definitely bring us back!
If I could give ZERO stars I would.
What a shame, and a complete waste of a night out of our spectacular vacation to Boston. We are so disappointed in our experience at La Famiglia Giorgio's Restaurant in the North End. The waitress Roseanne was RUDE !! Unbelievably RUDE to us for absolutely no reason. Her whole attitude from the time we sat down was indifferent- annoyed- couldn't be bothered. We are still dumbfounded as to why. We are a party of 3 - we were nice and friendly to her - we were excited to be there - as per the concierge at our hotel who recommended this place and made our reservation. The hostess who sat us was nice and that's where it ends. Roseanne came up to the table, did not introduce herself, abruptly- awkwardly asked us, " Do you know what you're having? " we then explained that we had never been there before and that the restaurant came highly recommended to us from the hotel and ..... as we even started to try to converse with her and ask what are the popular dishes she brushed us off and said, " OK- you need more time to look at the menu -I'll come back." ZERO interest in making recommendations, disappeared FOREVER- finally came back to other tables and blew us off. We got her attention and ordered 3 entrees and a salad to share. My husband ordered a cocktail and a glass of wine. Roseanne rudely knee jerk response, " WAIT-- you want 2 drinks now and she wants none ( meaning me). I cut in and said , he wants a cocktail now ( Which she was too impatient to ask us when we sat down) and he wants the wine with his entrée. I ordered a glass of wine as well. The food was delivered promptly. She never checked on us and it was not that busy. My daughter had the pasta with meatballs, it was their homemade fusilli- it was WAY over boiled and mushy. I had the lasagna , it was good but we were so put off by the experience that is was just ok. My husband had the manicotti, also decent but nothing special. Again, the waitress was literally so rude we could not wait to leave. A beautiful evening wasted in this mediocre, rude, lack luster place. We made sure to tell our hotel NOT to recommend this restaurant to others. We hope we have spared you the experience . The next night we tried Lucca and it was much better ! There are so many great places in the north end , but La Famiglia Giorgio is definitely not one of them.
Don't waste your time!! Much better places in the North End

Food was absolutely incredible! I ordered the Primavera Alfredo with the homemade Fettuccini and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten in my life. This will absolutely be a place I come back to every time I come to Boston!
Was over top too sweet for almost every dish.
First of all, no parking. The cost for a short term parking was $45. Always a game night, no valet. Was over top too sweet for almost every dish. I think I didn’t even need a dessert afterwards. We had the scallops app, salad, and a ravioli special.
I spend a lot of time in Boston for work and frequent
I spend a lot of time in Boston for work and frequent various eateries in North End. This week I ventured out to try a new place I've had my eye on. The food and wine was delicious. The customer service is amiable. So much so we ate here two nights in a row. The first night we were a party of two. Each of us ordered a glass of wine. We shared the charcuterie board (which is large and delicious!) and a pizza. The portions are huge. The second night we stopped back to have the charcuterie board for a second time since it was so good. Just after opening at four we each ordered a glass of wine and shared the charcuterie board. Most of the table were empty since it was pre dinner time. This illustrates we were not taking up valuable table space. We were having dinner at home so we did not want to order anything else, just wine and a large appetizer. The waitress tactfully kept suggesting other dishes. She was so kind. Now I know why. There is a sharing charge for an appetizer of $7.50. Appetizers are generally shared. I understand we didn't order an entree or more than one food item... but two glasses of wine and a large charcuterie board makes sense to share. Especially early in the evening. The portions on the board are so generous we had leftovers from the board. While this is a great place to have dinner and the portions are large for the price, I wouldn't plan on sharing anything or stopping in for a pre dinner wine and appetizer.
This place is not what it once was.
Yes, the portions are decent, but the food just isn't what it once was. The 23.00 antipasto has one kind of cubed cheese, tasteless small pieces of fried eggplant, three pieces of artichoke cherry tomatoes,, soggy red peppers, prosciutt, lettuce and some very odd dressing on it. Thank God they didn't add much dressing. The chicken parm is just a big breaded piece of chicken on top of pasta. Barely enough sauce to cover the piece of chicken with none over the pasta. I understand most red sauces start with carrots, but what little sauce this dish had was orange. It didnt taste fresh, just blah over tasteless chicken. The second dish was carbonara. All I can say is it was nothing like a carbonar. just a cheese sauce with pasta. It was just bad in every way. This used to be our favorite north end restaurant, but sadly, we won't be returning for this less than mediocre meAl. The antipasto and two pasta dishes cost 100.00 bucks with tip, and we had water only to drink. one last comment. Mother Anna's was the worst place that I had eaten at in the north end (now closed), La Famiglia managed to beat it as the worst food. Sadly, never again.
The best Italian cuisine I have ever had.
The meatballs and marinara are amazing. Homemade pasta is perfect. Gluten free options for those with dietary restrictions. The service was phenomenal; best I have had in Boston. Our server listened, gave good recommendations, and provided the most amazing experience. The staff was so kind and attentive. Love the family atmosphere. Quiet and quaint environment, romantic atmosphere to dress up or quiet and casual is also acceptable.
Upon reading reviews we decided to try this restaurant in
Upon reading reviews we decided to try this restaurant in the north end. It was crowded and we had a 40 min wait. Once inside we were crammed into a table against the wall. This place is packed. I'm thinking it must be amazing! Our waitress was very friendly. I ordered the chicken saltimboca. It's supposed to be chicken with a layer of prosciutto & mushrooms in a white wine sauce. One small piece of chicken had some prosciutto on it. The rest was just dry chicken and pasta. I put some olive oil on it hoping to enhance it. It was so bland and dry. What a disappointment. Not sure what the hype is about this place.
Disappointing.
All of our food was cold. Sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Chicken Saltimboca, which is usually in a rich sauce, was sitting in oil and butter. A chicken pasta dish advertised as having tomatoes, had a slice of a beefsteak tomato on top. And sauce seemed like water. We barely touched our food. 5 people, all disappointed
The food was good but the service was subpar.
No connection with the servers, was not attentive with drink refills and other needs. The atmosphere felt like we were bombarding them. Other than the service, the food was good. They do serve bread with oil when you sit down but unfortunately the bread was cold. Wouldn't be my first choice to go back to.
Lovely staff, nice atmosphere, large variety to pick from
Ate here recently, had a really lovely waitress who was very friendly and attentive. Got the mushrooms as a starter which were grand. For the main, we both had pasta dishes which were massive. Almost too big but I know the restaurant is ‘family style’. You defo get to. Value for money as you could easily doggy back more than half the main and eat it for dinner the next day. The menu was very extensive and there was a lot of options of chose from. We had the Alfredo and tomato pasta. The tomato pasta was lovely! The bread at the start was lovely with the oil and Parmesan dip!
Get ready for a loaded plate!
My gosh, the food was wonderful and plentiful. Service was perfect, and overall, it was a great dinner! I had the frutta di mare, loaded with mussels, clams, and calamari along with rigatoni. It was a fun dish to eat, I had not had mussels in some time. My wife had the gnocchi, which were little pillows of deliciousness. But first, they give you great bread with olive oil, parmesan cheese, and pepperoncini, which was so tasty. Prices for the food was reasonable, and we hope to go back this weekend before we leave Boston.
Very good Italian food.
Excellent food, very delicious pizzas, homemade tiramisu… Very attentive and professional waiters: Joseph and Alexander. Totally recommended.
Great food and service!
We loved the food! The bread, arancini, lobster ravioli and pizza were very good! But beware it’s a lot of food and we definitely over ordered. Our server Maria was fantastic!
Genuine Italian food, great gluten free options, huge portions.
We had a great lunch here while near the Paul Revere house. Fabulous food but beware the huge helpings! One of the party is gluten intolerant, she was so happy to be offered GF garlic pizza base and GF pasta (generally very poor provision for GF diets in Boston). Good service and very reasonable check.
Smelt like sick
Awful experience chicken was raw. Chips were cold. 5 clams were ok, the rest was awful. Chicken parmigiana was awful: Manager was rude, ostensibly obnoxious person we have ever met! Restaurant smelt like sick!
Great Classic Italian Meals
The waits are long but worth it. Efficient service helps! The food was all excellent - yet not one of our group could finish since the portions are so large. Happy to have delicious leftovers. Appreciated the ability to pair their homemade pastas with any number of sauces.
So worth the wait
Walking through little Italy on Hanover Street, it is bombarded so badly you almost have to walk in the street. The lines are crazy at dinner time on a Saturday. So we made our way over to Salem Street where it’s less crowded. We stumbled on this gem. The wait time was about 90 minutes but turned into about 55 minutes which of course we were happy about. Either way, the food was unbelievably worth the wait. The service was very very good. I will without a doubt go back next time in Boston
Delicious Doesn't Even Begin to Describe It!!!!
After seven years we returned to Boston and this was the first restaurant we had to find. The food was as delicious as it was back then. I can't say when I've have better Italian food. A must for any lover of this fine fare!
So good
We came here on a visit to Boston 2 years ago and still remember the wonderful meal we had. We recently had an overnight layover in Boston and knew we'd come here for dinner. It did not disappoint. The food was so good. We ordered gnocchi with a red sauce with ground sausage, red onions, and spicy peppers and it was delicious. The gnocchi was perfect. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Everyone working here is friendly and attentive. We'll be back next time we're in town.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
