Excellent Food
My husband and I stopped here for lunch. I ordered the bolognese and my husband ordered chicken parmigiana. The portion size was huge and they were both delicious. The restaurant is a little off the usual tourist area but so worth the visit.
Be the first to ReplyToo expensive for the experience I had!
Vey disappointed salmon salad with lilikoi dressing was so tart with vinegar I couldnโt eat it and the stuffed artichoke was oozing with butter and the cheese on top was too tough to eatโฆ also they cooked it whole and what a surprise I had when I found the choke!

Super cute atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff and the food was very good. We would definitely eat here again!
Be the first to ReplyA Darling Little Bistro with Lots of Flavor!
We drove to the upcountry and had a delicious dinner at Kulaโs Bistro. A cute little cafe with great food and friendly people (hubby had the burger and I had the bolognese...both excellent). We also shared a mini coconut pie and it was probably the best we've ever had. I believe we were the only tourists there as everyone seemed to know each other โ so we got a "taste" of local living, which was really special.
Be the first to ReplyHidden gem in Kula with wonderful service and delicious food!
This is a hidden gem in Kula. The food was delicious! Great size portions and the fries were so tasty. Save room for dessert or take one to go. The staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Haleakala or the other attractions in Kula!
Be the first to ReplyBEST FOOD ON MAUI
We come to Maui every year and always go to kula bistro. This is our 2nd time this year and love everything. My husband and I shared a Mahi Mahi special lunch Molokai potatoes, spinach and mushrooms. Carrot cake for dessert. Our server, Matthew Goetter was SUPER FANTASTIC! Would ask for him next time for sure.

We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I had filet mignon and my husband had Mahi. They were both delicious! There was a vast amount of homemade desserts to choose from. I chose lemon blueberry cheesecake and he got keylime pie bar. YUM!! Our server was friendly, helpful and prompt. We received our meal quickly too. The small town was cute too
Be the first to ReplyGreat upcountry restaurant
We were exploring upcountry when we decided it was time for some lunch. Trip Advisor reviews for Kula Bistro looked promising so we headed over. Everything about the bistro was great - the service, the food, and the restaurant itself. We will definitely come back the next time we are upcountry.
Be the first to ReplyGreat restaurant for everyone
A hidden gem of a restaurant. Worth the diversion for dinner. Great service, extensive choice on menu, generous portions and extremely tasty. Gets busy but worth waiting for a table.

Fantastic experience! All our food was amazing. We had mahi mahi, ahi, sushi roll and coconut prawns. Great waitress Shanna!
Be the first to ReplyKula Bistro is A+
Very informal dining but with a nice selection of well prepared dishes and great dessert choices. Well worth the drive to Kula.

Try the sushi if you're there on sushi night. We went on a Wednesday and the waitress suggested the sushi. We tried it and it was delicious! Had a kid's menu also which was nice. Had the Chocolate cake and mango cheesecake for dessert, so good! Prices are steep but the food is very good.

Their hamburgers are huge. They have lots of seafood and pastas on the menu. They are famous for their deserts. Unfortunately, we were too full for desert but lots of people were getting them to go. Very friendly service. The food was excellent.

Dinner, service and value were outstanding. Gigantic portions of well prepared and delicious Maui delicacies. Love the local flavor. And did I mention fantastic desserts. Well worth the drive up to Kula.
Be the first to ReplyOMG What a difference 2 years makes ( Gone Downโฆ)
My wife and I have been coming to Maui for 18 of the last 20 years. When weโre here we always have dinner at Kula at least twice while weโre here. Last night was the first time weโd been back to Kula since the new owner/chef has taken over. It was evident from the moment we walked in the door. First thing I noticed, was moderately loud country western music playing over the speaker. None of the senior staff who had been with the old owner for years and were extremely knowledgeable and extremely helpful were no longer there. Moderate amount of menu changes which is to be expected and they had done away with their phenomenal pizzas and they added sushi. During our one hour there. I did not see anybody ordered any sushi but we used to see several pizzas go out the door for takeout in the past. Plus we used to always order a pizza to go after our dinner for lunch the next day. Now, for the worst part, I ordered the Wagyu Meatballs spaghetti Bolognese. It was served with three Wagyu meatballs and they were โextremely driedโ out to the point that the third one could only be cut with a knife and with chard on the outside so I did not bother eating the third one. On another sad note, they were also known for their extensive selection of desserts. Last evening 2/3 of the case was empty and the variety was minimal. Sadly, this will be our last trip over to Coola bistro.
Be the first to ReplyA simple lunch.
We stopped in for a simple lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We shared the Caesar Salad and the Grilled Mahi Mahi Sandwich. The salad was predictable but fresh and crisp, the sandwich was grilled to perfection and was huge! We had no room for dessert so we will definitely be going back on the next trip!
Be the first to ReplyBad breakfast experience.
Been here many times for lunch. Tried breakfast. Will not return. Long wait for coffee. Long wait for food. Waiter's attitude was so poor, I wanted out of there almost from the moment she came to our table. Syrup watered down, flavorless. Overcooked eggs. After years of great lunch experiences, will never go back. Talked with manager. She was apologetic, but said little to assuage my concerns. We live here on Maui. Went to Kula Bistro to try their breakfast. It was a simply awful experience.

Great local Faire, and stunning desert options. Portions are large and tasty. During prime time there is a ~20 minute wait, its that good. Staff is very friendly and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service were disappointing
We have been dining at the Kula Bistro for many years and it used to be Great.... however, the last few visits we have notice a decline in food quality and service. On our most recent visit a few days ago.... the food and service were very disappointing. 4 people dined. 1 dinner (steak) was way over done... not medium rare, One dinner was cold, and One had pasta that the sauce was very runny. Our server was very nice... but not well trained. It will be a while before we go back.

The food here is delicious, and the servers are very friendly. One of our best meals on our trip. The bakery here has a lot of tempting desserts. The garden by the patio is peaceful.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful place for Lunch!
Great food - wonderful part of the island - you really need to see this part of Maui also - explore some things besides the beach

We were recommended to go to Kula Bistro by our waiter down at Wailea Resort. No reservations taken so get there before 6 pm, or you will have to wait a bit for a table. It is worth it. Food is very tasty with veggies being the star of the show... It is BYOB and the store across the road has poor selection of wine, so stop in MAKAWAO at the General Store on your way (they have great selection of wine.) We had crab cakes to start. Very nice. Then we had catch of the day (Mahi) which was okay...but veggies with it were superb. All of the deserts are amazing, so leave room....
Be the first to ReplyThree Visits
We stayed near Kula and read great reviews about Kula Bistro. We were not disappointed. Our first visit was a to-go order of a Rueben and fries. It was delicious! Not soggy which is important for a takeout sandwich. Their desserts are amazing! We tried the lilikoi bar and coconut cake. Our second visit was a few days later for the coconut cream pie and caramel chocolate turtle pie. Third visit was for breakfast on our last morning. We had the smoked salmon benedict and ahi benedict. Both were delicious and the service was friendly and helpful. Itโs worth a visit if you head upcountry.

We had a fabulous time, outdoor dining, upcountry vibes. My guests enjoyed the food and laid back atmosphere Marcia Berkowitz
Be the first to ReplyMy fav upcountry byob spot!
It's not about the location, view or atmosphere. It's about the food and staff that treats you like family! From Aunty Tammy, to Mathew to Liz, we know most of the staff. And we certainly know the menu. My all time fav: Bolognese. Portion size and taste can't be beat. My husband loves the beef tips with mushrooms, as well as whatever daily special they have to offer. Best part: its BYOB! Bring your fav bottle of wine or beer beverage. If you forgot, you can hop across the street to buy something at Morihara General Store. No matter what you order, you'll end up full and taking extra home!
