KOMO Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful space and excellent service.
The bathrooms are in a scary, smelly basement area though- that threw us off. The chicken thigh bao buns were the star of the show- crispy fried chicken, spicy slaw and sour, salty pickles. Very fresh and well-balanced. The Hamachi Negi roll was decent, but nothing special. We also got the Chilean sea bass, lobster croquette, and waygu wraps. Everything was way too sweet? Especially the lobster & waygu items. The sweetness overpowered other more savory flavors. The Chilean sea bass was especially disappointing because it was fried to perfection, topped with chili strands and paired with a delicious broth- but still lacking that salty, savory, umami flavor to complete the dish. Given the price, we were disappointed by the mediocrity of most dishes. Again, staff was wonderful!
My favorite happy hour ever! I think I come here at least
My favorite happy hour ever! I think I come here at least every other Friday. The best cocktails in West Loop, especially during happy hour when you get 50% off. The lychee martini and the yuzu kumo is my favorite. If you like mezcal you will love the hanami!

We visited Komo for Happy Hour and loved it! You know it's going to be good when they greet you with a complimentary shot of Sake when walk in. The decor is beautiful inside and the ambiance is perfect for a cute date night, girls night, or celebration. The lychee cocktail was my favorite, and the Hello Kitty cocktail has a cute presentation. We ordered some food from the Happy Hour menu and everything tased delicious. Server was very friendly and overall amazing experience here - Definitely want to come back and check out the cocktail lounge Esco upstairs!

Stopped in during happy hour for half off select cocktails! Upon entering, we were greeted by the hostesses and some sake - we had a group of 6 under two different reservations but they were able to accommodate all of us together at one table! We came mainly for drinks so I didn't get a chance to try any food but it looks like there were plenty of great seafood/sushi options. We did a handful of Hello Kitty cocktails which were delicious - it tastes almost like a healthy sweet wellness shot. The lychee martini was also good, a little citrusy - they don't garnish with your typical lychee, rather sometimes a dried blood orange or lime. The space was pretty and cozy, however, trekking to the bathroom downstairs was a little dark so be careful! Hoping to stop by next time to try food!

The food is the highlight! For the most part, every dish we ordered was great. The highlights for us were the tenderloin w/brussels, miso glazed cod, lobster croquette w/curry, and the salmon skin hand roll. The matcha ebi bites were a miss for us and the oysters left much to be desired since some weren't fresh and the flavors didn't really do much. The croquette served with the tenderloin was great texturally, but the marshmallow was a miss. It made the dish too sweet because the sauce on the steak and Brussels is already sweet. The front of the house was a little chaotic. We arrived at the time of our reservation and there were 3 groups waiting to be helped. The hostess was disheveled and had a bit of an anxious energy which made us feel uneasy like we were in the way. But there's no where else to stand so it was a little awkward. The complimentary sake was a nice touch though.
Amazing food and service.
The drinks and sushi was so good. I really enjoyed the vibe which was small and perfectly. The ambiance was small and cozy.
I was never a sushi fan.
However, I finally acquired the taste for sushi and now I absolutely love sushi. One interesting thing about sushi is the more expensive sushi is the better it is. The sushi here is fairly expensive and it's the best I ever had. The sushi I had was crunchy and fresh. I'll definitely be back for more.
My lovely wife and I were on a Happy Hour crawl in the fall
My lovely wife and I were on a Happy Hour crawl in the fall and were drawn by the Happy Hour specials at Komo, located on Randolph just east of Halsted. Admittedly we were lured by the Hello Kitty cocktail (more on that later). Komo offers the Happy Hour specials Tuesdays through Fridays from 5-7PM, and we came by just a smidge before 7PM. The restaurant itself was full, but we snagged a table for two in front of the restaurant. It was just warm enough to sit outside, yay. Since we had been eating and drinking a bit, we were not terribly hungry. I ordered an old fashioned, and my love went for the Hello Kitty cocktail. These cocktails were half-price during the HH, so yay again. The Hello Kitty drink was adored by my wife, and came with its own cute little Hello Kitty cutout that you can take home. I needed a nibble, so I went with the fried chicken bao, topped with Asian slaw and pickle. They were good, but perhaps because I was not super hungry the bao did not knock my taste buds over. I did get a peek at the lovely interiors as I needed to visit the facilities, and the crowd seemed to enjoy dining at Komo immensely.
Great weekday dinner.
I went at happy hour and they had great drink and food deals. I had the Tempura Bass and a Negi Hamachi Makimono Roll off the happy hour menu and both were amazing. I also had a lobster caviar dish off the Chef's special menu that blew me away. Sat at their beautiful and comfortable bar. Bartender was engaging and knew the menu well.
Great happy hour from 5-7! Went on a Thursday night around
Great happy hour from 5-7! Went on a Thursday night around 6 and got sat immediately. Staff is fast and efficient, and the food left us satisfied- but not full.
Romantic, intimate, modern and western Japanese.
I highly recommend getting a reservation as they were packed when my wife and I went. Staff are courteous, welcoming, and elaborate on each dish ending from the source of the ingredients, how the chef recommends it be eaten, and how it was prepared. Dishes can be relatively small, but thankfully they allowed one of us to get the tasting course and al la carte for the other person. I was able to order a couple of things that weren't on the tasting menu and my wife and I shared each bite. I highly recommend the live uni (sea urchin), oyster threesome(each prepared with a different ingredient), and the wagyu (you get to cook thin slices of beef at your table on top of a heated stone).

You walk into the restaurant and you find a host stand and a stairway. We walked in for happy hour (until 7pm on the weeknights) and were offered complimentary sake as we entered. With thick menu books, they open the sliding doors to a gorgeous restaurant with light tones and beautiful flowers. It was also nicely decorated for the holidays when I went. For the happy hour you can pick from 5 half off specialty cocktails as well as a variety of menu items. The cocktails were very pretty and strong. I tried the tuna crispy rice which was very small, but very quality. A fancy happy hour, but a great date vibe.

Everything was amazing! I've heard a lot about KOMO but had never been so figured it was time. We went during happy hour because drinks are significantly cheaper. Definitely worth it to go for HH! You get complimentary sake when you walk in which was a nice treat. We ordered the "live uni" special with ikura and sushi rice - it was INSANE. The wagyu rolls were really tasty and I loved the sauce. The Chili bean sashimi was good but kind of sweet. The Toro sashimi special with uni and truffle wasabi soy was by far the best thing we got. The happy hour karaage bao buns were really good though and same for the kanpachi sashimi! Two things we did not love: the chirashi don was just okay, it lacked flavor and complexity, and the braised pear dessert was really gross lol Overall the service was prompt and friendly and the vibes are sleek & modern but welcoming. Will be back ASAP!!!
How did this place get a Michelin star?! If it's just based
How did this place get a Michelin star?! If it's just based on the ambiance, fine. However, if it's based on the food than komo was no better than my local grocery store sushi. To start we got Kobachi..nothing special here. Followed it up with the pumpkin soup special they had which included lobster and fish. This was the only good dish we had which tasted pretty good. From there we got the oysters. Again, nothing special. This was followed by the Nigiri which was for the most part chewy. Sushi takeout restaurants taste better than the sushi that was served. I'm shocked that this place has a Michelin star. The quality of the sushi and prep is just not there. Definitely not worth spending your money here. Service was good at least and saved it from being a 2 star experience.

That's what AT sponsorships are for - and you are only paying 25% in the first year and then less in year two and three.
I beliebe @EternalAnt36 was sponsored by @PerceptiveWash44 and is now doing $25k/mo.
