First time in Birminghams fabled Chinatown since pre-Covid, and desperate to sample an "All You Can Eat Buffet". I was staying at the hotel across the road from this restaurant, so logic said "win/win" The posters advertised Vegetarian Dishes too. Entered the restaurant and abruptly told where to sit. I ordered the Buffet Lunch for one. Was told "You pay now!" again, rather abruptly . £14.99 which is about right. I confirmed they had a Vegetarian selection and was assured there was.I As soon as I saw the selection, I knew I'd made a mistake. Apart from samosas, spring rolls, onion rings and chips, ALL deep fried, the only other choices were fried rice, reheated mushrooms and over-steamed Broccoli that looked very mushy. There WERE noodles, but traces of pork still remained, like they'd made one batch and seperated them whilst picking out the meat! I took a selection of what I deemed to be vegetarian and sat down. I was given a glass of like-warm tap water. It was slightly colder than the food which was all tepid at best. I didn't venture to desserts as my appetite had gone. So, £14.99 for a plate of less than warm food. Really rubbish. I said I wasn't happy but was met with a blank look. I can see why I had to pay up front, otherwise I'd have simply refused to pay. Afterwards, I had a stroll around the area and annoyed to find several busier restaurants that had happier customers. My advise is to have a mooch around as King of Kings is not a good example of what Chinatown in Birmingham has to offer!
