Love, love, love Kiln
We had lunch up at the counter right in front of the open kitchen, which meant we could talk to the chefs and watch them work. The food was simply stunning, we had several starters, the cap steak a highlight, two curries and a beautiful kohlrabi salad that cooled everything down. Plenty of well rounded spices, great quality ingredients. Good service, tasty beer topped things off!!

We visited Kiln earlier this year. It was our first time and it was recommended to us by a foodie Londoner friend. The restaurant is a cool place, and the staff were very attentive. The food though… wow! It was mightily impressive. It’s small plates which we love as you get to try a variety of different dishes. Every single dish, even the greens were amazing! We’ll definitely be back - thanks for a great lunch!

Managed to get a walk in here after several attempts on previous visits so was happy to get a seat at the counter! It is a busy restaurant that serves very nice Thai food! Had monkfish curry, soy chicken and pot clay pork noodles, well worth a visit!
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyable evening out eating authentic Thai food
Found this place via timeout’s 100 best restaurants in London and it didn’t disappoint. In particular the clay pot noodles and the curries were excellent along with the wine pairing. Only slight disappointment was with the white fish stew dish we had which was a little flavourless. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable meal eating authentic Thai food in an atmospheric setting.

It is only by luck that I ended up going to Kiln a few nights ago and WOW what a treat. They work with "South Eastern Asian" flavors. I only put it in quotes that way because the people that work there were very knowledgable and have way more information to share than that. We were also lucky to squeeze in at the bar without a reservation. i would definitely make a reservation next time to ensure that I can sit at the bar and watch them cook. It was very warm sitting at the bar because of the kitchen, but that does not bother me. In fact, for me it added to the experience. I believe they also have a separate dining room with tables downstairs. The cocktails were also great and they have a concise wine list. I wish I could afford to fly to London once a week just to eat here.

Every chef I speak to recommends Kiln. I understood why after the first visit. The food is clean, unpretentious, full of flavour. The menu isn’t over complicated so making decisions is easy. The glass noodles are an absolute must.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Feels like we ate at a different restaurant than some of the other reviewers. Grumpy services, and food was really disappointing. Famous pork belly crab noodles had no meat of either variety, other dishes were similarly disappointing. Mutton was lovely. We were a group of 6 so ordered almost the whole menu, only enjoyed 3 dishes. Extremely meat heavy, terrible for vegetarians and unpleasant even for meat eaters when plates of only small pieces of meat with no sides appear on the table at random intervals. Extremely expensive and we left hungry and disappointed.

The food was great! Seemed authentic and quality was good. Not come across a place like this, i loved it....
Be the first to ReplyLovely food but the most awful service
Food is brilliant, but it doesn't make up for the terrible service and the attitude of the waitress. Bad service is enough to put us off going back ever. Our table wasn't ready for 30 minutes, so we were left standing around. Understandably, these things happen but at least treat your customers to something whilst they are waiting. If we turned up 30 minutes late, we wouldn't have got our table?! Once we sat down, I explained to the waitress that we were a bit stressed due to the wait. All she could say was "well we are trying" .... and no apology!!! Not really what I wanted to hear. I know you are trying but the wait time needed to be addressed. We were told that food comes out when it comes out. Ok fine. We didn't expect something to come our 30 minutes later than everything else. Our whole table had finished. My napkin was in my bowl and all the waitress could say was "it comes when it comes". Surely you can only use this within reason?! After our meal, we then weren't even spoken to and had to wait 25 minutes to be able to grab someone's attention for the bill. Its safe to say, we didn't pay the service charge. Lovely food but not enough to weigh out the terrible service.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute gem in Soho
Do not hesitate to eat there. If you haven’t tried it before, then it’s a must. Lovely and very friendly staff all around. Probably the best Thai inspired food I've eaten in London! Incredible dishes with exceptional depth of flavor. Every dish left me so happy and just wanting to eat more and more. Kiln is definitely one those restaurants I'd prefer to eat in where the focus is more on the food in a simple and relaxing environment with street food vibes. Every dish was delicious but the stand out dishes for me were the lamb skewers and the monkfish curry, so damn good! Watching the chefs cook away from behind the bar is a fun experience too.

Excellent restaurant. Very interesting menu with a variety and attractive list of choices. Very different from anything else I had tried nearby. Will go again.

As a spicy food lover, was taken to this hidden gem by a friend and the experience was mind-blowing! Tasty, spicy yet enjoyable food, served at the counter by a lovely chap that kept on chatting with us and took us through the whole menu, while serving other customers too. Food was fantastic, with a British take to Thai food. Loved the open kitchen where every single dish was cooked using old-traditional methods, wok on open flames. Food was piping hot all the time and super tasty. Well done guys!

One of, if not the most exciting restaurants I’ve ever tried.
Everything was incredibly delicious, everything took us by surprise.
Absolutely worth a visit
Having walked past Kiln many times and seeing it was always packed out was very pleased we could get a seat at the bar on a busy Friday lunchtime. It’s cramped and buzzy so not recommended if you want a sedate meal but I loved it. The food is spectacularly good - the clay pot noodles with pork belly and crab is rightfully their most celebrated dish and very good value for what it is. Great music too, played from proper vinyl records. I would go once a week if I could afford it. Highly recommend

Excellent food. Great to see it being made in front of you on the counter seats. Bursting with flavour and spice - would definitely visit again.
Be the first to ReplyBusy but good food and great atmosphere
Small space but great atmosphere, great to sit at the bar with a friend (worth the wait) and order some small plates. You can see everything as it's being cooked. Menu is quite meat heavy but I didn't struggle being a non-meat eater. Recommend
Be the first to ReplyQuite different and definitely worth a visit
Went with a couple of mates for lunch as one of them had been there before. The place had a nice vibe and the background music was courtesy of vinyl records being played. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The food was extremely tasty and a couple of the dishes were quite spicy, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Try it love it
Simple restaurant and great dishes everything we tried was fab and exciting to watch it being cooked in front of our eyes
