Kemuri Tatsu-Ya Austin Reviews from The Last Year

Took my finance for her birthday dinner and we recommend to anyone visiting Austin! The aesthetic inside was perfect, our service was great, and the food was the definition of umami!

Made a reservation for a Saturday date night right at opening. We were seated in the covered back porch area where my partner strategically placed himself to steal glances of the Dragon Ball episode they were playing. The porch quickly filled up with diners as the night progressed. Service was...lackluster. You'd think our server had worked a double by his demeanor despite it being the start of the evening. I imagine parking can also get quite bad here later in the night as the lot is tiny. Sadly the food left much to be desired. With a $125 bill (pre-tax), I was expecting a little more. For the same price, I could go to Uchiko for happy hour omakase and leave satisfied. What we ordered: - Smoked Tuna: Not bad but the tuna was in much larger chunks than expected, making some of it a little tough. This needed more delicate pieces along with smaller pieces of onion to not overpower the fish. - Hot Pocketz: Taste-wise, I enjoyed this. Who would have thought tofu skin makes such a good crust? I wish this had actually come out hot. Like a hot pocket. - Ton Maki Skewers: Holy mother of green onion. This should have been advertised as scallions with a hint of pork belly. The massive hunks of scallions overpowered the pork, burning my nose as I tried to swallow this onion bomb. What a waste of pork. I regret putting this in my mouth. - Beefy Shrooms Skewer: The diamond in the rough. I'm mad that this was $14 and that it was good enough that I ordered a second one. Flaky salt complements savory, juicy beef and tender mushrooms. This gets one star just by itself. - BBQ Tsukemen: The tsukemen broth was tasty, and udon noodles were delightfully chewy. The brisket was nothing to write home about, which is a bummer. Food was also quite slow to come out - almost as if they were slammed - yet we were the second table to be seated. Not to mention that almost everything was just lukewarm. Only the beefy shrooms and tsukemen broth were hot. In total, we spent maybe an hour here - much less than we expected. I left hungry and just kind of sad. As someone who loves Japanese and Texas BBQ separately, I was disappointed with how the dishes came together and would not return.

Get a reservation, come early or you'll wait a bit - totally worth it! Multiple trips there and yes, hip, fresh, innovative foods, good drinks. If you're not liking Asian, go away as this is really not your place. If you do, get there! (Yes, hesitant to post a review as more will come, but they deserve it!)
Hear me out.
...Don't skip dessert! This place was crazy interesting and delicious. We had the BBQ boat (omg pork belly), the cornbread, JFC chicken, and the showstopper...the cornbread pudding. We sat at the bar...the restaurant is lively and super interesting. Service was excellent, they always made a point to explain each dish. All of the food was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. For drinks, we had an old fashioned with Japanese whiskey and the DIY grapefruit cocktail. The cornbread pudding is topped with candied pecans and Texas bluebell vanilla ice cream. It was wonderful. 5/5!

Jasper was amazing!!!!! He recommended a few things to us and they were perfect. He is definitely a huge value to this establishment. Now, the food.. WOW absolutely amazing. We got the hot pocket brisket, kaarage, brisket bento box and the bbq eel all of it was amazing! They hit all of the requirements. Only thing I would change is the seating. Aside from that AMAZING!
The food is great the atmosphere is awesome.
Was a little disappointed that outside seating was not pet friendly and that food came out quickly.

Amazing as usual - we had an early reservation and were able to take advantage of the happy hour offering - wish I remembered our server name - we were a party of 6 and it was the first time for 5 of them / he did a amazing job explaining the menu and even my less adventurous friends ended up enjoying all the food I ordered - just a great evening. Service / food / drink / value all 5 stars. Thank you

A nice Texas Japanese BBQ fusion restaurant located in the East side neighborhood in Austin. This can be super hard to miss as it is located right in with other houses. They have some very unique items and they do tapa and family style dining. Our server was great and gave us a great rundown on the menu and suggested what we ordered and just how many plates to order. Some of the standouts for me were the pork belly, brisket, takioyaki (Japanese cornbread), and deep fried chicken thighs. All of our food was delicious the meat was tender and had great flavor. The dishes were unique and each one was special in their own right. The vibe and ambiance is awesome and there are many callouts to Japanese culture. A great 5 star dining experience for me.

Nestled on the east side, this hidden gem might be missed if you're driving too swiftly. With a 6 PM reservation on a Thursday, parking was a breeze in their ample lot. Our server impressed us with their expertise, recommending the perfect number of plates. The family-style dinner offers a diverse range catering to every palate. Don't sleep on the green onions. A great surprise was the happy hour, with drinks and select plates at half price. Our bill, totaling around $180, left us highly satisfied. A fantastic addition to the Ramen Tatsuya restaurant group.
Wow. I took a friend for her 40th and this was the most
Wow. I took a friend for her 40th and this was the most disappointing experience I've had dining experience I've had in a VERY long time. SERVICE: Way too many service for the number of customers. We walked in and approx 20 people were standing there greeting us - there were maybe 10 people in the restaurant (this was 6:00 so early). We were constantly being interrupted and 'educated' about the food. Three servers were constantly in dialogue with us, interrupting our own conversation. FOOD: Mediocre, but high priced. The scallops were too salty to eat. The octopus was with chili - creative, but it kinda ruined the october. and etc. LOCATION: Couldn't have a better location. Hence, the extra star. ALCOHOL: You'll need a high FICO score to order cocktails here. As it was my friend's choice, great, but another trendy, 'high-end' pricey restaurant with snotty wait staff, high prices, and mediocre or less-than mediocre food. I'd recommend ARANDAS (Burnett) any time over this place. Arandas has perfect wait staff, dishes, and low-key ambiance.

Hello All,
I don’t know what else to do as I can’t transfer my cleared funds to my bank account. Customer support is close to non existing and not helpful. How can we keep selling here if we can’t withdraw what we have worked for. They say I have to wait 180 days. This is ridiculous!

You have a 27% refund rate, meaning one out of three of sales you made resulted in a refund.
Not all customers request refunds, some just charge back.
as this needs to be avoided we are asking you to implement a strategy that brings you at less than 10% refund rate
