Kaiseki Yuzu Las Vegas Reviews from The Last Year
Best in Vegas.
Every bite was well thought out. Go for the sake pairing Can't wait to return!
Better, much better than expected! I'd intended to come
Better, much better than expected! I'd intended to come back and add to this review but life got in the way. We did a lot of research, when we visit the Las Vegas area we want to take our son and daughter in law to a nice restaurant, one they would normally not go to. My wife also appreciates fine dining, and I want to please her. In our research, Kaiseki Yuzo was mentioned again and again the the only negative comment was that it was too small. What can I say? It is what it is? If you have a horde to feed, this may not be your place. The decor was elegant, charming and calming. We felt greatly relaxed as soon as we were seated. It seems each party gets their own room, The room we were in was large enough for 8 or so, with our party 4, it was spacious. There is also seating at the bar so you can watch the chefs prepare meals. If it was just my wife and me, we'd have sat at the bar. However, we hadn't seen our son and dil in a year, so we were more focused on one another. The food was superlative. My wife said it was the best meal she's ever had, and she's had some marvelous meals. I haven't had quite the depth and breadth of dining experiences she has had, but I have to agree. Each course was plated elegantly and with precision. Each course was a delight to behold! And they tasted better than they looked. Our waitress gave suggestions about sake we might like in our price range - some of the sake bottles reached stratospheric heights but we thought our sake palates were not sufficiently educated to appreciate those bottles. Her suggestions hit the mark. Our son is a Sommelier and he appreciated the sake selections also. Was the meal expensive? Oh yes! Was it worth it? MOST definitely! Kaiseki Yuzo is on our list of places we need to return to.
A truly phenomenal experience.
It's so beautiful to watch these amazing chefs prepare tiny morsels filled with flavor. Every bite is a delicacy and every plate a piece of art. We did the chiku menu for my birthday and we were so full at the end. The most beautiful ambiance and impeccable service every step of the way!
My friend and I booked a last minute moms' trip to Vegas,
My friend and I booked a last minute moms' trip to Vegas, and we were going to do some off the strip drinks, so we decided to dinner around here. Kaiseki Yuzu is in Chinatown in the back of a parking lot in what looks like a former garage. It's a very intimate space - the room we were in had only 4 counter seats - I think there's another room behind it, but we didn't ever see anyone else. You can do kaiseki or omakase, and we did the omakase. That said, we met a couple on our way out who was heading into do one kaiseki and one omakase - I didn't realize you could split it? They were very good about asking for dietary restrictions / allergies / preferences up front, and they were very accommodating and patient with this. For drinks, they have sake, wine, Japanese whiskies, beers, and highballs. We were on a full day of drinking, so we just did high balls, but they were a great value at only $10 each! To start: Baby trio - all very seasonal, light, and a good way to begin - Young eel - Young peach - Firefly quid with miso sauce Sashimi: Soy marinated tuna with Kyushu nori and kombu marinated hirame, served with wasabi on the side and an interesting yuzu foam. I especially liked the salted yuzu foam with the hirame, and I preferred just wasabi for the tuna Sushi: served with kombu marinated soy, regular ginger, and ume ginger. Some of the nigiri came with red sushi rice, and some came with regular sushi rice (I preferred the red, but they had them strategically paired with specific fish). It's been a while since I've had non pre-dressed sushi. All the sushi is flown in fresh overnight from Japan. Sushi Part 1: 1. Shima aji 2. Bluefin tuna 3. Ainame (greenling): a more unique find - seasonale 4. Amaebi: I'm usually not a fan, but the texture was not bad on this one 5. Pressed sushi from Osaka: cured fish, shiso, sesame seed, yuzu, wrapped with hirame with a light salt and vinegar cure, then torched and finished with kombu. Loved this Steamed black pork belly: with truffle mashed potaotes, sugar snap peas, pork reduction, Chinese mustard - a nice intermission Sushi Part 2: 1. Fuji salmon 2. Clam soup: nice and warming 3. Chu toro 4. Futo maki with shiso, tamago, Hokkaido uni, ikura, tuna, tai snapper, shima aji - I could eat this all day. It was also a great filling to rice ratio 5. Kinmedai 6. Chopped toro hand roll: one of my favorites 7. Tamago: super tender and with good seafood flavor Dessert: Chocolate lava cake and blueberry compote - non traditional for omakase, but it worked well The omakase was $165 per person, which is very reasonable by SF Bay Area standards. Sushi cuts were large and generous (maybe a bit too big for me since I had some motion sickness from the flight in), but no one usually complains about generous sizing. Their style is a mix of edomae and also some influence from Osaka, which was more interesting, and I actually found the futo maki and the boxed sushi to be my favorites this night. This was my first time doing sushi in Vegas, and I'm sure this is better than most sushi you can find on the strip and for a much better price. Service was very attentive, and it was essentially like private dining. If you want an omakase or kaiseki experience off strip, this is it.
My first omakase experience and it was amazing! What
My first omakase experience and it was amazing! What incredible dishes with such fresh ingredients and an exquisite presentation! Service was attentive. We enjoyed the private dining room as a party of 6 but it would have been cool to experience the chefs cooking in front of you at the bar as well I'm sure. Everything was delicious! Of course, it's quite pricey so probably only something I would do once every blue moon but it's worth the experience at least once!
One of the best dining experiences you will ever have
The location is off the beaten path, in a parking lot nowhere near the strip. But once you step inside you are transported to an incredible experience, with carefully cultivated dishes that you’ve likely never had before. All of the sushi is flown in from Japan and the chefs clearly take great pride in their work.
This is my first time at this restaurant, and I ordered
This is my first time at this restaurant, and I ordered from the Chiku menu. Their dishes are exceptionally delicate and incredibly fresh. The flavors are perfectly balanced, not too heavy. The service is also very prompt, without making you wait too long for your food. The prices are very reasonable.

+ After being in the emergency room with my mom for 7+ hours I unfortunately had to cancel a planned trip to Vegas. I called and left a message as soon as humanly possible upon arriving home - nearly 40 hours before my reservation. While I understand policies - the fact this restaurant responded to me with absolutely ZERO human compassion or empathy is disgusting. My mother is still hospitalized and instead of focusing on that I'm worried about the $330 charge for a meal I never had. They most certainly could have filled these seats in 2 days. Id suggest giving your business to another place that treats their customers like humans. Vegas is full of amazing restaurants. Go elsewhere.

Where to start? The Valentine's menu at Kaiseki Yuzu was absolutely mind blowing and made a trip from out of town all the more worthwhile. The most incredible black abalone started the night, and the dishes just kept coming (probably peaking with the A5 Wagyu Beef and Fois Gras dish being set alight!!) ; some of the finest sushi and by far the best handroll I've ever had the pleasure to eat. Sitting in a small room at the back with eight diners made for an incredibly intimate setting, the Chef and his team were happy to answer questions and chat throughout the meal, and the serving staff were absolutely top notch. One of the finest establishments in Las Vegas and one of the best Kaiseki restaurants I've had the pleasure to eat at.
An absolutely unforgettable experience! From the start of
An absolutely unforgettable experience! From the start of the evening everything was perfect. They sat us at the bar where we had the opportunity to watch the chefs prepare our meal. We chose a sake, and got to pick our glasses from a fun collection. The opening course, which highlights the season, included jellyfish, which I had never tried before. The presentation was elite. The meal included 9 courses, including an unmatched otoro and uni hand roll. The soup included a yellowfin shabu shabu that actually made me cry. It brought me back to a childhood that was not my own. There are no proper words to describe that experience. We went for my husbands birthday, and they made it extra special with a cute dessert. They also sent us home with some chopsticks to remember the night.
Food: another delicious Kaiseki meal.
We had the Chiku menu, which is the lower tier menu at $165 per person and was comprised of 9 beautifully thought out and designed seasonal dishes. Each a work of art and wonderfully different textures and tastes to please. Service: always impeccable. My japanese mother was even impressed! We took her there to celebrate her birthday. They even accommodated me and were able to give me fish instead of beef during the grilled course since I don't eat meat. Ambiance: I requested the private room and although you can't reserve it, we were fortunate enough to get it, so I was very pleased at the privacy. Tip: you need to reserve with a credit card and cancellation policy is 48 hours in advance or you will be charged in full due to the uniqueness of their meals. This is a wonderful place for a special occasion. Highly recommend!
Fabulous authentic Japanese Kaiseki worth the splurge!
Fabulous authentic Japanese Kaiseki worth the splurge! Dining here made us miss our time living in Japan. Very polite, attentive staff that takes pride in their service. Sitting at the sushi counter is by far the way to go so you can soak it all up watching the chef's meticulously prepare each course. Every course was absolutely delicious! Very small intimate dining experience with only 8 spots at the sushi counter and two side private rooms for two people each. They only have two dinner seatings, one at 5:30pm and the other at 8pm. Doors open promptly at 5:30pm and there is not a waiting area or bar if you arrive early. It's important to arrive on time since they only have two dinner times and all guests courses are prepared and served at the same time. They have an alcohol menu with wines, sake, beer, and whiskey. Be sure to allow the full two hours for your meal. Highly recommended if looking for a delicious & authentic Japanese meal!
I've been wanting to try one of the Kaiseki restaurants
I've been wanting to try one of the Kaiseki restaurants (Yuzu or Sanga) for the longest time! I finally got around to trying Kaiseki Yuzu for my birthday, and I can easily say this was one of my favorite omakase experiences. First off, they only have seats for 6 people at a time, and they only serve 2 rounds at 5:00pm and 8:00pm, so make your reservations early! The setting is quite intimate, with one chef and one server, so the service was very personal and attentive. The whole dinner was about 15 courses if you counted each piece of nigiri separately. I liked that they put in a mix of cooked food + fresh nigiri in the menu to keep things exciting. We started off with plate of starters including a crab jelly, sweet potato ball, shrimp, baby octopus, and sweet black beans. To my surprise, the black beans were probably my favorite because I was not expecting the burst of flavor from it. Then we had a plate of sashimi, including halibut and ikura. Next, we had a series of fresh nigiri, including blue fin tuna, torched salmon, and Hokkaido scallop. The scallop was my favorite because it was a huge piece and extremely sweet. As the chef prepared the next set of sushi, we were served a mini shabu pot with raw fish that we could cook to our liking. We resumed with the next series of sushi, and it just kept coming! This included chutoro (tuna belly), a red fish, and my favorite - the new year treasure roll, which had almost every fish, including uni, wrapped up into a beautiful roll that looked like a treasure box. Our server explained the traditional customs behind eating this roll during the new year, which I thought was such a great part of the experience. We ended the set with a negitoro handroll and sweet fluffy tamago, which were both delightful. Lastly, the dessert was a beautifully plated fruit tart that was extremely light in texture and rich in flavor at the same time. The cream in the tart was perfectly sweetened, and they even added a little candle for my birthday. Overall, this dining experience was unique, delicious, and satisfying. It makes me want to try the other side of their restaurant, Kaiseki Sanga, even more to see how different it is. I absolutely would recommend this experience to omakase and food experience lovers.
