Perfect staycation at the JW
Fantastic place for a staycation. With a friend in town and the weather not looking ideal for going to the beach, we decided on a last minute staycation at the JW. As a platinum member, we were given an early check in (12pm). Upon arrival, valet parking was very welcoming and friendly. Front desk checking in was super helpful, explaining things about the hotel, the neighborhood and the perks of being able to use facilities at the Marriott across the street. We spent two days at the pool on six. Drinks and food were reasonable prices and the food was surprisingly delicious. One of the waiters had a poor attitude the first day but second day was much more chipper, everyone is allowed to have a bad day here and there. We had access to the executive lounge, which served a solid breakfast in the morning and had snacks/sodas/drinks available all day. Night time was alcohol (honor bar) and some light apps and desserts. We did not eat at any other restaurant or at the cafe downstairs. We had an issue at the pool where a guest was blasting their own music obnoxiously. The front desk handled this quickly and under 5 minutes the music was off and relaxing environment was back in play. Valet pickup was super simple, scan your ticket and give them about 10 minutes. Also, if you have an EV, they have a charger and will charge for you! This is a big perk for us driving down from Orlando. We are also given a 4pm check out, perfect to enjoy the pool one more time. We are really looking forward to our next visit. Thanks JW Marriott!
Be the first to ReplyExecutive Club closed on weekends
Please note that the Executive club is closed on the weekends. This was disappointing as it was a factor in my hotel selection. I also did not appreciate the mandatory Destination fee which I was unable to use. Nice hotel but not worthy of the expense. Better options in a Tampa.
Be the first to ReplyFavorite for a discerning traveling 5/5
JW Marriott Tampa boasts stunning decor throughout the lobby and rooms. Check-in is a breeze, and the rooms are meticulously cleaned. The nightly champagne service adds a touch of luxury, while the upscale bar was delicious. The breathtaking pool was a divine treat. Overall, a standout property offering both elegance and convenience. Love this property highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hotel
Great hotel. Kari at the front desk is a delight. Rooms are clean and spacious. Pool is awesome. Rooftop bar has incredible views and great drinks. Lobby bar also has ton of room to work from during the day. Big fan of this place and will definitely be staying here again in the future.
Be the first to ReplyDave West Is Great! Service is always phenomenal!!!
Dave West is the best! We always come back because the service is phenomenal! I have a bad pollen allergy, the room they gave us is hypoallergenic room which helps me to sleep better! Thank you Dave for the room upgrade and amenities for our engagement celebration!
Be the first to ReplyGreat 2 night stay
Wonderful stay. My upgraded 1BR suite with a west view was wonderful, clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needed. Loved the pool (better than the JW across the street). The value of the $30 fee was great and loved the water taxi option in addition to the nightly beverage tasting and $30 food credit. The concierge’s space was great and had a very good breakfast, snacks and dessert.

I was at this property working a convention in March 2024. Since I was working, I had asked if it would be possible to get a room with a bathtub as I like to soak my feet after being on them all day. I was told that in order to get a room with a bathtub, I would have to upgrade, which I was unable to do since I was traveling for work. However, I find this policy a bit strange. Would they really charge a family on vacation MORE just so that they could bathe their children in a tub? I was rather unhappy with the shower that was part of my room for two reasons – the first is that the tile flooring was VERY slippery and the second is that the handheld shower head was not one you could actually remove from its holder. Little water came out of it anyway (ever after trying to adjust the water directional) so why even have it there? But the main showerhead worked fine. The water pressure was good and the hot water plentiful so that was a plus. They offer shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I found the bed and pillows to be uncomfortable though that can be hit or miss with hotels but it makes it rough when exhausted and needing a good night's sleep. The bathroom had a makeup mirror, which is not usual but definitely good to have but it was very low on the wall making it a little difficult to use. One positive was the the staff I interacted with were all very pleasant. However, overall, I would not say that this property was any better than average and definitely not a good value.
Be the first to ReplyBest bet in Tampa Bay
This hotel is fantastic. It is a fairly new hotel right by the awesome Tampa Riverwalk. The staff across the boards were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is extremely clean. They have a great spa and fairly well-equipped gym. Stayed here five days this week in a small corner-suite and aside from a hockey game with a little bit of “excitement noise” from the arena next-door that ended by 930 or 10 PM; no noise issues which is incredibly important to me personally. We really loved our week here and will stay here again. Our first trip to Tampa we stayed at the Edition, and although it was aesthetically, pleasing the noise from both the nightclub on the first/second floor and ninth floor sandwiches all the guestrooms in between so it’s tough to get peace inside your guest quarters. And the JW Clearwater not too too far away was fantastic on the second stay, but it’s a little bit too far away from downtown Tampa for us. I must however mention that on our second stay here in the Tampa area we were booked to stay here at the JW, Tampa, Water Street, and we ended up canceling due to some incredibly rude personnel who we dealt with over the phone as related to some minor arrival requests. I take that, however, as an anomaly as our five days here this week could not have been better, and the staff could not have been more welcoming and wonderful. I am incredibly picky, so trust me, you will not be disappointed here!
Be the first to ReplyAnniversary trip in Tampa
The hotel is pretty, great downtown location & walkable to many bars, restaurants, convention center, Amelie Arena, etc. It sits on the Riverwalk. We arrived at 10am and they had a room available which was wonderful. We were there to celebrate 23 yrs of marriage and they upgraded us to a corner king on the 12th floor. Very nice. The room was comfortable, clean, and relatively quiet. Bed was comfy, bathroom & shower big with aromatherapy bath products. We asked for turn down service & got it all but 1 night. I found the hair dryer a bit weak. The heated pools sit on the 6th floor which also has a communal lawn area to gather with games, tables & chairs, stuff like that. The gym and spa are on 6th as well. Hubby said the gym was nice. There are a few restaurants & a rooftop bar. It connects to the Marriott across the street so you get double the options to eat & swim. We did not have a car so cannot comment on the parking situation. We are Marriott BonVoy members so didn’t need to pay for upgraded wifi. It worked fine for us. Minus 1 star for their concierge services. They contacted us via email a few weeks before our arrival to inquire about our favorite wine / dessert to celebrate our anniversary. We responded with our requests & thought it was very thoughtful. In the week leading up to our trip, I emailed them twice to inquire about options to watch the Super Bowl at / near the hotel. I got no response. When we arrived, nothing ever came to our room regarding our anniversary (wine / cake / card). Remember they were the ones to email us originally. Our last day there, my hubby stopped down to ask the front desk, and only then did something come later that day. By then it was too late. Just very odd & they need to re-evaluate their concierge services department. Overall, it was a nice stay minus their concierge.

Me and my partner returned to Tampa this past weekend. We had a great time! And this time I treated her to the JW Marriott, the staff was friendly, the room was nice. And you cannot beat the view. Thank you so much for having us! We will return again

Beautiful luxurious treatment! The cleanliness of my stay and sophistication of the staff was top tier. From my warm welcoming to my easy home going, this is definitely apart of my top 5 sleeping accommodations. The spa was also amazing and would highly recommend.
Be the first to Replyif you want to be bullied by their wonderful little rent a cops derek ryan and jacob stay herehere
if you want to get treated like a criminal stay here. I know the NJ devils team for 30 years and I am an amex centurion member not only should the head of security but the gm should be ashamed. They lied w their little puppets security team threatning me and saying the team said I was harrassing them w is complete bs. Never again. The room was digusting the attitudes of the staff and their wonderful security. Who needs it to be defamed.
Be the first to ReplyStay at the Marriott water street not JW
We have stayed at the Marriott Tampa water street about 10 times and have loved it each time. We decided to switch it up and stay at the “fancy” JW Marriott across the street for the weekend. We payed $200 more a night than we normally do and it was a big mistake. Rooms were dated, horrible service, average bar, average food and we didn’t get our room cleaned till 10pm on 2 separate nights. We actually had to ask twice. Do your self a favor and stay at the Marriott Tampa water street. You won’t be disappointed
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Like a lot of people after Covid this was our first trip back to America since 2019 and our first time to Tampa. We were so looking forward to our vacation and our first night stay was at the JW Marriot. Firstly on arrival it must have taken 40 minutes to complete the last 200 yds due to traffic. We had come over from a long distance and had too many bags to get out and walk. This was not the hotel's fault but infiormation for when there is an event taking place. When we eventually arrived there was no one to greet outside, so my wife and I eventually located a bellman trolley at the back of the reception, loaded our bags and pushed to reception. When we eventually spoke to a receptionist they had no interest in engaging with us, no "where have you come from" "have you had a long flight" "welcome to Tampa". I asked have we a nice room, we have had a long flight. Again nothing just give us your credit card so you can pay for the room. A bellboy by now decided he would take our cases from the lift entrance to the room. Once in the room we decided to have a shower and there was a spit to the hose of the shower luckily there were two heads so we could still shower. The next morning we received an e-mail from our future destination asking us to ensure we had printed off our luggage tags. We had not, so queued at reception and asked another receptionist could you please print off our four tags required. Again not interested in fact said they were only allowed to print two pages, and said there was a outside company on site who would print the labels for a charge and to move on and find the the company on site. I am so disappointed, it is not the fact the amenities were not nice and clean, although the shower leaked, my concern is the lack of service not all of us are from conferences, we are on our vacation and are really looking forward to our stay surely just a little acknowledgement would go a long way. In fact we had booked to stay at the JW Marriot on our return to Tampa but have now cancelled and rebooked with another hotel.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing hotel in a great location
The JW Marriott Tampa Water St was a wonderful place to stay while we were celebrating our wedding through the weekend at various places in downtown Tampa. The customer service in the guest services area, the food services, and the bar areas were outstanding and they all went above and beyond to ensure the customers were satisfied and happy. I definitely encourage staying at this hotel because of the great service and amazing location since it's so close to everything downtown (or at least in walking distance to the trolley station if you want to go farther).
Be the first to ReplyHorrid
Horrid experience! Rude front desk, The room is filthy, the bell service is lazy and expects a tip for nothing, and the valet is just ridiculous! It took 45 minutes to get a car I requested because THEY DIDNT GRAB MY KEY! I pay for parking and they just do as they please hanging out and talking before they help out anyone. IF ITS NOT A TIP THEY SAY FORGET IT !!! Your better off getting a different valet service in that hotel because that’s just horrible!
Be the first to ReplyGood for a quick overnight to attend arena events
Right next to the Arena and that’s what we want from this hotel. Perfect for a quick night at a game or a show. We’ve done that a few times now here and recommend it. Access to the arena is via numerous routes from the hotel lobby. We did have an incident where they gave us a room that was occupied and we could have done without that experience. Rooms need a deep clean and some paint.
Be the first to ReplyConstruction Nightmare
Picture the scene... you get 3 rooms in the only "luxury" hotel in Tampa, FL and have a conference call scheduled with your national team. Then, you are unable to hear yourself think as jackhammering happens all around your rooms. Then, you call the front desk find out that they are building a restaurant on the floor above and will be ripping up tile for the next 5 hours. As a business traveler and a titanium member of Marriott, I expect a certain level of decorum, especially in a luxury property. To not be warned about this in advance is completely unacceptable and I've never been more disappointed in a luxury experience. The poor guy at the front desk was incredibly thoughtful and understanding - and that I appreciate. He agreed with me that we should have been warned about this planned work in advance. I would surely have requested a much lower floor or stayed at a different property for this trip.

We love this property. It is our go to in Tampa. Beautiful hotel and great service! The staff is exceptional! A special thank you to Nicholas and Carter at the pool. They were so helpful and welcoming. We can’t wait to be back!
Be the first to ReplyEXCEPTIONAL customer service and great amenities!
I have been to many hotels since we lifted out of COVID, and many have had issue with staffing that ultimately affect the guest experience. Whatever management is doing at this property, PLEASE keep it up!!! My best friend and I took a trip to do a late birthday celebration, visit some local friends and get some sun and we had an AMAZING experience here. Of note, Andrew, Nicholas, and Alejandro (part of the spa team that helps at the pools/cabanas) and Destinie (poolside server) and Ryan (breakfast manager at the restaurant) were exceptional!!! I highly recommend this property whether you're there for work or for fun. I travel quite often (you can't get to Ambassador status and Platinum for life without seeing your share of hotels) and when customer service is as wonderful as this, then you have to leave a review and encourage others to support this staff and commend management for creating a work environment where they're happy. Thank you JW Marriott Tampa team! We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyTrue Luxury in the Heart of Downtown Tampa! This is the BEST PLACE to Stay Downtown!!!
Dates of Stay: Friday, 1/27/23 - Saturday, 1/28/23 Total Nights: 1 In a nutshell, the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street truly is THE place to stay in Downtown Tampa -- it is the only true luxury property in the area, offering AMAZING staff and spacious, well-appointed guest rooms with beautiful views! If your travels bring you to the Downtown Tampa Area, do not miss your chance to enjoy true luxury in the heart of Downtown Tampa at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street!!! Now, for my detailed review: First, know that the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street remains in pristine, like-new condition! Having opened at the end of December 2020, it is one of the newest -- and certainly the nicest -- property in the Downtown Tampa area! The Lobby and all common areas are still bright and sparkling like new, and the Guest Rooms are some of the finest and newest that you will find in the area. Such a pristine condition in the heart of what is a very busy convention city truly gives the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street an edge over every other property in Downtown Tampa! The next major selling point for this beautiful property it its location -- you truly cannot find a more perfect location to stay for any event that brings you to the Downtown Tampa area! The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street is located -- as its name would suggest -- in the heart of the newly revitalized Water Street Tampa District. This region is home to Amalie Area, the Tampa Convention Center, Sparkman Wharf, the Florida Aquarium and the beautiful Tampa Riverwalk. Within steps of all of the main attractions that Downtown Tampa has to offer, the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street could not be in a better location! We have wanted to try out this beautiful new hotel for the last year, and when Jeff Dunham came back to Tampa to perform at the Amalie Arena, we figured that this would prove a perfect time to try out the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street. We were certainly not disappointed -- well, we were ... we were disappointed that we had not tried this amazing property sooner! It was perfectly located just steps from the Amalie Arena, and within a matter of minutes, we were able to get from our beautiful Suite to the Arena for our show. It could not have worked out better; should you travel to Downtown Tampa for any event at the Amalie Area -- or even at the Tampa Convention Center, which sits on the other side of the property -- there is no better place to stay than the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street! Unfortunately, our stay was such a quick one-night stay, but we certainly will come back soon to experience the true luxury of this property for a longer stay! The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street can be accessed directly from Water Street, and -- much like most Downtown Properties -- parking is Valet Parking only. At a cost of $38/night, you will find Valet Parking at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street to be in line with that of surrounding properties, but the difference you will find is the easy in-and-out access direct onto Water Street, allowing for easy entry and exit from the Downtown Tampa Area. Additionally, we found the Valet Attendants to be extremely friendly and efficient -- even on a night that was extremely busy due to the fact that Jeff Dunham was performing and that Gasparilla was starting the next morning. All-in-all, with its quick and efficient Valet Staff and its easy in-and-out, a stay and parking at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street truly is the way to go for any event at Amalie Arena! As you exit your car in the Valet Entry at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street, you will find a beautiful wall-of-water that showcases the property's sign. You will the enter into a vibrant and modern lobby with a well-staffed Front Desk. We were welcomed by a Front Desk Agent, who was happy to tell us about the property and thank us for our loyalty to the Marriott Bonvoy Program. She also explain some of our Titanium Elite Benefits -- which included Executive Lounge access, and breakfast vouchers for when the Executive Lounge was not open. A very friendly and efficient check-in process and within a matter of minutes, we were on our way to our room. A quick note as to the Executive Lounge. Unlike many properties that have discontinued Executive or Concierge Lounges post-COVID, the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street is a breath of fresh air in that it has not. Located on the 5th Floor, you will find a beautiful and ultra-modern Executive Lounge that offers complimentary Hors d'oeuvres and Dessert, along with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages with an "Honor Bar" should you wish for anything more. Unfortunately, as this is a Downtown Property, like most, this Executive Lounge is only open during the week -- you will find it open 5:30p on Sunday until 12p on Friday. Should your stay occur during the week, this is a wonderful option which I would highly recommend! As for accommodations, you cannot beat the Rooms & Suites at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street! As I said, everything at this property feels fresh and new, with the Rooms & Suites being no exception! Starting at just over 400 square feet, all Rooms at this property feel very spacious compared to those at other Downtown Tampa Properties. Each room has elegant and modern furnishings that exemplify the luxury that JW Marriott is known for, and all offer the Marriott brand-standard SmartTV featuring on-scene guide and access to numerous streaming services. Additionally, most rooms at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street offer truly excellent views of the Downtown Tampa Area and its surrounding waters! As for our specific room, we wanted to experience all of the luxury that the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street had to offer, so we booked a Chairman Suite. These Suites are just over 800 square feet and are located on the higher floors, offering beautiful Bay Views. Our Suite was located on the 25th Floor (the property is 26 stories tall) and offered truly spectacular views of the area! Upon entry into the room, we walked into a large sitting area offering floor-to-ceiling windows that showcased the Downtown Tampa Skyline. Further into the room was a large corner living area, complete with a plush couch -- that turns into a sleeper sofa -- a small dining table, and a beautiful new LG SmartTV. The best part of the living area was the fact that it was situated on a corner, offering beautiful views of the Downtown Tampa Waterways from two different vantage points. We could the enter the bedroom directly via a sliding door, or via the large bathroom that connects the living area and the bedroom. The bathroom in a Chairman Suite is MASSIVE -- a separate toilet room and oversized sink/vanity, connecting to yet another room which housed a HUGE glass shower and a luxurious soaking tub. The bedroom featured an extremely comfortable King Bed with plush linens and pillows, another new LG SmartTV and even more beautiful views of the Tampa Bay Waterways. All-in-all, some of the finest accommodations that you will find in Downtown Tampa! My tip to you is to splurge on a Suite to enjoy all of the luxury that JW Marriott is known for! As for Housekeeping; unlike many properties, the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street has returned to full housekeeping ... including turn down service! You will find Housekeeping to be extremely efficient, and -- in a post-COVID world -- the rooms were spotlessly clean! A quick wipe down of any hard surface with a white Clorox wipe revealed no dirt or dust -- a pleasant change for a Downtown Tampa location! As for Dining, since we were only Downtown for the Jeff Dunham event -- which ran until after 10pm -- we ended up enjoying Room Service with the views from our beautiful Suite! I must say, for "late night" dining, service was AMAZING -- food arrived in less than 30-minutes, was piping hot and all of the food was very tasty! With Room Service that good, we truly cannot wait to return and try the property's other two main dining establishments, "Six" and "Driftlight." Before we left early on Saturday morning, we did a quick walk-through of the rest of the property, and we were left wanting to come back to experience it all! The property features a wonderful Pool Deck on the 6th Floor; it is rooftop, and it offers sweeping views of the Downtown Tampa Waterways to include the many cruise ships that call Port Tampa home on a Saturday morning. The Pool Deck features ample seating and private Cabana Rentals, which would make the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street a true oasis in Downtown Tampa for a lovely stay-cation. Additionally, this property offers the typical "Spa by JW" -- what appears to be a wonderful and luxurious Spa! All-in-all, a truly beautiful property with plenty to keep you occupied and pampered throughout your stay! To sum up this long review, I truly cannot explain to you how wonderful and beautiful you will find the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street to be -- this is honestly something that you will need to experience for yourself! Such an opulent and pristine property offering true luxury in Downtown Tampa is one that should not be missed on your next trip to the Tampa Bay Area!!!

Located in the downtown area of Tampa, JW Marriott is arguably the best hotel in Tampa. The food, the service, and the room qualities were all top-notch. Its location in Tampa is also very nice. The downtown area is mostly clean and newly built, and provides accessible to the riverwalk and Armature works. A tram that stops right in front of the hotel takes you to Ybor city. Most of Tampa (excluding St Pete) is a short ride away. For visitors, I suggest trying out the hotel restaurant, Driftlight and the pool. Last but not least, I would like to thank Julie for her warm smile and phenomenal service.

Great location. Close to the Riverwalk, the convention center and next to the Amalie Arena. Easy access to plenty of restaurants. New hotel with all the modern conveniences. The A/C worked well and the beds were very comfortable. The staff in the concierge lounge were fabulous. The shower was wonderful. I look forward to returning.
