Jungsik Seoul Reviews from The Last Year
I have a hot take.
Jungsik was good, but not the mind-blowing I was anticipating. I had very high expectations of Jungsik especially after having to been to Jua, and was excited to experience more contemporary Korean cuisine. It's difficult not to compare the two. Given that Jungsik has two stars, and had a significantly greater price point than Jua's one star, I was expecting it to be out of this world. The food was excellent, don't get me wrong, with special attention to the appetizer to start (was phenomenal; the entire five dishes were a "taste" of the dishes to follow, and it was interesting to follow this thread throughout the remainder of the meal), and the heavenly octopus (best I ever had, succulent yet crispy in all the right places). However, the rest didn't stand out as strongly to me. A point of personal bias may be that I prefer lighter, more acidic foods versus (sashimi, vegetables) more heavier, saucier foods, which Jungsik had more of. I also felt that the desert add-ons weren't worth it, and I was expecting more of a stand out in these dishes that would cost extra. Service was outstanding though, and the waiters and waitresses were incredibly hospitable and kind. Incredible food and service, but would I return? Probably not, you can catch me at Jua
The best fine dining experience I've ever had.
It truly deserves the three Michelin star. Food, service, ambiance were all 10/10!!
Never been to a restaurant treating clients with as much
Never been to a restaurant treating clients with as much disdain. Pity they don't teach client respect and consideration before any other thing when you are in the hospitality business.
JungSik (hands down) has the absolute best food in NYC.
If you like delicious food--and who doesn't--and/or want to treat yourself to a great meal, this is the place for you. The full tasting menu is amazing but so is the a la carte 'bar menu'. It's impossible to pick a favorite but highlights are definitely the sea urchin rice and the yellowfin kimbap. And the service is also impeccable (and friendly). I cannot recommend JungSik any more highly or think of any better restaurant in NYC.
A very enjoyable experience and service.
They made it very special for my birthday and was definitely full by the end. They were very accommodating for my dairy free restriction which was appreciated. The wife had the full vision but didn't notice too much of a difference through out the menu. For a two Michelin star in New York, I was expecting a taste bud euphoria trip which never really happened. Everything was just really good. The sea urchin was only thing we didn't enjoy. Texture and taste was off and at a premium for add on made it a less than appealing choice. The wagyu was almost too tender like bone marrow. The ventura mencia ribeira sacra I would drink again. Great fruit forward wine but not too sweet. The woojeon tea first steeping was excellent. Don't bother with second steeping. No taste. The desserts were fantastic with the stand out being the refreshing palate cleanser snowball I call it :)
Wow! What an experience.
Food was incredible from the very first bite until the last. Service is high quality, not synchronized but very professional, and anticipated the needs of the customer. There was only one instance in the first dish where five items were served on individual pedestals where were had to reach over another item in order to eat it in the chef's recommended order. My favorites included the banchan, kimbap, octopus and desserts! Great flavors and textures - including crispy crusts and soft succulent flesh. I loved all the desserts - including the 'carrot' cake and the truffle cone! The pastry chef perfectly balances taste with ingenuity and creativity. We also got the premium wine pairing which was great. The atmosphere chic and calm, great for small groups or couples. My only slight qualm was that one of the servers was very pushy about us ordering more drinks. This felt out of place at a fine dining establishment, and every other member of staff was so helpful and friendly that I think this was an anomaly.
Jungsik serves up food that clearly deserves three Michelin
Jungsik serves up food that clearly deserves three Michelin stars, but does it without all the fuss and pretentiousness that one can encounter at a restaurant with that third star. This was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had the privilege to enjoy. Each course was a stand out and there was an element of fun throughout the meal without it seeming gimmicky. If I was going to choose a favorite course, it would be the scallop. It was perfection. A close second would be the octopus, and that's coming from someone who really doesn't like octopus. It's clear why that dish remains a Jungsik staple. The staff is so attentive and is keen to ensure every party has a memorable experience. And I must say their play list of 80s music was the best soundtrack of any Michelin starred restaurant I've ever been to- simultaneously classy but chill. Jungsik, don't ever change; you're perfect the way you are.
This is spot is an EXCELLENT fine dining experience.
I came here with a group of friends and everyone loved this meal and left feeling full. One member in our group is vegetarian, and they crushed it accommodating for her needs. The ambiance is beautiful and not super stuffy. Our group definitely felt comfortable laughing without feeling like we were making too much noise in the space. For drinks, both the wine pairing or cocktails were fantastic. I went with the cinnamon roll cocktail- if you like a sweet and creamy flavor profile you'll love this and it comes with an adorable cinammon swirl on top. The tasting menu was just one phenomenal course after the other. My favorite savory dish was the arctic char and favorite sweet dish was the carrot cake. The service was wonderful the entire way through. Constantly getting the chairs for us, providing new napkins when we left for the bathroom, and when we were leaving, I left my phone there by accident, but the waiter ran out after us in the rain to get me my phone back. I can't wait to come back here and experience more Korean restaurants!
2 star Michelin! This is my fifth time at Jungsik.
The food is high-quality and there's a rotating menu every season or so, the plating and food is meticulously crafted with detailed oriented chefs. The service is excellent, the server came back and refilled our water continuously and checked in to see how full we were or how the food is. The ambience is dim lit and perfect for a nice dinner. Highly recommend. The menu is about $300/pp, we got the seasonal black ice cream add on for an additional $25. Worth it!
Having been to Jungsik twice now, I can say with confidence
Having been to Jungsik twice now, I can say with confidence that it has consistently amazing dishes and staff. It remains my favorite place to get a nice, high quality course meal in NYC. I'd choose Jungsik over Brooklyn Fare any day!! From the reimagined banchan to start to the unique desserts at the end (the carrot--basically reimagined carrot cake--and the walnut--a pancake-like shell with warm red bean inside--were some of the best sweets I've ever eaten), the entire meal at Jungsik is incredible. The menu may get refreshed based on the season/ingredients, but delicious menu staples such as the crispy-yet-tender octopus thankfully remain. No matter what you get, every bite of each dish is full of flavor and perfectly prepared and plated. Each ingredient shines and the texture and flavor are highlighted to make the dish outstanding (for example, the seaweed in my hand roll was delightfully crispy and amplified each bite I took with the soft, flavorful accompanying fish). This is truly a special culinary experience that is worth every penny. In addition to the food going above and beyond, the service does, as well. My server noticed I was left-handed after I took my first bite of the banchan and adjusted my place setting and dish layout accordingly. I've NEVER had that happen before and was blown away by the attention to detail. My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion, and each staff member who assisted us wished us a happy anniversary. The staff were professional but warm, not stiff as in other nice restaurants, which we appreciated. Jungsik is "elevated Korean" fine dining, and the ambiance matches this theme. The restaurant has a clean but not stark vibe, and ample seating for those who wish to try the full menu, plus a bar for those walk-ins who just want a particular item a la carte (which I didn't know was possible and learned about on my last visit). If you have a special occasion or just want some incredible food, definitely add Jungsik to your list!
Good Food but Inconsistent Experience
My wife and I had dinner here. We arrived and found an empty reception stand. After a few minutes someone showed up who put us on an elevator to the 2nd floor where the restaurant is located. We were taken to a table that had a chair and a rounded couch for seating. I sat in the chair as I prefer to sit in a chair and also prefer to sit across from my wife, not next to her. The woman server who seated seated us made me move and wouldn’t let me sit in the chair. I found that very irritating. Why have a chair at the table if you can’t sit in it? Am I paying them or are they paying me? Not a good start to the evening. They offered a set menu with supplements. The standard menu was pretty reasonable at approximately $200 USD. The supplements started at $60 and some doubled the cost of the dinner. They also offered pricey wine pairings (5 glass or 9 glass). We opted for the standard menu plus a bottle of wine. Overall, I would say that the food was very good. None of the dishes were bad and a few were outstanding. The desserts, in particular, were great, Aside from the woman who moved me from the chair, the service was pretty good. The woman server who had lived in California was very good and spoke excellent English. We had some difficulty understanding the other servers. The bathrooms are located on the third floor and are not well maintained. I walked in to 2 different bathrooms in which the toilets had not been flushed. Pretty disappointing for a 2 star restaurant. I liked the food but was pretty disappointed with other aspects of our visit. It definitely was not a 2 star experience for us.
The striped jack and langoustine were incredible service
The striped jack and langoustine were incredible service was amazing highly recommend
Presentation was great.
The yellowtail kimbap was one of the most sensational experiences I have had. Service was attentive.
Loved Jungsik! Superb service and well-paced, delicious
Loved Jungsik! Superb service and well-paced, delicious meal. Came here for their valentine's day menu and the meal started off strong with their amuse-bouche, which was arguably my favorite part of the meal. Of the mains, my favorites were the latter half: the arctic char was absolutely to die for and came in the most delicious emulsion, the black cod was extremely soft and melted in my mouth, the yellowtail kimbap was not only fun to eat but the nori was crunchy and the fish and rice were so fresh, and the galbi was amazingly tender. My only complaint from the mains was I found the octopus to be a tad bit too oily for my preference. As for the desserts, my favorite by far was the chestnut tart. It was creamy, filled with such a variety of textures, filling without feeling overly heavy in taste. A dessert heaven!
I did not know what to expect from a 2 Michelin star Korean
I did not know what to expect from a 2 Michelin star Korean named restaurant. I couldn't fathom how Korean food could be elevated to Michelin star status. We were celebrating our anniversary and looking forward to an upscale experience. Upon entry, we were seated at a corner table. The decor was understated, clean and elegant. I felt prepared for a refined dining experience. The waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing. We decided to do one alcoholic pairing and one nonalcoholic pairing. A different drink came with each dish on the tasting menu. It was interesting that there were nonalcoholic "wines". The sommelier explained each drink. Although the wines were nice, in hindsight I would probably have opted for a couple of cocktails instead as I clearly could not fully enjoy the entire pours of each wine. The tasting menu had 7 savory dishes and 3 sweet. There were also items you can add at an additional cost. I very much enjoyed each dish but my favorite was the arctic char. We had also noted that I have an allergy to strawberries. There was a mixup which they realized afterwards. Thankfully I was okay but they were profusely apologetic and even brought out the truffle cone (which was on the add on menu) as a service which we were so fortunate to try. Every dish was seasoned perfectly, the service was impeccable and the ambiance was perfect. The only thing I want to comment further is, please do not come here expecting traditional Korean food, usually signified by KBBQ. There were aspects alluding to Korean cuisine, such as reference to banchan which means small side dish, a reinvented version of the steamed egg dish, kimbap, a hint of white kimchi...being Korean, I associate Korean food with hearty comfort foods. We did not leave hungry but this was definitely not KBBQ. Come here to enjoy an upgraded, refined, French influenced tasting menu.
Unbelieveable tasting menu with first class service.
Can not say enough about each and every course. Absolutely unique and spectacular. Worth every penny.
Every year wifey and I try to have a really special dinner
Every year wifey and I try to have a really special dinner for our anniversary and this year, 2 Michelin star Jungsik. The restaurant is named for its founder/chef Yim Jung Sik, and although it is considered a Korean restaurant, the food is unlike any Korean food I have ever eaten. The techniques that are used on dishes like the octopus where the suction cups are very charred and crispy but the meat is so tender and juicy, to the kimpap where the seaweed shell is fried to a hard crispy shell, to the squid amuse bouche that is a ball of absolute deliciousness! We enjoyed every bite of food. I will not bother listing everything we had because i posting the personalized menu they gave us at the end with a list of (almost) everything we had. They did not include the truffle cone dessert that was added or the special sweet creamy dollop that came on a personalized anniversary dish. I am not a huge fan of truffle so I was worried the dessert would be too truffle, but that turned out to be my favorite dessert dish and probably in my top 3 bites of the night. Wife did the wine pairings and I did the non-alcoholic drink pairings. Some of their pours were very generous so I wound up having to finish my wife's drinks. Such a sacrifice ! In addition to the amazing food and drinks, we had an amazing host for the night in Allegra! She watched over us all night and made this dinner so special that we will never forget it! Jungsik deserves all their stars and more!
Interesting Korean fine dining
I had an excellent lunch at Jungsik restaurant. The set menu had 8 courses, and all of the dishes were cooked perfectly. Their amuse bouche and gimbap were stand out to me. I had an opportunity to taste different textures throug five small bites in the amuse bouche set. Each bites had a distinct flavor, such as earthy or sweet. The gimbap was crispy at the outside and soft inside. Combined with the soft rice, the gimbap had a complex layer of flavors. However, I think "New York - Seoul" dessert could be a little bit better by increase the bitterness of chocolate. I found it too sweet for me. Additionally, I love the way tables were arranged. Tables were not so close together, which created a private space for each diner. But overall, I love this high-end Korean food that Jungsik offered.
Presentation and quality is out of this world.
They managed a large party with the utmost perfection.
Don't miss!
Great spot for a nice meal - the vegetarian menu was amazing. The carrot cake was probably the best dessert I have ever had.
Presentation and service was excellent.
Unfortunately for a 2 Michelin restaurant, I'd expected the food to blow my mind but it didn't. It's not that the food wasn't good but there wasn't really anything on the menu that made me feel like the flavors were truly unique and exceptional (except for the pastry that looked like a real carrot). The food was cooked well though - the octopus was really moist. I wish there was more of an innovative experience on traditional Korean dishes but it felt like there was only the soup and the kimbap. Since this was the most I've paid for at a restaurant, I expected the experience to match the price point but it did not.
A classic spot to try a Korean fusion tasting menu.
There were some of the same dishes from the menu at Jungsik in Seoul from a couple years ago. Overall though, we enjoyed almost all of the courses, and portions were definitely enough. We were very full by the end of the meal.

What a great dinner, from the beginning to the end of our experience everything was phenomenal.
Fine dining, simply amazing
Service was impeccable, we were greeted warmly and despite being early the table was ready. We booked roughly one month in advance via CatchTable app that is common in Korea. You have to pay the set meal course price in advance but we didn't mind. Every course was delicious and we'll presented, and we ordered a bottle of red wine with it (not the recommended pairing). Spend around 3 hours at Jungsik and enjoyed every minute of it. Seafood dishes were excellent and the truffle wagyu meat course only one of the highlights. An amazing experience
Dining worthy of its name
It's nice to find special people. I'm satisfied every time I go... It's a good place to go when you want to gift special Korean food to foreign friends. There are more people visiting at the end of the year, so it may be difficult to make a reservation. Make a reservation in advance and use it~

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
