Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf Dubai Reviews from The Last Year
Nice hotel, great water activities
The trip was enjoyable, but most of all I would like to commend the Hydro aquatics team, in particular the hydrojet driver/instructor Musa. Musa helped me learn how to use a waterboard comfortably and quickly. It was interesting and exciting
Our experience in Dubai
The attitude towards guests is terrible. They didn’t reacted on our request , and moved us to another room only on 3 day. We were given the farthest and noisiest room near roads . They take a very long time to respond to requests. They couldn’t remove the deposit from the card - they blocked our cards from the room, I had to go argue and sort things out! The children could not get into the room. We are disappointed with this attitude. Service for 3️⃣….
Amazing trip - family friendly
We had the most amazing stay in Dar Al Masyaf - extra credit to butler Sharif who looked after us every day and made our trip feel extra special!
Once but not again
We were there as a family including children and grandparents. The hotel complex is super nice but the service is not in keeping with the price category. We were there for 10 days in Villa 9, which was very nice in itself, but the pigeons leave their droppings everywhere outside. In The Hide restaurant, my daughter had hair in her food and the African-American restaurant manager argued with us that it was ours. After a long discussion, he offered the child an ice cream as "compensation" and we still had that on the bill. Only the butler in Villa 9 was really magical. After that we went to the Burj Al Arab. This is worth the money in comparison. The clientele in Dar al Masjaf was mainly Russian.
Not what it used to be ......
This is our second visit to Dar Al Masyaf and 10th visit to Jumeriah properties and I love this hotel but its simply not as good as last time. This is a problem when you go back to properties where you've had such a good time and outstanding service, but I feel that Jumeriah are not helping themselves with some of the changes they've made. Before Arrival We were on the half board option and when doing our research we were being told to book restaurants early. We tried to do this online, and nothing was available. This panicked us a bit and we emailed the hotel about some reservations. Initially we had no reply but after chasing them up we did get reservations at the Hide and Zeng He's. We did try to book brunch at Al Qasr but this was a nightmare. No one could confirm if we had a reservation or not, so we booked Bubbalicious at the Westin! The poor communication and lack of information will be a feature of my review. I've noticed a few comments on TA which say don't bother with Emails or WhatsApp. Phone up. Check In. We arrived at 9.30pm and this process was really poor. They gave us no real information (apart from scan this.... Its the e-butler!). We'd travelled for 10 hours and no one asked if we were hungry and wanted to use our evening evening meal credit. We had previously asked to stay in or near Villa 12 again and they actually put us in Villa 26, which could not have been any further away! We asked if we could pay to upgrade and were told no. We are full. The hotel was not even close to being full and when we went on the website it would have let us have book any room we wanted, so we were a bit confused about this. Hotel Grounds Simply outstanding!! Abra and buggy staff were amazing. Room Huge for 3 of us. Plenty of bottled water, coffee machine and we overlooked the lagoon. One of the reasons we booked here was the evening drinks in the courtyard. We like pre dinner drinks and chatting to other travellers. We weren't told that the 6-8 time had changed to 5-7. This has a big impact as people don't tend to use this facility anymore. They tend to get drinks in their room as get ready to go for dinner. This is a real shame, as in the past it was a very social gathering where you got to know other guests and your butler. The change to an E-butler hasn't helped here. One one evening we sat around for 20 minutes wondering how do we get a drink? Do we help ourselves? Do we order on the app? Again, nothing explained. I think they have 1 person covering 2 or 3 villas (which is 27 rooms). A few years ago it was one person per villa so it was a much more personal experience. Times change and technology must be embraced, but just tells us!! I think the problem was made worse by the fact that the hotel was so quiet. Quite rightly, Jumeriah don't want to pay staff to just sit around. However, the prices are going up. We did complain about this and eventually spoke to a duty manager. In fairness they were brilliant in addressing our issues, but it could have been easily avoided. I can't stress enough how fantastic management were in responding to our issues! Pools and beach Stunning!! There is no better view in Dubai. Restaurants Breakfast was very good in the buffet and French Riviera. In previous visits you could have breakfast in any of the Jumeriah hotels. You can't anymore. No one mentioned this. We were on the half board options with lots of restaurants to choice from. We ate at the the Hide, Zheng He, Arboretum buffet, the pool bar and the Dhow and Anchor at JBH. All were brilliant apart from the Hide. This is a 'high end' steakhouse and the half Board option was not explained very well and we ended up with a £100+ bill just to use the half board menu. Our chicken took 70 minutes because it apparently needed to rest! I think they just forgot about us. Wild Wadi Brilliant as usual with plenty of buggy's available. The staff operating the buggy's and Abra's are a real strong point of the hotel. Summary A stunning hotel in a prime location, with beaches, water park and the Madinat Souk. Brilliant staff, but the changes that Jumeriah are making aren't being communicated and it caused us a lot of issues when you're paying nearly £1k a night. 10 visits to Jumeriah properties but sadly its time for a change.
Simply wonderful!
A little late writing my review however our second visit was just wonderful. Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. Food throughout Madinat is exquisite and the staff our wonderful. DAM is our preferred place to stay, the new style rooms are gorgeous & the butlers are amazing. Can’t wait to return!
Great Holiday
Great Hoilday Special thank you to Alamin and Mujab at pool area really looked after my family 10/10 and a very big thank you to Mr Abbos for looking after me and my family
Another Magical Stay in the Jewel Of Dubai
This was our 4th stay with Jumeriah and our 3rd at Dar Al Masyaf, Once again the complex exceeded our expectations. Before I review I think its important to echo other comments about changes over the years to 'trim the fat' and I would agree you probably get less for your money than you did 10 years ago but the resort is a business and we accept the hotel has had to adapt to the ever growing competition. We arrived on an overnight flight arriving at around 10am. There was a bit of a wait to check in and the process did feel a little tedious and long winded but never the less we managed to get an early check into one the two rooms which was great as my boy needed a sleep and so did my wife. I had a few issues with my last stay (minor but needed to be addressed) and prior to arriving Marycris had spoken to me about an upgrade and we had pre agreed a room lagoon view in villa 13. This was upheld when we arrived and the room was everything we needed. Our son sleeps VERY well from 7-7 daily so after our evening meal we would spend our evenings on the balcony with wine and the sounds of Pai Thai just across the water. We loved the noise and we felt like we was apart of the restaurant every evening. We used the Kids Club 3 out of the 7 days and we used the in-house babysitting service 3 nights so our boy could sleep in peace and we could eat in peace. A massive shout out to Dolly who looked after our son the nights we ate out (in the hotel) and Franz who kept Joshua entertained in the dat at kids club. The resort is 20 years old this year and is immaculate, there is not a leaf out of place. The grounds team work tiresley and their hard work is visible throughout the resort. The newly refurbished Villas have a lovey fresh clean and crisp feel, more modern than previous but keeping their 1001 Arabian nights charm. House keeping was on it every day and if there was ever an issue it was sorted straight away. The Villa butler is a bit of a scam to be honest, you never see them, only for the evening drinks and to be fair our villa butler was fantastic with the evening drinks, we would call her from the room and she would bring them to our balcony every evening. She new our order and it appeared each evening. She was fantastic with our son and made our stay extra special. I'm so sorry I missed her name but the young lady in Villa 13. You rocked! The wasp E Butler is probably the best thing about the resort, it makes it so easy to book meals and sort issues. A great service! We switched breakfast each day between French Reveria and the Main Buffet. BOTH are outstanding, there is less on offer down at French Rivera but the mains are prepared fresh and you can help yourself to a smaller selection inside. For Dinner we ate at : Zheng He's (Mina Salam) Al Nafoorah (Al Qsar) Shimmers (Mina Salam) Tortuga (Madinat) Tortuga (Mina Salam) (Twice) !! Al Qsar Buffet (for dinner) All of these are 'included' in the Half Board Dine Around and the food is fantastic. The stand out is Shimmers (extra 180 and PP) the food and the setting are out of this world, it had a great DJ and a younger modern feel, it was our fave and the Lamb Shoulder carved at the table. WOW The pools were cold and we had a lot of wind in the week we were there but this didn't impede our stay. Wild Wadi was open and we used it a few times but the was so so dam cold! The stand out in this hotel are the staff, from the moment you arrive to the butlers, the bugger drivers, the abra boat guys, the life guards the pool staff just everyone goes above and beyond exceptions to make you feel special. We find it hard to fault and we can't wait to return next year. Top Tips! Floor 24, well worth a visit for a cocktail, views are amazing. The Under 4's kids eat free is just Wonderfull, 3 courses for lunch or dinner or both!, all included. Evern the private Villa pools. I had fish and chips, apple juice and chocolate brownie all brought to our sun loungers for my son. This is so good and really made our dinner plans easier knowing Josh was fed at a reasonable hour. Phone your Buttler for drinks, it's much quicker than hanging around in the maglis!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
