What I like about this place is the service and the ambiance. However, the food while fairly priced could be warmer. The steak and fries tasted good with the right texture and seasoning, just that the steak being already precut got cold very fast. They do have tasty dessert and fine wines to match the steaks.

I'd been wanting to check out J's Steak Frites ever since it opened, mostly because I just love its gimmick of literally only serving steak frites. (The only thing you're asked is how you want your steak cooked, which is awesome.) We showed up minutes after it opened on a recent weekday and the place was already half full (and completely packed by the time we finished). The first course is a simple salad with candied walnuts and it's nothing mind-blowing but it's tasty. And why not start with some greens before digging into the meat and potatoes? I'd requested my steak cooked medium rare, and it was indeed cooked perfectly. This is one amazing steak. Almost every mouthful was so tender and delicious, and the seasoning was right on point. There were a couple of bites with inedible fatty pieces, but mostly I enjoyed the heck out of this meal. (The fries were great, too.) I was pretty full but I couldn't resist trying their creme caramel for dessert and it was also terrific. Super creamy and loaded with burnt-caramel sauce, I pretty much inhaled this concoction. (I tried a couple of the joint's cocktails as well, and they were fine but nothing that knocked my socks off.) J's Steak Frites isn't exactly cheap but I'd say it's worth it.
This place was solid but nothing crazy special.
It's a pris fixe menu of salad, steak and fries. The salad sucked, in my opinion. Limp lettuce, lacking flavour. The steak was tasty and nicely seasoned but had a bit too much gristly fat for my taste. The butter sauce was nice. The fries were awesome! Best when eaten piping hot. If yours get cold, don't be shy about asking for some hot fresh ones, seeing as they're unlimited. The service was lovely; the atmosphere was alight. Glad I tried this place but I don't think I'll be rushing back.

J's has a great, simple concept that works well - choose how you like your steak and they handle the rest. They start you off with some bread and butter, a spinach salad, and then comes the steak as well as the unlimited fries. Every bite was very good - they know what they're good at, and they execute it well. The fries are just like McDonalds fries, and the steak comes with a tarragon cream sauce that was pretty good too. For dessert we tried the oreo cake and strawberry shortcake which were both very solid - they make all their pastries in house. Lastly, the service was excellent! They were super attentive and came around often with piping hot fries, which apparently someone managed to eat 12 plates of once. Overall, J's was all around very solid and it's well worth trying!

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
