Visiting from out of town & Johnny's Italian Steak house
Visiting from out of town & Johnny's Italian Steak house came highly recommended for awesome food & great service. 6:15 reservation on a Friday night - 6 in our party. Restaurant was lovely & we were greeted warmly. Ordered a bottle of wine & the wrong bottle was brought out - waitress first insisted it was what we ordered, but then admitted they didn't have the wine we ordered. After choosing another bottle & waiting, another server came out & advised that they didn't have that wine either!! 3rd time was a charm & we finally got wine! About half of the bread on the table was rock hard - stale or overcooked-- either way disappointing. Waitress ready to take food order, but when asked about specials said "be right back" -- several minutes later comes back with a water pitcher to fill glasses & STILL doesn't know what the special is!! Again took 3 tries, but we finally learned the special & placed our order for appetizers, salads & entrees. Salads came out fairly quick, but before appetizers-- and one app ordered was never served! Then we waited almost an hour for entrees. No one checked on us during this time -- and no apologies were made for the delay. Salads & apps were very good. Entrees, when they finally arrived were just ok. Filet Oscar was over-salted & served with 2 tiny pieces of asparagus. Steaks were cooked as ordered, but requested demi-glaze was forgotten. The locals with us said they had never had such poor service here. When waitress finally appeared again & began clearing the table, we had to ask about desserts & she hurriedly rattled off the selections, half of which we couldn't hear, as she faced away from us dealing with the dishes! Dessert was just ok & when served, a handful of silverware was just dumped in the middle of the table for us to pass around. Limoncello cake, while huge & tasted ok, was dry. As a final insult when we received the check, a 25% gratuity was added! 25%! Did not recall seeing this anywhere on the menu & I understand the custom of adding gratuity for large parties, 15%, 18% - even 20%... but 25% for poor service? That's just crazy! Probably wouldn't have taken the time to write a bad review if not for that 25%. Spent close to $100 per person & this was definitely NOT the fine dining experience we had expected!!

BIG disappointment !!Called ahead to request a private room for 8 people so that my 95 year old father with a hearing disability would be able to participate in his birthday celebration. When we arrived the maître d' informed us he was not going to honor our request because his servers would have to work too hard. Once we were seated and the appetizers and bottles of wine were served the seafood dishes came out undercooked/raw. Scallops in a bowl of what looked and tasted like cream of rice soup with raw flour. The dish was described as scallops with arugula risotto. There was no arugula in the dish at all. Tasteless undercooked poached shrimp on a salad. Everyone who ordered steaks said they were tough and tasted like a bad cut of meat. My dad couldn't even stick a fork into his steak. No one wanted to ruin the birthday dinner so only two people sent their dishes back and receive another meal just as bad as the first. After two tries we had lost our appetite. Do yourself a favor and skip this severely overpriced and tasteless restaurant food.
Be the first to ReplyPainfully subpar food.
We had a group of 12 and the the server was fantastic. She was attentive and offered to take several items off the bill when we voiced our disappointment in the quality of the cooking.
Be the first to ReplyThe pasta dish was awful! Over cooked.
The food was not that great, I don't believe there was a Chef working. Poor Quality of food.

We've been going to another restaurant on the other side of the river for most occasions, but we decided to go to Johnny's for New Year's Eve dinner. The wait staff was excellent. I got the Shiitake Steak Risotto, which was pretty good. My wife got the 9oz New York Strip and a baked potato. Her steak had more gristle than John Wayne's taint and had to send it back for more cook time but it was still too red (she ordered it well with no pink). Being the nice people we are, we mentioned it to the waitress and she took 1/2 off since my wife had eaten some of it even though she did not enjoy it. ClassicWhen leaving the restaurant we rode in the elevator with another couple and they had almost the exact same experience. The lady's steak was terrible but the gentleman ordered a pasta dish and it was good. Needless to say, we won't be back. We'll stick with one of the places in Iowa from now on.

The bread on offer in the bread basket is very good but the meal and experience goes downhill from there. At best the food is average and so if there was excellent service, a review could possibly creep to three stars. While our server was nice, the service was extremely slow. It took more than 90 minutes from the time we sat for our entrees to arrive (we didn't even order apps). To add insult to the injury, the food was room temperature when it arrived at the table. On a positive, the location is great and the atmosphere was enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyOverall this food is excellent.
The dress code is casual, even though the prices would suggest people should dress up a little. The stuffed mushrooms were "okay," (7/10) in my opinion. The cheese wasn't entirely melted, so it felt like it overpowered everything else. The beef Wellington (8/10) was good, but on the saltier side. The Oscar filet (9/10) was good! The sauce was tasty to eat with potatoes, the crab cake was good, but the steak and sauce combination was also on the saltier side. I would order this again though. The crème brûlée was good (8/10) but not the best I've ever had. The drinks were strong and good, but I wish they had a variety of cocktails on the menu and not just martinis. The service was quick, easy to make a reservation for, and we felt well taken care of. The salads (not pictured) were good. The ranch is homemade and flavorful and the Caesar salad was tasty. Overall a nice place to dine at if you want a $150 dinner for two.

Service is sub par, food is so-so and the over all experience is not even close to what they want to charge. Just bad.
Be the first to ReplyOur meal was delicious with fantastic service.
Should have remembered the servers name but she got a big tip.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful warm greeting on arrival.
Our waitress was late to work. Once she arrived, we ordered cocktails. They were perfect. We ordered our entrees and wine. Our salads were served. Upon finishing, we had to ask someone to clear our table. Entrees arrived. Steaks were great. Salmon was rarest. Wine didn't arrive. Our service was marginal. Sides were tepid. We had to ask about our wines. They arrived after we had finished the main course. Not again.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing experience at this restaurant tonight
Very disappointing experience at this restaurant tonight seemingly due to racism. My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was not full. We were seated right beside (in arms length) of the bussing station. We were the only customers seated in that section. We asked to be seated by the window in a nicer area and were told by the waitress that she would need to ask a manager. The manager came over and said he had no where to move us despite the large number of empty tables. After a few minutes we decided to leave. The manager seemed okay with us leaving. There were no other African American patrons in the restaurant and everyone else was Caucasian including the waitress and the manager. I would not recommend this restaurant to any racial minority.
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere is stuffy and upclass, but the food is worse
The atmosphere is stuffy and upclass, but the food is worse than Applebee's. When my husband and I went here, I was in the midst of a salmon obsession. I was trying it from many different establishments. He ordered a steak. This was by far the least flavorful salmon I tried. I could tell the fish was okay quality, but it was bland and under-seasoned. My husband felt the same way about his steak. If it was cheaper, I would have been okay with the food, but not thrilled. For the extensive price, I was extremely underwhelmed. I would never come back here because I can get the same salmon with better seasoning at pretty much anywhere that serves salmon.
Be the first to ReplyJohnny's wants to be a nice steakhouse but misses the mark.
... Bartender drinking out of a styrofoam cup while taking a food order (2 other staff drinking out of cups while walking around the front of the house), the main course delivered with the side salad, and a child of a working staff member running around the restaurant and behind the bar. Food was good but if you're going to charge a premium; ambiance and service matter.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was fabulous.
The service was great! And we loved the atmosphere! We will return.
Be the first to ReplyWent on New Years Eve for dinner.
Server was awesome, but the kitchen was so slow. Appetizers were great! But, if your name has steakhouse in it, you need to bring it! Medium Ribeye was tough as a shoe and the veggies were basically raw. We had a 7:45 reservation for 4 and couldn't got out until 10:15, which wouldn't have been bad, but they had the slowest drink service I've ever seen, even on New Year's Eve. Had to go to the bar to get drinks for our table. In 2 1/2 hours our table was checked on three times. I won't be going back.
Be the first to ReplyI live Johnny's! The filet Oscar is amazing.
Their ranch dressing tastes homemade and is delicious.

Sat at the bar with a good friend, enjoying fried ravioli, sausage bread, meatballs and a couple of cocktails. Several Christmas parties were being celebrated, and the bartender never skipped a beat to serve everybody at the bar.
Be the first to ReplyOne of our best experience we ever had.
Great steak and side dishes. The service was extraordinary! We'll come definitely again and we can recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for a favorite restaurant through the past
This review is for a favorite restaurant through the past few years. Johnny's is a small franchise that presents tasty cuisine in a well designed restaurant.. classy. We can go to Peoria, Il or Moline, Il to enjoy this fine establishment.. But.. we will choose Moline anytime over Peoria..(Ate in Peoria 3 weeks ago)..The ambiance is better, the wait staff is better trained ( a shout out to Spencer, excellent waiter especially when juggling a lot of tables).. the drinks are better served.. they have expresso, a menu filled with tasty eats. We were there enjoying lunch.. I always have pasta and hubby had meatloaf. If you like upscale restaurants with all the good feels and delicious food with a bar that can shake a good drink or suggest a good wine to complement your meal from pasta dishes to steak to a variety of seafood, this restaurant is for you..
Be the first to ReplyI didn't know if Moline would have a good restaurant option
I didn't know if Moline would have a good restaurant option as the streets of this town were almost completely deserted. My hotel recommended Johnny's and, wow, was this an unexpected delight. Sherry, scallops, romaine wedge, lobster Mac & Cheese, and cedar plank salmon was a meal I desperately needed after a ten hour drive.I have no complaints. It was all so good and Blake, the bartender, was a good host. It's easy to write off towns like Moline that have seen better days. If you do, though, you will miss what was, for me, the best meal I've had in months.
Be the first to ReplyFood was just ok.
.. overcrowded seating area. They have a martini list, but ran out of martini glasses and brought them in rocks glasses. Service was fine, but not personable/friendly. Frozen apps for food, undercooked steak, over priced for quality.
Be the first to ReplyJohnnies was an old favorite, so we were looking forward to
Johnnies was an old favorite, so we were looking forward to it. WHAT happened? No enthusiasm. No energy. Depressing. The menu has shrunk, old favorites gone. We ordered two different pasta dishes and some calamari: all bland at best. Service was mediocre. No one inquired about how we liked our food. Less that clean environment. So disappointed. Would have been happier with a burger and beer at a bar. Likely will not go back.
Be the first to ReplyHad been thinking about trying this restaurant for date
Had been thinking about trying this restaurant for date night for awhile, it's a little farther so we waited, however, made it out this weekend, with high expectations. Sooo disappointed ...the food did not match the price at all. Food didn't taste seasoned, and don't make the mistake of asking for medium, unless you actually want rare. We had the ribeye and fillet mignon. Both left disappointed. We have had all ranges of restaurants. Kaminski brothers chop house in Wisconsin, to Texas roadhouse. Both were better I'm sad to say. The atmosphere was nice. Waiter even brought what he "thought" my husband wanted as a drink rather than what he asked for.
