Delicious small plates, great Sangria!
Delicious small plates. We tried their Goat farmer Manchego and their Jamon Iberico de Bellota. As fine as the best we had in Spain. Their patatas bravas are outstanding. Also they have a fried eggplant dish that I haven’t seen at other tapas restaurants but will always be something we order. Can’t wait to go back. Also a great take on Cava Sangria. An excellent culinary experience that doesn’t break the budget.

Amazing family experience in this beautiful place. Food was delicious with Spanish flavors like if you are there. And the atmosphere and attention is with the highest standards.

Most amazing food and experience. Favorite dishes were tuna tartare cones, brussel sprout salad, ceviche scallops, mackerel with potatoes and rabbit. My son enjoyed the the sangria as well. This

We like the "tapas experience" at Jaleo. These dishes are not huge, so we enjoy ordering several and sharing. On this occasion, we appreciated a 3-cheese board ($25) which includes generous portions of interesting cheeses accompanied by a chef's choice of sweet marmalade(s). Our warm brussels sprout salad ($13) was a crunchy mix with several fruits. And our Manchego cheese salad with fennel ($14) was a pleasure, too. Both salads were generously portioned. We ordered two more tapas to share (each $14). Delicious fresh-raspberry sorbet was a palate-cleansing conclusion. Service on this occasion was excellent. Our server did not rush us to order from the extensive (and a little complicated) menu, and staged our food also not to rush us through our intentionally-relaxed meal. We found a crisp white Spanish wine we loved (Ziaboga $13/glass). On arrival, we were greeted warmly and our reservation was acknowledged immediately. The ambiance at Jaleo is definitely not "relaxed." This is a large, loud, busy place, and the ambiance is more like a train station than a dining room. But we come for the quality and variety of the food, not anticipating a quiet meal.

Our first visit to Jaleo lived up to every expectation we had. We splurged on the Experience tasting menu with wine pairings and were delighted with every dish. It was almost too much, but we polished off the dessert course anyway. Great food and wine, wonderful ambience, exceptional values throughout the menu, and top-notch hospitality -especially our server, Gloria, who made really helpful suggestions but also made us feel completely at home. She was a standout of an already amazing experience!
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, great food
I came here with a couple friends and the atmosphere was so fun. We got the Jalen experience for the table and i requested no mushrooms or fish for our choices which they upheld wonderfully. We had so many dishes i can’t remember them all but i loved the bacon wrapped dates, the potatoes, the goat cheese filled peppers, and the hangar steak would have been excellent if it weren’t a bit overcooked. Table was not a huge fan of a chicken fritter like dish we had, tasted like deep fried chicken and dumplings. The flan was delicious but the chocolate mouse was a bit rich. They also put olive oil over the top of it and it was overpowering. Wine was delicious and staff was very attentive. Food came out so quickly that we had to have a dish for the foods we hadn’t yet finished to continue the momentum but it was so fun! Would definitely eat here again!

Excellent small plate selection, something for just about every palate. The food is as well-prepared as one would expect from a Jose Andres restaurant. Service was great on one visit but lacking the second time we went, which diminished the overall experience.

This was our second visit -- on Valentine's Day no less. Our service was pretty good, considering it was a holiday and the restaurant was packed. We got the tasting menu. Interesting and diverse offerings. From caviar to a liquid olive to steak. Our server, Ellie, was sweet and attentive. Although it is in a "touristy" spot (Disney Springs), it does not affect the quality of the food. Plus you can walk off a few calories after dinner.

We met a friend for lunch and without a reservation I think we would have been in for a long wait - the place was pumpin'. We opted for the lunch special which was $26 for three tapas and a dessert. Excellent value. Great vibe and service.

I went with my coworkers for lunch one day. It was absolutely delicious. I was stationed in Spain for 3 years. So the food is familiar. I would go back again.

Be the first to ReplyFood has gone from great to bad
I have been to jaleo multiple times but this was the first time since the pandemic. The food used to be creative with vibrant and distinct tastes. Todays meal was completely tasteless and some of the dishes were actually awful. I will not be returning.

Loved loved loved the house recipe of margarita with salty foam, my favorite margarita so far. Bartender was welcoming and fun.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic meal
What a fantastic meal! We went with the $65 tasting menu, and it was worth every penny. We were served with 7 courses (most of them included two different dishes), so there was a lot of food. Everything was so tasty and a treat to the eye. Service was excellent - quick and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous “Brunch”
Early pre-game meal with family was wonderful. Added bonus was a very detailed menu for people with food allergies. It made ordering so much more pleasant. No asking “do you think I can eat this?” The waiter was extremely helpful in choosing from all the wonderful offerings.

Olé to Chef Jose Andres and all the Jaleo family!! Sangria hour was a fantastic experience. Excellent selection of wines. Our tapas were just amazing. Pan tomate, jamon and croquetas de pollo were just delicious. Service was great as well as the ambiance. The decoration is just amazing with art everywhere. A must-visit restaurant in DC.

Four of us had lunch & everyone was happy. Two of us had the fixed price lunch. We had three choices (of three options each) and also a dessert choice. The potato salad with tuna was fabulous and almost too big of a portion, the fried bacon-wrapped dates with a dipping sauce were heavenly, and the shrimp sauteed with garlic was really good too. The flan for dessert was also very good. Everyone left full & happy.
Be the first to ReplySidewalk dining with a not so pleasant surprise.
The food was good, not outstanding. And, the sangria was disappointing. The most unpleasant thing was the large rat running for our table as we sat on the sidewalk for al fresco dining.
Be the first to ReplyA unique gem!
This is one of those unique places where you can enjoy outstanding dishes with impeccable table service. We ordered five different tapas, and they were all fantastic, combining unique flavors with well-presented dishes. The service was outstanding, making our visit one to never forget.
Be the first to ReplyAverage Food and Overrated
I'm a bit surprised by the high reviews for this restaurant as I found the food quite average. We ordered 5-6 tapas such as the patatas bravas, Pollo con pisto y salsa de ajillo, Gambas al ajillo and Carne asada con piquillos which tasted nice but nothing out of the ordinary. The worst though was the Rossejat - the paella which had vermicelli instead of rice and was dry and flavourless. The service was impeccable and the decor though inventive bordered on garish.

Jaleo had been one of our pre-theater choices when did a lot of theater in the area. Now, we only go to the Penn Quarter occasionally, so it was wonderful to find that Jaleo is still at the top of its game. The beet-tomato gazpacho is to die for as is the fisherman's soup. The salmon tartare and trout roe cone is amazing. The shrimp-garlic sautéed is garlic-lovers heaven. Order anything -- you'll love it. The service flagged a touch, but with an event at the Capital Center, being Saturday, and labor shortages, it's understandable -- no points off.

We had the best meal!!!!!
Our first meal in DC we made reservations for Jaleo.
We really had an incredible meal. The service was great, the timing of our tapas was perfect.
Get the pan con tomate. Such a simple item but WOW! I can’t wait to try to make this at home. He takes such simple ingredients and the results are amazing. Other items we had were the spinach with pine nuts, raisins and apples, gazpacho and the shrimp. All were fantastic.
The drinks were creative, we got a half pitcher of sangria, yum!!!
Fantastic. Fantastic! Fantastic!!!
We came here for lunch with friends from out of town. Expectations were high but the place exceeded them anyway. It was technically tapas but the size was quite large.
Pulpo was out of this world. Crab salad. Salmon caviar cone. Beets gazpacho. Rabbit confit. And unforgettable dessert. WOW!!!!!!
Michelin ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great for vegans
Me and my friend are vegan and we did not go hungry! We had the papas bravas without aioli, the roasted cauliflower and the mushrooms. Everyone was amazing and the service was great - from the host to the server. Highly recommend

Made a reservation online. Had to wait a little after our reservation but that was ok. It was packed but we were able to find a spot at the bar. We enjoyed some sangria while we waited for our table. Our food was delicious. I would definitely eat here again!
