Food was really good.
It gives a fine dining ambiance and service that the area needs. Would absolutely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyJaja is a perfect spot for an intimate dinner for a date
Jaja is a perfect spot for an intimate dinner for a date and it's also a great restaurant to come hangout with friends or family. I visited for the first time in mid-March 2024 with some of my friends. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday (a late celebration). I already can't wait to return again. AMBIANCE -- I love the decor inside -- the sofas, cute little lambs, and flowers on the ceiling really elevates a dinner experience. Lighting is somewhat dim but nice. SERVICE -- Fantastic. Once we all entered from the elevator in the lobby, we were greeted and seated towards the back area. I believe a friend made reservations for us 5. The complimentary drink was a nice touch to the overall great service. DRINKS -- Before our food came out, we were given a complimentary drink called kava which to me tasted similar to a white wine. I hardly drink alcohol so I don't know what kava is. I did glace at the cocktail menu because most of my friends got a drink and Jaja certainly has a great selection of cocktails. DINNER -- There are lots of options to choose from on their menu. I had their LAMB ALBONDIGAS ($20) which comes with 5 thick pieces of lamb meatballs in a bed of cucumber yogurt with lemon parsley oil drizzled over the yogurt. The lamb and 'nduja sausage meatballs were absolutely delicious and I was so full after eating it. The meatballs were topped with a tiny piece of red pepper. The cucumber yogurt had a nice refreshing taste which complimented well with the meatballs. While I thought that there was too much yogurt in the dish, it brought a nice cool flavour to the whole dish. All my friends enjoyed their food too. I think my friend Sabrina got the LAMB LOLLIPOPS SCOTTADITO ($36) which come with four grilled lamb ribs, english pea purée, smoked yogurt, cherry mostarda, mint oil. It looked so tasty that I should have asked to try a piece. My friend Leslie ordered the 12OZ RED SNAPPER ($45) which is a fish dish in a bed of peppers/salsa. While I've just described alot of meat, for the vegetarians, I did notice some appetiser dishes in the cool and warm menu such as the PERI-PERI CAULIFLOWER BOUQUET ($13), POTATO DA DELFINA ($10) - "thinly-shaved potatoes, layered and crisped, tossed with chipotle butter", BUTTERNUT SQUASH HUMMUS ($14) which is made out of chickpeas, and so much more. We ended dinner with the birthday lady enjoying a CHEESECAKE($14) which I tried about 2 bites from without getting the cream and it was yummy but a bit too sweet for me. I recommend Jaja for dinner and I can't wait to try some dishes from their brunch menu. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 19/150 total reviews in 2024 - 669 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 15 April 2024
Be the first to ReplyJaja is a great spot to try in Cleveland for a nice dinner.
A great option with more fun choices than the traditional steakhouse. All of the apps here are great, especially the vegetarian ones. Cocktails and mains are also great. Service is always attentive. Inside has a cool tropical theme which is a great touch too.

Jaja is gorgeous, you take the elevator to the second floor and you step into a lush tropical botanical garden space with a ceiling of windows and soft mauve seating. The menu is set up for sharing and divided into cool, warm, meat, grilled fish, etc. and they suggested 4-5 plates for our party of two. Our server told us that each dish would be brought out when it was ready, not necessarily all at once. We started with butternut squash hummus (cool) which was sweet and a little bland (needed salt), although when we ate it with the charred naan, that livened it up. We enjoyed the chanterelle mushrooms with polenta (recommended by our server) from the warm section and it was creamy and the mushrooms were earthy and chewy. The lemon zest added a nice bright touch. The Brussels agrodolce were perfectly roasted, tender, lightly sweet and charred. Up to this point the dishes were nicely paced but here's where the fault in the menu setup shows. We didn't want to entirely finish these dishes as we were waiting for the wagyu. So the warm dishes started to get cold and after about 10 minutes we asked the server about the steak. She came back with some complimentary cava and said since we ordered medium, it was still in process. After another ten minutes she dropped off the wagyu and we could immediately see it was cooked well. We told her it was cooked well, not medium and she was cavalier about it, asked if we wanted it redone. At this point, we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes so we declined. This kinda killed the mood for dessert. Overall, Jaja is a gorgeous setting, and we enjoyed our dishes. If the steak had been cooked correctly this would have been 5 stars. Instead 3.5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyJaja is an absolute must-visit! Its stunning ambiance
Jaja is an absolute must-visit! Its stunning ambiance bathes you in beauty, setting the stage for an irresistibly good vibe that you'll want to immerse yourself in time and again. The culinary experience is consistently spectacular, with every dish leaving a memorable impression. Their cocktails are equally outstanding, with the cold brew cocktail standing out as a personal favorite of mine--one of the best drinks I've ever savored. Due to the intimate setting, with just 4-6 bar seats available, I strongly recommend making a reservation. Trust me, you won't want to miss the unique charm and exquisite offerings of Jaja.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was very good, the experience was not.
Took my wife here to celebrate our wedding anniversary (noted this on the reservation as well). After checking their website to see a nice windowed ceiling, I went to book the "patio" which is advertised as heated / ready for all seasons - but turns out, I was seeing pictures of the dining room... When we got there, we asked the hostess and our waitress if we could move to the dining room, and they said no, so we sat on the patio. The heaters were actually broken in 35 degree weather, it was very cold and uncomfortable. Another table of four showed up shortly after us and complained to the manager / asked for a discount (which I wouldn't do on a date), and they were moved inside... so, wouldn't recommend this place for any special occasions / expect good treatment. My wife was upset after our anniversary dinner because of a problem they could have solved for us. Also the patio sucks in winter, not "annual" as advertised. Again, the food was good, but the steak did take over an hour.
Be the first to ReplyWe came for dinner to celebrate a friends birthday.
It was our first time and will most likely be our last. Our waiter described the plates as shareable which made sense if all you were supposed to share was a bite otherwise some of the portion sizes were more like appetizers for 1. We sent back several dishes, charred Brussel Sprouts had no char, Lobster dish was served cold if it was supposed to be the waiter never said it was. They were out of several dishes, so the menu was limited. Best thing about it was the ambiance, Scallops and bread but that was it. For the price this was a waste of an experience.

Be the first to ReplyI actually want to give this place 4 stars, but I think.
..I know, this was some of the best service I've ever received at a restaurant, therefore deserves 5 stars. Shout out to our server Derek A for being an A+++ person and server! Jaja is interesting because the things it does right are better than anywhere in Cleveland. The architecture and design aesthetic really create a special setting to share a meal. The music is loud enough to encourage talking over it, but you don't have to shout and have difficulty hearing each other. And like I said before, their FOH team was kind and professional throughout the whole evening. In regard to operations, I know it's less than a year old, but it needs some improvement before things get slammed in the spring. We got there for an 8:30 reservation and they didn't have a table available for us until 8:50. Again, the staff was very kind, but not a great start. The cocktail I had tasted a little watered down. Looked very pretty, but overall I switched to wine after the first cocktail. Food was more hit than miss, but the miss was big for me at least. Hits: Scallops - seared perfectly, great size and texture Potatoes - delicious with the chipotle butter Prosciutto wrapped dates - my wife loved them Squash burrata - my wife loved it Pork belly - deceivingly small serving that fills you up quickly when you have a lot of other things to eat. Awesome flavor burst and melt in your mouth texture. Miss: Boneless Ribeye - asked for medium rare and there was hardly any pink at all, even in the center of the steak. Derek was kind enough to confirm, and the flavor was still pretty good. The texture and chewiness were not as enjoyable. It was just unfortunate to pay so much at a place that calls itself a steakhouse and not have the steak cooked to perfection. Portion size was great. Overall - definitely still a great experience if you have never been here yet. It wouldn't be my personal first choice to visit again, but if someone else suggested it, I would be more than happy to go again. Thank you and thank you Derek!
Be the first to ReplyReally fun cocktail and food menu.
This is a great place for people who like lots of little plates versus ordering a traditional meal with a side. We had a great time trying foods we typically wouldn't order and everything match the description. Staff was pretty knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made recommendations. I was surprised at the speed at which the plates came out. We ordered seven items and had all of our courses brought out within 30 minutes total. Not a bad thing but I was expecting a longer more leisure dining experience, but overall the food was good!! While this is probably a more expensive restaurant in the area, I didn't feel like anything was overpriced, and I felt like the portion sizes made sense for the items ordered. Cocktails were small for their glass size. The only major food issue was the snickerdoodle crème brûlée. The texture seemed like it must've been prepped away in advance. The top wasn't hard sugar like you would expect to find, and the custard part didn't seem be set correctly. Overall it seemed to be made in advance, refrigerated and not fired to order. Taste was great though!!!

Wonderful spot on Ohio city! It's a small space but very cozy. Definitely make a reservation! We had to make ours a few weeks in advance for a Saturday night.Started off with complimentary champagne which was a nice touch and some delicious cocktails! I tried the she only wears green, and it was subtly sweet and refreshing. The food is served tapas style with the dishes ranging in size. The menu is vegetarian friendly. We tried the eggplant dip, leeks and paparadelle. The eggplant dip with the charred bread was probably my favorite dish but everything was tasty and enough food between 3 people. I though the paparadelle could have used some more mushroom flavor, but overall was tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful about menu items. A little pricey but a great spot for a special occasion/dinner. I will def be back to try brunch!
Be the first to ReplyI cannot express how amazing my experience was at Jaja.
Upon entering I was blown away at how beautiful the venue is. Every time I looked around I saw something different. I was warmly greeted when I arrived and seated to my table very quickly. Our server Mya was outstanding! Her suggestions were so on point, I cannot thank her enough. Now on to the food: I was skeptical because honestly nothing on the menu jumped out at me but I was curious to try this place. Boy was I wrong! I tried the Mushroom Pappardelle and my goodness it was so good I wanted to lick the bowl! My friend got the scallops and I swear I want to go back just for that..delicious! Please don't skip dessert or else you will regret it! This is perfect place for a girls night out or date night. Absolutely five stars!

10 STARS!Upon entering we were greeted by BJ and immediately felt a warm welcome. We took the elevator to the 2nd level where the restaurant is located and were transported into a stunning, vibrant, sexy dining lounge. The decor and full ambiance of the restaurant is gorgeous! We were seated and our server Thomas, was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and helped guide us through while making on point recommendations. Every dish was a new culinary adventure of flavors. We spoke with manager Edie as she checked on our table and enjoyed a genuine conversation together. Nothing but great things to say about Jaja and I cannot wait to visit again!

Stunning ambience and solid cocktails- I was very impressed with the "Leaving You is Bittersweet" made with watermelon juice- delicious and not too sweet. The eggplant appetizer was 10/10. It's basically some small pieces of eggplant on a tomato purée with a glob of yogurt in the middle that tastes like sour cream. It's served with warm pita and it was EXCELLENT. The prosciutto wrapped dates were solid. Don't get the oysters (served warm/hot with tomatoes on top like bruschetta- I wasn't a fan). The meat platter gave various options and was a perfect quantity for a group of 4. Pork was "melt in your mouth". Brat and chorizo were excellent. The hangar and picanha steaks were cut up (easy to share) and both solid- some bites better than others. I'm not sure about the bone marrow- you're supposed to scrape it with a spoon onto the charred bread but there's not much to scrape. The dark chocolate cake dessert was excellent (see all the layers in the photo). Overall thoughts:-This is a nice, fancy-pants restaurant so expect to spend some money. -going with 4 gives the option to try several things (the carne meat platter would be too much for 2 people)-alternate parking option is the lot behind west side market and walk over (2min walk, will cost ~$4)-CLASSY establishment. This place will impress anyone visiting from out of town. Can't wait to go back when the roof is retracted

Absolutely 5 star food, service and ambiance! Wow! We finally had An opportunity to dine at Jaja, and we were not disappointed. The space is absolutely breathtaking. My favorite foodie friend and I started our meal with cocktails. She had the Xpat in Peru which was a mixture of Apple pear brandy, lime juice, honey syrup, passion fruit syrup, Greek yogurt and nutmeg. I had the Starlight Swizzle which was pineapple rum, pineapple juice, lime juice, yellow chartreuse, jiwi syrup valernum and all spice dram. Both drinks were very well made, the flavor profiles, were spot on! We then proceeded to order food. We started with the light hearted salad which consisted of black kale Brussels sprouts pomegranate seeds apples almonds and a lemon tahini dressing. The salad was large enough to share, as a starter, along with the charred flatbread. She ordered the homemade pappardelle pasta with seasonal mushrooms and shaved black truffles. I ordered the scallops with cauliflower gnocchi. Both dishes were perfectly executed. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and generously portioned. The sauce was creamy and delicious. I ordered the scallops at the recommendation of our server, and I'm so glad that I did. The scallops were huge but cooked perfectly on top of charred corn, diced Fresno chilis with a chimichurri basil oil. We finished our meal with dessert, creme brulee and chocolate cake, which were a bit pricey, but definitely large enough to share. Our server, Maia H, was wonderful, she checked on us, offered recommendations and was very warm and welcoming, along With the rest of the staff. Our water glasses were never empty, our empty plates were immediately removed, as we finished our meals. This was the best restaurant experience that I've had in a very long time! I will return!

If you've ever eaten Asian noodles or Ramen, this is the best place to get it at. You may be a little apprehensive before you go in because you're not sure what you're going to eat definitely ask for help the array of flavors cold hot temperature and spice will make your meal amazing.
Be the first to ReplyI have greatly enjoyed both of my visits to Jaja.
It's not an experience or environment that you'd expect to see in Cleveland so it's great to have access to this kind of vibe right in Ohio City. I give five stars all around for the ambiance, decor, food, and service. Love it!My first visit was on a Sunday AM for bunch. There are only six (6) bar seats so my friend and I arrived early to snag a spot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the mimosas as they come with passion fruit and Campari - whew, very good! I also enjoyed the shakshuka and french toast - both were delicious. I also recently went for dinner and five stars yet again! We enjoyed the picana, prawns, brazino, and pappardelle. Can't forget the charred house bread - YUM. Most of all, I'm grateful for BJ who, as manager, makes sure to check on every guest. He is sincere, warm, engaging and brings a beautiful energy to an already wonderful experience. Same goes for Maia, our lovely server, and the bartenders I've encountered as well. I'll be back soon!

Wow! This place complete transported me out of Cleveland in the best way. We made brunch reservations and cannot wait to go back again. The atmosphere is so detailed and unique. The drinks were delicious and the food was even better. The brunch menu only has a few options but the french toast and crab eggs benedict were insane. I cannot wait to go back for dinner another time.

Got a brunch reservation with some friends at Jaja and was very impressed! The food, the drinks, the vibes, all amazing. You walk into the front door and are greeted by a hostess in a very bird themed entry room. You enter an elevator to the top floor, where you walk out into an amazingly well lit dining room (featuring even more taxidermied birds) with a large glass ceiling, some trellised faux plants, and cute velvet furniture. We started off with a delicious mezcal coffee cocktail (Carajillo de Jaja). It had nice coffee notes, perfect for brunch, with a sweet and salty side to it. A really nice start to brunch. I also enjoyed my mimosa, with some more nuanced citrus juices that packed a more special punch than your typical OJ. For my main, I had the crab benedict. The crab was cooked perfectly, very tender with fresh crab flavor. The eggs were poached well with a nice runny yolk, and a rich spiced hollandaise that tied the dish together nicely. The salad offered a balanced brightness to the dish. I'm not much of a sweet brunch kind of guy, but my friends and I agreed the french toast was only fine. A little tough, and maybe nothing special. I also tried a bite of my friends umami omelet, which was packed with mushrooms and was really nice. The prices for brunch here are pretty standard for a nice brunch, making it an accessible way to see Jaja compared to their more pricey dinner menu. Which looks amazing, by the way. Overall, this is a slam dunk brunch spot to take someone you want to impress or just vibe out with some friends. I'm excited to return for brunch again!

We had an awesome meal here! We had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday night. It's a little hidden and easy to miss, and I think that's what they were going for. When you enter the building, there is a host stand where you check in, and when your table is ready they let you enter the elevator to get to the restaurant. You are greeted by another host when you get into the restaurant, and then you are brought to your table. The whole process makes it feel like a very special and exclusive dining experience. The interior is beautiful with lots of greenery and very classy upscale decor. We overheard a couple of walkins when we were waiting to get in, and the host said there are a couple of bar seats, but to get those you have to get to the restaurant right when they open. We were seated at a cozy table for 2 by the bar. The seats are very plush as well! They bring out complimentary cava to you when you area seated which is also a nice touch. For food, we got the giardiniera, the spinach flan, sweet and savory leeks, oysters, pulpo, halibut, prosciutto covered dates, bone marrow, and pork belly, and flatbread. Everything was great! The only dish we would recommend to not get is the bone marrow, 1 bone had lots of marrow, 2 basically had nothing. Our favorites were the spinach flan and the dates. We would definitely come back to try the whole roasted fish as well, that sounds awesome! We couldn't end the night without getting dessert- and we got not 2, but 3 desserts (we're monsters). We got the chocolate cake, creme brulee (special of the night), and the alfajores. The alfajores were tasty, and they came with a hefty scoop of ice cream. One order had 2 cookies, so it was perfect for the 2 of us. I didn't try the chocolate cake, but I am told it was decadent and really good. The creme brulee could've been more bruleed, but the flavor was great, the cinnamon whipped cream on top was a good compliment, and the banana snickerdoodle that came with it was awesome.Overall, we were super impressed with this place, would make a great spot for a date or special occasion. We'll definitely be back, both for dinner and to try out the brunch!
Be the first to ReplyNice location right by the westside market.
Easy parking either across the street at the market or valet. The entrance is a bit hard to find and is on the back side of the Truss building. The dining area is very small and reservations are definitely recommended. I have visited Jaja twice now, once for brunch and once for dinner. We came for brunch and were seated quickly (with a reservation). The waitress was friendly and quickly gave us recommendations and took our order and provided us with some bread. For the next 30 minutes we sat there with the waitress coming by periodically to tell us they were working on our food. They then came to tell us they had run out of ingredients for my order and that they had misremembered our other selection. We understood mistakes happen and were fine with accepting the item they had put in for us by mistake. After another 30 minutes our food finally arrived, and somehow ended up being the original items we ordered despite them telling us they had run out. The food was generously portioned and tasted great. The rest of the experience was a bit confused and disorganized as a result of some miscommunication. After this experience we gave Jaja another chance for dinner. The dinner is served family style and there were plenty of a la carte selections as well as several platters to share. At night the restaurant is dimly lit and has a cool vibe. This time around the food came out promptly and was coursed nicely by our waitress. The cocktails were creative and strong as well. We found the dinner experience to be much more pleasant than our previous brunch experience. Overall I found Jaja to be a nice and trendy new restaurant which could be a good alternative to Amba or Zhug. The service was hit or miss between my two visits, though I hope that is something that will be ironed out over time. One criticism I have for Jaja is the price point is on the higher end. While the decor has captured a cool Instagrammable vibe, I didn't find the food, experience, or location representative of the price point. The prices seemed to fall in line with a nice restaurant in a big city, and I don't see it being worth it considering it's in Cleveland.
