Jacob's Pickles New York Reviews from The Last Year

The food is great and it's in a great location on the upper west side . Last time I was there I had really great service from one of the partners of the business . He was very attentive and gave great service . Thanks

Came here with a party of 7 on a Tuesday mid day and was seated right away. My cousin recommended we share plates since they give large portions and she was not joking. Ordered a fresh squeezed lemonade, chicken and pancakes to share and some of their mac and cheese. Let me just say that their mac and cheese is probably the best I've ever had. I find myself craving it often. It was some of the creamiest, cheesiest, and slightly crispy mac and cheese I've ever had!! I would literally go here over and over again just for that, so please never change the recipe. As for the chicken it had a nice crispy skin and good flavor, the bacon on the pancakes for me was a little overwhelming in flavor so i would probably ask for the pancakes without it next time. Overall a really good spot for some southern/comfort food. You'll definitely leave feeling full.

Quick service and portions are huge!! I got the honey chicken sandwich which was delicious. The poutine is also an excellent app to get to start; massive pile of cheese coated fries.
Food service was good.
Pretty quick. I ordered banana pancakes with chocolate chips this by far pancake. was the worst pancakes that I've had in a long time. They were cold small and overcooked. Hopefully I will have a better time the next time I go back. Please teach the cook how to make proper pancakes. Is all I ask for $30 bucks. I must say the chicken was excellent. That's what made me happy.

Just really disappointing, I wasn't expecting it to look good but I was at least expecting it to taste good. Lack luster flavors, messy presentation, just lacking flavor overall. Biscuits were fine not special, chicken was fine not special, gravy was fine not special. Disappointing.

Server was great, we sat outdoors so I can't speak to the complete vibe but they were quick to seat us which was nice. Food was eh. I can tell they use grease to hide the fact that they over cook their food there was a lot of grease lol.

This was my 4th time here and I made a reservation for Saturday at 4:30. They were able to accommodate that I was an hour early. We were seated in the bar area which was fine since we were early and it was packed. Our waitress came and brought us waters and said she would be back but didn't introduce herself or say anything else. Maybe 10 minutes passes and we're ready to order and I had to make eye contact with her for her to recognize we were ready to order. We place our order and she takes the menus. That wasn't the last time we saw her but the last time she spoke to us until I paid. Someone else brought our food and the person I was with needed syrup for her pancakes and had to ask a bus boy since she didn't check on us or ask how anything was at all. Not even once. No problems with the food it was great. I had the chicken BLT and mac and cheese and the person I was with had the chicken and pancakes. We also tried the sour pickles. We also ordered the seasonal biscuit to go which took at least another 15 minutes. When I needed boxes they were brought but that was about it. I also noticed she didn't seem to pay attention to the other tables around us either. Did she earn her tip? No. Did I still tip her well? Yes. Will I be back? Undecided.
Great food and service!
Decided to visit after a day of exploring the museum. I’d had several recommendations and wasn’t disappointed - this place has set the bar for table service so far on my trip. My server, Charlie, offered plenty of menu recommendations and moved me indoors when the rain became a little too much. I felt looked after. I was warned that the portions were big, and they really are! I tried some pickles, my first fried green tomatoes, and my first biscuits alongside the meatloaf. Delicious. The cocktails are great too. Cosy features and low lighting make it a comfortable place to hang around for a drink or two. I’d highly recommend a visit.
People are correct about the portions.
It's a lot of food. A bit overpriced though for what they provide.

The food was good nothing stood out really but it was a decent bite to eat. Only regret is not trying the mac and cheese. Fried pickles in my opinion were okay at best not a fan of the dough. It was almost a dessert like coating. French fries were 10/10. Burger was heavy but good flavor. I opted for the hot pickles on the side. Although spicy they were tasty too.
Disgusting
I literally can’t understand how anyone thinks this is good food. I got the single Nashville hot chicken biscuit at the outpost in the Moynihan Train Hall and it was the most disgusting sandwich I’d ever eaten. The biscuit had a nasty taste that made it inedible. The pickles also had a peculiar flavor and the Nashville hot was not at all hot. Just disgusting.
Server super nice, food is amazing.
Huge portions. Definitely share! The okra and deviled eggs are incredible... even a friend who didn't like deviled eggs gave it a thumbs up for approval. The inside is cool and Americana, bathrooms are nice but I ate on their heated patio was it was spacious enough etc. definitely recommend and worth trekking uptown for if you live downtown
Must Have Brunch in NYC!
Love this place for brunch when we visit NYC! This was our 2nd time visiting and it did not disappoint. Staff is super friendly and location is nice and quiet for an outdoor brunch with friends. Started off with the biscuits and fixins and the full pickle sampler (all 8 items). Biscuits are delicious and the strawberry preserves are out of this world. Pickle sampler was a hit! Never thought we would finish it all, but we did - pickled carrots were my fave. We enjoyed the Jam Jar and Bloody Mary's - drinks were great and generous size. For brunch we had Nashville Hot Chicken biscuit sandwich, chicken/egg/cheese biscuit sandwich, matzo ball soup and biscuit French toast - everything was fabulous. When they say portion sizes are generous, they mean it! Can't wait to come again on our next visit!
Great fun and food
Just a short walk from our hotel was this fun spot. We had great beer, pickles and tasty entrees. Long tables for sitting but it worked great.
Our server Kevin made our dining experience even better!
Our server Kevin made our dining experience even better! Great drink recommendations, huge portions, and stand out fried chicken. A classic that is worth the hype!

Wonderful meal.
Everything was delicious and reasonably priced considering the portion size. Our server, Kevin was amazing. He made the experience even better. Out of the 2 meals the biscuit was better. I am a picky shrimp and grits person and it was ok. Biscuit was very good. Deviled eggs were off the hook!

Great food and huge servings! We have been here for brunch and lunch and it's always delicious!!
Great place for lunch.
Food was good but not exceptional. Service was good, except for the awkward moment when they brought us the wrong food. Atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. I'd go back.
The food was amazing.
Highly recommend going here. What I can say is if you order an appetizer you won't finish your meal but it is definitely worth it.
Love this place, delicious food and really large portions
Love this place, delicious food and really large portions so much to take home and have the next day. the best soups and sandwiches will definitely be back!
We were looking for a dog-friendly restaurant near Central
We were looking for a dog-friendly restaurant near Central Park, so came here. The outdoor patio is huge as they have tables lined up along the sidewalk past the restaurant. It's all covered with heaters for those chilly days as well, so it's perfect. Between the three of us, we ordered the Midnight Mac & Cheese ($19), Grilled Salmon Salad ($27), and Honey Chicken and Pickles ($19) with a side of Nashville Hot Sauce ($0.50) and substituted the side for Fries (+$3). The salad was a good balance for something healthy, although pretty simple. I liked the dressing, but don't think I'd order this one again. The hot honey chicken was good, but biscuit isn't really my thing and there was so much pickles. I guess this place is called pickles, afterall. The one dish I would actually reorder is the mac as it had a little bit of sausage and jalapeños inside. The cheese sauce is creamy and cheesy. Overall, I like that this spot has outdoor dining and service was great; food was just okay though, nothing too special.
Jacob's Pickles is such a gem! The hot chicken sandwich is
Jacob's Pickles is such a gem! The hot chicken sandwich is a standout, with that perfect crunch and just the right level of spice. And the pickles? They're a crunchy revelation! It's the kind of place that makes you feel right at home, with flavors that are sure to bring a smile to your face. Definitely a must-visit for a comforting, flavor-packed meal. Amazing service and great ambiance.
Huge servings! Food is fabulous.
I prefer sitting outside as inside can be loud sometimes. Service great.
Great Upper Westside Restaurant
Fun spot in UWS. Great energy and friendly staff. Food was delicious and big portions. You can definitely share to try different things. Highly recommend!
Nice home style cooking…plus if you like pickles
Excellent “comfort” food menu, large portions, pickles. Lots to like food wise, nice atmosphere, friendly service. All around a good choice and would highly recommend.
Southern style food in the UWS
Hadn’t reserved on Wednesday afternoon at 6 and the place was buzzing! Got a seat at the bar - our preference where the selection of beers was amazing We were hungry but had read the portions were huge so we skipped appetisers and went straight for mains Meatloaf with mash and vegetables and Chicken on pancakes Both were lovely but too much Service was good and price reasonable at less than $100 including a couple of glasses of wine
Comfort food, big portions, super tasty!
The food is amazing! Real comfort food, huge portions and the flavors are to die for. Only thing I would like to mention is that the music was a bit too loud for me. Was hard to hold a conversation with my table mate. But would definitely come again!
SOUTHERN COOKING AT ITS BEST
Excellent food, but too much butter and fat. The food is really good but it’s way too heavy. You won’t be able to function for a few days after this meal.
Large portions, good food.
The portions are big, and we appreciate that the server warned us about the large portions. All dishes were good, but we could not finish them. Consider ordering to share first if you do not eat too much. There is quite a good selection of local beers for you to enjoy.
Outstanding Food
Wife and I spent 4 days in NYC and this was our favorite meal (we did brunch after visiting Central Park). I had the hot chicken sandwich, and my wife had the biscuits and gravy. The chicken sandwich was hot but not overly hot. Plenty of pickles on top of the sandwich and served with a bowl of grits. The biscuits and sausage gravy had a great sage flavor to them, which is what you want in a good southern sausage gravy. The biscuits are delicious. I'm from the south and have eaten my share of biscuits and I'd put theirs up against anyone's. If you're in the neighborhood, make the stop in for a bite. You won't be disappointed.
Disappointing
I hate to say this, but lack of support from their staff and customer service team, I’m not sure what to do. We ordered for delivery a mere 5 minutes a way in a local bar. An hour later and countless attempts to contact Jacob’s Pickle, we decided to cut short our afternoon of drinking and visit Jacob’s Pickle. We were greeted by the rudest of staff who tried to give us our hour old food. Insisting it was cooked fresh - there was no communication from there. We just stood and assumed our food would be re-served. 10 minutes later a bag was dumped on the counter. It took for us to ask if it was ours, to which the server nodded “yes”. Shocking. We won’t be returning. Further to that I approached staff at “Timeout Market” who are responsible for all the food outlets. They were not interested in helping either. I won’t be returning.
Time out market
Very good place We had Mac and cheese and a Caesar salad. Delicious and hearty At a very reasonable price in the end compared to everything we ate in NY. In short, the best place of the stay in terms of restaurant
