Had a great experience at J Liu on a very busy sunny Friday
Had a great experience at J Liu on a very busy sunny Friday evening. The service was really incredible-- every interaction from the woman who sat us (maybe an owner or manager? seemed like it.) all the way to receiving the check was top notch. Our server was Scott and he did an absolutely incredible job. We tried the tuna tower, dynamite shrimp, and chicken lettuce wraps. The tuna dish was very good. Fresh quality taste, the seaweed salad didn't taste too fishy like it usually does for me, and the avocado slices on top were succulent and perfectly ripe. The dish came with house made flour tortilla chips for piling the tuna and goodies onto. Spicy mayo sauce was served on top of the tower and also with the dynamite shrimp. The tempura batter on the shrimp was soft and fluffy, super delicious. The shrimp inside was cooked perfectly-- juicy and the perfect texture. We really enjoyed them. We also ordered wine and their "New Fashioned" to drink, and both were great. It would have been a 5 star experience if it weren't for the lettuce wraps. They were probably the worst ones I have ever had. The sauce and meat filling was nothing to really write home about, but the real problem was the fried vermicelli that came on top. It wasn't properly fried but you couldn't tell looking at it, so every bite I had tasted like it had uncooked pasta noodles in it. Crunchy and hard and really noooot appetizing at all. Otherwise 5 stars for J Liu. I'd surely go back but I would never order those lettuce wraps again.

Our friends joined us for dinner and drinks before going to the movies. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The drinks from the bar were made without any complaints. The calamari, shrimp, and spring rolls were all prepared to our liking and weren't overly greasy for being fried appetizers. The Poke Bowl was well portioned with each ingredient Pasta Diavolo had a great taste and was spicy and edibleMargarita Flatbread was tastyChophouse Burger was prepared as ordered

Food is not even good. Plenty of better options in close vicinity. Owner does not have common courtesy
Be the first to ReplyThis place should be shut down.
The reason I say that is they endanger the lives of their customers. After being overcharged for a Golden Corral style Mother's Day Buffet, we were notified by our server that the elevator was down and were being "reassured" that this happens often. That's fine...except for the fact that my sister was stranded upstairs as she's in a wheelchair. Why they put someone in a wheelchair upstairs when they know this is a common occurrence is beyond me. After making my entire family feel like a nuisance, the fire department finally came an hour later and took my sister and her 400 pound wheelchair down these dangerous metal steps. No one in this place seemed to care or follow up with us after. Way to go Jason Liu you must be proud!!!!
Be the first to ReplyWent for lunch for first time.
Jason's spicy chicken was great. Lobster bisque was excellent and I would go back again soon. Lunch prices are reasonable.

We went here this past Friday to celebrate my daughter's white coat ceremony. We were seated in the bar area since that is the only place with TVs. We wanted to watch the penguins game. We started with the lettuce wraps and homemade chips. The wraps were a big portion for 4 ppl and very tasty. For dinner I had the filet mignon which was very tender. My son had the steak frites which was ver good. We also ordered the Asian noodles which was filled with vegetables. The bartender was wonderful and we would definitely return. Well worth the money. Thanks for a great evening.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service.
Poor food variety. Poor food quality. My family and I went here for Mother's Day Brunch (2022) and needless-to-say, we were very disappointed. First of all, let me point out that this was our first time at this restaurant and we did NOT know that if was $45.00 per person for the brunch buffet. This was not listed on the website or posted anywhere so we were very caught off guard when the server told us the price. Speaking of the server, she was VERY unprofessional and almost looked disheveled. When she came to our table to introduce herself and inform us of what items were on the buffet, she literally sat down at our table, leaned back in the chair, and started to talk to us as if we were long time friends; very unprofessional. She literally said, "Ok, so you know how this goes right? It's $45.00 a person and you get whatever is on the buffet". Drinks NOT included. Our server was absent for long periods of time and not attentive in the slightest.. which is confusing because this was a buffet.. all she had to do was get our drinks and check in once in a while. There were other kids clearing off the tables. And when I say kids, I mean kids.. they looked to be about 14 years old. My brother-in-law ordered a drink and the drink literally sat at the bar for over 40 minutes while our server walked past it several times. Our server also disappeared (out of sight) with our credit card for a long period of time which made all of us very nervous. We had to ask one of the kids to go find her. Given the poor/non-existent service, we did not feel she deserved a large tip, however, with a party of 6, gratuity is already included at 20% !Quite honestly, I feel like this restaurant just hired some people off the street to be "servers" for the Mother's Day buffet because this woman had NO server skills nor people skills. Moving on to the food; The food was sub-par and lacked variety. The food options were also very random and did not seem to go together, for example, chicken Marsala, grits , spicy chicken, ham, etc. The meat at the carving station was cold (prime rib and ham) and not very flavorful. We all had stomach aches and felt sick when we got home. Moral of the story, do not waste your money here. We spent over $400 for bad service and bad food. Zero star in my book.

Mother's Day they had buffet that was the worse and you could not order regular food. It was $45 each. And our waitress was horrible. The service and food sucked for a horrible Mothers Day
Be the first to ReplyTonight I might've had the worst restaurant meal ever.
We eagerly anticipated the extensive menu for a birthday celebration -everyone in out party of six could have something they liked. After we were seated and ordered drinks tonight, we were informed that there was no menu available and it would be just a buffet. The buffet selections were extremely limited and I have had better food in my college dorm cafeteria. From the rock-hard fried potatoes to the flavorless " spicy chicken" to the mushy peel-and-eat shrimp, all appeared to suffer from having been on the Buffet for too long. Spring rolls reminded me of the generic version I get in my grocery store, except when I cook them at home, they at least are a little bit crispy. The crab Rangoon was generously sized; that is the only positive thing I can say about it. The beef at the carving station was stringy and had an aftertaste of artificial "jus." The biggest surprise, however, was the price we paid for this disaster. For what we received, the $45 buffet charge and the mandatory 20% tip being included was way too much. (I am usually generous in tipping, but for a buffet it seemed excessive.) By the time we added a beverage for each person, our charges were such that we could have eaten at the Refectory.
