Delicious sushi and guava/ume sorbet
Convenient izakaya with plenty parking. Hamachi carpaccio was our favorite dish. Red dragon, crunchy tuna, and the sunomono filled us up, but save room for their guava ume sorbet...sweet, tart and a little salty. Mmm mmm good!

Our first time eating at Torae Torae and it was delicious. This restaurant has a good vibe once you enter the door. The Sushi chefs and servers were very friendly! We ordered the Hamachi Carpaccio, Snapper Carpaccio, Hamachi Kama, seafood avocado salad, Tofu, Red Dragon Roll, assorted Sashimi B, and the White Dragon Roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. Special thanks to Peter and Nick for the excellent service! We will definitely be coming back!

Parking: The parking lot has enough spots and I usually never had trouble finding a spot. (I come at odd hours though). Come early just in case!
Interior: Really brings me back to the time I spent in Tokyo. The walls have many gorgeous paintings as well. They have an open kitchen where you can watch all the action if you so choose to sit at the sushi counter.
*I suggest calling ahead for a reservation or to check how busy it is as it can get really crowded! Or、come early because during happy hour the place is packed!
I arrived Wednesday night around 9:15 and was seated quickly.
*Happy hour starts at 10p.m
I wanted to take advantage of the happy hour prices so we chose some starter items/drinks while we waited. For the drinks CHU-HAI one of my favorite things to drink in Japan. A yummy sweet cocktail with many different fruit flavors.
Food: I started off with the mini ramen which had a nice flavor to it. And of course the soft boiled egg which is a must have! The Asari miso soup has a nice clam taste throughout. As for the sushi rolls the hideyoshi roll was yummy. I think the highlights were the ahi tataki、and the pork belly don! Ahi was nice and fresh and the sauce completed it、 the don was huge for its HH price. Big pieces of pork、a yummy soft egg、and a piece of daikon which brings it together. I liked mixing the egg with the rice and putting a piece of daikon with pork and taking a nice big mouthful.
Great shareable: The truffle edamame! Omg I could eat this forever. I literally ordered 4 servings for myself.
Service: Top notch、 helped me choose my order、very knowledgable on the menu and overall great. Bri definitely helped make the night am enjoyable one.
Overall: Excellent place、from the food down to the service! Hide makes excellent food and I highly recommend you foodies to experience it yourself.
Sashimi at its best
A small local eatery that serves fresh, tasty sushi and sashimi dishes. In the true sense, this was a perfect spot for small dishes (tapa style), specialty rolls, and a glass of beer. The hamachi carpaccio, tempura avocado, and chirashi were exceptional, fish was fresh, sauces were delicate and not overpowering. This restaurant received 5 stars because they knew the proper way to slice and serve hamachi, a skill only for those who are true sashimi chefs. As with most of these neighborhood eateries, parking can be an issue, however there was a convenient bank parking lot nearby.

Very small, unassuming hole in the wall that gets busy because they serve good food at very fair prices. Wide selection of small plates. Great variety, great quality. Unpretentious.

Traditional Japanese sushi and other asian inspired Japanese dishes like truffle edamame, takaki, donburi(rice) with sashimi and grated mountain yam with quails egg. So fresh and delicious. Lots of options on the menu from raw fish to grilled fish and meat or noodles with vegetarian items and nice sake list.

Our family of eight went to Torae Torae twice during our stay in Honolulu. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and the tuna carpaccio is a must to have. The tuna slices are nicely marinated served on a bed of sweet onions. There is a wide selection of rolls to choose from, both raw and cooked, and each is delicately balanced for taste. The gluttony bowl was yummy as was the seared otoro donburi (seared fatty tuna severed on rice). The place is small, casual and lively; and reservations are a must. They open at 6pm and I would strongly recommend opting for the first sitting otherwise you might have to wait a long time for the dishes to come out. Then again, in good company, chatting and connecting over food and drinks is the intent of izakaya. Enjoy!!
