Izakaya Atlantic City Reviews from The Last Year
I had a great time.
We did not make reservations so we sat right near the door which isn't ideal but wasn't that bad. The waiter was informative and attentive. We got the $95 chef special and it was amazing. All of the food had great flavor and it was nice to try different options. The restaurant was pretty and not too noisy even though it was very crowded. The cocktails and wine did the job.
Sad to say goodbye
This spot has always fed me and entertained me for a few great years now, and this is their final year. Way to go out with a nod to perfection. I tend to get the cheap $7 cucumber melon martinis on Monday, otherwise something lychee works. The robotoyaki are fun ways to test a myriad tastes from the kitchen. The branzino, the shishito peppers, the pork belly, the duck, and the shittake mushroom were all a hit with me. I have always loved the miso soup, and it remained a win. Knowing it was now or never for the kitchen, my friend added some gorgeous sashimi, and I needed Wagyu beef fried rice. The rice was presented tableside, where the egg cooked as it was folded. It was like being in a street fair with happy dance music, and every bite or sip just made you want more. This is the most bittersweet review I’ve ever written. Perfect service from Michael, who treated our meal as if it was any other fun night, not a countdown to a fin de siecle. Perfect service times, mixology from bar, and I cannot overstate how much fun this delicious food was. Cheers for what you did. I will follow your next venture wherever you land. Thank you for brightening my last several Decembers
Make sure you ask for Sal to be your server, 10/10 service.
He is devoted to his craft. Highly recommended. Food is outstanding.
This place is the least accommodating, rude, ridiculous
This place is the least accommodating, rude, ridiculous place. I have a few food allergies all to things easy to avoid and frankly expensive so most places are happy to charge me but leave them off. This place said no accommodations. Even for allergies. Go to Nobu instead. They were kind, delicious and actually live up to what they're known for. This place I had to pick around what I actually wanted simply because someone doesn't think people with allergies deserve to eat good food.
The food is not meant For the hungry.
Very small portions, the service was nice due to our server. The ambiance was cool. Once again the food is not meant for the hungry.
Saki and skewers
We were pleasantly Surprised! The atmosphere is fun and relaxing at the same time~ the staff was great and the food is amazing.. we tasted a lot, from the skewers to Sushi rolls everything was delicious. My personal favorites were the grilled octopus, the Maui taco sliders and the duck scrapple bun. And not to forget the Dessert - it’s an ice Cream rice crispy Roll. Absolutely delicious- I highly suggest checking this spot out soon

Need to update my review as my last 3 trips here were very negative. Possibly new management now?? I'm keeping it at 3 stars but only because of how good it used to be and my hopes of it returning to its former glory.
The decor is trendy.
The interior is beautiful with dim lighting . Good for date night . They have a $7. dollar Monday specials menu. I would recommend to try the sushi rolls . The lamb chop roba is delicious .
We had the best experience at Izakaya tonight! The food
We had the best experience at Izakaya tonight! The food was amazing, most notably - Korean bbq, wagyu fried rice, and soup dumplings. Our server, Sal, was very attentive and we were never left without a drink, next round of food, etc. He was wonderful! We stopped by the bar after dinner and Kelly made us some amazing drinks - if you like spicy, the Oso Hatsu is where it's at! The entire staff made for a welcoming & enjoyable experience. Overall, it was a 10/10! We're already planning our next night out here! If you're on the fence - book your reservation now!
Trendy vibes.
Very dark interior with dim lighting. Came with a large group and ordered drinks and food to share. Pear lychee martini is supposedly the most popular drink and it was delish. Some of our favorites were: Hot Oil Yellowtail, Tuna Avocado, Crispy Rock Shrimp, Wagyu Beef Rice, Charred Chilean Sea Bass, and Big Eye Tuna Roll Great service from Michael the server. Helped us order the perfect amount and was very attentive. Dishes came out pretty fast. Our go to when at Borgata.
Start to finish hands down one of the best meals i have
Start to finish hands down one of the best meals i have ever had, service was friendly and prompt. Rotating kitchens so food came out randomly. High points were the salmon negamachi, wagyu sliders, chicken katsu appetizer and the short ribs.
Standout food and service!
Our very favorite restaurant in the Borgata. Love the ambiance. Food is consistently delicious! We've never varied our menu choices, but since we planned to dine there two days in a row, we were hoping for something different. Huge shout-out to our server, Sal, who besides being friendly and attentive, happens to have a remarkably intuitive sense of his guests tastes! Based on our previous night's dinner choices, Sal suggested an entirely different menu for our second visit. He had already impressed us by greeting us by name and remembering our cocktail preference, so we decided to trust his suggestions. So glad we did! We savored every new taste and are grateful that he helped us to expand our 'Izakaya' palate! We've always had a pleasant experience in Izakaya, but Sal's service went above and beyond! (Additional shout-out to hostess Nikki for her warm greeting, and for easily accommodating our request to sit with Sal.)
Visited Izakaya with a party of 10 for my 50th birthday.
We were immediately seated and promptly served by our incredible waiter Kevin. Once we ordered shortly after we had a constant flow of food coming to the table allowing everyone to sample the divine delicacies in front of us. Some our faves were the edamame and soup dumplings. We mostly had sushi for our main course and was probably the best we have all had. The fish just melted in your mouth. Throughout our meal Kevin was checking in on us. I want to highlight that my son has food allergies which Kevin and staff handled professionally and perfectly... thank you! We were surprised by a beautiful dessert platter to celebrate my birthday and end our meal which was incredible!! Thank you Izakaya for making my big day extra special!
Overpriced, Underwhelming
My wife and I recently visited Izakaya for the first time to celebrate a birthday with a large group of family and friends. We were not impressed. Seeking to create a trendy, youthful vibe, the restaurant is exceedingly dark and quite noisy, as conversations are forced to compete with loud ambient music. The staff was friendly but not particularly attentive; there was no sense of personal service and we felt forgotten at various times during our meal. We sampled much of the menu, and there were some standouts. The Beef Short Rib special and Wagyu Beef sliders were a hit with everyone at our table. But all of the sushi and sushi rolls were ordinary, with ungenerous portions of bland-tasting fish in lackluster preparations and unimaginative presentations. This might not bother the kind of diners who patronize strip mall sushi buffets, but it is hardly acceptable when you're paying two to three times what you'd pay at any decent sushi restaurant. One obviously expects to pay more in a casino/resort setting--and I don't mind doing so if the food is top notch--but here price far exceeds quality. There are many great Japanese restaurants in and around Atlantic City; I'm sorry to report that this isn't one of them.
Always consistently on point
Anyone on here that has a problem with service then always ask for my boy Sal. Super attentive and knows his menu! Never disappointing EVER A+++
