Itoko Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
I flew in from Seattle and joined my cousin who loves Itoko.
The interior design is amazing, modern and warm. The wait staff was great. Monday isn't too busy, so a table was ready before the 6 pm reservation! We were served high quality fish and tastes yummy! I forgot to take more pictures, but the trio hand rolls and the Yama were also delicious. They all look so pretty. I would love to visit again, but honestly I think I would need to start digging through Bellevue to find a place similar to Itoko.

I have been here twice now and I love the food but for the quality and price, the service is disappointing. The waiter only checked on us twice and the rest of the time it's bus boys bringing the food out so if you need anything else you better cross your fingers someone will be walking by and then you have to flag them down still. The plates are also brought out one at a time so it is disappointing that you are never given new plates and especially that your empty dishes ar never removed. So food is great but the service is really disappointing when your trying to enjoy a pretty nice meal and that one factor takes it down a whole level.

I met a friend here for dinner and it was lovely! The servers were very attentive and helped us when we were undecided on what to order. The ambiance was great sitting on the patio. I didn't go inside but their patio seating in the spring or summer is very enjoyable. Their Aperol Spritz was great - probably one of the better ones that I've had. My friend and I split the edamame and gyoza, and both were delicious. My favorite dishes were the Tako Kato and the Sliders. I could have had a meal ordering those dishes repeatedly and I would have been happy. I definitely hope to return soon. Itoko is a gem!
To celebrate my daughter's acceptance into a prestigious
To celebrate my daughter's acceptance into a prestigious tech program in Tokyo and send her off in style, I figured what better place than Itoko? This exquisite restaurant, located in Lakeview, is bathed in calming neutral tones, minimalist wall art, soft lighting, groovy music, excellent service and amazing food. Our party of four arrived on a Thursday evening and were seated promptly. We already discussed what we wanted so when our beautiful and friendly server, Brenna, arrived, we were ready. The two adults (my daughter's BFFs mom and I) ordered the Dragon's Milk...an aggressively yet refreshing blend of prairie organic cucumber vodka, nigiri sake, mint, white pepper and lime) designed to get you where you wanna go, FAST. Our daughters ordered two mocktails (I don't remember the ingredients cuz I was more concerned with my own beverage) which they enjoyed immensely and made them feel "grown up." So, now onto the food. We ordered the yama and momomaki rolls, the Oshima ramen and the prime striploin to share and the "house" graciously sent us the bluefin tuna. We devoured every delicious bite and still had room for more. Since we couldn't decide on just one dessert options, we ordered two. The blueberry kakigori, a scrumptious shaved ice dessert topped with ginger crumb, blueberry jellies, freeze-dried blueberries and yuzu whipped cream. That and the donatsu, a deep-fried donut filled with chocolate ganache and topped with powdered sugar and maple flakes were UH-MA-ZING!! Itoko is the sister (or "cousin", since Itoko means cousin in Japanese) to Chef Gene Kato's legendary Momotaro restaurant in Fulton Market. It 100 percent delivers as a place where families, groups and couples can come and have a great meal in a sophisticated yet, down-to-earth setting. I'll be back!
My brother suggested this place, so we took a 15-minute
My brother suggested this place, so we took a 15-minute ride from downtown to give it a try, and it exceeded our expectations! The rolls were small but incredibly fresh and satisfying. The spicy cucumber was tasty but could use a bit more spice. The spicy chicken had a real kick to it; if you're a fan of spicy food, definitely order it! It's packed with flavor. However, the Tantan ramen had a strange bitter aftertaste that didn't appeal to me or anyone else at the table, so we only had a few bites. Now, the desserts were absolutely incredible! We tried all three on the menu. I can't recall their names exactly, but one was a donut with matcha whipped cream, another was like a raspberry sorbet, and the third was a pudding-like treat with a hint of lemon at the bottom, topped with white chocolate pebbles for a crunchy texture. Each dessert was delicious and light--no guilt involved! I'd return just for those desserts alone!
Very pricy but super delicious.
I'd go back to get the Mecha Kucha and TCD Tuna Toro. The ambiance is lively and fun. Great for dates or groups. Service was very good.
Love this place for their brunch and dinner! Great to go
Love this place for their brunch and dinner! Great to go with a couple others to try more of their menu items.

We had been meaning to go here for awhile now because it looks so cute and we've heard good things! We got seats at the sushi counter so we could watch them cook, but you really couldn't see anything because there was a little half wall in the way. We had three people so it would've been better to just get a table. We did get an extra snack, the shrimp ceviche, because we sat at the counter though and it was really good. Cocktails were yummy, too! Starting with the seafood, the otoro was decent, but a little boring. I think we should've done the nigiri instead. The Ebi Tom Yum was really good, but felt a little over priced. The price is just for a single one so it was $33 for the three. The spicy tuna roll was really good, but again, nothing too different from your common spicy tuna roll. The Yama roll was by far the favorite dish for everyone at the table. The shrimp and crab were really good and the cucumber balanced everything nicely. The negima was my next favorite dish. Even though it wasn't quite as pretty to look at as some of the other dishes, it was soooo tender and juicy. We wanted to split it between three and it was so soft that we were able to cut through it with a chopstick. I did also enjoy the beef chahan and it was cool how it sizzled, but we probably left it in there a little too long and started getting some bits that were a little crispier than I would've liked.
The service was really good but you get a 3 percent service
The service was really good but you get a 3 percent service charge and when you check out you get a 3$ charge to pay the bill. I am not sure if using QR code was required or suggested but to add 3 dollars to pay seems petty and the added charges on a really expensive meal ($348 for 4 people) just rubs you the wrong way. Will not be back.
Absolutely horrible.
From the service, to the food. It was gross. Miso soup was by far the worst. The chirashi bowl tasted like gross old cheap slimy fish. The only good thing was the ebi sushi with Thai spices. But they bring you seaweed and sticky rice so you can make your own mini bite size sushi rolls? Not a fan. The dessert was ok. Get better sushi at AYCE in Chicago (and that's saying something). That was just very bad. Like others have commented, you will likely be disappointed by the food after the "hype" of whatever chef that made this. Sorry.

During my recent visit to this restaurant, I was immediately impressed by its decor and the service. The ambiance, characterized by tasteful decorations and a welcoming atmosphere, set a promising stage for the evening. Additionally, the staff were attentive and polite, contributing positively to our overall experience. However, the dining experience was marred by the erratic timing of our food arrival. My friends and I encountered a puzzling situation where we had to eat at different times because our dishes were served randomly. This disruption in meal synchrony detracted from the communal joy of dining together. Regarding the food, our opinions were mixed. The ramen was disappointing, falling short of expectations in both flavor and texture. On a brighter note, the maki and rolls were generally good, offering a redeeming factor to our culinary journey. The nigiri presented a hit-or-miss scenario; while some pieces were enjoyable, others lacked the quality and finesse one would anticipate. A notable absence on the menu was salads, a simple yet versatile option that we missed. Another aspect that detracted from our comfort was the seating arrangement. The proximity of the seats to one another meant that privacy was compromised. We found ourselves inadvertently becoming part of neighboring conversations, further amplified by the loud music. This lack of space and the overpowering audio made for a less relaxing dining environment than desired. In conclusion, while there were elements of the restaurant that we appreciated, the overall experience left us feeling that there are better dining options available. The combination of inconsistent food quality, awkward meal timing, and the crowded seating arrangement means I am unlikely to return. For those considering a visit, it might be worth exploring other venues to find a dining experience that more consistently meets expectations.

It was busy when we went, the service was great but the food was overpriced and a bit underwhelming. The sushi was good but some of the Asian fusion menu items were a bit too simple for a higher end price tag.
Came here for brunch and loved everything.
My friend and I decided to split a few items and we devoured everything especially the pancakes (they stole the show). We also had their egg soufflé and spicy tuna dip. Both were equally delicious. Will have to return soon to try their sushi as well.
This place is an understated gem.
I had nigiri, sashimi, miso soup and the Tantan Ramen. OMG! Deliciooouuussssss!!!!! The ambience was light, kind and unpretentious. The service was excellent and the music was good. What more could a girl ask for?? This may be my new favorite ramen spot. YUUUUMMMM!!!

The ambiance is very aesthetic -- very modern & chic! I would highly recommend the Ebi Tom Yum handroll if you want to love Tom Yum! Super flavorful & delicious!
the service brought the rating so far low.
We made reservations for 8:00 and didn't get seated until 9pm!! To put this into reference, they close at 9pm -_- We had the restaurant week menu which included appetizers, main course and dessert. We had to order all at once. Even after we put in the order they came back at the end of the dinner and told us they ran out of the desserts that we ordered. It was an upsetting experience. In terms of the food, the only items recognizable were the nigiri and sashimi which was exceptional.
If rating on food quality alone, definitely 5 stars.
Almost every bite was delicious. (The TCD was a bit oversold in the tribune review; I wouldn't get it again. But everything else we tried was great, especially the hand rolls.) Service was almost too attentive when we got there (with dishes coming out together instead of staggered) but became extremely slow as it became busy. And it was a tad overpriced, we spent $350, and I went home and ate a slice of pizza.
Loved spending an afternoon lunch here.
They were serving the brunch menu when I walked in. Everything sounded delicious but just wanted to try some sushi rolls so we got 2. They were delicious, fresh and filling. Light ambiance in the restaurant. Service was great and accommodating to food allergies within the party and our server recommended a roll off the brunch menu to ensure we'd both be able to enjoy the selections. Looking forward to going back and trying other menu items.
Such a beautiful restaurant with a delicious brunch! I
Such a beautiful restaurant with a delicious brunch! I enjoyed everything I ordered in the gorgeous ambiance here.
5/5 on everything.
Sasha took care of us tonight and was so knowledgeable on everything + was loaded with suggestions (even though we could have eaten everything). For being so full the place really still was intimate and easy to hold a conversation in! We sat at low tops in the middle (where the action was) and both the chair and the booth were very spacious and cozy. Even though chair side gets a bad wrap Itoko makes it better by adding mirrors behind the booth side so now both chair and booth get to people as a team #couples #power #creeping Okay. Food. Wow. Blue fin tuna was our favorite and though we only ordered 2 pieces we want to come back and just order like 10 to share.. the mushroom/roe toppings were mind blowing. Get them. Pls? I was Surprised most with how much I loved the shishito peppers. The shredded fish flakes melted like Parmesan- I.. mowed through them. 5/5 Drinks were excellent, for sure go for the dragons milk cocktail if you're drinking, otherwise if you're sober the soy sauce was good enough to drink. Service was top tier and everything was absolutely worth it for a wonderful night out. Can't wait to come back again soon

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
