FIVE STARS! FIVE STARS! FIVE STARS! That's the post! FIVE STARS! I had the blessed opportunity to take my wife to brunch at Restaurant Iris and I am sooo glad that I did! I highly recommend the Corn & Crab Griddle Cakes, Redfish Clemenceau, and definitely have yourself a Mint Julip while you're there! By the way, did I mention FIVE STARS!

Our VP came to town so we gathered the team together for a work dinner at Iris. We could not have been more pleased. The atmosphere and decor are really well done. Our server was fast, knowledgeable, and extremely hospitable - and the drinks and food were so good. You always want the location you pick to impress during a business meal and this one definitely did.

Great little place! Wait staff was awesome, great wine selection and even though the menu was very limited this time of day, my crab cakes were amazing and the largest serving I have ever had! I highly recommend this hidden gem!
Be the first to ReplyLong overdue review of this wonderful establishment.
We have been coming to Iris since way back when Kelly turned down NBA stars for dinner. I always loved that story, I don't care how embellished it may be. It's great that he even beat him in a one on one game later, who knew Kelly English could even dunk????!!!!! The new location is much larger, has many more seats, and a beautifully decorated interior. It's whimsical and just lovely. The bar is amazing, and even boasts its own menu. They have a Cruvinet machine that holds fine/expensive bottles of wine for sale by the glass. It's great for when you want to try something but don't want to buy the whole bottle. Brilliant! They even have an oyster shucking station right there at the bar. When this location first opened, they had another Chef behind the menu. It was good, but it wasn't Kelly English good.... If you had been to the old Iris, you knew immediately that it was different. Kelly has since taken over the kitchen and implemented his recipes and style back into the heart of the house. I even got the old Surf and Turf "Iris Style" on my last visit. Holy shit! It was so damn good!!! If you've never had it, you are missing out man. Yum. I'm drooling thinking about it. Iris is as good as ever, and now you can actually get a table within a reasonable timeframe because it can now seat so many. There are private rooms available and they even have an exhibition kitchen where KE will cook right there in front of you. What more could you ask for?? Get your ass here now! Did I even mention the seafood hoecakes??? Geez '24 - 30/100

There were missing chairs at our table and the bartender was rude when we pulled one of many empty chairs from the bar to our table.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was incredible.
The BBQ Shrimp appetizer was unlike any I've ever had and possibly the best appetizer ever. Redfish and Salmon for our main course and both were exceptional. The crab and corn cake appetizer was delish. But couldn't hold a candle to the BBQ Shrimp.

Went at 7:30p on a Wednesday with a reservation for two - seemed as though it would have been possible to go without a reservation. Space was clean and well-designed; we were seated in a booth that felt private but not cut off. Waitress was friendly and came by often. The cocktails were well-made but not worth a trip by themselves. The Iris Sour was a fairly standard whiskey sour. The Cat in the Rain was also tasty but not a must-have. The food was almost all phenomenal. The appetizers stole the show - both the barbecue shrimp and the fried green tomatoes were exceptionally well done. The charred bread with the shrimp really made the dish and our waitress was nice enough to offer more of it to mop up the barbecue sauce. The scallops were also excellent, though (as is often the case with scallops) I was glad to have ordered other dishes to complete the meal. I'd have gone home still hungry otherwise. The honey roasted carrots were good but not the best I've had. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyI recently had the pleasure of dining at Iris restaurant
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Iris restaurant not once, but twice, and each visit was a delightful experience. During my first visit, I decided to try the salmon dish, and it did not disappoint. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were on point. The service was also excellent, making it an enjoyable dining experience overall. After some time, I decided to return to Iris to meet a colleague for drinks. However, I ended up ordering a little snack to accompany our drinks. I chose the barbecue shrimp, and it was an absolute game-changer. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. It was definitely a must-try dish that I highly recommend. While glancing at the menu, something caught my eye - the duck gumbo. Although we were not planning to stay long and wanted to take the food to go, I couldn't resist trying the duck gumbo. It came with basmati rice grits, and scallions. Let me tell you, it was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were rich and delicious, and it left me wanting more. The combination of the tender duck, flavorful broth, and the accompanying sides was a true gastronomic delight. Although I haven't been to Iris a multitude of times, the two visits I've had were truly satisfying. The second visit, in particular, blew me away with the flavors and quality of the food. I was so impressed that I am already planning to return to Iris in the near future. If you're looking for a restaurant with delicious food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere, I highly recommend giving Iris a try. Whether you're a seafood lover, a fan of barbecue, or simply looking to indulge in some mouthwatering gumbo, Iris is sure to exceed your expectations.

Be the first to ReplyGreat Cajun food and service was fantastic.
We went for lunch based on recommendations from a friend of mine who lived in New Orleans.
Be the first to ReplySat at the bar which is a beautiful bar.
We were given the regular menu versus the bar menu (maybe since they new we were newbies and didn't one there was a bar menu). When we asked the bar tender for recommendations, he kept pushing his "favorite fish dish."We said okay that sounds great and ordered two glasses of wine as well! In fairness we didn't ask the price, but couldn't be more than $30ish sitting at a bar, right? After being disappointed in our meal we asked for the check and to our very big surprise our fish was $68. First, who else in Memphis charges $68 for fish that isn't lobster with nothing but scarce crab and almonds on top? Second, it was drowning in so much butter that it became too soggy that we couldn't finish it. Sad thing is we loved Iris in midtown and was excited it was now close to where we live. Unfortunately it won't be a regular if we decide to go back at all.

You can have a conversation. Front staff welcoming and professional. Server was trained, excellent and knew the menu. She made it look easy. The food is always delicious. My guest said "best wedge salad he'd ever had". Wish the Second Line bread pudding was available on the dessert menu. You'll not be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoy the flatbread appetizer.
Beet salad is great with a good balance of dressing. Drinks are a little pricey. Good choice of cocktails. Wine selections are a little slim. Lindsey understands customer service. She is always cheerful. Pretty noisy in the bar area. The raw bar needs to open early and more often.

Great service! Our waiter was kind, informative, helpful and never rushed us. Three of us in our party & we especially enjoyed the Seared Brussel Sprouts from the a la carte sides. Parmesan risotto was fine but not much flavor. All of us enjoyed our main entree fish. We also each enjoyed our cocktails.

Was so disappointed !! Went for anniversary. Best thing about the meal was my glass of wine. Salad tasted like it was out of a bag- no dressing. Chicken was drowned in red sauce-- not good. Service was just mediocre and we were treated with "we are short staffed tonight ". Such a disappointment from one of Kelly English's restaurants but we will NOT be coming back here. Thought we would try dessert and it was not good. Tasted like it had been frozen and pulled right out . I would skip this place. Sorry, it's a .
Be the first to ReplyC'mon Kelly, this place is a disgrace to your name.
First, arriving early for our reservation, we were escorted by open tables in the dining room only to be placed in your "teaching studio" for dinner? It was my wife's birthday and we were seated here? We asked to be seated elsewhere, and the hostess looked at us like with disgust. The food was very, very below average! The flounder was bland and was drenched in sauce. The rest of the meal was disappointing as well! The only saving grace to our special evening was our waitress! There are so many better places in Memphis. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyMade reservations 3 weeks ahead of birthday expecting it
Made reservations 3 weeks ahead of birthday expecting it would be like in the midtown location...they had little touches like special table and named menu. Sat us down at the smallest two top ever. We walked out. Not gonna drop $300 for birthday meal and get Chili's ambiance. It's gone downhill. Never again.

Be the first to ReplyI don't think Iris deserves over 3 stars because everything
I don't think Iris deserves over 3 stars because everything was average-meaning it was good. Nothing was bad, but if you are going to charge the prices, you should be more than good. We eat at Iris for nearly every anniversary and we continued to do that because in the past we have left feeling WOWED-by food, service, atmosphere. Last night we were not wowed. It was average. The redfish was a bit overcooked. The steak was cooked perfectly. The portions were good. The crรจme brรปlรฉe was runny. The banana foster tres leche was delicious. Again, nothing bad,but nothing WOW. We may try it again because our experiences in the past have been WOW and maybe it was an off night.

.but let me add, if you get the table located right by the entrance, complain. Maybe it was my fault for not complaining, but I thought the place was full. Come to find out there were a few places that were better that we could have been sitted at for dinner . Food was good, service was ok, but seat was awful. There are two settings for two that only should be used as a last resort. We could hear everything the table next to us was talking about. Also, Chef Kelly English acknowledged their table, but didn't say a word to us. will I be back? probably not, which is sad, because the food is good.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was excellent HOWEVER.
... They need to train their host/hostess. We were seated at the WORST TABLE in the place. When there were several open tables set for two. When we sat down the (very close/loud) table next to us told us the last 2 couples that sat there asked to move. Why would you keep seating people in the worst spot??? Awful hosting!! Very disappointed! BTW the other tables STAYED OPEN the entire time we ate!:-(
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing.
..our group of four waited an hour and a half for our food (the restaurant wasn't that busy). When the food did arrive it was very underwhelming. I ordered salmon that was luke warm and drowning in a gritty sauce....I've had better at a dive bar. The salad was the best part of the meal. Our entire party was unimpressed, and very disappointed considering what we paid vs the quality of the food. I wouldn't waste your time or money eating here.
