Inaba Japanese Restaurant Torrance Reviews from The Last Year
It's part of a whole series restaurants here in south bay
It's part of a whole series restaurants here in south bay with one store in Hawaii. Food is good and well made. The soba is made in the store - saw the chef making it. Tororo isn't widely available nor is Okra and in the summer time it's good to eat all three together. They take reservations and you are guaranteed a table if you so, albeit you can get a table anyways walking in, just not as nice a table and in the center of the restaurant. It's not cheap but I would say it's reasonable. You get what you pay for. I would recommend it.
Authentic and amazing Japanese food.
Service was fast and helpful and ambiance peaceful
Simply the best! Amazing staff and owner! Great pasta,
Simply the best! Amazing staff and owner! Great pasta, salads and sashimi! Extensive sake list too!
Unassuming small place located in strip mall.
Caters to locals little foreigners here. Simple menu focus on set meals of rice bowls sushi sashimi and udon soba noodles
I would give this place 6 stars if I could.
After hearing about this Michelin star place in the South bay, I was excited to see they had a lunch special menu that we could take advantage of checking this restaurant out without paying an arm and a leg. We were able to waltz in on a Sunday 1pm and be seated immediately without a wait. Service was fast and waiters were super nice; my free cup of green tea was never empty. The inside felt clean and modern yet with a touch of Japanese traditional elegance. The lunch menu was a bit overwhelming with all the many choices, but always good to have options, and after asking our waiter, we settled on for the two of us: -- Bento Lunch box with upgrade to black cod -- Deluxe Tempura Lunch We started with salad that was refreshing and with the perfect amount of dressing. The Miso soup impressed me with its flavor and the variety of foods in it (not your typical miso soup with like 2 tofus in it heh). The tempura was amazing! I watched them mix the batter fresh and fry it behind the copper hood at the sushi bar. The Deluxe Tempura Lunch was totally worth as it came with probably 10 different pieces, including ones we'd never had as tempura before such as scallop and fish. Even the tempura sauce was unique with minced garlic in it. My Bento box came with the more typical pieces but still appreciated the freshness of it. The sashimi we got was exceptionally fresh and decent cuts. I especially enjoyed the toro salmon. My Bento box had " boiled veg assortment dish" which turned out to be braised chicken, potato, tofu(?) and carrot -- all cooked to perfection. Reminded me of home cooked Chinese braised dishes with soy sauce and some sugar -- so simple, but tasty if done right like they do here. The cod was also worth the $5 upgrade fee as it was tender and perfectly seasoned. The Deluxe ended with a half size soba and small scoop of ice cream -- just the right amount considering how full we were already. Parking is free and easy in the parking lot in front. Now I'm curious to come back and try their omakase!
This place is amazing! We took a chance as I'm rarely in
This place is amazing! We took a chance as I'm rarely in Torrance. Thanks to the great reviews from other Yelpers, we found a gem. They serve very traditional sushi and tempura. No frilly weird rolls here. Just high quality sushi. I've also heard that their Bento boxes are outrageous. I'll be coming back to give those a try next time.
The food was excellent but over priced.
2 pieces of Sushi Onagi almost $18 !!! A plate of tempera almost $35 iii the service was excellent. Not to many verities of food but a few . I love Japanese food
Excellent quality Japanese food in the South Bay.
Great service in a simple and clean atmosphere. Guaranteed to have a solid Japanese meal.
This is a PSA for the kaiseki only.
Don't come with the expectation of a true kaiseki like I did. It's a good value if you think of it as a tasting menu. But because I expected it to resemble a kaiseki like it was named, I was left feeling disappointed last weekend. Granted the price point was not as much as a true kaiseki but then again, service wasn't either. In fact, service was sorely lacking. I know I came on a weekend, and I'm very happy for them that it was busy. But calling it a kaiseki when neither the food quality nor service matched was a big disappointment for me. It was a big difference compared to our experience of a true kaiseki in Japan and I think if they called it a "tasting menu" then my expectations would have been a lot lower. Service: They just threw dry condiments on our table in the middle of our second dish and walked away without explaining to us what they were or what dish we were supposed to use it for. Food: Good, but did not resemble a kaiseki. Again, it was probably a misconception of what they meant by "kaiseki" but for me it made me expect Japanese fine dining and I was sorely let down. The food was great, I just got misled by what they called it. TLDR: Calling it a kaiseki is extremely misleading and I wouldn't have had such high expectations if it was called what it straight up was: a tasting menu. It's like calling a fish & chips dish that uses fried fish with eggs inside "flying fish caviar". Technically it's not wrong. But it's 1000% misleading.
It's mother daughter's day and we took our mom here for
It's mother daughter's day and we took our mom here for lunch. We drive from Orange County sight unseen based strictly off the reviews. Thank you yelpers for recommending this place. First it's well hidden in a bland non descriptive strip mall, down the street from the Del Amo mall, near a Jeep dealership. Inside is small with maybe 10 tables and counter spots. We made reservations but on a Sunday afternoon i don't think it was necessary. We splurged and got the Kaiseki lunch for $75. It was a lot of food! I'm not saying you're going to need fat pants but you won't leave starving. I was able to eat everything but my mom and sister were full. There's more food than the description lets on. I left extremely satisfied and would love to try more things. Next time, maybe a smaller lunch.
A more old-fashioned Japanese restaurant just north of Del
A more old-fashioned Japanese restaurant just north of Del Amo. The food here was really good; I was told they specialize in tenkasu which is tempura or fried foods but actually there's a huge selection and tons of sushi options. I was given a counter seat and the servers were pretty friendly. I could tell this place usually is mostly Japanese locals because the other customers were mostly Japanese and the waiters seemed to struggle a bit with English. The main turn off for me is the price. There's so many good Japanese places around and they specialize so if you're spending a lot you expect really high class. I think the atmosphere here is more casual though and it feels overpriced even though what I had was taste-wise very good.
We came in right at opening lunch on Saturday.
We were seated immediately. The restaurant filled up quickly within 30 min. We ordered the miso chicken lunch, ten zaru and charashi bowl. Quality of everything was good, although I have definitely had better quality tempura and zaru elsewhere. Fish here is very fresh. The biggest con here would be the prices. It is quite expensive for what you are getting. The service was good and the inside of the restaurant is calm and clean.
If you're looking for some great tempura.
I highly recommend Inaba. Make sure you make the reservations for the tempura bar. The bar only sits six people. Their tempura are fantastic, lightly battered, crispy, and not oily at all. They serve you with three different types of salt, matcha, cajun, and regular sea salt, and dipping tempura sauce. Besides tempura, they also offer a bunch of dinner set and a al carte. For starters, we started with an order of the Battera and Mozuku. We also got the beef tongue. It wasn't that great a bit chewy and lacking flavor. As for the tempura, everything that we ordered was delicious Shrimp - delicious and sweet. Squid - so tender and sweet. Kisu- delicious. Lotus root w/ Minced Shrimp and Shiso w/ Shrimp - both were fantastic. Hokkaido Scallops - so sweet and tender. Both Shrimp and Scallop Kakiage- fantastic. Anago- is a must order. Both Squid and Uni Shiso Tempura Roll- highly recommend. Service was fantastic and enjoyed our meal. Until next time.
If you are in the mood for a more luxurious sushi lunch
If you are in the mood for a more luxurious sushi lunch experience ($30-50), it is hard to go wrong here. From the bento box to the sushi, all of it is executed well. Great service and good food does mean that it may be difficult to get a table at this small place.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
