Impudent Oyster Chatham Reviews
Great food and Service, inappropriate hostess
My husband and I had dinner at the Restaurant twice because it was so good. Excellent service as well. I had the Ravioli Raimondo each time and my husband had the filet tips on our first visit and surf and turf on our second. He said it was the best filet he ever ate and that’s saying a lot. Had a delicious Chardonnay to accompany the meal and Oyster appetizers. The only thing that was not perfect was the rude hostess at our second visit. We had a five o’clock reservation and walked in at five minutes to five. She told us they were not open yet. There were people seated at the bar and we told her we would be there. So sitting at the bar, people were coming in which were seated by her…. I walked up to her while my husband paid the bill at the bar and I told her that we would like to sit at the same table that we had the time beforehand. She responded , I’ll decide where you sit. What?…. Anyway I sat down, my husband came and our waitress told me the name of the hostess. Sidney. I think Sidney needs some training, and also how to dress appropriately for her position. The hostess on our first visit was nothing like this and very pleasant.
Great food, great staff and lovely decor.
Very accommodating in spite of busy weekend. Loved the local oysters
Decent lunch but nothing amazing
The food was fine, the service was fine, the restaurant itself was cute and quaint. It was decent food but nothing memorable. That said, I would probably eat there again if we were in Chatham.

Food was tasty enough if a bit salty, and took a very very long time to come out. Oysters nothing special for their namesake and locale. A friend has celiac's and was personally assured the fish tacos (from the gluten free menu) would be made safely and she missed half the day vomiting.
A great dinner in Chatham
We reserved late so we had an early dinner reservation....and the place was pretty full! We enjoyed fresh oysters and two seafood dinners that were specials. They were both amazing! We loved the food here, it was excellent.

Great Place to eat ! The oyster were so delicious that i ended up ordering another half dozen. Also the ceviche was so fresh and delicious. On to top it the great food the bartenders created an ideal atmosphere

Amazing time! First time visiting Cape Cod and was recommended this place for the "locals only" atmosphere. Didn't make a reservation but the bar was first come first serve and only a 30 min wait. The shoppes around were very cute to visit while we waited. Food for 2 was the raw bar sampler - oysters clams and shrimp (all large and incredibly flavorful), clams casino and the broiled cod with the potato and goats cheese cake, green beans, capers, and beure blanc sauce. All delicious! Service was well timed and attentive to our pace and when we split a main, they plated the dish in half beautifully which was very nice and made each dish look special! The company at the bar were all locals and had great conversation - 10/10.
Birthday dinner.
We have been going to the Impudent Oyster for 20+ years. Food is always very good, especially the seafood Service is good. Nice dining room. Just off Main Street in Chatham.
I used to like this restaurant more but the last few meals
I used to like this restaurant more but the last few meals there have been a disappointment. We ate here this week and my seafood carbonara fell short. It was suppose to include lobster but there was only one small piece and the rest was scallops and shrimp. My wife's breaded sole was soggy, and they forgot to include a lemon. Another member dining with us had the shrimp and chicken piccata, and the jumbo shrimp were not jumbo. The chicken was dried out, they couldn't bite through part of it. Another member of out party had the halibut and it was overcook. I can't recommend this restaurant at this point, there are better ones in the area.
Don't order the Lobster Roll.
The Chowder and Oysters were great as starters. I ordered the Lobster Roll and was the worst I've ever had on the Cape. The Menu lists it as a Lobster roll but it is really a Lobster Salad. Basically Lobster in a blender. The roll was burnt. Service was excellent but overall not happy as a clam.

We ate at the Impudent Oyster this past Sat night for a 5:00 reservation. We give the food an A+, but our server made the experience unpleasant. She was annoyed when we barely sat down and did not know what we wanted to drink. Then she came back and wanted to know our starter. Normally you get that going and have time to study the menu. She insisted we order our entrees immediately. We were pushed through this meal literally in 50 minutes and were out the door. I understand there are other reservations following us, but we were not given time to enjoy and it ruined the experience. We had 2 underage young ladies with us and I think she saw she could not make enough maybe? If she had treated us more kindly, not been so snippy and allowed us to enjoy our meal that we paid $217 for, we would have also stayed for dessert and another drink and would have tipped better. The icecream we went and got up the street and the drink we went to Chatham Bars Inn made for a much more pleasurable end to the evening. Props to the chef though, if only we had time to savor it.
Always great Specials daily Comfortable Great service A+
Always great Specials daily Comfortable Great service A+ expected and very much our experience. Kathleen Lockyer
Been a regular here for years.
Now I open the menu and--boom--everything's "Asian-fusion." Swordfish Picatta? Gone. Fishwitch? Gone. And $9 for a side of broccoli...really? Feels like you're chasing tourists with deep pockets instead of the locals who kept you busy all these years. Keep the classics, keep your roots, and I'll stick around. Looks like I'm headed to Del Mar more often.
A must!!
We live in Scottsdale, AZ and came all the way because of a recommendation of a friend. It did NOT disappoint! What amazing food!! From the martini’s, to the Caesar salad, to the oysters and the seafood entrees. Even the bread and butter. All of it, superb! The ambience, the service (thanks Morgan :), everything! I Cannot recommend The Impudent Oyster highly enough. If you’re anywhere near Chatham, MA, you must stop by, it’s incredible!
Traditional spot, incredible menu.
We visited based on recommendations and so glad we did! Not much kerb appeal, but golly, the menu is brilliant (some incredible specials when we visited). The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Not cheap, but v fair value. Our favourite restaurant in Chatham.
This was our first time at this restaurant.
We came here for a late lunch based on the reviews from Yelp. The ambience is really quaint, bright and upscale casual. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. We had the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Nothing special, other than fried, with a sauce on the side. The mussels were harvested locally and came with white wine sauce, topped with onions. A large hunk of garlic bread accompanied the mussels. A very large portion as an appetizer and it was my main meal. My wife had the scallop sandwich, which was excellent-scallops cooked to perfection with a bacon/cheese sauce on a buttered brioche bun. It also came with a side of sweet potato fries. Highly recommend to come and enjoy a lunch while visiting Chatham MA.
Just OK.
This is one restaurant that's really different from the rest. Very busy and very noisy. Food was just okay. Will not be returning soon.
Not Impotent Oyster
I wondered about the price of meals at the Impudent Oyster when I looked online. When I see the kind of prices I saw, my expectations go up. My wife had something like Salmon and Garlic. I decided on the Shrimp and Scallop Matasaka, which was one of the specials that night. As soon as I started, I couldn't believe what was happening. This was an excellent dining experience. Shrimp and scallop of course, but it was on a bed of linguine that had a sauce made with soy and ginger. That sauce was mixed with carrots, bok choi, and cabbage. If only I could steal the recipe The only suggestion I can offer is to put the Matasaka on the regular menu and make it available more often.
Friday dining
Our host recommended the restaurant for dinner. Cannot stress enough the best of service, food and satisfaction when a recommendation exceeds expectations. Yes it’s a tad loud when full. However when you are enjoying the well prepared starters then entree you are not aware of others dining alongside you. You are savoring every bite of delicious food.
Not so good experience
We selected that place for a birthday dinner with close family based on great reviews. Reservation was required and was easy to make. After arrival, came out that parking lot is smaller than restaurant's capacity and it was full. We had to find parking on the street which was not easy despite off-season. As expected, the place was very crowded. But not just people wise, space wise too. Five of us (4 adults and 9-year old) were put at a tiny table with space barely enough for bread, small appetizer plates and drink glasses. We ordered oysters for appetizers and there was literally no space on the table to put two plates of oysters on. The atmosphere was good, so was the wine, but with food we expected more based on reviews. Our waitress was also too busy, after food arrived she quickly checked if everything's OK and then disappeared to serve other customers. My wife's dish included grilled lobster tail and came out that it was totally burned underneath - like a charcoal. It was burned so badly that it's taste made rest of the dish practically uneatable. Unfortunately, my wife discovered that after our waitress checked on us and left, and by the moment we saw her again the rest of us were almost done with our food so it was too late to ask for replacement. I must admit that waitress did what she could and took that burned dish out of our order so at least we did not need to pay for it, but dinner experience was still ruined. I do not know if we will return, with all what happened we were just not thrilled.
