Always a pleasure... even more outdoors.
My 59th birthday was the right occasion for a family lunch (5 people) at Sole di Maleo, which has now become a fixed point of reference for our family celebrations, both for the cuisine and for the hospitality (not least that reserved for the our border collie). The very hot day of Sunday 7 April allowed us to have lunch in the beautiful outdoor area inside the structure, which proved to be enviable for the temperature, practically perfect for a slow lunch with a desire to chat. The new chef's new proposals are excellent, from the stracotto toast to the excellent fried taleggio cheese through to the asparagus risotto, all excellent, as is the Falanghina I chose to accompany it all. The only thing that didn't completely satisfy me was the apple pie in an unprecedented deconstructed reinterpretation that made me regret the traditional shortcrust pastry a little. But it's a laughable detail. As always, the welcome was excellent, the service staff were delightful, and the final bill was very honest. A nice day. As always we will return.

When we talk about Sole di Maleo the first thing that comes to mind is Gianni Brera and his love for cooking. Tradition is the first word that comes to mind when you taste the welcome meatball... I would have liked to try other dishes such as meatballs that take you back to the past and make you rediscover lost tastes. Traditional dishes revisited and dishes with new flavors that are perhaps a little too modern. Overall good food and impeccable service.

After the positive experience of last year, we have decided to replicate the lunch at Sole di Maleo for Christmas 2023, which has now become a fixed reference for our family dinners, both for the cuisine and for the reception (not least the one reserved for our dog). The menu was as follows: Entry with a miniburger with mustard cotechino and escarole (score 8), followed by duck pรขtรฉ in 3 variations (score 8.5) and an excellent marinated salmon with pepper ricotta and lemon zest with turnip top sauce (rated 9). Followed by the first courses: chamomile risotto with eel, honey and oregano (rated 7, the dish that convinced me the least, perhaps because I am an avid "denigrator" of eel), followed by a sage and lemongrass sorbet (rated 8 ) and some sublime agnolotti of stew in capon broth (rated 10), so good that they didn't make me fully appreciate the excellent stuffed capon (rated 8.5). To close the lunch, the traditional panettone, served toasted in its sauce combined with a mascarpone cream ice cream with a very soft taste (rated 9.5). As for wines, up to the risotto I chose an excellently made prosecco (rated 8.5) and from the agnolotti onwards a less convincing Nebbiolo (rated 7), for a total bill (very honest) of 305 euros for three, for an enviable Q ratio /P. After such a lunch it was inevitable to end with coffee. Too bad it arrived 25 minutes after ordering. But in general the whole service, certainly due to the large turnout, was slowed down, so much so that we sat down at 12.40 and I went to the cashier at 5.05pm. But I repeat, since this is the first time that this has happened, I don't feel like blaming the place, also because our waitress is so kind and nice (as well as very pretty, which never hurts....) both with us with our dog who don't want to criminalize it. As always we will return.

I can only fully confirm what Mrs Alba wrote: all true. We had given it a second chance after an absolutely mediocre summer dinner but on New Year's Eve we went from the frying pan to the grill. We would also have expected, at the end of midnight, given the decidedly higher prices for dishes that usually cost much less, with several customers already out of the way and with monstrous delays, perhaps a bottle of Moscato served at each table. It would have been a good remedy to avoid giving a terrible rating. Never again.

My husband and I went to this restaurant with two friends on New Year's Eve. We chose it because we wanted an a la carte menu and because we had wonderful memories from many years ago. The location is splendid. The first unpleasant surprise was seeing the prices almost doubled compared to those published on the internet. Starters all at โฌ30 when on the normal menu the most expensive one costs โฌ20... first courses all at โฌ35 when on the menu the most expensive one was โฌ29... desserts all at โฌ15, normal average price โฌ9... This is the unbecoming Italian habit of dramatically increasing normal prices on special occasions. Incorrect behavior to say the least. We were the second customers to arrive (8.10pm) and we left at 10.45pmโฆ 65 minutes of waiting (because we asked) to get the second one. The risotto was good but not hot. The two pig bellies were barely warm, small portions and only partially eatable because part of them was dry; the cod was cold and the portion was really small; the stew was lukewarm and nothing like what we remembered from the old days... I must say, to be honest, that the owner (with whom we complained openly) was sorry and did not charge us for the wine, water or dessert..., regretting the fact that he missed it. staffโฆ it would have been sufficient to limit the number of reservations. Experience not to be repeated.

Beautiful location, warm and welcoming environment with a conservative restoration of absolute value. Each building, decorative and furnishing organism respects its typological elements. We ate carefully prepared dishes and I really appreciated the beef stew with polenta. The workmanship of the desserts and the variety of wines are extremely delicate. I applaud the professionalism of the chef and all the staff, not to mention the kindness and courtesy of the owner. I really spent a lovely evening dedicated to good food together with a caressing human relationship that will certainly remain with me. I recommend it very much.

Among the many restaurants included in the gastronomic review, we unfortunately chose the worst. Very high unjustified prices, miserable portions and terrible service with grumpy staff. Be wary of all the 5stars present and inform yourself before finding unpleasant surprises. The event is an excellent initiative, but there is always someone who steps up to it...

I highly recommend the review as the quality of the dishes is very high with a very low price, the portions allow me to get to the end without choking on the food, to savor everything and enjoy lunch accompanied by an excellent wine. I'll be back soon!

Absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED at the gastronomic festival in the Lodi area. If you include water and coffee (3 euros), you spend 50 euros each and leave the restaurant still hungry. They taste the first course and the second course that makes you laugh when they bring you the package (so small). Not to consider 17 euros more for asking if we could still have a small taste of the first course. Rejected!

Great dinner place in special location - we were here for a business dinner and had from appetizer to desert all dishes. Quality was excellent and service was good too. The wine beside this was great and we will come back for sure/maybe next time in the summer because it looks outside so great
