We stayed here twice the past year when we went to watch a Liverpool game. It was fine the first time we stayed. The hotel rooms definitely need an update. Everything is worn and old. Bathrooms are tired looking. Little things like taps for the faucet is located in a weird location that makes it inconvenient to turn on and off. The showers are horrible because there is no door so the water splatters everywhere in the bathroom. It wasn't well designed and needs a total remodel. However, the reason I give it one star isn't the old fixtures and design. It is the horrible service in the restaurant. We went there twice to sit in the bar area to get some snacks and drinks. Both times, no one approached us until I got up to ask how we place an order. There was enough staff but were ignoring us. The second time, I was sitting by myself and no one approached me to take an order although one of the server spent almost 10 minutes chatting with one of the patrons. Clearly she had all the time in the world. I patiently waited staring at all the staff trying to get their attention but they just walked by without even glancing at me. My husband finally joined me and sat down. As soon as he sat down, a server came to take our order. I realized they were ignoring me because I'm Asian and he is white. The staff here is very racist. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you're a racist and you're okay with this behavior. We are never coming back here.

You MUST stay here if you are in Liverpool! BEAUTIFUL hotel, amazing guest rooms (ours was a studio with two single beds and the bathroom was very high end!); plush robes; the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Honestly I've stayed in hotels all over Europe and the US and this is one of the very best hotels I've been in.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is really kind and friendly. The housekeeping staff is also top notch. The only downside is that it is a small hotel so they cannot always accommodate special requests. The last time we arrived we had come off an overnight flight and they didn't have any rooms clean for an early check in. But after we waited they upgraded our room to a huge room for our family, which was really great. It had a huge tub and a shower. They have hardwood floors which I think is a lot cleaner than carpets, and it is a lot better if you suffer allergies. We traveled with our kids. They have toys for the kids to borrow, but we didn't do that so I don't know if they are any good. The bathtub is as big as a swimming pool so that kept the little one occupied. The location is great - across from the Philharmonic, and next to the Philharmonic pub (Beatles fans will remember this from Paul McCartney's Carpool Karaoke). Close to the Bold Street restaurants and handy to the cathedrals, the bombed our church, and a small Sainsbury's if you need something while you are traveling. In Boston this would easily be a $300 a night hotel. The Hope Street Hotel isn't cheap, but it is a really a good value.Reserve ahead if you need to use the parking garage, and get a very, very, very narrow car.

Well I'm a little jealous of the other yelpers upgrade, but even my as-expected studio room is really, really nice. Large room, fabulous sheets, and a nice sized deck for fresh air. Bathroom is huge and sumptuous also. The restaurant across the street - eco? - was also decision Mediterranean food. Free, good wifi. The concierge was very helpful in making me a walking tour of liverpool - and this is such a cool city!! Don't pass this one up. Price was very reasonable for what you got imho.

Sadly, we didn't get to stay in the Hope Street Hotel, but we were advised to try out the bar - London Carriage Works - before our meal at 60 Hope Street, a short walk down the road. And wow. This is how the other half lives. The bar space is large and open, with plenty of glass and wood, giving it a very Spinningfields vibe (you can take the girl out of Manchester but you can't stop her comparing everything to it!)Due to it being a Sunday, it wasn't very busy, with a few people having some evening drinks and eating in the restaurant on the far side of the room. We were greeted by super friendly staff, had the menus bought over, and informed that there was some mulled wine available - it smelt incredible and couldn't wait to have a glass. The mulled wine was really delicious, very creamy and warming, so just what you want! I also tried two cocktails; an orange blossom, with cointreau and vodka, and a lynchberg lemonade, with Jack Daniels and cointreau topped with lemonade. Everything was presented beautifully, and the staff couldn't have been more attentive.

Hope Street is a modern boutique hotel centrally located in Liverpool. It is a 10-minute walk to Liverpool One/Albert Dock and 5 minutes by taxi from Lime Street station.Exposed brick walls and hardwood floors accent comfortable and spacious rooms. I have had king-sized beds for both of my stays.Breakfast is served in the London Carriage Works restaurant, offering a small but nice buffet of cereals, pastries and some meat/cheese. The more extensive menu features a nice variety of traditional offerings. Food is good, but overpriced as is typical in a hotel. Dinner there, by the way, is quite nice. The staff at Hope Street are excellent - always friendly and helpful. I did have a couple of minor issues during almost two months there - but they were quickly and attentively handled. The hotel is divided into 2 wings - I suggest the 'old' one for more quiet rooms and better wifi coverage (free throughout). The 'new' room was renovated more recently, but I hardly noticed.Hope Street is a great place to stay for short or long trips to Liverpool.

After a bit of a glitch regarding our reservation (and a very professional recovery) we were very impressed by this hotel. The room was very good, the bed comfortable and the facilities first-class. We never did work out all the features on the shower but, that apart, the room was good. Breakfast was very tasty, although the service was a bit below par.

If you're ever in Liverpool and you need a place to rest your head, I recommend this charming little place. Located on Hope Street this little hotel offers a handsome interior décor. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms, though small, were classily done in basic white and wood with exposed brick. Loved the simplicity of the place. The bathrooms had heated towel racks and mirrors (never have to worry about steaming them up). The down side: I think our room was recently painted, as you could still smell the fumes. Also, as like many hotels, it was a bit loud. You could hear people walking down the hall and the band playing downstairs. You could also smell the kitchen - as they have a wonderful restaurant attached to the hotel. Maybe ask for something other than the first floor.

Stayed here for a wedding, pleasant hotel with large rooms and excellent front of house staff, no complaints other than the breakfast dept needs work. Service is slightly disorganised and the food on the greasy side, room for improvement.
