Authentic Cantonese Food & Dim Sum
Outside this almost looks like any other Chinese fast food place. Inside typical decor that reminded me of traditional restaurants in Hong Kong or Guangzhou in 1990's. Nothing bad about that, but if you are going for chic ambience, Asian fusion, or Americanized fast food, it's none of those things (which I consider a good thing). This is a neighborhood restaurant, not touristy. Go for the food. It's excellent! It has lots of traditional Catonese/Hong Kong style dishes + dim sum reasonably priced. We ordered roast duck, steamed pork belly, cold chicken with ginger dip, soy bean leaves + assorted dim sum. The tea was also very good which I appreciated since many US Chinese restaurants have very poor quality tea. This was one of the best restaurants we found in SF area - including several others where food costs more.

Visiting San Francisco and had visited this place in May 2017 so we thought we would come back. We were a group of eight and we were quickly seated. Orders taken for drinks and food and it was delicious. We ordered a variety of main dishes and the flavor was excellent. The highlight was the Peking Duck and coffee robs. Hong Kong Lounge did not disappoint! I will visit again when in San Francisco
Be the first to ReplyHands Down Best Baked BBQ Pork Buns
Definitely my favorite Dim Sum On Geary. Pro tip get there before 12 as went on a Friday morning had been seated about 10 minutes and the place filled up. They do by far the best baked bbq buns on the planet (slight exaggeration) But everything is good here and the service is always good.
Be the first to ReplyDismal food and service at a formerly good restaurant
I have been coming to HK lounge for dim sum since around 2015 whenever i'm in SF and it was always good, my experience last week was far from good. the food was pretty bad even by ghetto wok standards, service was also extremely lacking. one of our dishes came out more than 15 minutes after the others and despite our group being only 5 people, they took it upon themselves to add an 18% tip to our bill... i decided not to gripe the tip and just paid, but i feel it necessary to make others aware of the bad food and service awaiting them at this once very good restaurant.

We are no experts but everything we had was great. We loved the dim sum, desserts and other plates, and the service was easily understood and appreciated. Great communication.

Hong Kong Lounge has always been a hit for us. Delicious dim sum, noodle dishes, lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, and soups. Highly recommend!

Still our favorite dim sum restaurant! Great Shanghai soup dumplings, shrimp stuffed eggplant, sticky rice, baked pork buns (nice change from steamed), delicious pork and shrimp dim sum (as well as shrimp in rice noodle, and very tasty โsurf clamโ when they have it. Soups and noodle dishes are also done nicely! Definitely a stop if youโre looking for authentic dim sum!

Chinese food is so hit and miss you never know how good or bad it will be. Youโll have no worries here.
We ordered a selection of dim sum, seafood noodles, half a duck and the roasted aubergine. I canโt find fault in anything. The dim sum was amazing, the duck was exquisite and the aubergine was to die for.
If you come to SF this place is simply the best
Cantonese banquet experience
To entertain a large gathering with plenty of dishes at a reasonable price, this is the place especially if you enjoy Cantonese cuisine. Menu for a table of ten starts at about $300. Peking duck, a banquet stable is included. We also had lobster, prawns, appetizers, sea bass, bbq spareribs, as part of our eight course meal. No one left hungry. Food was very good, not spectacular, but a total bargain. Usual noisy ambience.

Excellent traditional Chinese food - we had the chicken and corn soup and the Singapore style fried rice noodles - both were simply delicious.
Be the first to ReplyGood dim sum
I wanted dim sum for dinner, and this place had it. Got there at 5:30 right when it opened and there were a lot of people there but everyone got seated. It's super busy it seems during lunch but not as busy for dinner, but you still get the dim sum (so why go for lunch on a weekend?! :-)) The dim sum was good, especially the soup dumplings. My only issue was that the portions were quite small for the cost and for what I'd typically expect for a portion. i.e. for the scallion cakes, it was a very small circular piece the size of a small plate and only one of them, rather than two larger ones that I'm used to at other places and 4 soup dumplings rather than 6. But otherwise it was quite good.

Found this place online after doing a number of searches. Took an Uber from downtown for about $10 and got there on a Thursday around 10:45. Place started to fill up with locals already. Was full and people lining up by midday.
Different ordering experience to what we are used to. Essentailly, look at the DimSum menu and mark with a Sharpie what you'd like and they turn up when cooked. Great food and flavour and variety. Good size meals and speed. Definately would go back.
Authentic Dim Sum
Went on a Thursday late lunch and there were a 20 mins wait. Finally got a table against the wall and had a very good mean. It's a bit pricey and the portions were a bit small but good tasting.

We went to Hong Kong Lounge on Geary Blvd and 17th Ave for Dim Sum. We had about a half hour wait but it was worth it. They have a great way to order here too and bypass the traditional dim sum carts. The menu is a large laminated sheet with photos of all of the dim sum options with your table number printed on the front. They give you a sharpie and you simply check the box next to the item pictured and then give it to the server to order. This is great and you will always get what you are looking for.
Traditional dim sum carts empty quickly and if you are in the back of the restaurant and away from the kitchen, you always get whatโs left by the time the cart makes it to your table. Ugh! LOL!
The service was very good here too, with everyone being very attentive and polite. Our party of 4 ordered around 9 dishes to share and it was plenty of food. Also we felt at around $58 with tax for the 4 of us, it was very affordable.
Wait times here can get lengthy here, but they have a nice process to check you in and give you a ticket with a number on it which is called as your table becomes available. We recommend Hong Kong Lounge but advise you to get there early to avoid the longer wait time.
